*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Muslims must live by the joy and fervor of living in the time of the movement of the Mahdi, but inertia will cause them to regress

All Muslims who evaluatethe last 30 years with good conscience and
sincerity can easily see we are in the End Times and that we are
therefore living in the age of the Prophet Jesus (as) and Hazrat Mahdi
(as) and at a time when the moral values of Islamwill rule the world.
The fact that Allah will be sending the Prophet Jesus (as), one of the
Resolved Messengers (Ul al'Azm), back to earth after 2000 years and
thatthe great struggle of Hazrat Mahdi (as), the greatest guide since
the time of the Prophet Adam (as), is certainly instrumental in
Muslims feeling great fervor, enthusiasm and joy. Every believer who
sees and is aware of this will experience the joy of this holy age at
every moment. With that joy he will strive, intend andhope to be in
the vanguard of the ProphetJesus (as) and Hazrat Mahdi (as), to
prepare the ground for them andto support them in the finest manner.
Knowing that he is living in this holy century will be instrumental in
Muslims enjoying much beauty inthis world and considerable gains in
the Hereafter.
On the other hand, to seek to cover up and conceal the fact that we
are living in the age of the Mahdi, using quibbles of various kindsand
in the face of hundreds of hadiths of our Prophet (saas) and the many
clear references in the verses of the Qur'an, is a most dangerous path
that willlead Muslims to inertia and passivity. That path leads to the
acceptance of an average or even below-average life instead of
striving for Allah's approval with all the means at one's disposal.
That life style is a mentality that reduces living by the religion and
proper moral values to the bare minimum. It is a mentality that
performs the minimum of religious obligations, seeks to restrict
religion to the narrowest area of life, seeks no beauty, love or depth
and fails toproperly appreciate the blessings bestowed by Allah. But
its most perilous aspect is that it goes even further and leads to a
mindset that drags a person backward each day and makes it even more
difficult for them to sincerely live by religious moral values.
Some who fails to feel the excitement of starting each new day for
Allah's sake and who does not enthusiasticallyseek the maximum of
Allah's approval in all things will be exposed tothe conditioning of
denial. In the event he fails to move forward and does not grow in
depth and proximity to and love of Allah every single day, then he
will regress every day. Inertia in faith, love and depth means
regression. For example, the lovelessness in someone who does not feel
a profound joy and fervor in his soul towards the beauties bestowed by
Allah and who regards them as quite mundane, will soon turn into a
distaste for these delights, and then even anger. Someone who does not
fervently remember Allah with thewords "SubhanAllah [Glory be to
Allah], Alhamdulillah [Praise be to Allah]" when he sees such delights
will eventually turn into a person with a frozen, petrified soul who
fails to understand the wisdom behind their Creation or even never
thinks about them at all. This petrifaction of the soul will lead to a
coolness and apathy toward Allah, the religion and his Muslim
brothers. Someone who fails to think how Allah has promised to make
the moral values of Islamprevail the world and who does not strive to
spread the moral values of the religion in the light of the enthusiasm
stemming from this promise, can never obey the commands of the
religion with any spiritual fervor. Such a person will eventually
become a robot who goes to work and back, enjoys no sincere
conversation even with his own wife and children and who appears to
perform religious observances but who draws no spiritual enjoyment
fromthem. Increasing numbers of people with such a mindset will mean
an apathy, inertia, defeatism and passivity prevailing across the
Islamic world.
Therefore, everyone who lives by the moral values of Islam must
scrupulously avoid attitudes, ideas and conceptions that might lead
his Muslim brothers and all mankind toward such an inertia. He must
not forget that inertia can lead to irreligion. Nobody must waste
Muslims' time on ideas that are hard to believe, that have no place in
Islam, that depict the global dominion of Islamic moral values as far
off or almost impossible or accounts that seek to eliminate the idea
of the movement of the Mahdi. Everyone must consider the harm that
such a mindset may do to the world of Islam and striveto compete in
doing the greatest amount of goodfor Allah's approval, rather than
making do with an average life. This is what is most compatible with
the moral values of the true believer as revealed by Allah in the
Qur'an:
Then We made Our chosen servants inherit the Book. But some of them
wrong themselves; some are ambivalent; AND SOME OUTDO EACH OTHER IN
GOOD BY ALAH'S PERMISSION. THAT IS THE GREAT FAVOR. (Surah Fatir, 32)
Allah will not disappoint those who strive to gain His approval with
fervor, determination and enthusiasm, who do all in their power to
bring about the global dominion of His religion and who strive to be
among the followers of Hazrat Mahdi (as) by seeing the signs
foretoldby our Prophet (saas).

