*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

If Not You, Then Whom?

If you've been putting off your dreams because you feel like you don't
have money to get started, or don't have the necessary education or
qualifications, I've got news: you may never have what you need to
feel ready.
Do you think any of the Prophets felt ready when they were chosen?
Muhammad ibn Abdullah (sws), the Messenger of Allah, received the
first revelation, then ran home and hid under a blanket. The Prophet
Musa (as) was confused and frightened when he entered the valleyand
heard a voice commanding him:
"Verily! I am your Lord! Sotake off your shoes, you are in the sacred
valley, Tuwa. And I have chosen you. So listen to that which is
inspired to you. Verily! I am Allah! La ilahailla Ana (none has the
right to be worshipped but I), so worship Me, and perform As-Salat
(Iqamat-as-Salat) for My Remembrance. Verily, theHour is coming and My
Will is to keep it hidden that every person may berewarded for that
which he strives. Therefore, let not the one who believesnot therein
(i.e. in the Day of Resurrection, Reckoning, Paradise and Hell, etc.),
but follows his own lusts, divert you therefrom, lest you perish."
(Surat Taha, 12-16)
When Musa threw the staff down and it became a snake, again he was
frightened. Allah directed him to have courage, and pick it up; when
he touched it, it was restored to its former shape. When he was
commanded to go to Egypt to free the Israelites and reform his people,
he felt unready for the mission. He had a speech impediment and was
afraid that he would not be able to speak convincingly. He sought
permission from Allah to take his brother and fellowProphet Harun
(as), who was an eloquent speaker. Permission was granted.
This illustrates another important point, that everyone needs a
wingman sometimes. We're not always strong enough to do it alone.
Sometimes we need a friend, an ally, a supportivespouse, just one
person who believes in our mission and is willing to help, or simply
puts and arm around our shoulders and says, "I believe in you."If you
have someone like that, he or she is a treasureand a secret weapon.
When it comes to the mostimportant things in life, no one is ever
ready. All you can do is stand tall, build a bonfire of resolve in
your heart, and move. The time to do what you dream is now. Consider
Abu Bakr (ra), who clearly knew howto embrace opportunities. When he
saw the slave Bilal (ra) being tortured, he bought him from Umayyahbin
Khalaf and freed him. He freed many other oppressed Muslims slaves in
the same way. When Abu Bakr's father saw this, he said: "My son, why
are you buying these weak slaves then freeing them? Why don't you at
least keep them so that you can make use out of them?" Abu Bakr
replied: "My father, I am only doing thisto seek the Countenance
ofAllah."
The Messenger of Allah (sws) told us that a man was granted Paradise
for removing a thorny branch from the path. A prostitute was forgiven
all her sins and granted Jannah for giving a drink of water to
athirsty dog. Another man was granted a house in Paradise for donating
a date tree to a poor family.
No good deed is insignificant, for it could bethe grain of sand that
tips the scale and saves you. Noworthy project is too small, nor too
large if you start with a single step, focusingonly on executing that
stepwell. When I face a large project, whether a major web project, a
writing project, or cleaning up a kitchen mess, I tend to get
overwhelmed. So I narrow my focus and I tell myself, just do one
thing. I do the one thing, then pick one more thing, and one more,
then I look around and SubhanAllah, the job is getting done!
If you find yourself disturbed by events aroundyou – whether
internationally, in your community, or within your family – and
thinking, "Someone should do something," well, you are the someone.
You see the need, you have the capabilities that Allah gave you as His
representative on earth, you have the same brain, heart and opposable
thumbs as anyone else. You're it, bro. It's you, sister.
Yes, someone needs to raise funds for our starving brothers and
sisters in Somalia, Syria, Yemen and other places. Someone must speak
out on behalf of political prisoners, educate people about Palestine,
start a Humanitarian Day event in the local community, adoptMuslim
orphans, establish Islamic institutions, represent Muslims in the
media, write Muslim novels, make documentaries…
If not you, then whom?

Things aren't always as they seem.

Things aren't always as they seem.
Umm-e-moosa was told to throw her son in the river
Hazrat yusuf (a.s) was left to die in a well.
Hazrat maryam delivered achild alone.
Hazrat yunus (a.s) was swallowed by a fish
Hazrat ibrahim (a.s) was thrown in the fire.
Yet look at how it turned out for them, in the end.
Allah always has a better planfor us,
Things may not start off too Well,
But the ending is usually better than we except.
If today you are facing hard times,
Have faith and pray for a better tomorrow.
Miracles do happen when
You seek guidance from Allah.
For he is all-knowing,
All-wise & all-powerful/

This is Who I Am

I can only come as I am to you, Allah
You're not the only thing inmy heart
But can't I still give it, full of everything as it is, back to you?
You're not the only thing on my mind
But can't I still ask you to help me with my random, sinful thoughts?
I'm not perfect, and You even said You wouldn't want this
You want those who can be forgiven
And I need forgiveness Yousee, because
I sometimes am fine with having more than just You in my life
I sometimes am fine with thinking things I shouldn't
I sometimes am fine with skipping a prayer or two
I sometimes am fine with eating a haraam burger
I sometimes am fine with saying a bad word
This is who I am Allah, a girl who is sometimes fine with sin in my life
But I don't forget You, everywhere I look I see You
And I'm just tired of being told to be someone else, just to come to You
I am who I am Allah, and while I am making my bad choices
I am also hating that people are being hurt
Whether it's by me or someone else
I am hating that people aremistreating one another
Whether in the name of Islam or any other cause
Allah I am who I am, and I am someone who loves goodness
I love fairness and compassion
My favorite thing is to see people come into a blessing of any kind
And find their heart's desire, to see them really find You
So this is who I am Allah, I am a contradiction
I am a lover of Your attributes even while I am rejecting them in my own life
By means of my own actions
I am messed up and hurt and scared, all while hopeful and trusting and strong
I cry that things don't go my way, and I cry at the story of Muhammad (saws)
I argue for the fun of it, yetsometimes Your words take the fight
right out of me
You are ultimate and real and deep and pricelessly complex
And I am whimsical, moody, emotional, nafsy and greedy
And all I want is to be able to come to You and be who I really am
While You make me who I was always meant to be.

