Dua Ma'arij

* [Allama Kafmi has written this dua'a in his book Misbah, on the
authority of Imam Ali ibna abi Talib who learned it from the Holy
Prophet.The Holy Prophet said:"Allah will have mercy on him who keeps
this dua'a as a tawid, and recites it a great deal. He will forgive
his sins and the sins of parents and his children, bestow on him
countless blessings, keep him safe from misfortunes, multiply his
earnings, and cure his ailments."To improve and develop memory write
the (Arabic) text of this dua'a on a clean piece of paper with
saffron,wash it with pure water and drink it.Hang the written (Arabic)
text of this dua'a (like a tawid) around the neck of children to keep
them safe from wild and poisonous animals, and the evil of witchcraft
and jinn.It is reported that at the time of mi-raj the Holy Prophet
saw this dua'a written at the last post, qaaba qawsayn aw adnaa. Allah
swt. informed him that whosoever recites this heavenly dua'a or keeps
it written version on his person, will get countless blessings.]

ALLAHUMMA S'ALE A'LAA MUHAMMAD WA AALE MUHAMMAD
O Allah I beseech You.
O He with whom remain firmly
attached all the worshippers,
O He before whom all the
praiseworthy bow down and pay tribute,
O He unto whom all the tired and the
oppressed cry for help,
O He who is besought for fulfillment
of needs by all those whoare deprived,
O He who does not send away any
supplicant disappionted,
O He whose door is nevershut up for the beseechers,
O He who is indescribeable and indefinable,
O He in whose bestowals there is no let-up,
and they are not little norscanty,
O He who is not out of the reach of prayers;
and is the best destination,
O He whose servants tie their hopes with (His) rope,
O He like unto whom,
there is no one, and no one is comparable to Him,
O He who was not begotten, nor begets,
O He whose bounties andfavours are innumerable,
O He whose overflowing reservoir of
good is kept open for mankind,
O He to whom standing up
(wakefulness) and sittingdown
(rest) cannot be attributed,
O He who urges his gifts and presents
to reach the created beings,
O He who is not circumstanced by
movement or stillness (inaction),
O Allah, O beneficent, O merciful, O loving friend,
O He who took pity on the aging Yaqub,
O He who overlooked themistake of Dawud,
O He who does not break His word and
forgives those whom forgiveness has been assured,
O He who gives livelihoodand covers
the misdeeds of the creatures to
their full satisfaction,
O He who gives asylum toall the
persecuted victims of revenge,
O He to come nearer to whom all
creatures lay with the face
downward on the ground in abject submission,
O He from whose beneficence not a
single (living) soul is keptaway,
O He who does not rule unjustly, nor
shows mercy to the headstrong tryants,
have mercy on the petty transgressors
who did not carry out their obligations.
Verily You do whatever You will,
O Truthful. O Loving,
send blessings on Muhammad, the
best Mesenger, who called attention
(of all) to the best worshippable,
and on his descendants, pious, pure,
generous and liberal, anddo well for
me as it is worthy of You,
O the most merciful, O themost generous./

SOME GOOD SUPPLICATIONS.
-
1. On getting up from sleep: "Al-Hamdu Lil-Laahil Lazee Ahyaanaa Ba'da
Maaa Amaatanaa wa Ilaie-hin Nushoor" (All praise is due to Allah Who
has given us life [made us wake up] after death [sleep] and every one
has to return to Him).
2. Before taking meal:"Bismil Laa Hir-Rahmaanir Raheem. Allaa-hummaa
Baarik Lanaa Feehi wa AbdilnaaKhaieram Minh" (Allah, in whose name I
begin, the Most Affectionate, the Most Merciful. O1 Allah! Give us
blessing in it and feed us better than it.
3. After finishing meal:"Al-Hamdu Lil-Laahil Lazee At'amanaa wa
Saqaanaa wa Ja'alana Minal Muslemeen" (All praise is due to Allah Who
has blessed us with food and drink and made us Muslim).
4. On putting on new dress: "Al-Hamdu Lil-Laahil Lazee KasaaneeHaazaa
wa Razaqaneehi Min Ghaiere Haulim Minnee wa Laa Quwwah"(All praise is
due to Allah Who has clothed us and blessed us despite our
helplessness).
5. On looking into mirror: "Allaa-humma Baie-yid Wajhee Yauma Tabyaddu
Wujoohoon wa Taswaddu Wujooh" (O' Allah! grace my face with light on
the day [Doomsday] when some faces will be full of light and some
dark).
6. On applying antimony (collyrium) to eyes:"Allaa-humma
Mat-ti'neeBis-Sam'i wal Basar" (O' Allah! bless my hearing and sight
faculties).
7. Repeat Kalimah Tay-yib or Kalimah Shahaadat after every prayer, it
will earn you a great reward.
8. If you like or love any thing of your own or of your Muslim brother
say"Tabaarakal Laahu Ahsanul Khaaleqeen. Allaa-humma Baarik Lahu Feehi
wa Laa Tadurrah" (O' Allah! blesshim in it so that it may not harm
him), or say"May Allah bless you" it will save him from evil eye.
9. Recite this Du'aa on seeing a thing which you dislike or
consider"bad omen":"Allaa-humma Laa Ya'til-Hasanaati Illaa Anta wa Laa
Yadfa'us Saie-ati Illaa Anta wa Laa Haula wa Laa Quwwata Illaa
Bil-Laah" (O' Allah! there is none except You Who could give us good
and there is none but You Who could save us from evil and there is no
might and power but in Allah).
10. Recite this Du'aa when you see one in affliction or ill:"Al-Hamdu
Lil-Laahil Lazee 'Aafaanee Mimmabtalaaka Bihee wa Faddalanee 'Alaa
Kaseerim Mimman Khalaqa Tafdeelaa" (All praise is due to Allah Who has
saved me from the affliction which you are faced with and favoured me