It is the Law of Allah thatMuslims should have a leader. In the End Times, Muslims will gather around the spiritual leadership of Hazrat Mahdi (as)

No matter what ideas or beliefs they hold, peoplealways have a leader
to represent them when they come together for aspecific purpose.
Throughout history, Allah has created every community of believers
together with a leader. The Prophet Noah (as) was the leader of
believers in his time, the Prophet Moses (as) was the leader of
believers inhis time, our Prophet (saas) was the leader of the
Companions in his time, Talut was the leader of believers in his time,
and Dhu'l Qarnayn in his time. In the same way that no community of
believers has ever been leaderless in the past, neither will Muslims
be leaderless in the End Times. Hazrat Mahdi (as) himself will
personally be the spiritual leader of Muslims in the End Times.
The idea that Muslims should be leaderless, when the Catholics, the
Orthodox, Jews and evenfreemasons have leaders, ignores the pains and
sufferings of the Muslim world. Allah commands Muslims in the Qur'an
not to be divided and fragmented. If Muslims do not abide by this
command of Allah's, if they fail to coalesce, as the Muslims of the
past coalesced, around one spiritual leader, then it will not be
possible for the difficulties and pains facing the Islamic world to
come to an end or for Muslims who are oppressed and persecuted all
over the world to be set free. The path that Allah shows to Muslims in
the Qur'an is that of "those who, when they are wronged, defend
themselves." (Surat ash-Shura, 39) It isblatantly evident that Muslims
are being wronged in Pathani, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Chad,
Moro, East Turkestan and manyother places. That being the case, it is
also evident that Muslims should be united in order to defend their
rights in the wisest and most effective way with knowledge, culture,
information and art. It must not be forgotten that "Allah loves those
who strive in His Way in ranks like well-built walls." (Surat as-Saff,
4) It is Hazrat Mahdi (as) in person who will bring the Muslims of the
worldtogether in our own dayto strive on Allah's path with knowledge
and information, who will show them the way, andwho will protect them
against the scourges of Darwinism and materialism in the finest
manner.
The responsibility for innocent people being bombed as they pray in
mosques in Pakistan, for our East Turkestan brothers being subjected
to unbelievable tortures in Chinese prisons, for Palestinian children
being shot at as they travel to school, for civilians in Iraq living
with the fear of death every day, for innocent people being bombed
asthey lie in hospitals in Afghanistan, for those who have spent long
years in refugee camps and for those who worship in secret in order to
stay alive, lies with those who are unwilling for Muslims to unite
around a spiritual leader. Those who maintain that Muslims should be
leaderless andheadless, ignoring the verses of the Qur'an and the
trustworthy hadiths of our Prophet (saas), must not ignore that fact.

One must avoid suchheedlessness as saying, ''where is the antichrist?'' at a time when Muslims are being martyred all over the world, hundreds of thousand of people are living on the edge of starvation and funeral services are held for martyrs

Many of the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) refer to a period of the
movement of the antichrist prior to the Day of Reckoning, when
anarchy, disorder and oppression reign. Accounts also reveal thatthe
movement of the antichrist will be the worst corruption in the history
of the world, andour Prophet (saas) warnsof the threat of the movement
of the antichrist as follows:
"There has been no creation (creating more trouble) than the
antichrist, from the creation of Adam to the Last Hour. (Al-Barzanji,
Al-Isha'ah li-ashrat al-sa'ah, p. 225)
The appearance of the antichrist is described as one of the major
portents of the End Times in accounts from our Prophet (saas). The
antichrist will turn masses of people away from Allah and inflict
unhappiness and uneaseon them, and a loveless, insecure and oppressive
environment is described as one of the many portents heraldingthe
imminent end of the world. However, there will be good news
accompanying the emergence of the antichrist. That is that a great
spiritual power will appear in opposition to the antichrist, and it is
Hazrat Mahdi (as) who will save mankind from the devilish spirit of
the movement of the antichrist and will bring people back to the
radiance of Islam.
