These questions only have meaning if we direct them to Allah. No one
else can answer them. Consider the words of the Prophet Ya'qub
(alayhis-salam, peace be upon him) when his son Yusuf (as) was
secretly thrown into a well by his brothers. They then reported to
their father that Yusuf had been killed by a wolf.
And he turned away fromthem and said, "Oh, my sorrow over Yusuf," and
his eyes became white from grief, and he fell into silent melancholy.
They said, "By Allah , you will not cease remembering Yusuf until you
become fatally ill or become of those who perish."
He said, " I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah , and
I knowfrom Allah that which you do not know.
- Quran, Surat Yusuf, 12:84-86
"I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah…"
When you feel stuck, when you feel that no one understands your
situation, when you're in pain and you can't even imagine a solution,
only Allah has the answers. You can't see a way forward, but He can.
You don't see your own worth, but He does. You can't figure out the
road to happiness, but He can show you.
I remember a night in Arizona when I was twentysix years old. I lay on
a cot in a small, frigid cell. There was snow outside and I had only a
thin blanket. As I often did, I put on all my clothing in layers –
three pants, three shirts, an armyjacket and a pair of boots –and
still I kept waking up shivering and shaking. Yet, even more than the
physical discomfort, my spirit was tired. I had mademistakes in my
youth and had been locked up for almost five years. I had become hard
mentally and physically, but my heart was full of sorrow. I lay there
that night and I thought, "I have nothing inlife. I have accomplished
nothing. I have no university degree, no wife, no children, and not
even my freedom."
That was a bad time. But I had my faith, and I used to weep to Allah,
asking Him to have mercy on me. I think I gave up on myself for a
while, but I never gave up on Allah. It would not even have occurred
to me to do so. I did cry to Him sometimes saying, "Why, Allah? Why?
Why am I here, suffering like this?" But it wasn't despair, only
confusion. In my heartI knew that He heard me and that an answer would
come.
Shortly after that I receiveda letter from the parole board granting
me early release. I had previously been told very clearly that Iwas
not eligible. It was entirely unexpected, and if you are familiar with
the American penal system, miraculous. But for Allah, nothing is
impossible or even difficult.
Within a few months I was free. I found a job a week after my
release, and I excelled. I began writing, sitting at my desk every
night after work and disciplining myself to work on poetry, stories
and articles. Eventually I went back to school and began anew career,
got married, bought a beautiful house, and one day had a child…
What can I say except Alhamdulillah! SubhanAllah! What can I doexcept
weep in gratitude for these blessings that I did nothing to earn, but
were given to me by my Lord who loves me and cares about me, and wants
good for me. I am so deeply touched and movedby the way Allah has
answered my prayers from the depths of darkness. If I did anything to
merit His blessings, perhaps it was only that I directed my pleas to
Him. I knew that no one else could help me.
This is a very emotional post for me to write. I want every Muslim to
havethis sense of Allah as their friend, as someone who cares for them
deeply. I want to put that awareness into your heart like a gift.
When I was in that cell I used to pray the same dua'over and over,
begging Allah repeatedly. If I had made such pleas to a human being
they would have stopped hearing me long ago. When we're needy with
people it pushes them away, but when we're needy with Allah He comes
closer to us! He never tires of answering our need and forgiving us./

*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -*
-
Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Qur'an Ayath - Explanation :-
Praise be to Allaah.
There is no basis in sharee'ah for taking the crescent or star as a
symbolof the Muslims. This was not known at the time of the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be uponhim), or at the time of the
Khulafa' al-Raashidoon (thefirst four leaders of Islam after the death
of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be uponhim), or during
the time of the Umawis (Umayyad dynasty). It emerged some time after
that, and historians differ as to whenthis symbol was first adopted
and who was the first to adopt it. Some say itwas the Persians, others
say it was the Greeks, and that this symbol was somehow passed to the
Muslims. (See Al-Taraateeb al-Idaariyah by al-Kittaani, 1/320). It was
said that thereason why the Muslims adopted the crescent was that when
they conquered some western countries, the churches there had crosses
on top of them, theMuslims replaced the crosses with these crescents,
and the practice spread in this way. Whatever the case, symbols and
banners must be in accordance with the teachings of Islam, and as
there is no evidence that this symbol is prescribed by Islam, it is
better not to use it. Neither the crescent nor the star are symbols of
the Muslims, even though some Muslims may use them as symbols.
As regards what Muslims think about the moon and the stars, they
believe that they are part of the creation of Allaah, and as such can
neither benefit nor harm people, and they do not have any influence
over events on earth. Allaah has created them forthe benefit of
mankind, an example of which is seen inthe aayah or verse of the
Qur'aan (interpretation of the meaning):
"They ask you (O Muhammad) about the new moons. Say: These are signs
to mark fixed periodsof time for mankind and for the pilgrimage…"
[al-Baqarah 2:189]
[The commentator] Ibn Katheer said, explaining the phrase Say: these
are signs to mark fixed periodsof time: "From them (the new moons)
they may know the times for repaying loans, the 'iddah (waiting
period) of their women [after being divorced or widowed] and the
timing of their Hajj (pilgrimage)… Allaah has made them signs to mark
the times when Muslims should start to fast and break their fast [the
beginning and end of Ramadaan], to count the 'iddah of their women and
to know the times for repaying loans." (Tafseer Ibn Katheer).
[Another commentator] Al-Qurtubi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said
in his commentary on this aayah [verse]: "This explains the wisdom
behind the waxing and waning of the moon, whichis to avoid any
confusion inappointed dates, dealings, oaths, Hajj, 'iddah, fasting,
breaking fasts, length of pregnancy, rentals and other matters that
concern mankind. Similar to this aayah are others (interpretation of
the meanings):
'And We have appointed the night and the day as two aayaat (signs).
Then, We have made dark the sign of the night while We have made the
sign of day illuminating, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and
that you may know the number of the years and the reckoning…"
[al-Isra' 17:12]
'It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light and
measured out its (their) stages, that you might know the number of
years and the reckoning…' [Yoonus 10:5]
Counting the new moons iseasier than counting days."(See Tafseer al-Qurtubi).
With regard to the stars, the scholars of Islam say that Allaah
created these stars for three reasons: to adorn the heavens, to
driveaway the devils (shayaateen) and as signs for navigation. (Saheeh
al-Bukhaari, Kitaab Bad' al-Khalq), as Allaah says (interpretation of
the meaning):
"It is He Who has set the stars for you, so that you may guide your
course with their help through thedarkness of the land and the sea…"
[al-An'aam 6:97]
"And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have
made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the shayaateen (devils),
and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire." [al-Mulk
67:5]

