Women site - Travelling Women

Travel Without a Male Guardian
The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said:
"A woman must not travel alone without a mahram . No man may enter the
house of a woman unless there is a mahram with her."
A man stood up and asked Allah'sProphet (Peace be upon Him): "O
Messenger of Allah! My wife is going on Hajj ( pilgrimage), while I
want to participate in a battle, what should I do?" The Prophet of
Allah (Peace be upon Him) said:"Go out with her."
[Bukhari #1763]
For the protection of the person and honor of women, the Islamicrule
encompassed in this tradition forbids any woman, whether she be young
or old, single or married, to travel alone without ( mahram ) as a
travel companion. This man must be of those to whom she is permanently
prohibited to marry due to their close blood relationship, such as a
father, a brother, an uncle, an elder son ornephew after he has
reached puberty, or a husband, etc. Some people might say that this
regulation restricts the freedom of the woman and her basic rightof
movement. The purpose of this rule is not to prevent her ravel but to
free her from harm and molestation, and thus to maintain and preserve
her right of dignity.
Traveling entails many hardships and dangers, and since women are
physically weaker than men, and moreover she may have circumstances of
pregnancy, menses, nursing and childcare, orsome ailments, she is in
more need of help and service. Also women are generally more emotional
and impressionable; they are more susceptible to unscrupulous and
characterless men in search of victims. The Prophet of Allah (Peace be
upon Him) expressed this most eloquently when he said to a man singing
travel songs with a beautiful masculine voice in orderto help the
steady movement of the riding and pack animals, as per the custom of
travelers:
"Go gently, O Anjashah, you're urging on the delicate glassware."
[Bukhari #5857]
The phrase "delicate glassware" describes the fragileness and softness
of the women's nature, who were the riders in that caravan, easily
broken or disturbed.
There are, as we all know, wickedminded, evil and violent men who lurk
about and seek to take advantage of women whom they find susceptible,
gullible or traveling alone. Such wicked-minded men are of course
either interested in robbery, trickery, seduction, or rape. Therefore,
a woman is very much in need of someone to care for, protect and
fulfill her special needs while traveling, providing her the needed
security, service and attention to help her in the difficulties and
ward off strangers and potential predators. The "mahram" of a woman in
Islam protects and serves with utmost sincerity since this is a
natural obligation on him, rewarded by Allah (The Almighty).
We find that many civilizations have similar rules about escorting
women in travel, but often they allow other than the "mahram" to
escort her since they do not differentiate between a "mahram" and a
"non - mahram" in their cultures, which results in terrible stories.
Therefore, and upon this line of reasoning, forbidding a woman to
travel alone, and mandating a male escort who must be a "mahram" , is
not in any way a humiliating restriction or insult to her abilities,
but, in fact, is an honor that she is served, protected and given
companionship by a male escort who has to give her preference over his

On Honor Killings

In some traditional and tribal custom based societies, custom gives
the male such a dominant role that if the honor of his womenfolk are
perceived, even without proper verification, to have been violated by
an action of promiscuity on her part, the man kills her to protect his
honor. This situation has been hyped up in the media because some
unscrupulous people who continue to do this and others who allow it to
continue.
The answer to this is simple. To begin with, people are not allowed to
take the law into theirown hands and punish in this manner based on
unverified accusations of promiscuity, as the rules of testimony in
Islam are very strict. Therefore, this is a direct violation of the
Islamic law. If the court assesses the case as an outright
premeditatedmurder, after considering all circumstances and receiving
proofs conclusively, it becomes punishable by the Islamic law of
equity and retribution in cases of premeditated murder.
The unfortunate reality is that because secular laws are in place in
these countries, and because politicians appease tribal and other
leaders for political advantages, these unjust customs are allowed to
continue.If the Islamic laws were established and executed, the severe
punishments for fornication, adultery, murder, etc,would satisfy the
Muslim population; that justice has been done, and this would curtail
the sense of vengeance that one needs to have recourse to. - -

Women site - Wife Discipline

Allah, the Exalted, stated in the Glorious Qur'an:
(... As to those women on whose part you see ill-conduct, admonish
them (first), (next,) refuse to share their beds, (and last,) beat
them (lightly, if it is useful). But if they return to obedience, seek
not against themmeans (of annoyance). Surely, Allah is Most High, Most
Great.)

