*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

People rotating the misbaah (tasbeeh: beads) in their hands while
talkingto others, claiming that they are doing the Adhkaarinternally,
has become a common sight.
Let us get the point straight: doing the Adhkaar(singl. Dhikr like
saying: Laailaaha illallaah, Allaahu Akbar, Subhaan-Allaah etc) is
from the action of the tongue, and not the heart; whereas the action
of the heart consists of Imaan (Belief), Taqwa (Fear of Allaah), Hope,
Shyness etc. and not the other way around....

:- a Defenition:

we have already stated that doing Dhikr like saying: Laa ilaaha

Allah First

Allah first, glorified and exalted be He. Not career, money, savings,
stocks, investments, 401K, IRA. Allah first. Not family, because we
cannot serve our families well unless we serve Allah first. Not
culture, nationality, "race", caste, tribe, clan, lineage, social
status (all of which are utterly meaningless).
Allah first. Not material, shopping, sales – people get up early for a
sale but can't wake up for Allah – smart phone, internet, computer.
Allah, Allah, Allah first. Not movies, shows, fake celebrities who are
worshiped like idols. Not sports teams, city, school, neighborhood.
Only when we put Allah first canwe stay that we have understood "Laa
ilaha il-Allah" (there is no God but Allah) – thissimple sentence and
testimony of faith, over which Prophets have been killed, believers
persecuted, and which has been so little understood even by Muslims.
This Laa ilaha il-Allah was the call of every Prophet and Messenger
from time immemorial. Allah says about it,
"…and know that Laa ilaaha ill Allah (there is no deity worthy of
worship but Allah)…" [Quran47:19, 20:8, 3:18, 59:22-3]
And Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri said, that the Messenger of Allah (S) said:
"Moses (AS) said: 'O Lord! Teach me something that I can remember You
with and I can supplicate You with'. He (Allah Ta'ala) said: 'Say 'Laa
ilaaha ill Allah', O Musaa'. He (Musaa) said:'All of your servants say
this'. He (Allah) said: 'If the seven Heavens and those who dwell
inthem other than Me and the seven Earths are put into one pan (of the
scale) and 'Laa ilaaha ill Allaah' is put into the other; 'Laa ilaaha
ill Allah' would be heavier.'" [Ibn Hibbaan and Haakim]
Laa ilaha il-Allah is the stuff of legends. It is the calling card of
the Eternal Prime Mover. It has rights over us. It's a contract,
anoath, a promise to love Allah before the people, fear Allah more
than the people, and to ask ourselves in every situation, "What does
Allah want me to dohere?" It's a vow to trust Allah before the people,
call upon Allah in times of hardship, thankAllah in times of plenty,
and know in our bones that our return is to Him.

Question Its believed that certain events will happen before actual coming of JudgmentDay e.g. sun rising from west, beast, smoke, landslides… But what do these events have to do with actual Judgment Day& the decision of whether one will go to heaven

Question
Its believed that certain events will happen before actual coming of
JudgmentDay e.g. sun rising from west, beast, smoke, landslides… But
what do these events have to do with actual Judgment Day& the decision
of whether one will go to heaven OR hell, which depends upon aperson's
deeds,
:->
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify
that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad
is His slave and Messenger.
There is no doubt that what will be taken into account in regard to
the Hereafter are the deeds of the person; if he did good deeds, he
will find good and if he did evil deeds, he will find evil. Allaah
Says (what means): { Then as forone whose scales are heavy [with good
deeds]. He will be in a pleasant life. But as for one, whose scales are
light. His refuge will be an abyss. And what can make you know what
that is? It is a Fire, intensely hot. } [Quran 101:6-11]
However, among the signs of the Hour, there are somesigns that will
have an effect on the human being and his acts, among which are the
(supernatural) acts that the Dajjaal ( the Anti-Christ ) will perform
which will tempt some people. It is for this reason that the Prophet
ordered us to seek refuge (with Allaah) from the trialsof the Dajjaal.
The same thing applies to the rising of the sun from the west. When
the sun rises from the west, the door of repentance will be closed and
the belief of those who profess belief atthat time (i.e. upon seeing
the signs) would not be accepted from them. It is confirmed that Abu
Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet said: '' The Hour will not come
until the sun rises from the west, and when it rises from the west and
the people see it, they will all affirm their faith but that time is a
time when no soul will benefit from its faith (as long as it had not
believed previously), and he recited the verse in which Allaah Says
(what means): } The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come
no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed
before or had earned through its faith some good. Say, "Wait. Indeed,
we [also] are waiting. " }[Quran 6:158] [Al-Bukhaariand Muslim]
Allaah Knows best.