Health:- BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS:
BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to havea lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficientsupply of nutrients to the brain causing
brain degeneration.
2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in
mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients
causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling
polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing
about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivationfrom sleep will
accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon
dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain
damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to adecrease in
effectiveness ofthe brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way totrain our brain, lacking in brain
stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.
10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.

Health:-Cellulitis
What is cellulitis?
Cellulitis is an infection of the skin and the tissues beneath it. It
has nothing to do with the cosmetic problem cellulite.
Top
Cellulitis causes
Cellulitis is usually caused by bacteria, most commonly of the
streptococci or staphylococci groups, which normally live on theskin's
surface. Damage to the skin (a spot, scratch or larger wound) allows
bacteria to enter the deeper tissues and establish an infection.
However, any bacteria can cause cellulitis, and the initial damage to
the skin may be so minor as to go unnoticed. Some people are more
vulnerable to cellulitis, or more likely to get complications,
especially those with diabetes , or those whose immune system isn't
working well.
Top
Cellulitis symptoms
Symptoms of cellulitis include:
*. Hot, red, swollen and painful area of the skin and deeper tissues
*. Fever
*. Shivers and chills, causedby release of toxins fromthe bacteria
There may be a well-defined line where the cellulitis stops, but
thismay spread as the infection progresses. Rarely, there's oozing of
pus and fluid at the skin puncture site, but usually the infection is
more diffuse in the tissues.
Top
Cellulitis complications
Sometimes a cellulitis infection can be trapped by certain
'compartments' in the tissues, for example, around a muscle or
ligament, or in the 'pulp' at the tip of a finger. The pressure in
that compartment increases, cutting off the blood supply (which may
cause gangrene ) and damagingnerves. This needs urgent treatment and
decompression.
Another complication is blood poisoning or sepsis , when bacteria get
into the bloodstream. This can be rapidly fatal and needs very urgent
treatment.
Top
Cellulitis treatments
Fortunately, cellulitis usually responds well to antibiotics. Ideally,
the skin and wound should beswabbed to test the kind of bacteria
causing the problem, then a penicillin type of antibiotic is
usuallyneeded (or erythromycin for those who are allergic to
penicillin ).
In some cases, wound swabs or blood tests indicate a different
bacterial cause and other types of antibiotic may be needed. Sometimes
intravenous antibiotics areneeded and this may mean a stay in
hospital. A long course of treatment (usually up to two weeks but
sometimes for several months) may be necessary. If pus collects within
the affected area, an operation may be needed to drain it.
Cellulitis can be prevented by being careful about hygiene with wounds
and breaks in the skin. If you cut or scratch yourself, or break the
skin in some way, make sure the wound is cleaned and treated with an
antiseptic, then covered with a clean dressing or plaster. If the skin
around the wound becomes red and sore, get medical advice as soon as
possible.

