has become a month of shopping insanity, presidedover by a mythical
sub-deity named Santa. People go into debt, they fight over sale
goods… no mention is made of faith.
We Muslims fall prey to thesame consumerist lifestyle. Sometimes the
holy monthof Ramadan becomes a month of shopping, sleeping and binge
eating, astaghfirullah.
Let us – Christians, Muslims,Jews and all people of God – not follow
this path. Let'shew to a way of sacrifice, zakat (purification),
sadaqah (charity), zuhd (giving up material luxury).We don't have to
be monks, but we must focus on the things that matter: faith and
family./

to understand men.
Whil attempting to understand men you will begin to realize they
usually don't know what they want or need from a woman. They say one
thing and do another. Theysend mixed messages and confuse the mess out
of you!
I have confused many women during my lifetime but it was never on
purpose. I truly did not know what I wanted or needed from me, my life
oranyone else for that matter.
I ended up hurting people when I didn't mean too. And I am truly sorry
for thepain I unwillingly caused.
After many failed relationships, spending more time with me,
identifying what I desired out of life, talking with men and women and
observing people in relationships, I began to understand what men need
and want from a woman!
Thousands of men will spend years trying to identify and understand
what they want and need. Some will succeed but most will not. Just
look around you! I am sure you know a lot of confused men you don't
understand.
What you're about to read may piss you off. You will call me a few
names beforeyou are finished. How do I know? People have written to me
saying,"..stop spreading this crap. It's just garbage." Can't please
everyone!
And there are those who thank me for the insights and how it helped
them in understanding men.
What I find intriguing is not the insults but the fact that many
people find it difficult to believe there are millions of men in the
world who think this way. Yet, they believe they trulywant to
understand men! They are only fooling themselves!
I'm just telling what I've witnessed over the past 20years from men in
the Boardroom, Wall Street, Post Office, etc.
One thing you must keep in mind is I'm not talking about all men. I
would estimate, based on my experience, 85% of good men may feel this
way. Notice I said, "good men."
That should scare you because if "good men" feel this way then how do
the other men feel who are not good men? Unfortunately, you should
know as you may have gotten involved with a fewof them!
You are going to take a journey into the mind of good men and how to
understand men. Some of it may seem too simple. Other times, you'll
think I'm crazy. And there will beinstances when you think I've really
lost my mind. Yet, I tell you I've witnessed these behaviors over and
over again. If you truly want to understand men read the information
with an open mind.
Unlike many women, I don't listen to what men say. I watch their
actions. And it's their actions that tell me what they really want and
need from a woman. I just gave you a major hint on how to understand
men. Read the previous two sentences again.
For example, if I know a man has a good woman at home and he's out
cheating that tells me a lot about him and what he really wants from a
woman.
If he treats his woman nicewhen company is around and call her all
sorts of names in private or treats her like crap, I know what he
really wants from a woman.
If he spends more time at work, with his friends or doing other things
withouthis woman that tells me what he really wants from a woman
One thing you should keep in mind is this course is for entertainment
purposes only. We are going to take an entertaining look at how to
understand men, what men need and want from women.
While I have witnessed and experienced what I'm about to reveal to
you, I can't guarantee other men will fit this model. Although I may
be off in a few areas I'm usually consistent and accurate.
The only way to truly find out if I'm on target is to read it, think
about the previous and current men in your life and see if there is
some validity to what I'm saying.
Your experience is more important than mine. I'm just providing you
with theframework to make sense of, and understand, men./