Taste of summer

"This time, it's hotter than last year," that's what everyone is
saying these days. And this time, it is no exaggeration. Soaring
temperatures are leading to cases of heat exhaustion– a rarity here.
But don't letthose television commercials fool you into buying fizzy
drinks to quench your thirst. What you eat and drink need notalways
cool you.
Drink water
Liquids in the form of water and fresh juices trump everything else in
extreme heat. Mini Mary Prakash, chief clinical dietician, PRS
Hospital, adds that it would do goodto up one's water intake from the
usual two litres toanywhere between 3.5 andfour litres: "Green tea is
recommended instead of regular tea as it has less caffeine. Alcoholic
beverages, chilled drinks, even iced tea won't help asthey have a
diuretic effect, leading to more loss of water from the body. Chilled
drinks constrict the blood vessels and obstruct sweat."
She also advises adding a few sprigs of mint to one's early morning
cup of greentea. "That's no substitute for water," says Jayasree N.S.,
senior dietician, KIMS. "One can drink up to 15 glasses of water every
day." She adds: "Coffee beyond the normal limit will only add to the
heat asit contains caffeine. Chocolates also increases body heat,"
says Jayasree.
Milk, that too low-fat, and curd, also in variations like buttermilk,
are recommended as it also provides calcium. Tomato juice is also
great for the weather as it provides lycopene. "Lycopene helps repair
the body's tissues. Cucumber, musk melons orwater melons are good
tooas they are high in water content." Those looking to lose weight
should skip thesugar when drinking juices."It is good if those dieting
do not substitute fruit juicefor water as it can lead to weight gain,"
says Mini.
Jayasree points out that people can help themselves best by avoiding
foods with fat content: "Avoid snacking on puff pastries, cake, things
of that sort as they will surely have fattening ingredients such as
butter or ghee to help increase taste and texture. Fried food such as
chips and puris should not be had either."
Red meats are a strict no-no, while chicken and fish are still better,
though again not fried. "Everythingwe have for a sadya is acceptable.
As for vegetarians, it is importantto keep having pulses."
Mini says the summer is also the season when people tend to contract
food-borne illnesses. "Vendors add ice to fruit juices. This may not
alwaysbe hygienic. Yoghurt contains probiotic bacteria that decreases
chances of food-borne infections. It should be made a part of one's
daily diet."
Save dry fruits like dates, figs and apricots for winter."The absence
of water in them will only make one thirsty. Also avoid sugary foods
or anything with honey or molasses as they will make one thirsty and
tired. Ice cream and beer, though summer favourites, have a temporary
cooling effect on the body. Food that is too salty or spicy adds to
the discomfort as they generate heat," Mini says.
Both dieticians agree on the goodness of vegetarianfood in summer.
"Christiansobserve Lent in summer. It is a time when the community
follows a vegetarian diet. This has health benefits too," adds Mini.
For those who didn't know,Mini says cardamom, gooseberry, papaya,
mushroom and pomegranate compromise 'cooling' foods too. Mango, she
adds, increases heat: "Ifyou are really craving mangoes, put them in
water overnight and then have them as it absorbs the heat."
So now that you know, bring more of the right food into your diet to
stay cool during summer.

The Third Caliph, Uthman(644-656 A.C.) "Every Prophet has an assistant, and my assistant will be Uthman."(Hadeeth)