Qur'an Ayath - Explanation :- -
Hasbunallahu Wa Ni'mal Wakeel. Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is
the Best Disposar of affairs for us.
Who doesn't need help, care, protection and victory?
Who doesn't feel weak, over-powered by difficulties, stress and worries?
In their quest for peace andtranquility, some affluent sections of
society resort tosleeping pills, drugs and what not.
Poor curse their miseries and desire that they become rich.
They say grass appears greener on the other side!
But strange is the way of a true Muslim!
Here there is no question of the grass getting dry. Hisside of the
grass is always greener. Subhaanallah!
The roots of this amazing grass are strong and deep. They are being
continuosly fed with the waters of Imaan.
Willing submission to the Master, the very Controller of all affairs,
keeps the grass ever green.
Don't you find the presenceof amazing dew drops on this amazing grass?
The dew drops of Contentment, Hope, Trust, Willingness to submit to
the decree of Almighty Lord?
These dew drops in the life a Muslim contain miraculous elements to
keep the grass greener even in the most harshest and cruelest of
life's climates!
Read and reflect over this beautiful hadeeth:
Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: When (Prophet)
Ibraheem was thrown into the fire, he said: "Allah (Alone) is
sufficient for us, and, He is the Best Disposer of affairs." So did
Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (sal-lal-laahu- alaihi-wa-salla m), when
he was told: "A great army of the pagans had gathered against him, so
fear them". But this (warning) only increased him and the Muslims in
Faith and they said: "Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and He is
the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)". [Al-Bukhari].
When Ibraheem alaihis salam was thrown in the fire by those who
thought that they had power over all things, he made a supplication
the effect of which made the world sit up and watch in amazement!
Fire getting cool! It could not burn even a hair of Prophet Ibraheem,
Peace be upon him!
This is the effect of saying: Hasbunallahu Wa Ni'mal Wakeel!
Allah (alone) is Sufficient for us, and what an Excellent Guardian He
is! Heis the Best Disposar of affairs!
In a seemingly overpowering situation, Prophet Muhammad,
sal-lal-laahu-a laihi-wa-sallam , and his great companions declared
that Allah is Sufficient for Help and Solace and that He is the Best
Disposar of affairs for us!
When people said to them:'Behold, a host has gathered around you and
you should fear them', it only increased their faith and they
answered: 'Allah is Sufficient for us; and what an excellent
GuardianHe is!'(Surah aal Imran: 173)
During the course of his Da'wah, when he encountered rejection
fromsome people, Prophet Muhammad, sal-lal-laahu-a laihi-wasallam, was
commanded by Allah to say:
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ
عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
Yet, if they should turn away, then tell them: "Allah is sufficient
for me; there is no true god but He.In Him I have put my trust. He is
the Lord of the MightyThrone."(Surah Tawbah: 129)
When his companions got scared of the coming of theDay of Judgement,
ProphetMuhammad sal-lal-laahu-a laihi-wasallam instructed them to
recite: Hasbunallahu Wa Ni'mal Wakeel.
Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah said, "How can I feel at ease when the Angel of the
Trumpet, (Israfil) has put his lips to the Trumpet and is waiting for
the orderto blow it". He (the Prophet) perceived as if this had
shocked his Companions, so he told them to seek comfort through
reciting: 'Hasbunallah wa ni'mal-Wakeel [Allah (Alone) is Sufficient
for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)]". (For Arabic
Text, read Hadeeth No. 409 here)
In the event of fear and anxiety one should seek the help of Allah and
frequently recite this ayah of the glorious Qur'an "Hasbunallahu wa
ni'mal Wakeel" Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best
Disposer of affairs (for us)." (3:173).
If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will
surelyanswer: "Allah."/

the Best Disposar of affairs for us.

Hadees ~ Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) as a teacher.
"Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi
wasallam) happened to walk through the bazaar coming from the side of
'Aliya and people wereon both sides of him. There he found a dead lamb
with very short ears. He took hold of its ear and said: 'Who amongst
you would like to have this for a dirham?' They said: 'We would not
like to have it even for less than that as it is of no use to us.' He
said: 'Do you wish to have it (free of any cost)?' They said: 'By
Allah, even if it were alive (we would not have liked to possess it),
for there is defect in it, as its ear is very short; on top of that it
is dead now.' Thereupon, Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam)
said: 'By Allah, this world is more insignificant in the eyes of Allah
than (this dead lamb) is in your eyes.'" [Muslim]
This hadith is a wonderful reminder of the insignificance of this
world; yet how much we fret for it. Our worries for the things of this
world should be more proportionate to their importance. We ask Allah
(subhana wa ta'ala) to give us eternity, never ending life. On topof
that we want it in a place better than we can possibly imagine. In it
we expect to have youth for ever, no noise, nothing unpleasant, no
worries. In this everlasting life, in Paradise, we also expect to get
more beautiful and enjoy more luxuries with each passing day, although
after the first day we cannot imagine that anything could be better.
We expect never to be separated from our loved ones, or feel anything
except positive emotions. In return for this, whenAllah (subhana wa
ta'ala) asks us to obey Him for just 70-80 years, maybe a little more
or a little less, we think it too much? He is askingyou for a drop,
while you are asking Him for the ocean!
This hadith also illustrates what an exceptional teacher Rasul
Allah(sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) was. We know what impact visual aids
have. The more theoretical the words, the less of an impact they have,
the more the thoughts can be translated into visuals or experiential,
the more lasting its impact. Now we have educationists teaching us to
use the same techniques that were employed by Rasul Allah (sal Allahu
alaihi wasallam) as a teacher.

Hadees ~ Yellow and Gold
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "There is
ruin for the women covered with gold and coloured in yellow colour."
[Ibn Habban]
This warning is given to those women who are mad after jewelry and
fine dress and are thus negligent of their duties and responsibilitie
s as Muslimahs.
The yellow/ orange-yellow colour that comes from dying with saffron
was forbidden by the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) for men to
wear, as is gold. While these things are not forbidden for women they
are disliked in excess.
A preoccupation with one's dress, ornamentation and looks results from
clinging to the world. It shows an attachment to perishable things
that can only bring one ruin.
A meaningful sentence written ona gravestone read: "As you are, so we
were. As we are, so shall you be."