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَآءَ
لَجَعَلَهُ سَاكِناً ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلاً
(45. Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow. If He willed,
He could have made it still — but We have made the sunits guide.)
ثُمَّ قَبَضْنَـهُ إِلَيْنَا قَبْضاً يَسِيراً
(46. Then We withdraw it towards Ourselves — a gradual withdrawal.)
وَهُوَ الَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الَّيْلَ لِبَاساً وَالنَّوْمَ سُبَاتاً
وَجَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُوراً
(47. And it is He Who makes the night a coveringfor you, and the
sleep (as) a repose, and makes the day Nushur.)
Surah 25 Al Furqan Verse 45-47
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Here Allah begins explaining the evidence forHis existence and His
perfect power to create various things and pairs of opposites. Allah
says:
(Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow.) Ibn `Abbas, Ibn
`Umar, Abu Al-`Aliyah, Abu Malik, Masruq, Mujahid, Sa`id bin Jubayr,
An-Nakha`i, Ad-Dahhak, Al-Hasan, Qatadah, As-Suddi and others said,
"This refers to the period from the beginning of the dawn until the
sun rises."
(If He willed, He could havemade it still) meaning, immobile, never
changing. This is like the Ayat:
(Say : "Tell me! If Allah made the night continuousfor you…") (28:71)
(but We have made the sun its guide.) means, wereit not for the sun
rising, it would not be there, for a thing can only be known
incontrast to its opposite. Qatadah and As-Suddi said,"The sun is a
guide which follows the shade until the shade disappears. "
(Then We withdraw it towards Ourselves — a gradual withdrawal.) This
refers to the shade.
(gradual) meaning slowly. As-Suddi said: "A gentle, concealed,
withdrawal until there is no shade left on earth except under a roof
or a tree, and the sun is shining on whatever is above it."
(a gradual withdrawal.) Ayyub bin Musa said: "Littleby little.
(And it is He Who makes the night a covering for you,) It covers and
concealsall things. This is like the Ayah:
(By the night as it envelops) (92:1).
(and the sleep a repose,) means, a halt to movement so that bodies may
rest. For the faculties and limbs get tired from their constant
movement during the day when one goes out to earn a living. When night
comes, and it becomes quiet, they stop moving, and rest; so sleep
provides a rejuvenation forboth the body and the soul.
(and makes the day Nushur) meaning, people get up and go out to earn a
living and attend to their business. This is like the Ayah:
(It is out of His mercy that He has made for you the night and the day
that you may rest therein and that you may seek of His bounty…)
(28:73)
وَهُوَ الَّذِى أَرْسَلَ الرِّيَـحَ بُشْرَى بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَحْمَتِهِ
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً طَهُوراً
(48. And it is He Who sendsthe winds as heralds of glad tidings, going
before His mercy; and We send down pure water from the sky,)
لِّنُحْيِىَ بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتاً وَنُسْقِيَهِ مِمَّا خَلَقْنَآ
أَنْعَـماً وَأَنَاسِىَّ كَثِيراً
(49. That We may give life thereby to a dead land, and We give to
drink thereof many of the cattle and men that We have created.)
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَـهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُواْ فَأَبَى أَكْثَرُ
النَّاسِ إِلاَّ كُفُوراً
(50. And indeed We have distributed it among them in order that they
may remember the grace of Allah, but most men refuse (out of)
gratitude.)

myheart the moment I said "the Shahadah" of Twahid and became a

The moment he became a Muslim he surely knew that2 loves can't be
together ina believer's heart : love of Allah and love of Haram

Story -:->The Lottery

The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of
a full-summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass
was richly green. The people of the village began to gather in the
square, between the post office and the bank, around ten o'clock; in
some towns there were somany people that the lottery took two days and
had to be started on June 2th. but in this village, where there were
only about three hundred people, the whole lottery took less than two
hours, so it could begin at ten o'clock in the morning andstill be
through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner.
The children assembled first, of course. School was recently over for
the summer, and the feeling of liberty sat uneasily on most of them;
they tendedto gather together quietly for a while before they broke
into boisterous play.and their talk was still of the classroom and the
teacher, of books and reprimands. Bobby Martin had already stuffed his
pockets full of stones, and the other boys soon followed his example,
selecting the smoothest and roundest stones; Bobby and Harry Jones and
Dickie Delacroix-- the villagers pronounced this
name"Dellacroy"--eventually made a great pile of stones in one corner
of thesquare and guarded it against the raids of the other boys. The
girls stoodaside, talking among themselves, looking over their
shoulders at the boys. and the very small children rolled in the dust
or clung to the hands of their older brothers or sisters.
Soon the men began to gather. surveying their own children, speaking
of planting and rain, tractors and taxes. They stood together, away
from the pile of stones in the corner, and their jokes were quiet and
they smiled rather than laughed. The women, wearing faded house
dresses and sweaters, came shortly after their menfolk. They greeted
oneanother and exchanged bits of gossip as they wentto join their
husbands. Soon the women, standingby their husbands, began to call to
their children, and the children came reluctantly, having to be called
four or five times. Bobby Martin ducked under his mother's grasping
hand and ran, laughing, back to the pile of stones. His father spoke
up sharply, and Bobby came quickly and took his place between his
father and his oldest brother.
The lottery was conducted--as were the square dances, the teen club,
the Halloween program--by Mr. Summers.who had time and energy to
devote to civic activities. He was a round-faced, jovial man and he
ran the coal business, and people were sorry for him.because he had no
children and his wife was a scold. When he arrived in the square,
carrying the black wooden box, there was a murmur of conversation
among the villagers, and he waved and called. "Little late today,
folks." The postmaster, Mr. Graves, followed him, carrying a three-
legged stool, and the stool was put in the center of the square and
Mr. Summers set the black box down on it. The villagers kept their
distance, leaving a space between themselves and the stool. and when
Mr. Summers said, "Some of you fellows want to give me a hand?" there
was a hesitation before two men. Mr. Martin and his oldest son,
Baxter. came forward to hold the box steady on the stool while Mr.
Summers stirred up the papers inside it.
The original paraphernaliafor the lottery had been lost long ago, and
the black box now resting on the stool had been put into use even
before Old Man Warner, the oldest man in town, was born. Mr. Summers
spoke frequently to the villagers about making a new box, but no one
liked to upset even as much tradition as was represented by the black
box. There was a story that the present box had been made with
somepieces of the box that had preceded it, the one that had been
constructed when the first people settled down to make a village here.
Every year, after the lottery, Mr. Summers began talking again about a
new box, but every year the subject was allowed to fade off without
anything's being done.