HELL

HELL

Q1: What is hell?
A. Allah Almighty has created a dreadful place for the chastisement
andpunishment of infidels, disbelievers and sinners which is
called"Jahannam" (hell). It has seventy thousand dangerous and
horrendous valleys with each valley having seventy thousand
similarhorrid dells and pits. These valleys, dells and pits are
infested with innumerable frightful scorpions, serpents and dragons.
Q 2: What is in hell?
A. There are varied torments in hell. It is dreadful even to think
ofthe torments therein. In sum, it has the torments of fire, chilling
cold, snakes, scorpions, poisonous animals etc. The flames of its fire
rage high unabatedly and overtake the infidelswith violent force. The
fuel of hell is humanbeings and stones.
Q 3: How will a sinful believer be absolved?
A. A believer will ultimately be absolved irrespective of his myriad
sins and admitted into paradise either by the blessing of Allah
Almighty or the intercession of His Darling Elect Hadrat Muhammad
Mustafa (may Allah's choicest blessings and peace be upon him) or
having served his term of punishment in hell. Paradise is the last and
ultimate abode of believers wherein they will live eternally.
Q 4: Is there any absolution for infidels ornot?
A. The major sins of infidelity and polytheismwill never be absolved.
Infidels and polytheists will live eternally in hell and face
different sorts of torments. They will also be locked in boxes of fire
which will be encased in other fire boxes. Every infidel and
polytheist will think that it is the last chastisementbut they will
get no relief and keep sufferingtorments upon torments.

PARADISE

PARADISE

Q 1: What is paradise?
A. Paradise is an abode of endless bliss which Allah Almighty has
created for the believers.It is comprised of one hundred classes and
the distance between two classes is like that of the distance between
the earth and heavens. Each heaven is so vast and spacious that there
will remain enough room if the whole world with allits contents is
placed therein.
Q 2: What is in paradise?
A. Allah Almighty has created such paraphernalia of physical and
spiritual bliss and felicity in it thatis unseen, unheard, un-imagined
and undreamt of. Even an emperor and king can not enjoy such
pleasuresand facilities which will be available to the inmates of the
lowest class of the paradise.
Q 3: Which will be the greatest blessing in paradise?
A. The greatest favour with which the believerswill be graced in
heavens is the"vision(sight) of Allah". All divine boons, bounties and
favours will be eclipsed by Allah's vision. Once believers had it they
would get absorbed in its exquisite ecstasy for ever.
Q 4: How many believers will be entered into heavens?
A. The Holy Prophet said that of my bondslaves, seventy thousands
would be admitted into heavens without any"reckoning". Everyone ofthem
would take a group of seventy thousand believers with him into
paradise. Allah Almighty would yet grace them and three more
multitudes of believers would accompany them. The exact number of
believers who will be entered into heavens is known to Allah or His
Choicest Prophet whom Allah Almighty has endowed with such knowledge.

Ethical Stories: Everythinghappens for a reason (African king Story or Ethics in Islam)

Once upon a time an African king who had a close friend that he grew
with. The friend had a habit to face each situation that happened in
its life (positive or negative) saying: "That is good! Almighty Allah
knows more".
The king and his friend one day left for a hunt. The friend loaded and
prepared the weapons for the king. Apparently, the friend had made
something missed in the preparation of one of theweapons, the king
shot and it took his thumb away. When examining the situation, the
friend observed as always: "Thatis good! Almighty Allah knows more".
The king answered, "No, this is notgood", he commanded the soldiers
who arrestedhis friend and put him in the prison. After one year, the
king was hunting in a region where, cannibals appeared, and captured
the king and took him to their village. They tied hishands, and piled
up the firewood. When the cannibals came closer to the fire they
noticed that the king did not have thethumb. As they were
superstitious, they never ate who had a part of his body missing.
Thus, after setting the king free, they banished him from the village.
When the king arrived at its palace, remembered the incident about his
thumb and felt remorse for the treatment given to his friend.
Immediately, he pays a visit to the prisoner to speak with his
friend."You were right", said the king. "It was good that I lost my
thumb". Theking started to tell his friend everything that happened to
him. "I am sorry that I have ordered you to prison for such a long
period. It was a great mistake". "No", the friend said, "That was
thegood decision, because Almighty Allah knows more". "What do you
mean by that? How it canbe good decision? I ordered my best friend
toprison?" The friend answered: "Remember that Almighty Allah knows
more and if I was not in the prison certainly I would be with you in
the hunt". Then you know what would have happened with me?
"He knows what is beforethem and what is behind them and to Allah are
all affairs turned back". Noble Qur'an, Surah Al Hajj (22:76)
Do not judge the facts or events for the immediate results! Almighty
Allah, the Highest, the Omniscient and the Wise, knows more.
When we faced by circumstances that are nogood, we react quickly,"This
is not good." but, perhaps we did not know the reason behind it. It
can become a good thing also. Hence, from next time onward, when we
face any type of situation. Let us not jumpinto any conclusion, always
remember. This life is a test. The good and the bad, nothing happen
without any reason. Our mind is not prepared to understand the reason.