Story ~ Love Defeats Bigotry
I don't mean to portray myself as an enlightened soul. I've made
myshare of mistakes and I still struggle not to be judgmental or
reactive. But I've also had experiences that have shown me the way
forward. One was with my former sister-in-law, Crystal. I am divorced
now, but I was married for ten years. Laura (my ex-wife) and her
family were not Muslim, and her family had their reservations about
our marriage. Her mother expressed a fear that I would kidnap our
future children and take them to Egypt (even though I've never lived
in Egypt). "Like Sally Field in 'Not Without my Daughter'", she said.
One day I was at a restaurant with Laura, her mother and her sister.
When the waiter came to our table, he said to me, "As-salamu alaykum."
I did not know him, but I was wearing a kufi and had a beard. I
replied, "Wa alaykum as-salam." Crystal began laughing, and after the
dinner was over, when we were going to the car, she began saying,
"Salami, salami, baloney."
At the time I was in a mental statewhere I was fed up with bigotry. I
had experienced a lot of it, and Ihad no more patience for it. I told
Crystal that her behavior was rude and bigoted. She got extremely
angry, and after that I was a persona non-grata at my in-laws' house.
I was not invited to their home for any reason, andthere was no
communication whatsoever between me and them for more than a year.
After that my mother-in-law reached out to me tentatively, and
offereda makeshift apology, which I accepted. But Crystal remained
angry.
Later, Laura and I moved to Panama. The place where we lived was so
beautiful and peaceful, and the natives were so accepting of us, that
I found my heart healing. The in-laws still didn't quite accept me –
in fact Laura's father came to visit once and told me angrily that my
religion was ridiculous and backwards – but I found that it did not
bother me so much. WhenI returned to the USA for a visit I spoke to
Crystal. I said, "I apologize for my attitude in the past. I love you
and your family. You all mean a lot to me." I said that sincerely,
holding in my mindall the good I had experienced from Crystal over the
years, and forgiving the bad.
From that moment on, my relationship with Crystal was transformed. She
came to visit us in Panama and had a great time. After my divorce,
when I returned to California, Crystal actually began attending my
martial arts class. She became more open minded, began exploring
religious thinking outside of the narrow Christian fundamentalist box
she had always lived in. I'm not saying that any of that is because of
me. But what I can attest to is that ever since I gathered the resolve
to say to her, "I love you and I value you," she has not showed ahint
of bigotry or anger toward me, and in fact has become a pleasant
person to relate to.
I"m afraid I may be telling a string of random stories here. I don't
know if I'm communicating this thesis I have, this understanding, that
sincere love is transformational. When you can love someone without
desire, expectation, or judgment, it utterly changes your relationship
with that person, even with thosewho hate you. I believe this is
theessence of faith. It is the heart of da'wah. It is the Golden Rule.
I have given examples of one-on-one interaction, but I believe that
love and kindness can work their wonders just as well when it's one to
a thousand, or ten to a million, just as a single great ocean wave can
flood a whole city, except that love is a good flood that washes away
the fires of hatred.
Lead the Way
Do you want to see something different in the world? Show it. Do you
want to see things moving in a better direction? Then get stepping and
walk it, and I guarantee that others will follow, because they have
seen the problems as well, and they arewaiting for someone to lead the
way.
Do you want to be a better Muslim, father, mother, son, daughter,
sibling, or friend? Then be it. Now is the moment. The past is
prologue leading to this moment.
Are you waiting for someone elseto show love and kindness first? Are
you waiting for someone elseto be vulnerable or brave, to put himself
out there, to take the first step, to show the way? There is no
someone else. You are the someone else. You… are… someone.
Le'ts open ourselves to faith, love and kindness. Let's change the way
we move in the world, the way we behave with Allah, the way we treat
people, the way we interact with every person. Let us become
testaments to the power of these transformative behaviors, not through
our words but through our actions. Let's express a new sincerity from
our hearts and walk through the world like believers. Let's become
people of Allah, people of Jannah (Paradise), people of imaan (faith),
love and mercy

Health~ DID U KNOW THAT........... ...One-third pound stalk of broccoli contains more vitamin C than 204 apples.
History ~ An interesting incident in history
After the killing of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib(radhi'Allahu `anhu), there was
a crackdown on the khawarij and one man in particular named 'Imran ibn
Hattan was being chased. He had escaped from the ruler 'Abd al-Malik
ibn Marwan (some say Hajjaj ibn Yusuf) and was being sought out in the
land in order to be punished – as he was a khariji who saw the killing
of 'Ali (radhi'Allahu `anhu) to be legitimate. Now 'Imran, despite his
views, was well-versed in poetry and knowledgeable of the Arab tribes
and lineages, and one of the reasons he was able to evade capture for
so long was that whenever he approached a certain tribe, he would
immediately ascribe to a near kindred of theirs, or ascribe to a near
clan of theirs. Due to the great number of subclans and branches
within a tribe, no-one really suspected him to be lying. This gave him
protection under their refuge although in reality, they had no idea
who he was and had never seen him before. But as is the age old
custom, they honoured the near kindred and hosted him as their guest.
It's said that during his plight as he fled, he settled with Rawh ibn
Zinba' who was from one of the Yemeni tribes. When Rawh asked about
his origin, he said he was from al-Azad, i.e. a Yemeni just like Rawh,
and this allowed him tobe accepted as near blood. Now, coincidentally,
Rawh used to attend the gatherings of 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan (the
ruler!), and listen to poetry and stories etc. Whenever Rawh heard a
peculiar or rare poem, he'd ask 'Imran about it, and 'Imran would not
only know the rare piece, but he'd also continue in its stanzas and
give Rawh more of its rare insights.
Rawh once went to 'Abd al-Malik and said to him "I have a neighbour
from al-Azad who, whenever I hear something from you O leader of the
faithful, he seems to know it well and in fact increases in it!" 'Abd
al-Malik said, "Recite some of his poetry to me." Rawh said a few
lines and 'Abd al-Malik (also of quick intellect) said, "The language
is 'Adnaniyyah (of North Arabia andnot Yemen), and I think the man is
no other than 'Imran ibn Hattan!" That night, in their gatherings,
they mentioned somelines of poetry but no-one in the gathering who
knew the author/poet was:
يا ضربة من تقي ما أراد بها
إلا ليبلغ من ذي العرش رضوانا
إني لأذكره حينا فأحسبه
أوفى البرية عند الله ميزان ا
'It was but a strike from a pious one who intended only
To attain the Pleasure of the Owner of the Throne
I remember him from time to time and think him to be
The closest to Allah when (deeds are) weighed on the Scale'
'Abd al-Malik said to Rawh, "Ask your friend about these lines of
poetry." When Rawh returned home, he asked 'Imran about the poem and
he said, "These are the lines of 'Imran ibn Hattan whereinhe praises
'Abdur-Rahman ibn Muljim, the murderer of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib
(radhia'Allahu `anhu)!" He exposed himself without knowing who he was
up against! So Rawh returned to 'Abd al-Malik and told him the answer
whereupon 'Abd al-Malik said, "Your companion is in fact 'Imran ibn
Hattan. Go and bring him to me." He went and said to 'Imran, "The
leader of the faithful would like to see you." Imran said, "I too
wanted to see him butI was too shy of asking you (!). Go ahead of me
and I will follow straight afterwards." So Rawh went back to 'Abd
al-Malik and told him the news. 'Abd al-Malik then said, "He will not
come and when you return, you shall not find him." He went back and
sure enough, 'Imran had fled but he left behind him a piece of
writing/poem…
يا روح كم من أخى مثوى نزلت به
قد ظن ظنك من لخم وغسان
حتى إذا خفته فارقت منزله
من بعد ما قيل عمران بن حطان
'O Rawh! How many of a brother's home have I settled in,
Who thought the same as you from the tribes of Lakhm and Ghassan!
Until I feared for myself and departed his home,
After it was said 'Imran ibn Hattan!
Excuse your brother O ibn Zinba' for he has,
Grave matters of varying colours to attend to!
One day Yemeni when I do meet a Yemeni,
And if I meet an 'Adnani, then I am 'Adnani too!
If I were ever to seek forgivenessfor a tyrant,
Then I would've done so openly and in secret!
But I've been halted by the pure verses,
Within the recitation of Ta-Ha and'Imran!'
(i.e. he cannot accept the leadership of 'Abd al-Malik and other
'tyrants' due to verses in Surah Ta-Ha and Aal 'Imran, hencehis khuruj
against the rulers).