Islam forbids beating women and warns strictly against it. The Prophet
(Peace be upon Him) never beat any of his wives or servants, as his
wife Aishah (may Allah exalt their mention) reported in an authentic
tradition(Bukhari #2328). Women are, in general, weaker than men in
their physique and stamina. Women are often unable to defend
themselves against violence. Although beating of women is generally
forbidden, Islam permits the beating of wives in a restricted and
limited sense only as a final solution and acceptable valid reason
when all else fails. This is analogous to spanking children when all
else fails and they must learn a lessonin obedience for their own
protection and success.
In the verse we quoted, Allah deals with the case of a wife whobehaves
immorally towards her husband's rights. The treatment of this
extremely sensitive issue comes in gradual stages, as we have noticed
from the verse. Medicine, or treatment of any ailment, can be very
bitter at times. But an ill person will take the remedy gladly and
bear the bitterness of the medicine in order to be cured from his
illness.The remedy to treat a wife blameworthy of immoral behavior, as
we have noticed, comes in three gradual stages:
1. First stage: The stage of advice, counseling and warning
againstAllah's punishment. A husband must remind his wife of the
importance of protecting his rights in Islam. This stage is a very
kind and easy one. But, if this treatment does not work and proves to
be ineffective, then the husband may resort tothe next stage.
2. Second stage: To leave the wife's bed. Or, if one sleeps in the
same bed with her, he will turn his back to her, not touch her, talk
to her or have intercourse with her. This stage, as noticed, combines
both strictness and kindness, although it is a very harsh practice on
both. But, if this treatment does not work, then the husband may
resort to the final stage of discipline explained below.
3. Third and final stage: Beating without hurting, breaking a bone,
leaving black or blue marks on the body, and avoiding hitting the face
or especially sensitive places at any cost. The purpose of beating her
is only to discipline and never retaliation or with desire to hurt by
any means. Islam forbids severe beating as punishment.
The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said:
"None of you should beat his wifelike a slave-beating and then
haveintercourse with her at the end of the day".
[Bukhari #4908]
This treatment is proved to be very effective with two types of women,
as psychologists have determined:
The first type: Strong willed, demanding and commandeering women.
These are the type of women who like to control, master and run the
affairs of their husbands by pushing them around, commanding them and
giving them orders.
The second type: Submissive or subdued women. These women may even
enjoy being beaten at times as a sign of love and concern.
G. A. Holdfield , a European psychologist, in his book Psychology and
Morals states the following:
"The instinct of submission strengthens at times, in the human being
so much that a submissive person will enjoy seeing someone
overpowering him, over-ruling him and being cruel to him. Such a
submissive person bears the consequences of his submission due to the
fact that he enjoys the pain. This is a wide spread instinct amongst
women, even if they do not realize it. For this very reason, women are
well known for bearing more pain than men. A wife, from this type of
women, becomes more attracted and admiring of her husband when he
beats her. Nothing, on the other hand, will sadden some women, as much
as a soft, very kind and very obedient husband who is never upset
regardless of being challenged!"
Beating, according to the Islamic teachings, is listed as the last
andfinal stage of disciplining methods. Islam does not permit, allow
or even condone beating unless the first two stages are proven to be
ineffective. Moreover, beating must not be employed as a remedy, if a
wife prefers to be divorced.
The three stages of discipline stated in the verse of the
GloriousQur'an are only meant to be a means of discipline for the
protection of the family unit. One form of destruction of a family is
when the wife becomes a victim of divorce. Islam aims to relieve
unnecessary pains, problems and conflicts.
The practice of beating wives is inother non-Muslim societies is far
more brutal and frequent. Wife beatings in theses societies are often
with intent to inflict pain and harm to the wife; something strictly
prohibited in Islam as mentioned previously. Recent statistics show
that in Britain, the number of wives who have been brutally beaten by
their husbands has risen from 6,400 in 1990 to 30,000 in 1992. This
number jumped to 65,400 women in 1995. Statisticians expect this
number to double 124,400 towards the end of the twentieth century!
These statistics, as the report says, were based on information
gathered from the police department. But, what about theunreported
cases of wife beating,and the beating of women in general, which are
not reported!
Mrs. Annie Besant compared Islamic Laws and Western legislation on
women's rights and said:
"Islamic Laws are among the best laws known to the world, insofar as
woman is concerned. Itis the most fair and just legislation. It
exceeds the Western legislation concerning real estate, inheritance
and divorce laws. It acts as a guardianfor women's rights. Phrases
such as One Wife is Sufficient for a man, and Polygamy, mystified
people and turned them away from the real misery which Western women
suffer from and live through. Many husbands left their wives after
they got what they wanted from them. In fact such men show no care,
concern or mercy for their wives."