As for the phrase, 'by the ink of His words' this encompasses all
three types; the ink of His words have no end to their measure,
description or number. Allāh says, 'Say: If the sea were ink for
(writing) the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the
words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as
a supplement. [3] Allāh also says, 'and if whatever treesupon the
earth were pens and the sea (was ink), replenished thereafter by seven
(more) seas, the words of Allāh would not be exhausted. Indeed,
Allāhis Exalted in Might and Wise. [4]
The meaning of the verse isthat if we were to imagine the seas to be
ink and add a further seven seas to extend it, all of them
representing ink and then all the plants of the earth were pens - this
includes any plant or vegetation that stands on a stem - andthe pens
draw from that ink, the seas and the pens would be exhausted whereas
the words of the Lord would not expire. How does this compare to one
who describes Him as He who has not spoken, does not speak and that
nospeech occurs from Him at all? Or one who describes His speech as
being a singlemeaning that is not distinctnor in parts; that it is not
described as being part or whole; nor is it sūrahs and āyāt or letters
and words?
The point is that this glorification includes descriptions of
perfection and attributes of grandeur that necessitate it to be better
than other forms of remembrance and that if other words were to be
weighed against it would measure against them and outweigh them. This
is a portion of what these words contain in relation to the
understanding of Allāh; praise of Him through exaltation and
veneration, along with the link to praising (ḥamd) thatcomprises of
three fundamentals. The first is the affirmation of perfect attributes
for Him subḥānahu, and praise of Him. The second is love of Him and
contentment withHim. When this praise (ḥamd) is added to this
glorification (tasbīḥ) and exaltation in the best possible manner;
with the greatest level, greatest quantity and greatest description,
and the servant recalls all of this when glorifying (Allāh) andsuch
understanding dwells in his heart; these words ofremembrance will
contain such merit and excellence that outstrip others forms, and with
Allāh lies all success. [5]

We can get so caught up intrying to fix other people's problems, that
we forget to fix ourselves. We can spend all our time helping family
members, running around, "sacrificing", while our own souls are weary,
discouraged and approaching despair. We can champion important causes,
or do vital work in our jobs, while we cover upor ignore wounds from
ourpast, until we cannot even look at ourselves with respect or love.
I suppose we all have our coping mechanisms. For me, it's martial
arts. When I'm troubled or unhappy, I tend to immerse myself in my
martial arts practice. It occupies my mind, allows me to forget my
problems, and wears out my body so I can sleep.
Others may plunge themselves into their work,or distract themselves
withbooks, music or television, or busy themselves with other people's
problems. But you can only keep this up for so long. If you don't face
what's going on internally, the darkness willeventually spread and
blot everything else out.
We have to come to terms with ourselves, or happiness will elude us forever.

I'm thinking of a ragtag group of desert Arabs, who,in the course of a
single generation, transformed the world forever. I am speaking of
course of the Prophet Muhammad (peacebe upon him) and his companions.
What they didwas impossible – there's noother word for it. But through
the power of Allah, and the tremendous determination of one man, and
the faith of those who followed him, the impossible became possible.
Because of their faith and sacrifices, you andI can utter the words, "
Laa ilaha-il-Allah " and put them into practice in our lives.
Your dreams don't have to be that grand. Whether you dream of building
a new masjid for your community, writing a novel, competing in sports,
becoming a doctor, doing charity work overseas, memorizing the Quran,
or any other good and meaningful goal – it can beachieved by the will
of Allah. But you can't just sit back and wait for it to happen. Feed
your dream as you would feed a newly planted seed. Care for it, devote
time to it, don't give up, and watch it grow before your eyes.

The chemical - curcumin - has long been thought to have healing powers
and is already being tested as a treatment for arthritis and even
dementia.
Now tests by a team at the Cork Cancer Research Centre show it can
destroygullet cancer cells in the lab.
Cancer experts said the findings in the British Journal of Cancer
could help doctors find new treatments.
Dr Sharon McKenna and her team found that curcumin started to kill
cancer cells within 24 hours.
'Natural' remedy
The cells also began to digest themselves, after the curcumin
triggered lethal cell death signals.
Dr McKenna said:"Scientists have known fora long time that natural
compounds have the potential to treat faulty cells that have become
cancerous and we suspected that curcumin might have therapeutic
value."
Dr Lesley Walker, director of cancer information at Cancer Research
UK, said:"This is interesting research which opens up the possibility
that naturalchemicals found in turmeric could be developed into new
treatments for oesophageal cancer.
"Rates of oesophageal cancer have gone up by more than a half since
the 70s and this is thought to be linked to rising rates of obesity,
alcohol intake andreflux disease so finding ways to prevent this
disease is important too."
Each year around 7,800 people are diagnosed withoesophageal cancer in
the UK. It is the sixth most common cause of cancer death and accounts
for around five percent of all UK cancer deaths.