a crackdown on the khawarij and one man in particular named 'Imran ibn

Health - Scientists are trying to build human brain using the world’s most powerful computer.
It is intended to combine all the information so far uncovered about
its mysterious workings -- and replicate them on a screen, right down
to the level of individual cells and molecules.
If it works it could be revolutionary for understanding devastating
neurological diseasessuch as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, and even
shedding light into how we think, and make decisions.
Professor Henry Markram, based in Switzerland, is leading the project
and will be working with scientists from across Europe including the
Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute at Cambridge.
They hope to complete it within 12 years.
"The complexity of the brain, with its billions of interconnected
neurons, makes it hard for neuroscientists to truly understand how it
works. Simulating it will make it much easier -- allowing them to
manipulate and measure any aspect of the brain," he said.
Housed at a facility in Dusseldorf in Germany, the 'brain' will
feature thousands of three-dimensional images built around a
semi-circular 'cockpit' so scientists can virtually 'fly'
arounddifferent areas and watch how they communicate with each other.
It aims to integrate all the neuroscience research being carried out
all over the world -- an estimated 60,000 scientific papers every year
-- into one platform.
The project has received some funding from the EU and has been
shortlisted for a 1 billion euro EU grant, which will be decided next
month.
When complete it could be used to test new drugs, which could
dramatically shorten the time required for licencing them than human
trials, and pave the way for more intelligent robots and computers.
There are inevitably concerns about the consequences of this
'manipulation' and creating computers, which can think for themselves.
In Germany the media have dubbed the researchers 'Team Frankenstein'.
But Prof Markram said: "This will, when successful, help two billion
people annually who suffer from some type of brain impairment.
"This is one of the three grand challenges for humanity. We needto
understand earth, space and the brain. We need to understand what
makes us human," he added. Our brains have 100 billion neurons. Each
one performs billions of 'calculations' per second -- roughly similar
to a desktop computer.
So the brain computer will need to be able to do billion calculations
that will require the output of a nuclear power station.
Finding a way to power the supercomputer will be one of the
researchers' major challenges.

Islam - Believe in Allah, Because He Believes in You
Why were we created? Many Muslims will automatically respond, "To
worship Allah." That's true, but why does Allah want to be worshiped?
Furthermore, why did He create everything else – the stars, planets,
forests, seas, mountains, animals?…
Without presuming to know Allah's intentions, and returning to the
realm of the human for a moment, I will make a simple observation. As
a writer, one of the reasons I write is because the act of putting my
thoughts and feelings on paper satisfies something deep within me.
I've been writing creatively since I was a child, and to me it's not a
hobby but a calling. I'm a writer, therefore I write; and I am a
writer because I write.
The same is true for a painter or any other artist. I imagine if you
asked a painter why he paints, you might get many different answers:
*. "It makes me happy"
*. "It's my passion."
*. "To express my ideas."
*. "To make money."
*. "I don't know, I just do."
The bottom line is that it's the painter's nature to paint; it's her
calling, her function. She is a painter, therefore she paints; or she
paints, therefore she is a painter. Same difference.
Allah is Al-Khaaliq, The Creator. That is one of His names, one of His
attributes. He expresses this attribute by creating. You are a part of
that expression, and so am I. So is a blue whale, Mount Kilimanjaro,
the Grand Canyon, a dolphin, a mouse and an amoebum. Everything that
Allah created is amazing in its function and awesomely complex in its
design. Everything that He created is beautiful and purposeful.
Including you and me.
To create is an act of love. It is an act of faith. The Creator loves
youand believes in you. Believe in Him, believe in yourself, believe
inhumanity, and believe in the unique path that Allah has chosenfor
you.