The claim that 'natural selection makes conscious selection' is one of the worst frauds in history

The idea that the strongsurvive by protecting themselves against
dangers in the natural environment, while the weak are overcome by
environmental conditions and dangers.
Darwinists reduce this to organs and structures.They maintain that if
mutations take place and a useful structure emerges as the result of
mutations, then that willnaturally be selected from among other,
unsuccessful structures, and that as a result of that selection
process the correct structures and organs will come into being.
They reject the idea of chance when it comes tothis subject. They say,
"Mutations come about by chance, but natural selection determines
theuseful outcome." They try to give the impression that a logical
thing is going on through the idea of the selection of the most useful
alternative from many possibilities.
Points that refute this claim:
It is impossible for any mutation to take place that benefits a living
thing or improves its physical structure. Mutations are 99%
deleterious and 1% haveno effect at all. No usefulmutation HAS EVER
BEEN OBSERVED. It is therefore impossible for "natural selection to
select on thebasis of useful mutations."
Natural selection is not a conscious mechanism. It has no
consciousness with which to select the best from the mutations that
arise.
Even if the most useful structure is selected by way of natural
selection,this state of affairs will still bestow no new structure on
a life form. Fast-running zebras survive while the weak are hunted
down, but this will never turn zebras into tigers.
It is impossible for natural selection to act according to a
pre-determined plan. That would be to claim that natural selection is
conscious. It is a grave error of logic to maintain that random,
unconscious events are actually conscious. But inorder to escape the
embarrassing effect of their claims of chance, Darwinists try to give
theimpression and deceive people into thinking that natural selection
is conscious.
Darwinists claim that natural selection must plan an organ such as the
eye before any such thing exists, know all its properties beforehand
and bring about all the requisite stages according to a plan WHILE
NEVER MAKING ANYERROR. It must act according to a specific plan,
making no errors, until an eye emerges. It must produce a succession
of perfect structures, create a brainthat sees the image and a
consciousness to interpret what it sees. And it must do all these
things simultaneously. It is of course impossible for unconscious
atoms todo this. But that is still what Darwinists insist onclaiming.
Darwinist confessions regarding natural selection
Charles Darwin:
The difficulties and objections may be classed under the following
heads: ... Secondly, is it possible that an animal having, for
instance, the structure and habits of a bat, could have been formed by
the modification of some other animal with widely different habits and
structure? Can we believe that natural selection could produce, on the
one hand, an organ of trifling importance, such as the tail of a
giraffe, which serves as a fly-flapper, and, on the other hand, an
organ so wonderful as the eye? (Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species,
Chapter VI, "Difficulties of the Theory.")
J. Hawkes:
I have difficulty in believing that the dazzling beauty in birds,
fish, flowers, etc., came about by natural selection. Beyond that, he
asks the question whether human consciousness can be theproduct of
such a mechanism. In his article, finally, he concludes that the human
mind that produced the blessings of civilization, and the creative
imagination that immortalized those such as Socrates, Leonardo da
Vinci, Shakespeare, Newton and Einstein cannot be the gift of the law
of the jungle called the "struggle for survival" tous. (J. Hawkes,
"Nine Tentalizing Mysteries of Nature," New York Times, no.33, 1957)
Dr. Colin Patterson:
No one has ever produced a [new] species by mechanisms of natural
selection. No one has ever got near it and most of the current
argument in neo-Darwinism is about this question. (Colin Patterson,
"Cladistics," BBC, Interview with Brian, Peter Franz, 4 March 1982.)
In the meantime, the educated public continues to believe thatDarwin
has provided all the relevant answers by the magic formula of random
mutations plus natural selection—quite unaware of the fact that random
mutations have turned out to be irrelevant and natural selection a
tautology. (Arthur Koestler, Janus : A Summing Up, Vintage Books,
1978, p.185)
Pierre Paul Grassé:
The "evolution in action" of J. Huxley and other biologists is
simplythe observation of demographic facts, local fluctuations of
genotypes, geographicaldistributions. Often the species concerned have
remained practically unchanged for hundredsof centuries! Fluctuation
as a result of circumstances, with prior modification of thegenome,
does not imply evolution, and we have tangible proof of this in many
panchronic species. (Pierre Paul Grassé, Evolution On Living
Organisms: Evidence for a New Theory of Information, Academic Press,

Verses in the Qur’an about justice

You who believe! be upholders of justice, bearing witness for
Allahalone , even against yourselves or your parents and relatives.
Whether they are rich orpoor, Allah is well able tolook after them. Do
not follow your own desires and deviate from the truth . If you twist
or turn away, Allah is aware of what you do. (Surat an-Nisa', 135)
Among those We have created there is a community who guide by the
Truth and act justly according to it . (Surat al-A'raf, 181)
… if you do judge, judge between them justly. Allah loves the just .