Uthman's Election
When 'Umar fell under the assassin's dagger, before he diedthe people
asked him to nominate his successor. 'Umar appointed a committee
consisting of six of the ten companions of the Prophet (peace be on
him) about whom the Prophet had said, "They are the people of Heaven"
- Ali, Uthman, Abdul Rahman, Sa'ad, Al-Zubayr and Talha - to select
thenext Caliph from among themselves. He also outlined the procedure
to be followed if any differences of opinion should arise. Abdul
Rahman withdrew his name. He was then authorized by the committee to
nominate the Caliph. After two days of discussion among the candidates
and after the opinions of the Muslims in Medina had been ascertained,
the choice was finally limited to Uthman and Ali. Abdul Rahman came to
the mosque together with other Muslims, and after a brief speech and
questioning of the two men, swore allegiance toUthman. All those
present did thesame, and Uthman became the third Caliph of Islam in
the monthof Muharram, 24 A.H.
Uthman's Life
Uthman bin Affan was born seven years after the Holy Prophet (peace be
on him). He belonged to the Omayyad branchof the Quraish tribe. He
learned to read and write at an early age,and as a young man became a
successful merchant. Even beforeIslam Uthman had been noted for his
truthfulness and integrity. He and Abu Bakr were close friends, and it
was Abu Bakr whobrought him to Islam when he was thirty-four years of
age. Some years later he married the Prophet's second daughter,
Ruqayya. In spite of his wealth and position, his relatives subjected
him to torture becausehe had embraced Islam, and he was forced to
emigrate to Abyssinia. Some time later he returned to Mecca but soon
migrated to Medina with the other Muslims. In Medina his business
again began to flourish and he regained his former prosperity.
Uthman's generosity had no limits. On various occasions he spent a
great portion of his wealth for the welfare of the Muslims, for
charity and for equipping the Muslim armies. That is why he came to be
known as 'Ghani' meaning 'Generous.'
Uthman's wife, Ruqayya was seriously ill just before the Battle of
Badr and he was excused by the Prophet (peace be on him) from
participating in the battle. The illness Ruqayya proved fatal, leaving
Uthman deeply grieved. The Prophet was moved and offered Uthman the
hand of another of his daughters, Kulthum. Because he had the high
privilege of having two daughters of the Prophet as wives Uthman was
known as 'The Possessor of the Two Lights.'
Uthman participated in the Battles of Uhud and the Trench. After the
encounter of the Trench, the Prophet (peace be onhim) determined to
perform Hajj and sent Uthman as his emissary to the Quraish in Mecca,
who detained him. The episode endedin a treaty with the Meccans known
as the Treaty of Hudaibiya.
The portrait we have of Uthman is of an unassuming, honest, mild,
generous and very kindly man, noted especially for his modesty and his
piety. He often spent part of the night in prayer, fasted every second
or third day, performed hajj every year, and looked after the needy of
the whole community. In spite of his wealth, he lived very simply and
slept on bare sand in the courtyard of the Prophet's mosque. Uthman
knew the Qur'an from memory and had an intimate knowledge of the
context and circumstances relating to each verse.
Uthman's Caliphate
During Uthman's rule the characteristics of Abu Bakr's and Umar's
caliphates - impartial justice for all, mild and humane policies,
striving in the path of God, and the expansion of Islam -continued.
Uthman's realm extended in the west to Morocco,in the east to
Afghanistan, and inthe north to Armenia and Azerbaijan. During his
caliphate anavy was organized, administrative divisions of the state
were revised, and many public projects were expanded and completed.
Uthman sent prominent Companions of the Prophet (peace be on him) as
his personal deputies to various provinces to scrutinize the conduct
of officials and the condition of the people.
Uthman's most notable contribution to the religion of God was the
compilation of a complete and authoritative text of the Qur'an. A
large number of copies of this text were made and distributed all over
the Muslim world.

Hadees

Rasul (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: "When one of you looks at
one who stands at a higherlevel than you in regard to wealth and
physical structure he should also see one who stands at a lower level
than you in regard to these things." [Muslim]
Comparing ourselves to people whom Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) has given
better looks to, moremoney to, nicer possessions to, better education
to, higher status to, etc., is a common cause for our showing
ingratitude to Allah. We then automatically discard the blessings that
Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) has bestowed on us and can think of only
that which we are lacking and someone else has. There will always be
something more that we could have.
However, Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) is the Originator of all
Good/Khair. Nothing comes from Him that is notgood. Therefore, we
shouldnot have the attitude, that when we see ourselves having the
blessings of thisworld we say, "Rabbi akraman" (Allah has blessed/
honoured me) and when we face anything lacking in our lives we
say,"Rabbi ahanun" (Allah has humiliated me). A believer always says
"Rabbi akraman" only, since in his or her every affair Allah is
honouring them.
Human beings are greedy and ungrateful by nature. Rasul Allah (sal
Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us that even if we were given two
valleys full of gold we would wish for a third and there would be no
end to our greed till we died. Therefore, the advice of theProphet
(sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) makes perfect sense that whenever we get
to see people who have more or better than what we have, we should
immediately look at those people too who have less or worse than what
we have. Only then will we be able to remain thankful to Allah
(subhana wa ta'ala).