Ethical Stories: What GoesAround Comes Around! (Carpenter Story)

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire, and he told his boss of his
plans to leave and live a more leisurely life with his wife. He would
miss the paycheck, he could get by, but he needed to retire.
The contractor was sorry to see such a good worker go, and he asked
the carpenter to build just one more house as a personal favor.
The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart
was notin his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used
inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end adedicated
career.
When the carpenter finished his work, the contractor came to inspect
the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter."This is your
house," contractor said. "It is my gift to you."
The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was
building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.
So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting
less than our best into the building. Then with a shock we realize we
haveto live in the house we have built.
If we could do it over, wewould do it much differently. But we cannot go back...
You are the carpenter of your life. Each day you hammer a nail, place
a board, or erect a wall. Your attitudes and the choices you make
today build your "house" for tomorrow...

Ethical Stories: What GoesAround Comes Around! (Waitress Story)

One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but
evenin the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he
pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still
sputtering when he approached her.
Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped
to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn't
look safe; he looked poor and hungry.
He could see that she wasfrightened, standing out there in the cold.
He knew how she felt. It wasthose chills which only fear can put in
you.
He said, "I'm here to help you, ma'am. Why don't you wait in the car
where it's warm? By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson."
Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad
enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking fora place to put the
jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he wasable to change
the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt.
As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and
began to talk to him. She told him that she was from St. Louis and was
only just passing through. She couldn't thank him enough for coming to
her aid.
Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. The ladyasked how much she
owed him. Any amount would have been all rightwith her. She already
imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not
stopped. Bryan never thought twice about being paid. This was not a
job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were
plenty, who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole
life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way.
He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time
she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the
assistance they needed, and Bryan added, "And think of me."
He waited until she started her car and droveoff. It had been a cold
and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home,
disappearing into the twilight.
A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to
grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last
leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were
two old gaspumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The waitress
came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a
sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day
couldn't erase.The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eightmonths
pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude.
The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving
to a stranger. Then she remembered.
After the lady finished her meal, she paid with ahundred dollar bill.
The waitress quickly went to get change for her hundred dollar bill,
but the old lady had slipped right out the door. She was gone by the
time thewaitress came back. The waitress wondered where the lady could
be. Then she noticed something written on thenapkin.
There were tears in her eyes when she read whatthe lady wrote: "You
don't owe me anything. I have been there too. Somebody once helped me
out, the way I'm helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here
is what you do: Do not let this chain of love end with you."
Under the napkin were four more $100 bills.
Well, there were tables toclear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to
serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That night when
she got home from work and climbed into bed she wasthinking about the
money and what the ladyhad written. How could the lady have known how
much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it
was going to be hard...
She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to
her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low,
"Everything's going to be all right. I love you, Bryan Anderson."