You who believe! show integrity for the sake of Allah, bearing witness
with justice. Do not let hatred for a people incite you into not
beingjust. Be just. That is closer to taqwa . Fear [and respect]
Allah. Allah is aware of what you do.(Surat al-Maida, 8)
Every nation has a Messenger and when their Messenger comes everything
is decided between them justly . They are not wronged. (Surah Yunus,
47)
We sent Our Messengers with the Clear Signs and sent down the Book and
the Balance with them so that mankind might establish justice . (Surat
al-Hadid, 25)
Say: " My Lord has commanded justice …" (Surat al-A 'raf, 29)
So call and go straight asyou have been ordered to. Do not follow
their whims and desires but say, 'I have iman in a Book sent down by
Allahand I am ordered to be just between you . Allah is our Lord and
your Lord. We have our actions and you have your actions. There is no
debate between us and you. Allah will gather us all together. He is
our final destination.' (Surat ash-Shura, 15)
Among those We have created there is a community who guide by the
Truth and act justly according to it . (Surat al-A 'raf, 181)
Those with faith, those who are Jews, and the Christians and Sabaeans,
all who believe in Allah and the Last Day and act rightly, will have
their reward with their Lord . They will feel no fear and will know no
sorrow. (Surat al-Baqara,62)
Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair admonition, and
argue with them in the kindest way. (Surat an-Nahl, 125)
Is it not likely that, if youdid turn away, you would cause corruption
in the earth and sever your ties of kinship? Such are the people Allah
has cursed, making them deaf and blinding their eyes. (Surah
Muhammad, 22-23)
Allah does not forbid you from being good to those who have not fought
you in the deen or driven you from your homes,or from being just
towards them. Allah loves those who are just . Allah merely forbids
you from taking as friends those who have fought you in the religion
and driven you from your homes and who supported your expulsion. Any
who take them as friends are wrongdoers. (Surat al-Mumtahana, 8-9)
As for those who reject Allah's Signs, and kill the Prophets without
any right to do so, and kill those who command justice, give them news
of a painful punishment.(Surah Al 'Imran, 21)