"Know that if you harm tenpeople, you will have enemies, even if they
are your mothers and fathers, but if you do good to ten people who are
not your relatives, they will become like mothers and fathers toyou.
If you enter Basra and oppose its people, elevate yourself over them,
vaunt your knowledge among them, and hold yourself aloof from their
company, you will shun them and they will shun you; you will curse
them and they will curse you; you will consider them misguided and
they will think you misguided and an innovator. Ignominy will attach
itself to you and us, and you will have to flee from them. This is not
an option. It is not an intelligent person who is unsociable to the
one who is unsociable until Allah shows him a way out.
When you go to Basra, the people will receive you, visit you and
acknowledge your due, so put each person in his proper position.
Honour the people of honour, esteem the people of knowledge and
respect the shaykhs. Bekind to the young and draw near to the common
people. Be courteous to theimpious but keep the company of the good.
Do not disregard the authorities or demean anyone. Do not fall short
inyour chivalry and do not disclose your secrets to anyone or trust
them until you have tested them. Do not socialise with the base or the
weak. Do not accustom yourself to what you disapprove of outwardly.
Beware of speaking freely with fools. You must have courtesy,
patience, endurance, good character and forbearance. Renew your
clothing regularly, have a good mount and use a lot of what is good.
Offer your food to people: a miser never prevails. You should have as
your confidants those you knowto be the best of people.
When you discern corruption, you should immediately rectify it. When
you discern righteousness, you should increase your attention to it.
Act on behalf of those who visit you and those who donot. Be good to
those who are good to you and those who are bad to you. Adopt pardon
and command the correct. Ignore what does not concern you. Leave all
that will harm you. Hasten to establish people's rights.
If any of your brethren is ill, visit him yourself and send your
messengers. Inquire after those who areabsent. If any of them holds
back from you do nothold back from him.
Show affection to people as much as possible and greet even
blameworthy people. When you meet others in a gathering or join them
in a mosque and questions are discussed in a way different to your
position, do not rush to disagree. If you are asked, tell the people
what you know and then say, "There is another position on it which is
such-and-such, and the evidence is such-and-such." If they listen to
you, they will recognise your worth and the worth of what you have. If
they ask, "Whose position is that?" reply, "One of the fuqahā".
Give everyone who frequents you some of the knowledge they are
expecting. Be friendly with them and joke with them sometimes and chat
with them. Love encourages people to persevere in knowledge. Feed them
sometimes and fulfil their needs. Acknowledge their worth and overlook
their faults. Be kind to them and tolerant of them. Do not show them
annoyance or vexation. Be like one of them. Do not burden people with
what they cannot do."

If not now, when?
The time is now, the place is here, the person is you. You are hereby
appointed. Fulfill the mission that Allah has placed you here to do.
Exercise your unique talents fee-sabeel-illah. You'll never hear a
starting gun telling you to sprint. Just do it, inch one foot forward,
then the other, and you will find yourself moving toward your dream.
Don't let yourself be stopped by naysayers. Remember what Allah said
to Musa: "…let not the one who believes not therein but follows his
own lusts, divert you therefrom, lest you perish."
Do what's in your heart, and don't listen to those who wouldcut you
down, mock you, or doubt your ability.
Raise your children as Muslims. Often Muslim parents do not actively
teach their children the deen, thinking that the children will somehow
pick it up by osmosis. Or they fool themselves into thinking that
dropping the kids off for Sunday school at the Masjid is sufficient
(it's not). Don't wait, and don't count on anyone else to educate your
children. Remember that your children do not belong to you, but to
Allah. They are an
amanah (a trust), and you are their shepherd, so raise your flock
well. The time is now, and you are the person. Make time for your
kids, teach them by example and by textbook, raise them with care as
you would a garden.
So many of us want to be betterMuslims. We envision a time in the
future, near or far, when wewill give up bad habits, perfect our
salat, memorize more Quran, worship more fully in Ramadan, and ready
ourselves for Jannah. And yet that time does not arrive… we're not
quite ready, not there yet… But the Messenger of Allah (sws) said,
"Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth,
before you become old; and your health, before you fall sick; and your
richness, before you become poor; and your free time before you become
busy; and your life, before your death."
(Musnad Imam Ahmad, Narratedby Ibn Abbaas).
The place is here. The time is this moment, while you have your youth,
health, wealth, time and life itself. None of us is assured another
sunrise, or another evening on this earth. Death waits for no man or
woman, but comes upon us on the wing, like a raven in the night.
The time is now. The place is here. The person is you.