Story - Novel The Fever CHAPTER 3

CHAPTER 3
I walked to the jeweler the next day, just before noontime.
I sat across the street andstared down the man in the black
sweatshirt. Eventually the creepy, crooked smile appeared behind the
cigarette on his face and I crossed the heavy traffic of the Chicago
street. As I came closer he aimed his nose at the ground, never
revealing his eyes to me.
"You wanna talk to Uncle Jack?"
"Yes."
"No-body talks to Jack 'cept me."
"Well then I need a favor."
His smiled widened."Whatdaya need?"
"Money. I have to get a new job and house and take care of my family
and...I have no job, I just need money fast."
He laughed. "You and half the city."
"Please," I pleaded. "I'm desperate." His laughing stopped.
"How desperate?"
"I'll do anything."
"Anything?"
"Anything."
The hooded man took a long suck on his cigarette. His scratchy and
demanding voice controlled the conversation. I couldn't imagine how
bellowing and deep his voice wouldordinarily sound without the
scratchy aspect from the constant cigarette entertaining his lips. "Do
you have any idea what you are dealing with?"
"Yes." How couldn't I? Everyone knew "Uncle Jack," except, nobody
really knew him. He was one of the biggest drug traffickers and money
launderers in Southern Chicago - not to mention one of the richest men
in the Midwest. He was a very dangerous man. He could snap his fingers
and you would be dead ifhe wanted it that way- and he always got what
he wanted. He never stopped until he got what he wanted.
"I don't think you understand what you aregetting yourself into."
I lied. "I do. I understand completely, and I'll do anything."
"You will be killed if you don't meet his demands."
"I figured." I tried to sound confident, but the gulp after the
sentence gave away my anxiety.
He tilted his head back and for the first time, I saw his eyes. They
were black as night, with red, bloodshot lines surrounding the
darkness. He grabbed his lighter and lit another cigarette. The light
from the flicker of the plastic canister instantly displayed his
facial features for a short moment. He was rather handsome, his face
perfect except for the unshaven scruff across his chin line. "Stay
put," he said after long deliberation and also as he caught me staring
at his face. He briskly walked down the sidewalk about a block and
disappeared from my sight. While he was gone, I did simple things to
pass the time. I tied myshoe laces a few times, counted taxis speeding
down the street, and watched a nearby clock, among other things. I
couldn't imagine standing here for hour after hour, day after day,
like the man in the hooded sweatshirt constantly did.
Finally, he reappeared in a crowd, walking at a hurried pace. "Follow
me,and keep up!" he harshly spat at me as he tossed his half-used
cigarette onthe sidewalk. He blew right past me and I almost had to
jog to keepup with his long, quick stride. He was constantly looking
over his shoulder, not at me but past me, almost as if he was
expecting conflict.
After a few blocks of roaming, he pulled me back deep into an alley.
Paranoia and adrenaline were all over his face.
"I'm going to speak quickly, so listen up."
"Okay."
He reached under his sweatshirt and pulled outfour stacks of
paper-wrapped bills.
"Here is one-hundred grand. In two years to this day, we will meet
again in this exact same spot we are standing now. I'll be here all
day. You need to show up with a quarter million. Yes, that is right,
two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. You willalso be asked for
favors along the way. You must comply. If you don't, you are dead. If
you don't show up here in two years, you are dead; and your wife and
two little girls will die a long, slow,and painful death.
I was suddenly alert and surprised. "How did you know about-?"
"Let's not go there, shall we?" he smirked as his grin returned and
lit another cigarette. With the first inhale he was suddenly calm
again. "Be here in two years." He tossed the money at me."When we
leave this alley, I'm going to the right and you are going to the
left. Understood? Don't stop or turn arounduntil you are home. Got
it?"
"Yes. I got it." I suddenly felt extremely nervous.
"Good. See ya in two years."
"Thank you," I managed to choke out in a whisper. But before he could
hear me, he was already moving and had taken off. He turned rightwhen
he hit the sidewalkand was gone. I went leftonce I had managed to
figure out how to work my legs again. I was excited but extremely
nervous at the same time.I couldn't stop the feelingof ecstasy pumping
through my veins.
I took an extended route home, going around the block my house was on
atleast twice before entering. I ran into the house and slammed the
door. Jennifer nearly hit the ceiling in surprise then scolded me for
the amount of noise I was making.
"Ssshhhh, the kids are asleep!" she hissed at me.
"We're getting out of here!"
"What?" she raised her voice in alarm.
I pulled the money out from under my sweater and her eyes were
suddenly wide in amazement and caution.
"Where did you get that?"
"That's not important."
"Paul-"
"Jen, can't you see? This is an opportunity to start over! We can go
where we want, get what we want, and be who we want! We can completely
start over. No more getting robbed day in and day out. No more
worrying about if we aregoing to have enough food to get through the
day! AND NO MORE SOUP! SOUP, SOUP, SOUP! I WANT SOME MEAT! TONIGHT WE
ARE GOING OUT FOR STEAKS!"
"Hush now, the girls are still sleeping."
I smiled at her and she continued to stare at me, but after a few
moments,a smile broke and crept across her face.
"Is this really happening?"
"Every bit of it. C'mon, let's get out of here."
She stared at me again for a few moments. "I'll start packing-"
"No, Jen. Just leave it here. We're going to startcompletely over. We
havenothing here left of value. We can get a hotel for the night and
shop tomorrow."
She smiled at me in a way I had not seen in years. I smiled back. This
is what we had been waiting for. This was our chance.
Jen half-ran down the hallway to wake the kids up. She used her
supermom strength to pick up and carry one kidin each arm as I grabbed
a small, combination suitcase to hold the money in.
Within minutes we had left the house, the front door wide open. We
walked directly to the nearest hotel, ordered a family suite, and paid
in cash. We headed to our room and unlocked the door. I held the door
open for Jen and the kidsand everyone was instantly taken aback by the
wonder and sheer amazement presented from the hotel room in front of
them. The two children were the most amazed as they had never been in
a hotel before.
Jen set the twins down intheir bed and they instantly fell asleep
after ridding themselves of excess energy from running around the room
for about 10 minutes, searching every hidden corner. We decided to let
them sleep and decided to get steaksthe next night.
Soon enough, for the first time since our honeymoon, Jen was fast
asleep and looked relaxed and comfortable. The drowsiness created by
my surrounding familyeventually wore off on me and I was also fighting
sleep. I took my rightful place beside her and kissed her forehead.
She smiled, which left mewondering if she was really asleep or not.
Either way, sleep came quickly from exhaustion, much fast than it used
to,never feeling safe with the door locked every night.
I fell asleep, dreaming about what I could do with the money.

Belut is a fertilized duck or chicken egg that contains a
nearly-developed embryo. This egg is boiled and eaten in the shell.
The prevalent belief here in the Philippines is that it contains a
high level of protein and is good for the heart. It is sold in
themarkets and streets of the Philippines. What is the ruling on
eating this kind of egg?.

The description of this egg on some websites is as follows:
Development of the chick usually takes 28 days, but balut is an egg
that has been incubated for only 18 days, during which they get a real
embryo with a primitive skeleton.
When the egg reaches the age of 16-20 days, it is ready to be taken to
market, where it will be boiled for thousands of customers who enjoy
this food. This depends on the size of the egg. The egg that is 18
days old is the best. The sellers wash the eggs thoroughly with
sponges, then when they are perfectly clean, they are put in a pot
andboiled. End quote.
With regard to the ruling on eating the egg with the embryo that is
not fully developed, the ruling is that it is haraam, because it comes
under the heading of eating maytah (something that has died without
being slaughtered properly). Eating maytah is definitely haraam
according to Islam.
The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas were asked
about the ruling on eating this egg and they ruled that it is haraam.
They were asked:
When we visited the Philippines, we noticed that the people of that
country commonly eat a dish they call balut. This is a chicken egg
that is placed in an incubator until it develops the form of a small
chick with all its features. Three days before the egg is peeled, they
cook the egg in water until it is done, then they break the egg and
eat the chick that is inside it.
Please advise us of the ruling on eating this food.
They replied:
If the situation is as described, then the chickis regarded as maytah
(something that died without being properly slaughtered) and it is not
permissible to eat it, because it had taken shape inside the egg, and
the prohibition on maytah is something that is well known and well
established in Islam.End quote.