Advise with sincerity and kindness

The one who invites others to Allaah is from the closest people to
Allaah our Lord. In addition, Muslims collectively agree on the
importance of propagating Islam and inviting people to Allaah, and
many talk about it being mandatory upon Muslims, and we agree with
them, that it is an obligation, to enjoy that which is good and forbid
that which is eviland to spread chastity and fight immorality and
educate people and remind them and advise them.
Therefore, there is no doubt that one who invites to Allaah is a
chosen one, and form the best of his creatures. He loved Allaah,
responded to Him and invited to Him so in return Allaah loved him.That
is why Allaah Says in a short statement and made it very clear (what
means): "And who is betterin speech then he who invites to Allaah,
meaning, Islamic monotheism and does righteous deeds and says; `I am
one of the Muslims`" [Quran 41:33].
Al-Hasan Al-Basari, may Allaah have mercy uopon him, said afterhe has
recited the abovementioned verse: "This is the beloved one to Allaah,
this is the Waly of Allaah, meaning supported and loved by Allaah.
This is the chosen one by Allaah, this is the best of preachers to
Allaah this is the most dear from the dwellers of earth to Allaah. He
responded to Allaah and calledpeople to Allaah and acted righteously
while responding andcalling and said "I am from the Muslims""
To attain the level of this rank, it is necessary for the Muslim
missionary or propagator who is seeking the reward from Allaah to be
mindful of the following issues in order for the mission to be
fruitful:
1) Being sincere in the objective and intention: Sincerity is the
foremost of all deeds and certainly the most important of them all; it
is the foundation for all other deeds; it is the essence of Islaam and
the one of the principal matters that the prophets called their people
to. Allaah Says (what means): "And they [i.e. the People of the
Scripture] were not commanded except to worship Allaah, [being]
sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish
prayer and to give Zakaah. And that is the correct religion." [Quran
98:5]
Sincerity is the essence of worship; Imaam Ibn Hazm said: "The
relationship between sincerity and deeds is like that between the soul
and the body."
Sincerity is the basis upon which deeds are either accepted or
rejected, and thus it is the cause of one's ultimate success or
failure. Sincerity is the way leading to Hell for those who do not
fulfil it and the path to Paradise for those who can attainit.
Those who fulfil Islaamic monotheism are also referred to as the
sincere, and its Islaamic definition is as Imaam Ibn Al-Qayyim said:
"…To have only (the pleasure of) Allaah in one's intention whilst
performing acts of obedience."
The Prophet said: "Deeds are but with intentions." This is one of the
most important prophetic narrations from amongst all that the Prophet
taught us.
On the other hand, those who perform deeds in order to be seen by
others are dispraised by Allaah and are promised punishment, as Allaah
Says (whatmeans): "Whoever desires the lifeof this world and its
adornments – We fully repay them for their deeds therein, and they
therein will not be deprived. Those are the ones for whom there is not
inthe Hereafter but the Fire." [Quran 11:15-16]
Therefore, the Muslim propagatoror missionary does not call to gain a
personal benefit for himself, his people, his tribe or group.
Otherwise he will have no reward.
2) Being kind whilst calling people: Using the proper means leading to
the acheivement of theobjective is achieved by one following the way
of the Prophet . Alaah addresses the Prophet Saying (what means):
"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching and
argue with them in a way that is better". [Quran 16:125]. Some of the
people who are invited to theway of Allaah are good in nature, if they
recognize the truth they stick to it. They are thirsty and eager, and
as soon as one showsthem the truth, they hasten to it .Such a person
is to be invited with wisdom.
Regarding the method of calling people, Allaah Says in the above verse
(which means): " Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good
instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best…" [Quran
16:125] Thus, one should not be aggressive and harsh in the way he
calls people to Islam; rather he should use words that would soften
their hearts, so that they would yield to his instructions and pay
heed to his words. Allaahcommands us to be this way, even with the
disbelievers, when He says (what means): " And do not argue with the
People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those
who commit injustice among them…" [Quran 29: 46]
In our era, such wisdom, soft words and kindness when callingto the
path of Allaah are especially important. This is of course required in
all situations, but in a period in which ignorance and submitting to
desires has overwhelmed the masses, it becomes all the more essential.
Once, a scholar entered into the presence of an 'Abbaasi caliph and
said: "I am going to admonish you in a harsh manner,so listen." Upon
hearing this, the caliph said: "O brother! Be gentle,for I am not
worse than Pharaoh,and you are not better than Moosaa whom Allaah
addressed along with his brother, Haaroon, Saying (what means): "And
speak to him [i.e., Pharaoh] with gentle speech that perhaps he may be
reminded or fear [Allaah]."" [Quran 20: 44]
Furthermore, the Prophet said: "He who is deprived of gentleness and
forbearance is deprived from a great deal of goodness." `Aa'ishah
reported that the Prophet said: "Whenever forbearance is added to
something, it adorns it; and whenever it is withdrawn from something,