Hazrat Mahdi (as) whose coming before the Day of Reckoning is foretold
by our Prophet (saas) will be descended from him, and will be the
greatest ever mujaddid and mujtahid, the greatest ever commander, the
greatest kutb-u azam, the lord of time and a luminous individual whois
spiritual leader of the Islamic world. His physical features, moral
values, lineage, activitiesand the timing of his coming are all
described in detail in many trustworthy hadiths, andall Sunni scholars
are unanimously agreed on the reliability of those hadiths. The Sahih
al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan at-Tirmidhi, Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan
Ibn Majah, Imam Rabbani, Suyuti, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi and many other
scholars have comprehensively set out in their works how the coming of
Hazrat Mahdi (as) is true and certain.
Indeed, as can be seen from the works of these Islamic scholars,
Hazrat Mahdi (as) will appear inHijri 1400, and there willbe hundreds
of signs of his holy coming. We are now in Hijri 1431, and more than
200 physical portents have come about just as described in the
hadiths. This once again shows we are in a very precious,
significantand radiant age.
Both the antichrist and Hazrat Mahdi (as) are at work, and a great
intellectual struggle has begun between truth and falsehood.
Therefore, people living at this time must decide which side of this
mentalstruggle to support. Being on the side of Hazrat Mahdi (as)
means to support the great intellectual struggle against the
antichrist in order to be one of the helpers and supporters of this
holy individual. And that is very easy. One can be a student,
forerunner and follower of Hazrat Mahdi (as) by telling people of the
evidence of the existence of Allah, spreading Qur'anic moral values,
announcing the glad tidings of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and
intellectually demolishing Darwinism, the supposed scientific
foundation for all destructive ideologies.
In addition, our Muslim brothers must not forgetthat to ignore the
systemof the movement of the antichrist means, to fail to comprehend
we are in the age of Hazrat Mahdi (as), to turn one's back on the
hundreds of signs of the Day of Reckoning that have taken place and to
remain silent in the face of persecution means to support the system
of the antichrist. There is no need to speak or act against religion
in order to support the antichrist.Silence in the face of his actions
also effectively means to support him, and that imposes a
hugeresponsibility on people. It is therefore terribly dangerous for
Muslims at such a time to adopt alogic that is incompatible with the
hadiths and verses by saying things like, "And where is the
antichrist? Why bother referring to the antichrist? Why concentrate so
much on the movement of the Mahdi?" Most important of all, that is
heedlessness one will be unable to explain away in the hereafter.
The movement of the antichrist has now inflicted a worse corruption
than has everbeen seen before on all societies. The antichrist has
made people captive, wreaked an economic crisis on them and made them
unable to leave their homes, trust their friends, live inpeace or even
breathe. The system of the antichrist is killing mothers, fathers,
children and loved ones, it is tearing families apart, impoverishing
them, taking away their honor and character andcondemning them to
livealone and unhappy, deprived of love and respect. But some
peopleliving in the midst of these scourges still behave as if there
were no movement of the antichrist, no such affliction, and reject the
urgent need for the movement of the Mahdi.
What all our Muslim brothers must see is this:by his actions, the
antichrist has flooded the world with blood, and is still doing so.
People who say "The antichrist will not come at this time" or "The
coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) is hundreds of years off" should look at
the state of the world from amore honest perspective.
The oppression and persecution China has been inflicting on East
Turkestan for the last 60 years is still going on. In East Turkestan,
where 36million Uighur Muslims have been subjected to genocide over
the last 60 years, 796 MUSLIMS WERE SENTENCED TO DEATH AND MARTYRED IN
JUST ONE MONTH LAST YEAR, 10,000 MUSLIMS DISAPPEARED OVERNIGHT AND
100,000 OF OUR UIGHUR SISTERS WERE FORCIBLY TAKEN AWAY FROM THEIR
HOMES. Thesesisters of ours are forcedinto illicit relation under
threat of death. The fate of 10,000 Muslims who disappeared in one
night is still unknown. The streets of Sinjan were filled with bodies.
Uighur Turks have been forced to migrate. The dead bodies of the 156
Uighur Turks killed in the events in Urumchi, the majority of whom
were killed by a single bullet from the security forces, were laid out
on the ground. Uighur Turks are chased out of mosques with sticks and
forbidden to recite prayers.