'' Dua '' :: - -A woman's du'a for her future husband:
A woman's du'a for her future husband
O Allah! Please grant me the one
Who will be the garment for my soul
Who will satisfy half of my deen
And in doing so make me whole
Make him righteous and onyour path
In all he'll do and say
And sprinkle water on me at Fajr
Reminding me to pray
May he earn from halal sources
And spend within his means
May he seek Allah's guidance always
To fulfill all his dreams
May he always refer to Qur'an
and the Sunnah as his moral guide
May he thank and appreciate Allah
For the woman at his side
May he be conscious of his anger
And often fast and pray
Be charitable and sensitive
In every possible way
May he honor and protect me
And guide me in this life
And please Allah! Make me worthy
to be his loving wife
And finally, O Allah!
Make him abundant in loveand laughter
In taqwa and sincerity
In striving for the hereafter/

''Advise'':-:- The Almighty has a special Mercy upon those who share their possessions:
If we would like to achieve success & gain greater blessings in what
we have or earn, we must learn to share whatever we have with others.
The Almighty has a special Mercy upon those who share their
possessions with others. Never let the heart be so deeply attached to
wealth or other belongings because the day we are tested in those
things, we will find it very difficult to overcome such tests or even
to understand the wisdom in the Almighty's Plan. From childhood we
should train our offspring to share their toys, food and other
belongings where possible so that as they grow they learn to love this
great habit and feel very happy & blessed to share. Some take sharing
as a burden whereas others claim not to have enough to be able to
share when in fact they have more than enough. The Great Companions
shared even at times of their own desperate need for the same item -
which was sometimes food and drink. Although we may not get to that
level of selflessness, if we aim there, we will be able to get nearer.
The Almighty says•►"You will never achieve true righteousness until
you spend from that which you love most." (3:92)

HADEES:->-Enthusiasm when one first repents, followed by slackening off:
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him)
said: TheMessenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon
him) said:
"No one of you will be saved by his deeds." They said: Not even you, O
Messenger of Allaah? He said: "Not even me, unless Allaah bestows
mercy uponme. So do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and
worship Allaah in the forenoon and in the afternoon and during a part
of the night, and always adopt a moderate course whereby you will
reach your target (Paradise)." Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6098
Al-Haafiz ibn Hajar (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
"So do good deeds"
means, strive to do what is right.
"moderately" means, do not go to extremes in worship, lest you become
tired and give up, and thus fall short.
This hadeeth indicates that we are encouraged to be gentle and
moderate in worship; the words used liken worship to walking atvarious
times of day and night, with the aim of reaching one's abode, namely
Paradise.
"Always adopt a moderate course"
means adhere to the middle way. The literal translation would be,
"Moderation, moderation"; the word is repeated for emphasis. Fath
al-Baari, 11/297
Conclusion: We invite you to ponder the ahaadeeth quoted above and
think about what they mean. Remember that the one who repents should
be grateful, and the best way of showing gratitude is to persist in
repentance, which means persisting in worship./

I'm just a guy who has lived an unorthodox life. I have been alone and
chained. I have seen frightening violence. I havealso wandered the
mountain trails in Central America, camped in the snows of the
Sierras, and laid on my back in the Sahara, watching a meteor shower
decorate the sky. I have witnessed the birth ofmy child, and received
great gifts. I have been so blessed by Allah, so cared for, as He
rescues me and heals my heart, again and again. I have been loved
monumentally, and have learned to love in return.
Maybe I've learned a little something, and maybe I possess the talent
to put it into words. Am I someone special? Yes, but so are you! Some
of you amaze me. Young or old, married or single parents raising

Although many Muslims may right now be in failingmarriages and on a
fast track to divorce and its terrible consequences, there are many
ways to put their marriage back on the right track if the husband and
wife are sincere in their desire to reconcile. The following
principles can be used by Muslims whose marriages are already in
trouble or byMuslims who would like to avoid trouble in their
marriage.
Examples of negative relationship of Husband & Wife
Many Muslim husbands andwives treat each other like adversaries rather
than partners. The husband feelsthat he is the boss, and whatever he
says goes. Thewife feels that she must squeeze everything she canout
of her husband. Some wives never show their husband that they are
satisfied with anything he does or buys for them in order to trick him
into doing and buying more. They make him feel like a failure if he
does not give them the lifestyle that theirfriends and families enjoy.
Some husbands speak very harshly to their wives, humiliate them, and
even physically abuse them. Their wives have no voice or opinion in
the family.
Do not be a Tyrant, Be Partners in the Decision Making Process, Never
be Emotionally, Be Careful of Your Words, Show Affection, Be Your
Spouse's Friend, Work Together in the House, Show Appreciation,
Communication is Important, Don't bring up past problems once they
have been solved, Live Simply, Give Your Spouse Time Alone, Admit Your
Mistakes, Have Meals Together, Be Mindful of Your discussion Topics,
Physical Relationship is Important, Be available to your mate
sexually, and don't let your sexual relationship be characterized by
selfishness. The Prophet (SAWS) was reported to have said: " It is not
appropriate that you fall upon your wives like a beast but you must
send a message of love beforehand."
Marriage In The Eyes of Allah
It is very sad that this relationship which Allah (SWT) has
established for the good has been made a source of contention,
deception, trickery, tyrann y,humiliation, and abuse. Thisis not the way
marriage is supposed to be.
Allah (SWT) described marriage very differently inthe Holy Quran: '. .
. He created for you mates fromamong yourselves, that ye may dwell in
tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your
(hearts) . . . " (Holy Quran 30:21).