The Sunnah: The second source of legislation

The Sunnah (the actions, sayings and confirmations of Prophet
Muhammad, salallaahu alayhi wa sallam is the second source of Islamic
legislation and must be incomplete agreement with the first source (i.
e. the Quran).
The term Sunnah comes from theroot word 'sanna', which means to pave the way.
Sunnah can be used to describe a path that people follow. In Islamic
terminology, Sunnah applies to a prophetic way which includes
references to the Prophet's sayings, actions, approvals, physical
features and character traits.
His actions pertain to anything hedid, as authentically reported by
the Companions . His silent approvals on different issues meant he
didn't oppose or mind what he saw, heard or knew of the actions or
sayings of his Companions. Sunnah also includes everything
authentically narrated concerning the Prophet's physical features and
his traits.
The Quran and the Sunnah complement each other. Withoutthe Sunnah,
Islam is not complete, likewise without the Quran, Islam is not
complete.
Actually, Sunnah is so important that without it one cannot fully
understand the Quran and Islam, or be able to apply it to his life.
Both of these sources guide us tothe right path.
The Quran is the word of Allah, whereas the Sunnah is its practical
interpretation. Sunnah also gives a full account of the lifeof the
Prophet salallaahu alayhi wa sallam.
The Quran principally deals with basics. It is the Sunnah which gives
the details and necessary explanations of Quranic injunctions. For
instance, Allaah Says in the Quran what means: "…Establish the
prayer…" [2: 43] But it does not specify how the prayer has to be
performed.
Even after knowing the details, it may not be possible to follow
thedivine injunctions contained in the Quran. For not everything canbe
properly understood by wordsalone. Therefore, the Messenger of Allaah
salallaahu alayhi wa sallam demonstrated before the believers how the
prayer was to be performed.
Thus, not only did the Prophet salallaahu alayhi wa sallam inform the
believers of the divine injunctions, but he also put theseteachings
into practice in all matters pertaining to religion and daily life. He
salallaahu alayhi wa sallam himself practiced these injunctions
scrupulously. His practice was not a private matter; it had the status
of a detailed interpretation and application of the Quran.
Importance of the Sunnah
The Quran repeatedly reminds us of the importance of the Sunnah,
enjoining us to strictly follow the Prophet salallaahu alayhi wa
sallam.
Allaah, Almighty, Says what means: " …And whatever the Messenger has
given you – take; and what he has forbidden you – refrain from…"
[Quran 59:7]
Allaah also Says what means: "But no, by your Lord, they will not
[truly] believe until they makeyou [O Muhammad] judge concerning that
over which they dispute among themselves and then find within
themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in
[full, willing] submission.." [Quran 4:65)
Again, Allaah Says what means: "It is not for a believing man or a
believing woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decided amatter,
that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And
whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into
clear error." [Quran 33:36]
According to many verses in the Quran, the Muslim is bound to follow
the Sunnah of the Prophet salallaahu alayhi wa sallam. No one remains
Muslim if he does not accept the Prophet's Sunnah, salallaahu alayhi
wa sallam.
The Sunnah is nothing but a reflection of the personality of the
Prophet salallaahu alayhi wa sallam, who is to be obeyed at every
cost.
The Sunnah was not, as is generally supposed, a thing of which the
need may have been felt only after the Prophet's deathsalallaahu
alayhi wa sallam, for it was very much needed in his lifetime. The two
most importantreligious institutions of Islam are Prayer and Zakaat
(obligatory alms giving); yet when the injunction relating to Prayer
and Zakaat were delivered, and they were repeatedly revealed in both
Makkah and Madeenah, no detailswere supplied. 'Keep up prayers' is the
Quranic injunction, and it was the Prophet himself salallaahu alayhi
wa sallam who by his own actions gave details ofthe prayer by saying:
"Pray as you see me praying." [Al-Bukhaari]
Zakaah is again an obligation frequently repeated in the Quran, yet it
was the Prophet salallaahu alayhi wa sallam who gave the rules and
regulations for its payment and collection. These are two examples,
but since Islam covers the entire sphere of human activities, hundreds
of points had to be explained by theProphet salallaahu alayhi wa
sallam in word and deed.
The importance of the Sunnah, even as a second source of Islam, was an
openly accepted issue by the Companions of the Prophet salallaahu
alayhi wa sallam. Whenever they couldn't find a solution to a problem
in the Quran, they would refer to the Sunnah. And they were the most
diligent in preserving it for those who came after them.

Keep away from enmity

The Muslim has a mission in his life, and is required to be effective,
active, tolerant and social, mixing with other people and dealing with
them with tolerance and in accordance with the worthy Islamic
attitudes and behavior.
Allaah Almighty Says (what means): "And hold fast, all of you
together, to the Rope of Allaah (i.e. the Quran), and be not divided
among yourselves, and remember Allaah's Favour on you, for you were
enemies one toanther but He joined your hearts together, so that, by
His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic faith), and you were on the
brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it…" ] Quran 3:103]
Wherever the Muslim is found, hebecomes a beacon of guidance, and a
positive source of correction and education, through both his words
and deeds.
He has a good attitude towards others and treats them well. He isof
good and noble character, friendly, humble, gentle of speech and
tactful. He likes others and is liked by them. By doing so, he is
following the example of the Prophet as Anas reported that he was:
"The best of people in his attitude towards others." [Al-Bukhaari and
Muslim]
When a quarrel intensifies, when its roots go deeper, its thorns
become branches and branches increase in number, then the freshness of
the fruits of faith is adversely affected. Softness, sympathy,
satisfaction and peace,which are encouraged by the Islamic teachings,
receive a setback.
Performance of worship loses its righteousness, while the self getsno
benefit from it.
Many a time mutual quarrels perturb the persons who claim tobe wise.
When this happens, theytake recourse to lowly and superficial things,
and sometimesindulge in dangerous acts which only increase
difficulties and bring troubles. When a man is displeased, his eyes
become prejudiced and ignore the camel and object to gnat. Such eyes
do not appreciate the beauty of the peacock, for they only see its
uglyfeet and claws. If a slight defect is present, it turns the
molehill into a mountain. And sometimes the internal rancor and
jealousy affect them so badly that no hesitation is felt in inventing
imaginary stories.
Islam disapproves of all these manifestations of ill-feeling and
advises to abstain from them. It declares their avoidance as the most
virtuous form of worship.
The Prophet said: "Listen, mayI tell you something more important than
the fasting, the prayer and charity?" The people requested him to do
so. He said: "To keep the mutual relationship on the right footing,
because the defect in the mutual relationship is a thing which shaves
a thing clean. I do not mean that it shaves the hair, but that it
shaves (removes) the religion." [At-Tirmithi]
Many a time, Satan is not able to persuade wise men to worship idols,
but since he is very keen onmisguiding and ruining men, he manages to
succeed in driving them away from Allaah, so much so that these wise
men become more indifferent in respecting the rights of Allaah than
the idolaters themselves. The best method adopted by the devil for
this purpose is to sow the seeds of enmity in the hearts of the
people. When this enmity develops into a fire and open hostilities
result, he enjoys the scene. This fire burns man's present and future
into ashes and totally destroys their relationship and virtues.
The Messenger of Allaah said: "The Satan has been disappointed that he
would not be worshipped in the Arabian Peninsula, but he has not been
disappointed from kindling the fire of fighting among the people."
[Muslim]
It means that when wickedness takes roots in the hearts, when people
start hating love and brotherhood, and when these aredestroyed, people
then revert to cruelty and enmity, and break all those relations and
links which Allaah has commanded to be kept; thus spreading corruption
on this earth.
In order to remedy this disease, the most wonderful thing in a quarrel
is to forget it as it had never happened, because remembering it will
never be a sort of pleasure, while forgetting it will never be
harmless, and a good word is stronger than swords and spears.
Imaam Ibn Al-Qayyim said:"The origin of the enmity, evil and envy that
occurs between people is from the following of Al-Hawaa (the lowly
desire). The one who opposes his desire relieves his heart, body and
limbs, putting himself to ease and thus relieves others. Abu Bakr
Al-Warraak said: "When the desire prevails, the heart turns dark and
when it does so, the breast becomes straitened and when that happens,
the moral character deteriorates and consequently people will hate him
and he will hate them. Then think of the evil, enmity, neglect of
rights, etc. that arise from this mutual hatred."