Muslims are bombed as they pray in mosques in Nepal. Houses,
businesses, associations and mosques belonging to Nepalese Muslims are
set on fire. In Afghanistan, 1,013 civilians were killed in six
months. Muslims in Palestine are literally prisoners in their own
motherland and live under the threat of martyrdom every day. Hundreds
of civilians were recently killed in Chechnya and thousandsmore forced
to abandon their homes. According to the latest research in Iraq,
uranium has been used with no allowance made for the civilian
population. Incidences of cancer have risen by four times in Fallujah,
12times in the under 14 age group, cases of leukemia have risen by 38
times and a significant rise in brain tumors has also begun inadults.
There was a 17-fold increase in cases of leukemia after Hiroshima, but
a 38-fold rise in Fallujah. Never a day goes by without bombs
exploding in Pakistan. Bombs rock Peshawar and Lahore just about every
day.
Somalia is on the brink of starvation, and it has been stated that one
in four children under five go to bed hungry. It has been calculated
that 1 million people are on the verge of starvation. Young girls are
raped by the Buddhist Thai army in Pathani, scholars are murdered and
mosques burned. Muslim blood is shed every day in Pathani.
Everyone in this time clearly sees and experiences the oppression of
the movement of the antichrist. The antichrist reveals himself through
clashes on the streets and brother killing brother. The burial of the
bodies of martyrs on a daily basis in different parts of Turkey is the
antichrist's way of saying, "I am here."
Those who say, "Where is the antichrist?" or "I cannot see the
antichrist" should look at what is going on in Fallujah, Afghanistan,
Palestine, East Turkestan,Sudan or Nepal. That is where they will find
the answer to the question, "Where is the antichrist?" The antichrist
is in America, Afghanistan, Iraq, Nepal, East Turkestan, and Kashmir
and all over the world. He is continuing to kill people and shed their
blood with all his might.
The antichrist has revealed himself, in all his satanic aspects. But
even though the antichrist shows himself everywhere, some people still
expect him tohave the word "antichrist" written on his forehead, to be
a monstrous creature withhorns on his head, and are gravely mistaken
when they say, "I will not believe in the movement of the antichrist
until I see suchan entity." The antichristhas now unsheathed his claws
and is slashing with that at Muslims and people all over the world.
In his works, the great Islamic scholar Bediüzzaman Said Nursi said
that the antichrist, the worst corruption of the End Times, would
spread evil by encouraging Darwinist and materialist movements, and
warnedMuslims on the subject:
A tyrannical current bornof naturalist and materialist philosophy will
gradually become strong and spread at theend of time by means of
materialist philosophy, reaching such a degree that it denies Allah.
... And the greatest of them, the antichrist, who will come to lead
them, will manifest awesome wonders, a sort of spiritualism and
hypnosis; he will go even further, and imagining his
tyrannical, superficial rule to be a sort of dominicality, he will
proclaim his godhead [surely Allah is beyond that]. (Bediuzzaman Said
Nursi, Letters, Fifteenth Letter)
But despite all these facts, one can almost count the number of people
in the world of 7 billion people who espouse the moral values of the
Qur'an, the delights of Islam and themovement of the Mahdi on the
fingers of one hand. Most people ignore all the corruptionand disorder
in the world, while others are solely concerned with maintaining their
own interests.
But like all things, of course, this is also part of Allah's destiny.
Allah has charged Hazrat Mahdi (as) with demolishing the system of the
antichrist, leadingpeople to peace and security and to causing the
warmth, love and trustworthiness of Islamic moral values to rule the
world. Indeed, itis a miracle from Allah that even though it is quite
easy to wage an intellectual struggle against the movement ofthe
antichrist most people make no effort on the subject. The majority of
religious scholars avoid the issue and never mention this, the worst
corruption of the End Times. Not to mention the name of theantichrist
or to say that he will be coming only very much later, when Muslims
are being martyred en masse all over the world, is equivalent to not
imparting the glad newsof the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as). So much so
that to date almost nobody has criticized or struggled against the
movement of the antichrist.