Ruling on feeding dried blood to chickens.,Food & Nourishment -, Dought & clear - ,

What is the ruling on chickens if they are fed dried blood? A lot of
chickenfeed that chickenfarmers buy to fatten their chickens, both in
this country and abroad,contains dried blood, because in it there is a
kind of protein that helps chickens grow.
Praise be to Allaah.
With regard to feeding chickens or other animals that may be eaten
with impure substances (najasah) such as blood and the like, if it is
a small amount, that does not matter and it does not make them haraam
or make them jallaalah (animals that feed on filth and dung); rather
the jallaalah should be detained until it becomes pure and clean,if
most of its food is impure (najis).
But if only a small amount of the animal's food is impure (najis),
then it does not have any impact and it does not make the animal
haraam, so long as the ratio is 20% or 30% and so on. This does not
matter. Rather what makes it haraam is if the ratio is more than that
- 60% or 70%. If this is the ration, then the animal is regarded as
jallaalah, so it should be detained so that it can be given good and
pure food andwater. If it has been detained for a suitable number of
days, then it becomes pure and is halaal. This applies if theimpure
material is the majority of what it eats. The time for detaining
animals varies. Chickens should be detained for three days, and that
is enough for them to be fed good food and goodwater. Other animals,
such as sheep, cattle andthe like should be detained for longer
thanthat, such as seven days or more, so that they canbe given good
food and water, and their flesh becomes good (halaal) after that. We
have asked many of those who have knowledge of this matter, and they
said that what is fed to chickens of dried blood is a small amount in
comparison to other, pure food.

Does the meat of chickengrown by giving steroidsis halal evenif it is
slaughtered correctly?
Praise be to Allaah.
If the manufactured food or medicines did not contain anything harmful
or impure (najis), there is nothing wrong with eating chickens to whom
they were fed, if they have been slaughtered in the proper shar'i
manner by a Muslim or a kitaabi (i.e., Jew or Christian).
But if the feed or medicine is harmful to man, and will make him sick,
for example, it is haraam to feed them to chickens and to eat those
chickens, because Allah says (interpretationof the meaning):
"and do not throw yourselves into destruction"
[al-Baqarah 2:195].
And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
"There should be neitherharming not reciprocating harm." Narrated by
Ibn Maajah (2431) and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa'
al-Ghaleel (896).
If the feed is naajis (impure), such as meat from animals that died
without being slaughtered properly (maytah) or blood and so on, that
may be put inthe feed, then the matter is subject to further
discussion.
Is most of the feed is made from those impuresubstances or from taahir
(pure) things suchas grains and the like?
If most of the feed is pure, it is permissible to eat it, and there is
nothing wrong with that.
But if most of its feed is naajis (impure) -- this is what the
scholars call "an animal that feeds onfilth" -- it is not permissible
to eat unless it has been detained andfed with taahir food thatwill
make its meat good.
Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen said in al-Sharh al-Mumti' (11/298):
The animal that feeds onfilth is one whose food ismostly impure (najaasah).
There are two scholarly views concerning this: one view is that it is
haraam because it has been nourished by impure matter that has an
effect on its meat.
The other view is that it is halaal. This is based onthe idea that
impure things become pure when they undergo a transformation. They
said: The impurity that it ate has been transformed into blood, flesh
and the like that grows in the body, so it is taahir. End quote.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade the
milk of an animal that feeds on filth or impurity, but if the animal
is detained until it becomes pure, then it is halaal according to
Muslim consensus, because before that the effect of the impurity could
be seen in its milk, eggs and sweat, so it gave off a rotten and evil
stench. Once that is removed, it becomes taahir (pure). If the ruling
is established for a reason, it ceases to apply once that reason isno
longer present. End quote.