What should he do about his paternal uncle who unlawfully took his house that he inherited from his father, and he cannot do anything about it?.

My father had full ownership of an expensive house in Pakistan. About
10 years ago, when I was 10 years old, he had passed away, and I have
been raised by a single mother. Our financial conditions are worsening
as my education needs are growing. However, my fathers brother had
taken the house unlawfully and has been living in there since my
father's death. Whenever my mother would ask for our house back, he
would threaten to humiliate her and destroy her. Since I had moved to
Canada right after my father's death, I'm not familiar with the laws
and authorities in Pakistan, and since Pakistan is failing to govern
itself, it has poor controls of policing and other enforcement
agencies. Also, since my uncle is a very dangerous person, I am afraid
of what he would do if I go there and try to take my property back. My
question is that, in such dangerous circumstances, am I still obliged
to take my rightful property? And if yes, are there any suggestions on
how I should go about doing so?
Praise be to Allah.
Firstly:
What your uncle has done with this act of transgression – if what you
say is true – is a grave major sin. The inheritance must be given
after the death of the deceased to the legitimate heirs without any
wrongdoing or transgression. Allah, mayHe be exalted, said after
mentioning the shares of inheritance in His Book and after giving each
one who is entitledto a share his rightful share (interpretation of
the meaning):
"These are the limits (set by) Allah (or ordainments as regards laws
of inheritance), andwhosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad
SAW) will be admitted to Gardens under which rivers flow (in
Paradise), to abide therein, and that will be the great success.
And whosoever disobeysAllah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and
transgresses His limits, He will cast him into the Fire, to abide
therein; and he shall have a disgraceful torment."
[an-Nisa' 4:13, 14].
What is meant is: these details about shares of inheritance are the
limits set by Allah, which must be adhered to and not transgressed.
Tafseer as-Sa'di, p. 170.
Your uncle has no right to the inheritance at all, because he is
blocked from inheriting by you. Brothers and sisters do not inherit
anything when there is a child of the deceased.
Undoubtedly the right tothe house is yours, and itis within your
rights to try to get possession of itby all possible means.
But if the situation is as described, that the government's authority
in such cases is weak and you have little support or help, and
youthink it most likely that your uncle is dangerous and that he will
never give you your house except with a great deal of trouble or he
will harm you or your mother, or the like, then you do not have to try
toget it back when the situation is as described. Rather you should be
patient in the hope that Allah will give you relief and a way out, or
until you gain the power to kick him out by the help of Allah. Do not
expose yourself to trouble that you cannot bear; rather delegate the
matter to trustworthy lawyers you can trust to help you by legal
means. If that is notpossible and you give upyour rights for fear of
further harm, there is noblame on you and you do not have to try to
take it back at all.
Imam Muslim narrated inhis Saheeh (201) that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah
be pleased with him) said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah
(blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of
Allah, what do you think if a man comes and wants to take my wealth?
He said: "Do not give him your wealth!" He said: What if he fightsme?
He said: "Fight him back." He said: What if he kills me? He said:
"Then you will be a martyr." He said: What if I kill him? He said: "He
will be in Hell."
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
This is what the fuqaha' call an assailant, who is awrongdoer with no
justification for his wrongdoing. If what he wants is the wealth, it
is permissible to ward him off by any possible means. If he cannot be
warded off except by fighting, then he should be fought, but if one
does not want to fight and gives up some of thewealth, that is
permissible. But if what he wants is to commit animmoral action – such
as if he wants to commit zina with a man's mahram, or he wants to
commit indecent acts with a woman or a slave and the like – then it is
obligatory to protect oneself by any possible means, even by
fighting,and it is not permissible to allow him to do that under any
circumstances. This is different from wealth, which it is permissible
tolet him take, because allowing him to take wealth is permissible
butallowing him to commit indecent acts with oneself or one's mahrams
is not permissible.
End quote from as-Siyaasah ash-Shar'iyyah, 71.
Imam an-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Protecting wealth
is permissible butnot obligatory. With regard to the words of the
Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), "Do not give it to
him," what is meantis: you do not have to give it to him; it does
notmean that it is haraam to give it to him.
End quote from Sharh Muslim by an-Nawawi, 11/202
If you lose any of your rights and are not able to get them in this
world, then you have an issue to settle with the one who has wronged
you, and that will benefit you, in sha Allah, on the Day when there
will be neither dirhams nor dinars (i.e., no money or wealth), and
there will only be good deeds and bad deeds.
Al-Bukhaari (2449) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased
with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah
be upon him) said: "Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his
honour or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today, before
there will be no dinar and no dirham, and if he has any good deeds to
his credit they will be taken from him in a manner commensurate with
the wrong he did, and if he has no good deeds, thensome of his
counterpart's bad deeds will be taken and added to his burden."