Yet Hazrat Mahdi's (as) victory is certain in destiny, By Allah's
leave, the antichrist will be defeated in his war aimed at turning
people from religious moral values. Muslims who wish to support Hazrat
Mahdi (as) and his followers, the people of Allah, in their honorable
victory must oppose Darwinism, materialism and irreligion with all
their might, using knowledge, art, science and culture, in the
awareness we are living in the End Times.
It is of the greatest importance and urgencyfor our Muslim brothers to
tell people of the proofs of the existence of Allah, to spread the
scientific evidence that Darwinism is a fraud, to impart the glad
tidings of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and strive for the immediate
establishment of Turkish-Islamic Union in order to overcome the
movement of the antichrist.
There is no doubt that the Golden Age that will take place in the End
Times is drawing closer every day, Very soon, insha'Allah, everyone
will attain a world in which people fully live by love, compassion and
affection, in which abundance, wealth, well-being and peace prevail,
and in which wesee the highest levels of art and beauty. Women,
children and the elderly will be able to move around safely, and
everywhere there will be a climate of joy, vivacity and friendship.
Our Prophet (saas) tells us of this happy and enlightened time in a
hadith:
"...At a time when the world will be in harj u marj, corruption will
appear, people will be attacked, the old will nothave mercy on the
young, and the young will not show respect to the old, Allah will send
someone [Hazrat Mahdi (as)] to eradicate hostility, conquer the
castles of perversion, uphold faith in the End Times just as I upheld
it formerly; someone who will fill this Earth with justice where
violence prevailed before. (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat
al-Mahdi Akhir az-Zaman, p. 12)

Mockery is a disease fromJaahiliyyah

Allaah The Almighty forbids us from mocking people as He Says (what
means): } O you who havebelieved, let not a peopleridicule [another]
people;perhaps they may be better than them { [Quran49:11]
Adh-Dhahhaak said,
This verse was revealed when members of the Banu Tameem delegationwere
mocking the poor Companions like 'Ammaar, Khabbaab, Bilaal, Suhayb,
Salmaan, and Saalim the slave of Abu Huthayfah, may Allaah be pleased
with allof them, because of their shabby clothes. But there are other
opinions as well. It was said that this verse was revealed
when'Ikrimah ibn Abu Jahl came to Madeenah as a Muslim and the people
there would call him the 'Son of the pharaoh of this Ummah' whenever
they saw him. So, he complained to the Prophet and this verse was
revealed. It was also said that this verse was revealed when Thaabit
ridiculed a man because of his mother in Jaahiliyyah [pre-Islamic
ignorance] and the man was disgraced.
Commenting on this verse, Al-Qurtubi said, "Allaah says here that
those who believe in Himand in His Messenger should not ridicule other
believers as they may be better than them. Also, women should not
ridicule each other for the same reason."
He also said, " Allaah is referring here to all sorts of mockery in
this prohibition for the believers. Hence, it is impermissible for any
believer to mock anotherbeliever: either for being poor, or for a sin
that he has committed, or for anyother reason."
Al-Qurtubi added,
In general, no one shoulddare to ridicule another person even if that
person was shabby, handicapped or inarticulate, for that person may be
more sincere or may have a purer heart than the one who is not shabby
or handicapped or inarticulate. In this case, ridiculing such a person
would be despising someone whom Allaah has honored. The righteous
predecessors were keen on avoiding this to the extent that 'Amr ibn
Shurahbeel said, "If I saw a man suckling a goat and laughed at him, I
would fear that I might end up doing the same thing." It was reported
that 'Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood said that affliction depends on what a
person says. Hence, he said that if he mocked a dog, he would fear
that he would be turned into a dog.
In his commentary on theverse (which means): } But you took them in
mockery to the point thatthey made you forget My remembrance, and you
used to laugh at them { [Quran 23:110], Al-Qurtubi said that this
verse is a warning against mocking, despising or ridiculing the weak
and the needy to the point that it wouldmake us forget remembering
Allaah and would thus keep us far from Him. In a Hadeeth onthe
authority of 'Aa'ishah she said, "I said to the Prophet 'It is enough
for you that Safiyyah is such-and-such [meaning that she was short].'