proverb is saying that a cloud is like a promise, offering hope of
needed sustenance but not really giving it. If you want to be real,
bring the rain.
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, said, "There are three signs of a hypocrite: whenever he
speaks, he lies; whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; and
whenever he is trusted, he betrays his trust." [Agreed upon] It is
added in a variant of Muslim, "Even if he fasts and prays and claims
that he is a Muslim."
Deceivers and hypocrites are clouds that pass over again and again but
bring no rain, leaving only drought and hunger in their wake.
Now, before anyone sends me a message saying, "Only Allah can bring
rain!" – I don't mean it literally. I'm speaking metaphorically, in
keeping with the proverb.
Andrew Carnegie, the famous industrialist, observed, "As I grow older
I pay less attention to whatmen say. I just watch what they do."
If you want to make a real difference in the world, if you want to
better your situation and your family's lives, if you want people
totake you seriously, then don't only talk. Do. Bring it.
Do that consistently and people will take your wordlike a Himalayan
mountain.You will move ahead in lifelike an orca – the most powerful
swimmer in the sea – cutting through the waves. And you will have one
of the characteristics ofa true believer, as the keeping of promises
is one of the most important aspects of Imaan (faith). (I should point
out that the exception would be a promise to do something evil – such
a promise should be broken, since there is no virtue in doing haram,
and therefore no virtue in keeping the promise).
"O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations." (Quran 5:1)
Amir al-Mu'minin (Commander of the Faithful) 'Ali (RA), in his letter
to Malik al-Ashtar, wrote:
"If you conclude an agreement between yourself and your enemy or enter
into a pledge with him, then fulfil your agreement and discharge your
pledge faithfully. Place yourself as a shield against whatever you
havepledged, because among the obligations of Allah there is nothing
on which people are more firmly united despite the difference of their
ideas and variation of their viewsthan respect for fulfilling
pledges."
Words are important. They are a starting point, and they have the
power to heal or hurt. But even moreimportant are actions. Fulfill
your promises. Practice what you preach. Do. Bring it.

Health:-/ IT’S DELICIOUS But it can bring on a headache.

Just sipping a cool drink or eating an ice cream could cause a
splitting headache. It's brain freeze, a commonmedical condition that
one does not need to worry about:

It is rock solid — a Himalayan peak in miniature. A quick spoonful
into the mouth —aaaaaah! A sharp, shootingpain travels to the head!
One moment, I'm enjoying a scoop of ice cream, the next, my mind is
numb andmy face, scrunched in agony. Did a rare germ survive in the
cup to attackthe brain? A mini powder bomb? Ah, no, it's the
brainfreeze.
You've had the dreaded ice-cream headache, right? There you are,
biting into an ice candy or sipping a milk shake, and suddenly you are
hit with the most awful headache! But don't blame the candy, it's not
acting alone. The roof of your mouth, your nerves and blood vessels
are involved too!
Change in temperature
"This happens because of the sudden change in temperature at the
roof," explained Dr. L. P. Mohan, dental surgeon. "In medicalterms,
there's vasodilatation, (dilatation of blood vessels) triggeringlocal
pain receptors causing prostaglandins to be released, which cause
pain, sensitivity and inflammation at the site of release. This
localised pain is taken up by the trigeminal nerve to send signals to
the brain. Since the trigeminal nerve senses pain from the entireface
through its many branches, the brain interprets the signal of the
brain freeze to be coming from the forehead, hence causing discomfort
in that region. The attack is called Spenopalatine Ganglioneuralgia —
neuro being nerves, algia being pain. Spenopalatine ganglia are the
nerves of the palate." Phew! All of this is a mouthful, so let's stick
with "brain freeze!"
Joseph Hulihan put it this way: when something coldtouches the roof of
the mouth, an alarm goes off. The "cold" signal tells the brain to
keep itself warm, and the rush of blood builds up pressure that
canlead to a headache. There is dilation of blood vessels, caused by a
nerve centre located above the roof of your mouth — when this nerve
centre gets cold, it seems to over-react.
The "delicious" pain was unravelled by researchers from Harvard
University, the University of Ireland, and the Department of Veterans'
Affairs. Volunteers were given ice water (no ice-cream!), and a
trans-cranial Doppler measured the rush of blood to the anterior
cerebral artery, the part of the brain that funnels oxygen to the
frontal lobe.
Funny why it should be called brain freeze. The pain associated with
brain freezes is the result of rapid cooling and warming, causing your
blood vessels to contract and then dilate quickly. Your body looks at
the rapid temperature change in your mouth as an indication of a
dangerouslycold environment, and so your blood cells contract
toconserve body heat. As the substance is swallowed, your blood cells
return to their previous size and it is this oscillation that is so
painful. If you've noticed, a brain freeze starts after you've
swallowed your bite!
Typically, the pain strikes within 10 seconds of the "ice cream
attack" and lastsfor about 20 seconds (It feels like much longer!).
But it may spread to the teeth, warns Dr. Mohan. "Though the teeth are
not directly involved in the brain freeze mechanism, the sudden
exposure to cold may affect teeth," he said. "The teeth may go in for
a thermal shock — a sharp pain. This affects the vital pulp tissue
lying beneath the enamel and dentine. You get 'teeth freeze.'"
All this is not going to make you swear off ice-cream, no way! You
don't have to feel helpless either. "Stop cold food from touching the
roof of your mouth," says Dr. Mohan. "Quickly warm the roof of your
mouth with your tongue. (It eases the surge of blood flow to
yourbrain.) Better still, avoid extremely cold food. Or choose a
slightly warmer environment. This will reduce the impact of cold
food." And best of all, eat cold foods slowly.