Enjoining good and forbidding evil

Allaah, the Exalted, Says (what means): "Let there arise out of you a
group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam), enjoining
Al-Ma`roof (i.e., Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to
do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam
has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful.'' [Quran 3:104]
"You (true believers in Islamic Monotheism) are the best of peoples
ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma`roof (i.e., Islamic
Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar
(polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden)''. [Quran
3:110]
"Show forgiveness, enjoin what isgood, and turn away from the foolish
(i.e., don't punish them).'' [Quran 7:199]
"Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the
tongue of Daawood(David) and `Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). That
was becausethey disobeyed (Allaah and the Messengers) and were ever
transgressing beyond bounds. They used not to forbid one another from
the Munkar (wrong,evildoing, sins, polytheism, disbelief) which they
committed. Vile indeed was what they used to do". [Quran 5:78, 79]
"…We (i.e. Allaah Almighty) rescued those who forbade evil, and with a
severe torment We seized those who did wrong because they used to
rebel against Allaah's Command (disobey Allaah)." [Quran 7:165]
Abu Sa`eed Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allaah said , "Whoever
amongst you sees an evil, he must change it with his hand; if he is
unable to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is yet unableto do
so, then with his heart; andthat is the weakest form of Faith" .
[Muslim]
This Hadeeth (narration) containsa very important prescription to
prevent the Muslim society from all things which are forbidden in
Islam. So long as Muslims adhered to it and ceaselessly and fearlessly
performed their obligation of enjoining the right and forbidding the
wrong, their society was largely safe from many evils and sins.
Nu`maan Ibn Basheer, May Allaah be pleased with him, reported: The
Prophet said: "The likeness of the man who observes the limits
prescribed by Allaah and that of the man who transgresses them is like
a group of people who get on board a ship after casting lots. Some of
them are in its lower deck and some of them in its upper (deck). Those
who are in its lower (deck),when they require water, go to the
occupants of the upper deck, and say to them: `If we make a hole in
the bottom of the ship, we shall not harm you.' If they (the occupants
of the upper deck)leave them to carry out their design they all will
be drowned. But if they do not let them go ahead (with their plan),
all of them will remain safe". [Al-Bukhaari]
We learn from this Hadeeth that the consequences of committing acts
which are forbidden in Islam are not confined only to those persons
who commit them, but the whole society has to suffer the consequences.
It is, therefore, essential that the people who are in the habit of
committing sinful acts and violate Divine injunctions, should be
checked to save the whole society from destruction. If this isnot
done, the entire society will have to face the Divine punishment.
The Prophet said, "Beware of sitting on roads (paths).' ' The audience
said: "We have them as sitting places.'' The Messenger said, "If you
have to sit there, then observe the rights of the way" . They asked,
"What are the rights of the way?'' He said, "To lower your gaze (on
seeing what is illegal to look at), removal of harmful objects from
the way, returning greetings, andenjoining good and forbidding wrong".
[Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
This Hadeeth tells us that it is improper to sit on roadsides and
passages in such a way, which causes inconvenience to the people who
pass by. It is really very unfortunate that now we donot care about
such things at all. If sitting on the roadside is indispensable, then
it is essential to observe the requirements mentioned in the Hadeeth.
Some Islamic etiquette mentioned in this Hadeeth have also been stated
in other Ahadeeth (pl. or Hadeeth). For instance, politeness of
speech, sharing of someone's burden, helping the oppressed and the
troubled, guiding the wayward person to the right path, answering (in
the prescribed manner) one who sneezes, etc.
`Abdullaah Ibn `Abbaas reported: The Messenger of Allaah saw a man
wearing a gold ring. So he (the Prophet ) pulled it off and threw it
away, saying, "One of you takes a live coal, and puts it on his hand?!
'' Itwas said to the man after the Messenger had left: "Take your ring
(of gold) and utilize it,'' whereupon he said: "No, by Allaah, I would
never take it after the Messenger of Allaah has thrown it away".
[Muslim]
We learn from this Hadeeth that wearing gold rings (and other golden
ornaments) is prohibited for men. Unfortunately, it has become a
popular fashion nowadays for men to wear gold rings to signify their
marriage, which is a very dangerous custom that must be shunned.
`Aa'idh Ibn `Amr visited `Ubaidillaah Ibn Ziyaad (the ruler) and said
to him: "Son, I heard theMessenger of Allaah saying, 'The worst
shepherds (rulers) are those who deal harshly in respectof
supervision. Beware, don't be one of them! ''' Ibn Ziyaad said to him,
"Sit down, you are but a husk from among the Companions of the Prophet
'' `Aa'idh Ibn `Amr retorted:"Was there any husk among them? Surely,
husk came after them and among others than them". [Muslim]
This Hadeeth presents a model ofcourage and boldness of speaking the
truth before a tyrant. It was displayed by `Aa'idhin the court of
'Ubaidillaah Ibn Ziyaad, governor of Basrah. The latter humiliated
`Aa'idh the righteous preacher, for his straight forwardness and truth
but he repeated his statement about the eminence of the Companions of
the Prophet and said none of them could be called husk.
Huthaifah reported: The Prophet said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life
is, you either enjoin good and forbid evil, or Allaah will certainly
soon send Hispunishment to you. Then you willmake supplication and it
will not be accepted" . [At-Tirmithi]
To abandon the practice of enjoining virtue and forbidding vice is
likely to incur the displeasure of Allaah and the rejection of prayers
and supplications.