The Prophet replied: 'You have said a word that could adulterate the
water of the sea if it were mixed with it.' " Shealso said, "I once
imitateda man before him [ridiculing him] and He said: 'I would never
like to imitate anyone, even ifI were to get such- and-such [a reward
for it].' " [Abu Daawood and At-Tirmithi]
Another example is whenAbu Tharr abused a man by calling his mother
bad names, the Prophet, , said to him: " O Abu Tharr! Did you abuse
him by calling his mother bad names? You still have some
characteristics of Jaahiliyyah in you." [Al-Bukhaari]
In a Hadeeth on the authority of Umm Haani' the Prophet, , said about
the verse (which means): } and commit in your meetings [every] evil {
[Quran 29:29] that they used to despise and mock people. [Ahmad and
At-Tirmithi]
The polytheists of Makkah like Abu Jahl, Al-Waleed ibn Al-Mugheerah
and their likes would mock 'Ammaar, Suhayb, Bilaal and other poor
believers;hence, Allaah The Almighty revealed the verse (which means):
} Indeed, those who committed crimes used tolaugh at those who
believed. { [Quran 83:29]
It was said that 'Ali was once walking with a number of Muslims and
some hypocrites mocked them and they exchanged derisory glances. When
they returned to their people, they said, "We have seen the bald one
[i.e., 'Ali ]today." Hence, the abovementioned verse was revealed
before 'Ali reached the Prophet, to inform him of what had happened .
Sarcasm and Derision are Forms of Mockery
Sarcasm and derision are forms of mockery. An example of this is when
one derides another for being poor, handicappedor for committing a
sin. Moreover, calling people by offensive nicknames isanother example
of mockery. Al-Qurtubi said that calling people by offensive nicknames
means calling them by names or attributes that they hate. Allaah The
Almighty generalized thisrule and did not specify certain nicknames.
It is impermissible for any Muslim to call his fellow brother by any
nickname or any attribute that he hates. Allaah The Almighty Says
(what means): } O you who havebelieved, let not a peopleridicule
[another] people;perhaps they may be better than them .} [Quran 49:11]
There are several stories as to the revelation of this verse. Anas and
Ibn Zayd said that the abovementioned verse was revealed when someof
the wives of the Prophet, , ridiculed Safiyyah for being short. It was
also said that this verse was revealed when 'Aa'ishah indicated by her
handto the Prophet, , that Safiyyah was short. Moreover, 'Ikrimah and
Ibn 'Abbaas said that this verse was revealed when Safiyyah bint
Huyayy said: "O Messenger of Allaah! The women ridicule me and say to
me, 'O Jew...'" All these examples show that calling people by
offensive nicknames is a form of mockery. They were mentioned in the
verse as a way of mentioning the specific cases after the general rule
in order to emphasize its importance. The scorner is the person who
harms people by his tongue, while the mocker is the one who winks with
his eyes. Ibn Kaysaan saidthat the scorner is the one who hurts others
with bad words, while the mocker is the one who points to others with
his eyes, his head and his eyebrows.
The Difference Between Mocking and Ridiculing
There are two differences between them. The first is that ridiculing
can be done bydeeds or words, whereas, mocking is done only by deeds.
The second is that ridiculing is usually preceded by an act that
causes its doer to be an object of ridicule, while mocking is not
preceded by such an act. Mocking isusually accompanied by words that
are uttered with a bad intention. It occurs when the person seems to
be serious whilehe conceals joking. As-Saffaareeni said, "Mocking
people and ridiculing them are prohibited because Allaah The Almighty
Says (what means): {O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule
[another] people; perhaps they may be better than them} [Quran 49:11]
Moreover, the Prophet prohibited this in many Hadeeths."
Ridicule and the Germs ofArrogance and Pride
Only those whose souls are impure because of arrogance and pride
ridicule others. They endeavor to hurt others because of the feeling
of superiority that runs in their diseased veins. Satan ridiculed
Aadam (Adam) and said, "I ambetter than him" and so he became a loser.
Had he thought carefully of the characteristics of Aadam he would
haverealized that Aadam was superior to him. Mockery is one of the
diseases of Jaahiliyyah that should be avoided, especially at times of
conflict and disputes. It isone of the characteristics of the
disbelievers and the hypocrites that leads to the disunity of the
society. In fact, it is an overt violation of the Commands of Allaah
The Almighty, and it keeps one away from the pleasure of Allaah.
Moreover, it makes one forget to remember Allaah and causes him to be
inflicted with His punishment.