The war memorial arch, Gateway of India, was built by the British in

anticipated event Parade Republic Day takes place on 26 January of

Rashtrapati Bhavan at one end and National Stadium in another.
As we go along Rajpath, across Raisina Hill - the administrative
center of India, we find the two secretariat buildings - North Block

Allah's statement,
"thereof the growth is pleasing to the tiller;"
meaning that farmers admire the vegetation thatgrows in the aftermath
of rain. And just as farmers admire vegetation, the disbelievers
admire this life; they are the most eager to acquire the traits of
life, and life is most dear to them,
"afterwards it dries up and you see it turning yellow; then it becomes straw."
Meaning, that vegetation soon turns yellow in color, after being fresh
and green. After that, the greenfades away and becomes scattered
pieces of dust. This is the parable of this worldly life, it starts
young,then matures and then turns old and feeble. This isalso the
parable of mankind in this life; they are young and strong in the
beginning. In this stageof life, they look youthful and handsome.
Slowly, they begin growing older, their mannerism changes and their
strength weakens. They then grow old and feeble; moving becomes
difficult for them, while doing easy things becomes beyond their
ability. Allah the Exalted said,
"Allah is He Who created you in (a state of) weakness, then gave
youstrength after weakness, then after strength gave (you) weakness
and gray hair. He creates what He wills. And He is the All-Knowing,
the All-Powerful." (30:54)
This parable indicates the near demise of this life andthe imminent
end of it, while in contrast, the Hereafter is surely coming. Those
who hear this parable should, therefore, be aware of the significance
of the Hereafter and feel eagerness in the goodness that it contains,
"But in the Hereafter (there is) a severe torment, and (there is)
forgiveness from Allah and (His) pleasure. And the life of this world
is only a deceiving enjoyment."
Meaning, surely, the Hereafter that will certainlycome contains two
things either severe punishment or forgiveness from Allah and His good
pleasure.

Gas-filled balloons exploded at a campaign rally in the Armenian
capital of Yerevan on Friday, injuring 154 people.
Armenian authorities are working to identify what gas was used to blow
up the balloons, RIA-Novosti reported, citing a statement by the
country's emergency services ministry. The balloons were apparently
not filled with helium or regular air, both of which are commonly used
for the purpose and neither of which are explosive.
As a result of the explosion,154 demonstrators standing near the
balloons at a rally of the Armenian Republican Party received burns
and were hospitalized. As of early Saturday, more than 70 people
remained in the hospital, Interfax reported.
The rally took place in a central square in Yerevan ahead of
parliamentary elections in Armenia scheduled for Sunday.
Armenian authorities are investigating whether the explosion was set
off by someone purposefully or was an accident, a police spokesman
told Interfax.

The full moon of May will hit its peak overnight tonight and early
Sunday (May 5 and 6) just one minute after the moon makes its closest
approach to Earth. The timing means the moon, weather permitting,
could appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the
average full moon, an event scientists have nicknamed the "supermoon."
The moon will be at its fullest at 11:35 p.m. EDT (0335 Sunday GMT)
just after hitting perigee, the point in its orbit that brings the
moon closest to Earth. The technical name for the event is a "perigee
moon," though NASA and other scientists have dubbed May's full moon as
the supermoon of 2012.
The moon will be about 221,802 miles (356,955 kilometers) from Earth,
about 12.2 percent closer to our planet than when the moon is at
apogee, its farthest point. The average Earth-moon distance is about
230,000 miles (384,400 km).
The last time a supermoon occurred was in March 2011. That supermoon
wasactually closer to Earth than the moon will be tonight by about 248

If His benevolence, reward, blessing and goodness has no end when all
of these are a consequence and result of His pleasure, whatthen of
this attribute of His pleasure? It is related in a tradition, 'If I
bless, there is no end to my blessing.' What then of the quality from
where this blessing emanated? Pleasure necessitates love, benevolence,
generosity, kindness, pardon, ṣafḥ, forgiveness and mercy.
Juwayriyyah, the mother ofthe believers, may Allāh pleased with her,
related that the Prophet, may Allāhsend peace and blessings upon him,
left her sitting inher place of prayer one morning after having prayed
Fajr. On his return during the forenoon he found her still sitting as
he had left her, he asked
, 'Are you still in the same state as when I left you?' She replied,
'Yes'. The Prophet said, 'I said after leaving you four sentences
three times - if you were toweigh them against what you have said
today up until now, they would outweigh them: Subḥānallāh wa biḥamdihi
'adada khalqihi wa riḍā nafsihi wa zinata 'arshihi wa midāda
kalimātihi'."[ [1]
Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, provided a commentary
onthese words of remembrance in one of his works, al-Manār al-Munīf
fi'l-Ṣaḥīḥ wa'l-Ḍa'īf [2] He says:
In regards to the multifold excellence of, "How perfect Allāh is and I
praise him by the number of His creation;by the pleasure of His self;
by the weight of His throneand by the ink of His words," over simply
saying,"How perfect Allāh is," a praiser's knowledge of Allāh and the
exaltation and veneration of Him thatoccurs in his heart is far
greater. This is known as intensified remembrance (dhikr muḍā'af) and
is a superior form of praise than simple remembrance (dhikr mufrad),
and as suchthe former is preferred to the latter. This really takes
affect once one has awareness and understanding of these words of
remembrance.