General Article -, The benefits of belief in Divine Decree and Predestination

Belief in Al-Qadhaa' Wal-Qadar (Divine Decreeand Predestination) is
one of the pillars of faith in Islam. The Muslim's faith is not
complete unless he knows that whatever befalls him could not have
missed him, and whatever misses him could not have befallen him.
Everything is subject to the Will and Decree of Allaah, as Allaah Says
in the Quran (what means): "Indeed, all things We created with
predestination". [Quran 54:49]
All the disasters and tribulations that happen on earth, or happen to
the individual, or to his wealth or family, etc., were known to Allaah
before they happened, He has written them in Al-Lawh Al-Mahfooth
(thePreserved Tablet) as He Says (what means): "No disaster strikes
upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register
before We bring it into being — indeed that, for Allaah, is easy."
[Quran 57:22]
No matter what disasters befall a person, it is goodfor him, whether
he realizes that or not, because Allaah does not decree anything but
it is good, as He Says (what means):
"Say, "Never will we be struck except by what Allaah has decreed for
us;He is our protector." And upon Allaah let the believers rely."
[Quran 9:51]
Every disaster happens byAllaah's leave. If He had not willed it, it
would nothave happened, but Allaah permitted it to happen and decreed
it, and so it happened. Allaah Says (what means):
"No disaster strikes except by permission of Allaah. And whoever
believes in Allaah — He will guide his heart. And Allaah is Knowing of
all things." [Quran 64:11]
Once a person knows that all calamities happenby the will and decree
of Allaah, then he has to believe and submit and be patient. The
reward for patience is Paradise, as Allaah Says (what means): " And
will rewardthem for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in
Paradise ] and silk [garments]." [Quran 76:12]
The position of patience in relation to this aspect of faith, in
particular, is like that of the head in relation to the body. Patience
is a noble attribute with good consequences. Those who are patient
will havean unlimited reward, as Allaah Says (what means):
"Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who
do good in this world is good and the earth of Allaah is spacious.
Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account [i.e.
limit]." [Quran 39:10]
Another good outcome to perseverance through the Decree of Allaah, is
the believer (in particular) is rewarded inboth good times and bad.
Prophet Muhammad said:
"How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for all his affairs are
good, and that is for no one except the believer. If something good
happensto him, he expresses gratitude, and that is good for him, and
if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is
goodfor him." [Muslim]
Allaah has taught us whatwe should say when calamity strikes, and has
stated that those who arepatient will have an honorable position with
their Lord. Allaah Says (what means): "… But give good tidings to the
patient. Who, when disaster strikes them, say,"Indeed we belong to
Allaah, and indeed to Himwe will return." [Quran 2:155-156]
The benefits of Belief in Divine Decree and Predestination:
The benefits of Divine Decree and Predestination can be highlighted
through the following points:
1. Peace of mind: A Muslim who believes in Divine Decree and
Predestination will have his mind at ease when heknows for certain
that what befell him could nothave missed him and what missed him
could not have reached him.
2. Contentment: It doesn'tmake him grieve about anything because he
doesn't say things that reflect discontent like "if I did such and
such then such and such would have happened". Also, hedoesn't worry
too much about the future becausehe believes that everything is
already written. What he should worry about is his deeds and doing
good.
3. It gives him the will power and determination to go forward in the
way of Allaah: A Muslim doesn't fear anybody because he knows that no
one has the power to afflict harm on him without it being decreed by
Allaah. The Prophet ( ) clarified this point to Ibn Abbaas saying:
"…If the whole nation were to gather together to benefit you they
would only benefit you with that which Allaah had already written for
you and if the whole nation were to gather to harm you they could
onlyharm you with that which Allaah had already written to harm you.
The pen has been lifted and the ink has dried (a phrase meaning:
everything has been decreed or settled)". [At-Tirmithi]
4. It teaches the Muslim to be modest and humble. This is so because
everything that a Muslim does is by the Will of Allaah so if he
succeeds he knows that Allaah helped him in doing it; he doesn't
succeed because he is intelligent or because he is rich or because he
deserves it, and, likewise,a person isn't poor because he is stupid.
This stops pride and arrogance from creeping to his heart because he
knows that Allaah can afflict him with harm anddeprive him from the
bounties he boasts about.
5. Total dependence upon Allaah: A Muslim takes precautions, does as
much as he can and then depends upon Allaah because Divine Decree does
not stop himfrom taking precautions and utilizing worldly means.
The Prophet said: "Take precautions as everybody is guided to that
which has been destined for him." e.g. you should drink to quench your
thirst. If something bad comes, it is because of our bad doings and if
something good reaches us then it isfrom Allaah's grace.
Almighty Allaah Says (what means): " What comes to you of good is from
Allaah, but what comes to you of evil, [O man], is from yourself."

Dought & clear - , She covered her face during ‘Umrah due to lack of knowledge; whatdoes she have to do?.

For the first time in 'Umrah my wife uncovered her face in Makkah, as
they were saying that it is not permissible to wear niqaab, and we did
not know. So my wife took off the niqaab and we completed 'umrah,
tawaaf and sa'i. After wegot back to our own country, we found out
that she should have covered her face with the shaylah (headscarf). My
question is: is there any expiation or is her 'umrah not accepted? I
hope that you can adviseus.
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly: the woman in ihram is not allowed to wear the niqaab because
the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "The
woman in ihram should not wear niqaab or gloves."
This has been discussed previously in the answerto question no. 12516 .
Secondly: the prohibition on a womanwearing niqaab whilst in ihram
does not mean that she should leave herface uncovered in the presence
of non-mahram men; rather she must cover her face with something other
than the niqaab orburqa'.
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not
instruct the woman in ihram to uncover her face; rather he told her
not to wear the niqaab. There is a difference between the two matters;
she should not wear the niqaab but she should cover her face with
something other than the niqaab, such as the scarf.
It was narrated that 'Aa'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said:
The riders used to pass us when we were with the Messenger of Allah
(blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in ihram. When they drew
close to us, one of us would let down her jilbaab from her head over
her face, and when they had passed us we would uncover it again.
Narrated by Ahmad, 23501; Abu Dawood, 1833; classed as hasan byal-Albaani.
Shaykh al-Islam (Ibn Taymiyah) said: She may cover her face and her
hands, but without wearing the garment that is made to fit that part,
just as a man is not allowed to wear trousersbut he may wear the izaar
(waist wrapper).

Thirdly: even though it was a mistake to uncover the face after
entering ihram, the 'umrah is not affected bya woman uncovering her
face after entering ihram or whilst circumambulating the Ka'bah
(tawaaf) or going between as-Safa and al-Marwah (sa'i). The 'umrah is
valid and we hope that it will be accepted in sha Allah, especially
since your wife uncovered her face due to lack of knowledge of the
Islamic ruling.

Dought & clear - , Is treating people equally unfairly justice?.