Fight for It

Anything I have in my life, Ihave fought for. Yes, it all comes from
Allah. The two are not mutually exclusive.
There are universal gifts that Allah gives to all. Life, the soul, the
will… beyond that, nothing is assured. Breath? Some people fight to
breathe. Food? Some people struggle for a bit of grain. Water? Some
people work an entire day to get water. Health? Some people are born
sick and fight for every day of life. Freedom? Millions of children
are born in refugee camps.
Allah gives us opportunities. He gives us abilities, talents, gifts,
and it's up to us to make something out of them. Allah gives us
guidance andtruth, but if we want to follow that truth then we'llhave
to fight for it, and it won't be easy. As soon as we dedicate our
lives to truth, we'll see obstacles appearing in our paths.
I don't mean physically fight (though that is sometimes the case). I
mean strive, struggle, workhard, deal with personal attacks and
naysayers, staypositive, find a way forward when the path appears to
be blocked, and refuse to give up!
If you want to pursue your dreams, you'll have to struggle. If you
want (halal) love in your life, if you want something real, ifyou want
to make something happen, well then brother and sister, you'll have to
strive with all your might. That's how it is.
"And those who strive in Our cause, We will surely guide them to Our
paths." – Quran, Al-Ankaboot, 29:69.

At Playground, Child Plus Lap Can Equal Danger

Last spring, Katie Dickman of Dunkirk, Md., was at the playground with
her 18-month-old toddler, Hannah, when the little girl asked to ride
down a twisting slide. Ms. Dickmanaccompanied her daughter, carefully
keeping the child on her lap as they coasted to the bottom.
But without warning, Hannah's sneaker caught on the side of the slide.
Although Ms. Dickman grabbed the leg and unstuck her daughter's foot,
by the time they reached the ground, the girl was whimpering and could
not walk. A doctor's visit later revealed a fractured tibia.
"My wife was just trying tokeep Hannah extra safe and make sure she
didn't fall," said Hannah's father, Jed Dickman. "She felt veryguilty
about it."
As the Dickmans soon learned, such injuries are surprisingly common.
Although nobody keeps national statistics, orthopedic specialists say
they treat a number of toddlers and young children each year with
broken legs as a result of riding down the slide on a parent's lap. A
study at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., found that
nearly 14 percent of pediatric leg fractures over an 11-month period
involved toddlers riding down the slide with a parent.
Dr. Edward Holt, the orthopedic surgeon at Anne Arundel Medical Center
in Annapolis who treated Hannah's injury last April, said that just
two weeks ago he treated a 4-year-old boy who had been injured going
down the slide with his father.
"This fracture is entirely preventable," said Dr. Holt, who has
created a warning poster for local pediatrician offices and a You Tube
video alerting parents to the hazard.
This may be one of those counterintuitive cases when a child is safer
by himself. If a foot gets caught while the child is sliding alone, he
can just stop moving or twist around until it comes free. But when a
child is sitting in an adult lap, the force ofthe adult's weight
behind him ends up breaking his leg/

Sahih Muslim

He was born in the town ofNishapur, in present day northeastern Iran,
into the Arab tribe of Qushair. His book is considered among Sunni
Muslims the most authentic collections of hadith, second only to Sahih
Bukhari.
Estimates on how many hadiths are in his books vary from 3,033 to
12,000, depending on whether duplicates are included, or whether the
text only or the isnad is also counted. The book is said to share
about 1900 hadiths with Bukhari's Sahih/

Major Sins

The major sins are those acts which have been forbidden by Allah in
the Quran and by His Messenger (SAW) in the Sunnah (practise of the
Prophet), and which have been made clear by the actions of of the
first righteous generation of Muslims, the Companions of the Prophet
(SAW).
There is some difference of opinion among scholars in this regard.
Some say thesemajor sins are seven, and in support of their position
they quote the tradition: 'Avoid the seven noxious things'- and after
having said this, the propeht (SAW) mentioned them: 'associating
anything with Allah; magic; killing one whom Allah has declared
inviolate without a just case, consuming the property of an orphan,
devouring usury, turning back when the army advances, and slandering
chaste women who are believers but indiscreet.' (Bukhari and Muslim)
'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas said: 'Seventy is closer to their number than
seven,' and inthis book Imam Dhabi goesthrough the 70 Major Sins
Supported by the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad
(SAW)The Author Muhammad binAhmad bin `Uthman bin Qaymaz at Turkamani,
Shams al-Din al-Dimashqi al-Dhahabi al-Shafi`i (673-748 AH), the imam,
Shaykh al-Islam, head of hadith masters, critic and expert examiner of
the hadith, encyclopedic historian and biographer, and foremost

Hadees

Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu, reported that the Messenger of Allah,
sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam,said:
"Do not be envious of one another; do not artificially inflate prices
against one another; do not hate one another; do not shun one another;
and do not undercut one another in business transactions; and be as
fellow-brothers and servants of Allah.
A Muslim is the brother of aMuslim. He neither oppresses him nor
humiliates him nor looks down upon him. Piety is here - and he pointed
to his chest three times. It is evil enough for a Muslim tohold his
brother Muslimin contempt. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for
another Muslim: his blood, his property and his honour."