Health:-/- Garlic's medicinal properties are well known;so go ahead and add it to your diet:
For centuries garlic has been used as a medicinal and culinary
substance in India, China, Greece and other countries. It has beenused
as a salve for everything from headachesto colds to infections and
healing wounds. To some, however, the strong flavour of garlic is not
very appealing; in fact repelling. Therefore, although garlic is a
widely available spice, it is not very popular in some households.
Garlic does not make significant nutritional contribution to the diet
because the quantities added to recipes are small. But even these nano
amounts make a big difference to one's health.
The biological benefits and the distinct odour of garlic are
attributed to the many sulphur containing compounds; one of which is
Alliin. This compound is converted to Allicin when garlic is crushed.
Allicin is, perhaps, the principal bioactive compound present even in
processed garlic.
Limited evidence supports an association between garlic consumption
and a reduced risk of colon, prostate, oesophageal, larynx, oral,
ovary and other cancers. This is due to diallylsulde, a potent
bioactive component. Besides, the plant can also accumulate selenium,
a trace element known to possess anti-cancer properties, from the
soil.
Curtailing cardiac diseases
One inexpensive way of curtailing cardiovascular diseases is to use
generousamounts of garlic in cooking. Garlic consumption inhibits the
progression of cardiovascular diseases. It can bring about small
reductions in blood pressure. Some studies have shown it to modestly
lower cholesterol levels, which is also a protection against cardiac
diseases. Animal experiments have associated garlic ingestion with
reduction in triglyceride and LDL cholesterol, both of which
contribute to atherosclerosis and heart diseases. Garlic, like
aspirin, can reduce the tendency ofblood to coagulate and form clots.
Many human studies on garlic have shown it has the ability to dissolve
blood clots. Pharmaceutical supplements are often used by patients
with cardiac and vascular diseases.
Garlic can reduce homocysteine levels in blood. This toxic compound
damages the cells that line the blood vessels, induces blood clots,
loss of cognition and causes death of nerve cells.People with dementia
and Alzheimer's disease have elevated blood homocysteine levels.
Damage to nerve cells in Alzheimer's disease is also due to elevated
oxidative stress induced by free radicals. By scavenging freeradicals,
garlic offers protection from neuronal death, dementia and Alzheimer's
disease.
Garlic is also called 'Russianpenicillin'. Fresh — but not stored or
cooked garlic — is an antimicrobial agent against a variety of
micro-organisms, including H. Pylori, implicated in gastriccancers.
Topical applicationof garlic is effective in treating ringworm. Many
studies have shown that garlic has antifungal and antiviral effects.
Adverse effects
Are there any adverse effects associated with taking garlic? In some,
it can cause mild stomach discomfort, especially when taken on an
empty stomach. Add garlic to meals or sprinkle it on pasta, soups or
even sambhar and chutneys. Swallow a clove of crushedgarlic with
water. The common side effect is "Garlicky Breath".
Since garlic is also a blood thinner, people who take aspirin should
be careful when including garlic regularly in their diets.
Alsodiscontinue garlic at least aweek before any surgery.
How much? One clove of medium-sized garlic daily provides health
boosting effects. Numerous over-the-counter supplements are available
as are enteric-coated tablets. Those who don't like the strong flavour
can try deodorised capsules. It is indeed the cornerstone of good
health.

substance in India, China, Greece and other countries.

At some point in our lives, we are all given moments where we have to
take a stand; a mawqif. It's usually a test which is personal to each
of us. But on a larger scale, it's also an opportunity from Allah
allowing us to earn His Pleasure, attain higher ranks and pretty much
'prove' ourselves to Him.
Sometimes, we're forced tomake hard decisions. We'reforced to forsake
what we love in order to uphold a greater principle, we have to fight
against our heart and soul in order to do what is right at that moment
of time as opposed to what simply pleases us.
Sometimes, our actions directly affect others because in pleasing
Allah we end up displeasing people, but what choice does the believing
man or woman have? We don't live for the sake of our ownnafs; rather
we live for Allah and higher principles, and when it comes to these
testing moments in life, we must choose what is right, even if it
means that we will lose what is very dear to our hearts or lose our
freedoms.
These are the mawaqif in our lives, and every single person has to
face them at some point. But it's a Promise from Allah that once we
take the right stand, He will take it upon Himself to lead the way and
rectify our affairs. Evenif we cannot see the light at the end of the
tunnel, we must trust that the end result will be for the believer who
chose His Lord over himself.