There is a saying that treating people equally unfairly is justice;
some people attribute this to the Messenger (blessingsand peace of
Allah be upon him) and some regard it as if it is a basicprinciple
that cannot be changed. What is the Islamic ruling or how sound is
this saying?.
Praise be to Allaah.
The saying that some people say, "treating people equally unfairly is
justice" is false and is as far removed from the laws and religion of
Allah as the East is from the West. Allah forbid that the Messenger of
Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) should utter such
words. Rather what the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon
him) said, in the hadeethqudsi, was that Allah, may He be blessed and
exalted, said: "O My slaves, I have forbidden zulm (injustice,
wrongdoing, unfairness)to Myself and I have made it haraam among you,
so do not wrong one another." Narrated by Muslim, 2577
The mutawaatir texts that warn against injustice and highlight its
negative consequences are too many to quote here.
If this false and unjust saying refers to those who have power and
authority over people, it could be said to them: If you wrong anyone
who is under your authority, and you take his wealth or beat him or
imprison him, then do not limit it to this person only; rather make
your injustice reach all the people under your authority, so that you
will be being fair in distributing your injustice among them! Such a
thing is not fit to be said by anyone but tyrants and those who
transgress against people's rights!
What justice can there be in that, when Allah, may He be exalted, says
(interpretation of the meaning): "Verily, Allah enjoins Al-Adl (i.e.
justiceand worshipping none but Allah Alone - Islamic Monotheism) and
Al-Ihsan (i.e. to be patient in performing your duties to Allah,
totally for Allahs sake and in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways)
of the Prophet SAW in a perfect manner), and giving (help) to kith and
kin (i.e. all that Allah has ordered you to give them e.g., wealth,
visiting, looking after them, or any other kind of help, etc.): and
forbidsAl-Fahsha (i.e all evil deeds, e.g. illegal sexual acts,
disobedience of parents, polytheism, to tell lies, to give false
witness, to kill a life without right, etc.), and Al-Munkar (i.e all
that is prohibited by Islamic law: polytheism of every kind, disbelief
and everykind of evil deeds, etc.), and Al-Baghy (i.e. all kinds of
oppression), He admonishes you, that you may take heed" [an-Nahl
16:90].
Treating people equally unjustly is injustice uponinjustice!
Instead of meeting his Lord having wronged just one man or
transgressed against him, such a person will be meeting Him having
wronged everyone he could, for the sake of treating them equally in
that regard.
Is this not more like what the mushrikeen do, when they want to commit
wrong actions and immoral deeds, thenthey claim that this is from
Allah and that He has enjoined it and prescribed it? Allah, may He be
exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And when they commit a Fahisha (evil deed, going round the Kabah in
naked state, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.), they
say: "We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has commanded us of
it." Say: "Nay, Allah never commands of Fahisha. Do you say of Allah
what you know not?
Say (O Muhammad SAW): My Lord has commandedjustice and (said) that you
should face Him only(i.e. worship none but Allah and face the Qiblah,
i.e. the Kabah at Makkah during prayers) in each and every place of
worship, in prayers (and not to face other false deities and idols),
and invoke Him only making your religion sincere to Him by not joining
in worship any partner to Him and with the intention that you are
doing your deeds forAllahs sake only. As He brought you (into being)in
the beginning, so shall you be brought into being (on the Day
ofResurrection) (in two groups, one as a blessed one (believers), and
the other as a wretched one (disbelievers)).
A group He has guided, and a group deserved tobe in error; (because)
surely they took the Shayatin (devils) as Auliya (protectors and
helpers) instead of Allah,and consider that they are guided."
[al-A'raaf 7:28-30].
Justice means giving each person who has rights his rights and putting
everything in its proper place; what has this to do with injustice or
treating people equally in that regard?

Islamic Stories - , The Triple Filter test

During the golden Abbasid period, one of the scholars in Baghdad, the
capital of Muslim caliphate at that time, was reputed to hold
knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great
scholar and said,"Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"
"Hold on a minute," the scholar replied. "Before telling me anything
I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter
Test."
"Triple filter?"
"That's right," the scholar continued."Before you talk to me about my
friend it mightbe a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're
going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test. The first
filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about
to tell me is true?"
"No," the man said,"actually I just heard about it and..."
"All right," said the scholar. "So you don't really know if it's true
ornot. Now let's try the second filter, the filter ofGoodness. Is what
you are about to tell me about my friend something good?" "No, on the
contrary......"
"So," the scholar continued, "you want to tell me something bad about
him, but you're not certain it's true. You may still pass the test
though, because there's one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is
what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"
"No, not really."
"Well," concluded the scholar, "if what you want to tell me is
neithertrue nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"
"O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may
be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women
laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the
(former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each
other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming isa name connoting
wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those whodo
not desist are (indeed) doing wrong." [Surah al-Hujurat 49.012]

Islamic Stories - , The two wolves inside of us

An old Indian Grandfather said to his grandson who came to him with
anger at a friend who had done him an injustice........
"Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have felt a great hate for
those thathave taken so much, with no sorrow for whatthey do. But hate
wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy.
It is like taking poison and wishing your enemywould die. I have
struggled with these feelings many times."
He continued......
"It is as if there are two wolves inside me;
One is good and does noharm. He lives in harmony with all round him
and does not take offense when no offensewas intended. He will only
fight when it is right to do so, and in theright way. He saves all his
energy for the right fight.
But the other wolf, ahhh!
He is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of
temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason.
He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is
helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.
Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both
of them try to dominate my spirit."
The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked...
"Which one wins, Grandfather?"
The Grandfather smiled and quietly said......
"The one I feed."