Qur'an Ayath - Explanation :-/:-> ECONOMIC RIGHTS for MUSLIM WOMEN

The Qur'an states: "by the creation of the male and female: Verily
[the ends] ye strive for are diverse"(92:3-4)
In these verses, God declares that he created men and women to be
different, with unique roles, functions and skills. As in society,
where there is a division of labor so too in a family, each member has
different responsibilities. Generally, Islam upholds that woman are
entrusted with the nurturing role, and men, with the guardian role.
Therefore woman are given the right of financial support.
The Qur'an states: "Men arethe maintainers of woman because Allah has
made some of them to excel others and because they spend of their
wealth (for the support of woman" (4:34)
This guardianship and greater financial responsibility is given to men
requires that they provide women with not only monetary support
butalso physical protection and kind and respectful treatment.
Muslim woman have the privilege to earn money, the right to own
property, to enter into legal contracts and to manage all of her
assets in any way she pleases. She can run her own business and no one
has any claim on her earnings including her husband. The Quran states:
"and in no wise covet those things in which Allah hath bestowed his
gifts more freely on someof you than on others: to men is allotted
what theyearn and to woman whatthey earn: but ask Allah of his bounty
for Allah hath full knowledge of allthings." (4:32)

Tips to increase your fibre intake
*. Supplement your chapathi dough with finely ground oat meal or soy
flour. This increases the fibre content in your rotis .
*. Choose unpolished rice over the white rice you eat now. Unpolished
rice has more nutrients and higher fibre content in comparison to
polished, white rice.
*. Use whole-grain breads and cereals for breakfast.
*. A glass of fruit juice is void of fibre, so choose whole fruits to
derive greater nutritional benefits.
*. If possible, eat your veggies with skin, for example carrots,
potatoes and radish have a lot of fibre in their skins.

Story - WOMEN'S LIBERATION THROUGH ISLAM

Today people think that women are liberated in theWest and that the
women's liberation movement began in the 20th century. Actually, the
women's liberation movement was not begun by women but was revealed by
God to a man in the seventh century by the name of Muhammad (peace be
upon him), who is known as the last Prophet of Islam. The Qur'an and
the Traditions of the Prophet (Hadith or Sunnah) are the sources from
which every Muslim woman derives her rights and duties.
I. HUMAN RIGHTS
Islam, fourteen centuries ago, made women equally accountable to God
in glorifying and worshippingHim - setting no limits on her moral
progress. Also, Islam established a woman's equality in her humanity
with men. In the Qur'an, in the first verse of the chapter
entitled"Women," God says, "O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your
Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it its mate and from
them both have spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful
of your duty toward Allah in Whom you claim (your rights) of one
another, and towards the wombs (that bore you). Lo! Allah has been a
Watcher over you." (4:1) Since men and women both came from the same
essence, they are equal in their humanity. Women cannot be by nature
evil (as some religious believe) or then men would be evil also.
Similarly, neither gender can be superior because it would be a
contradiction ofequality.
II. CIVIL RIGHTS
In Islam, a woman has the basic freedom of choice and expression based
on recognition of her individual personality. First,she is free to
choose her religion. The Qur'an states:"There is no compulsion in
religion. Right has been made distinct from error." (2:256) Women are
encouraged in Islam to contribute their opinions and ideas. There are
many traditions of the Prophet (pbuh) which indicate women would pose
questions directly to him and offer their opinions concerning
religion, economics and social matters. A Muslim woman chooses her
husband and keeps her name after marriage. A Muslim woman's testimony
is validin legal disputes. In fact, in areas in which women are more
familiar, their evidence is conclusive.
III. SOCIAL RIGHTS
The Prophet (pbuh) said:"Seeking knowledge is a mandate for every
Muslim (male and female)." This includes knowledge of the Qur'an and
the Hadith as well as other knowledge. Men and women both havethe
capacity for learning and understanding. Since itis also their
obligation to promote good behavior and condemn bad behaviorin all
spheres of life, Muslimwomen must acquire the appropriate education to
perform this duty in accordance with their own natural talents and
interests. While maintenance of a home, providing support to her
husband, and bearing, raising and teaching of children are among the
first and very highly regarded roles for a woman, if she has the
skillsto work outside the home for the good of the community, she may
do so as long as her family obligations are met. Islam recognizes and
fosters the natural differences between men and women despite their
equality. Some types of work are more suitable for men and other types
for women. This in no way diminishes either's effort nor its benefit.
God will reward both sexes equally for the value of their work,
thoughit may not necessarily be the same activity. Concerning
motherhood, the Prophet (pbuh) said:"Heaven lies under the feetof
mothers." This implies that the success of a society can be traced to
themothers that raised it. The first and greatest influence on a
person comes from the sense of security, affection, and training
received from the mother. Therefore, a woman havingchildren must be
educated and conscientious in order to be a skillful parent.
IV. POLITICAL RIGHTS
A right given to Muslim women by God 1400 years ago is the right to
vote. On any public matter, a woman may voice her opinion and
participate in politics. One example, narrated in the Qur'an (60:12)