What is the ruling on paying membership feesto Islamic societies and centres in Western countries?.

I want to join an islamic society in europe. This society includes a
mosque and dars.
The shura demands a membership fee. Is this halal?
Praise be to Allah.
If the situation is as described, there is nothing wrong with paying
the fees demanded by the societyand this is their right. If the one
who pays the fee intends, in addition to benefiting from the
activities, that what he pays is to support that society, then he will
be rewarded for that intention, in sha Allah, especially since the
Islamic societies and centres in Western countries are doing important
work, such as teaching the Muslims about their religion and striving
to spread Islam in those countries. They provide a good environment
for the Muslims there, so supporting them financially and in other
ways comes under the heading of calling people to Allah.

Islamic Stories, - Story of a pious woman at the time of Ferawoon

On the Prophet Muhammad's (sul Allahu alayhi wassalaam) Night Journey
to Jerusalem:
The Prophet (sul Allahu alayhi wassalaam) smelled a very nice odor.He
asked Jibril about thispleasant scent and Jibril informed him this
good smell was coming from the grave of the woman whose duty used to
be to comb Pharaoh's daughter's hair.
This woman was a good,pious believer. One day, as she was combing
Pharaoh's daughter's hair, the comb fell from her hand. At this she
said, "Bismillah." Pharaoh's daughter asked her, "Do you have a god
other than my father?" The woman said, "Yes. My Lord and the Lord of
your father isAllah." Pharaoh's daughter told her father what had
happened. Pharaoh demanded this woman blaspheme and leave Islam, but
she refused. At that, Pharaohthreatened to kill her children.
He brought a great pot of water and built a great fire under it.
Whenthe water boiled, Pharaoh brought her children and started to drop
them into that pot one after the other. Throughout all this, the woman
remained steadfast to Islam, even when Pharaoh reached her youngest
child--a little boy still breast feeding--but she felt pityfor him. At
that, Allah enabled this child to speak. He said to his mother, "O
Mother, be patient. The torture of the Hereafter is far moresevere
than the torture of this life, and do not be reluctant, because you
are right."
At this the woman requested Pharaoh collect her bones and the bones of
her children and bury them in the same grave. Pharaoh promised her
that--then dropped her into that boiling water. She died as a martyr.
The good odor the Prophet (sul Allahu alayhi wassalaam) smelled coming
from hergrave is an indication of her high status.