The Bible on marriage of young girls with much older men
As it is Christian evangelistsand other believers in the Bible who
have been bitterly reviling the Holy Prophet Muhammad on account of
his marriage with Aisha, we put to themthe practices of the great
patriarchs and prophets that are recorded in the Bible itself in this
connection. The main accusations regarding the marriage of Aisha are
that she was too young in age while the Holy Prophet was a much older
man, being fifty years of age, and that consent to marriage was either
not obtained from her or she was not capable of giving it.
Abraham
In the book of Genesis in the Bible it is recorded about Abraham:
"Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. But she had an
Egyptian maidservant named Hagar;so she said to Abram, 'The Lord has
kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I
can build a familythrough her.' Abram agreed to what Sarai said. So
after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took
her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his
wife. He slept with Hagar, and she conceived. … So Hagar boreAbram a
son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne. Abram
was eighty-six yearsold when Hagar bore him Ishmael." (Genesis,
chapter 16, verses 1–4, and 15–16, New International Version. Bolding
is mine.)
Firstly, it is evident that as Abraham (who then had the name Abram)
was 86 years old, Hagar must havebeen some fifty years younger than
him, and probably even younger, to bear a child. Secondly, the Bible
speaks of Sarai givingher maidservant Hagar to Abraham. So Hagar's
consent was not obtained but rather she was commanded by Sarai to go
and become Abraham's wife.
David
The first book of Kings in the Bible begins as follows:
"When King David was old and well advanced in years,he could not keep
warm even when they put coversover him. So his servants said to him,
'Let us look for a young virgin to attend the king and take care of
him. She can lie beside him so that our lord the king may keep warm.'
Then they searched throughout Israel for a beautiful girl and found
Abishag, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king. The girl was very
beautiful; she took care of the king and waited on him, but the king
had no intimate relations with her." (1 Kings, chapter 1, verses 1–4,
New International Version. Bolding is mine.)
So there seems nothing wrong, according to the Bible, in procuring a
young virgin, again apparently without her consent, whose duties
include lying with the elderly king in bed. The intention was
certainly for sexual enjoyment, otherwise there was no necessity of
looking for a young, beautiful virgin.

Maulana Muhammad Ali writes in a footnote under this report:
"It should also be noted that Aisha joined the Holy Prophet's
household only one year before the battle of Uhud. According to the
common view she would be only ten years of age at this time, which is
certainlynot a suitable age for the work she did on this occasion.
This also shows that she was not so young at this time." [12]
If, as shown in the previoussection above, Aisha was nineteen at the
time of the consummation of her marriage, then she would be twenty
years old at the time of the battle of Uhud. It may be added that on
the earlier occasion of the battle of Badr when some Muslim youths
tried, out of eagerness, to go along with the Muslim army to the field
of battle, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sent them back on account of
their young age (allowing only one such youngster, Umair ibn Abi
Waqqas, to accompany his older brother the famous Companion Sa'd ibn
Abi Waqqas). It seems, therefore, highly unlikely that if Aisha was
ten years old the Holy Prophet would have allowed her to accompany the
army to thefield of battle.
We conclude from all the evidence cited above that Aisha (may Allah be
pleased with her) was nineteen years old when she joined the Holy
Prophet as his wife in the year 2 A.H., the nikah or betrothal having
taken place five years previously.

Story - :-> The Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: “Iman is to believe in Allah,His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day and the Decree; the good thereof and the bad.” [Muslim]

This is a true story that happened in Egypt (relatedby Shaykh Wahid
'Abd al-Salam Bali in his lecture ):
A young man flagged down a taxi in order to take his ill mother to the
hospital. They both got in and the driver made his way to the
hospital. However, on the way, the son asked for the taxi to bestopped
so that he could get out and quickly get some medication for his
mother. As he was away, the mother's health suddenly plummeted and
subhan'Allah, the driver noticed the signs of death on her. He
immediately went to her side and guided her through the Shahadah
(testimony of faith), in accordance to the hadith: "Whoever's last
words are la ilaha illa'Allah (there is no God but Allah), will enter
Paradise." [Abu Dawud]. The mother looked at the driver acknowledging
it, and finally she uttered the words of faith before breathing her
very last.
When the son returned, thedriver informed him of the news. The son
went into a natural hysteria whereupon the driver consoled him saying,
" Don't worry, I helped her utter the Shahadah and shesaid it in a
clear voice." The son then exclaimed, "What! Why did you do that?
Don't you know we are Christians?!"
Subhan'Allah, the wonders of the Qadr (Decree) of Allah. You just
don't know where it will take you and what your last words/deeds will
be. This was a Coptic Christian mother in the throes of death and
Allah saved her just in time. May Allah grant us all a good end,
ameen.