Islam -Believe in Allah, Because He Believes in You
I believe in Allah because He believes in me… and He believes in you
too. Believe in His plan for you, have faith in Him, trust His
guidance to you, because He has faith in you, and trusts you.
Some people might challenge this assertion that Allah believes in us
and trusts us. To me, that's surprising. Allah created nothing in
vain. Everything He does has a purpose. His creation of humanity was
done with intent.
Why were we created? Many Muslims will automatically respond, "To
worship Allah." That's true, but why does Allah want tobe worshiped?
Furthermore, why did He create everything else – thestars, planets,
forests, seas, mountains, animals?…
Without presuming to know Allah's intentions, and returning to the
realm of the human for a moment, I will make a simple observation. As
a writer, one of the reasons Iwrite is because the act of putting my
thoughts and feelings on paper satisfies something deep within me.I've
been writing creatively since I was a child, and to me it's not a
hobby but a calling. I'm a writer, therefore I write; and I am a
writer because I write.
The same is true for a painter or any other artist. Iimagine if you
asked a painter why he paints, you might get many different answers:
*. "It makes me happy"
*. "It's my passion."
*. "To express my ideas."
*. "To make money."
*. "I don't know, I just do."
The bottom line is that it's the painter's nature to paint; it's her
calling, her function. She is a painter, therefore she paints; or
shepaints, therefore she is a painter. Same difference.
Allah is Al-Khaaliq, The Creator. That is one of His names, one of His
attributes. He expresses this attribute by creating. You are a part of
that expression, and so am I. So is a blue whale, Mount Kilimanjaro,
the Grand Canyon, a dolphin, a mouseand an amoebum. Everything that
Allah created is amazing in its function and awesomely complex in its
design. Everything that He created is beautiful and
purposeful.Including you and me.
To create is an act of love. It is an act of faith. The Creator loves
you and believes in you. Believe in Him, believe in yourself, believe
in humanity, and believe in the unique path that Allah has chosen for
you.

Story - Past Event:-/- -Live the Moment – It’s All You Have:
Try to appreciate the present moment and truly live it, rather than
using it up by feeling guilty about the past, or fretting about the
future. Regret for the past is a waste of spirit, and worrying about
the future is pointless.
Hanan Bilal, a community activist and motivator fromFlorida, asks,
"When will we stop living in the past and longing for our future? All
we really have is this moment. The question is what are we going to do
right now? Our time is now!"
The Past
That's not to say that contemplation of past and future is verboten.
The Quran tells stories of the past in order to educate us.The
Messenger of Allah (sws) told us many stories of past Prophets and the
Bani Israa'il, for the same reason. We study world history, we study
the seerah of our Prophet and the lives of the Sahabah, because it
inspires and informs.
I taught a martial arts classseveral hours ago and I'm still reviewing
it in my mind, examining what I could do better next time. That's part
of the learning process for me.
I have a sweet young daughter named Salma and I often think about my
time with her, something funny that she said, or the small gifts that
she likes to make for me. Yesterday she made me a card that says "I
love Baba." A few days ago we had a poetry reading at our local
Muslimcommunity center, and in between readings our host told jokes.
For some reasonSalma positioned herself in the front row, and every
time our host told a joke I heard Salma laughing loudly, even though
I'm sure she did not understand the jokes ("do vegetarians eat animal
crackers?"). Crazy kid, ha ha. So yeah, I think about past moments.
But I'm not stuck in the past. I think about those moments because
they educate me or make me smile, so they become a part of my present
and future.
On the other hand, I occasionally think about my former marriage, and
those are usually not good thoughts, because I tend todwell on the
mistakes I made, and I feel sadness orguilt. I've already contemplated
deeply on that period in my life, and I've learned my lessons. I don't
need to keep returning there in my mind, punishing myself. If Idid,
then I would indeed bestuck in the past, unable to move forward. That
is the kind of pointless regret that weighs people down and burdens
their spirits.
The Future
We plan for the future by having goals, getting an education, working
hard, saving money, always learning and improving ourselves. We plan
for our aakhirah by dedicating ourselves to Allah, worshiping, giving
our money to the poor and orphans, and humbling ourselves. We build
our futures step by step. But it's not productive to sit around biting
our nails andthinking, "What if I fail my exam, oh, when will I get
married, what's going to happen if I lose my job, how will I pay my
bills…" You make yourself sick andit doesn't help.
Don't worry, plan . There's ahuge difference! Then acknowledge that
you don't control the future. That's Allah's province. Trust in Him,
let him be your guide, find your security in Him.

Qur'an Ayath - Explanation :-/
Being grateful to Allah means that our hearts become filled with love
for Him; our bodies are obedient to Him; our tongues praise Him; we
receive His favors with humility; we thank Him for everything we have
received; and we use what He has given us for good. We could never
repay Allah. The least we can do is thank him.
By being grateful and separating ourselves from the consumerist
craziness, we set an example of how to live without avarice. We free
our spirits, remove a burden from our backs, andshine a light for
ourselves and others.

Story - :- Love Defeats Bigotry
Love Defeats Bigotry
I don't mean to portray myself as an enlightened soul. I've made my
share ofmistakes and I still strugglenot to be judgmental or reactive.
But I've also had experiences that have shown me the way forward. One
was with my former sister-in-law, Crystal. I am divorced now, but I
was married for ten years. Laura (my ex-wife) and her family were not
Muslim, and her family had their reservations about our marriage. Her
mother expressed a fear that I would kidnap our future children and
take them to Egypt (even though I've never lived in Egypt). "Like
Sally Field in 'Not Without my Daughter'", she said.
At the time I was in a mental state where I was fed up with bigotry. I
had experienced a lot of it, and I had no more patience for it. I told
Crystal that her behavior was rude and bigoted. She got
extremelyangry, and after that I was a persona non-grata at my
in-laws' house. I was not invited to their home for any reason, and
there was no communication whatsoever between me and them for more
than a year. After that my mother-in-law reached out to me
tentatively, and offered a makeshift apology, which I accepted. But
Crystal remained angry.
Later, Laura and I moved toPanama. The place where we lived was so
beautiful and peaceful, and the natives were so accepting of us, that
I found my hearthealing. The in-laws still didn't quite accept me – in
fact Laura's father came to visit once and told me angrily that my
religion was ridiculous and backwards – but I found that it did not
bother me so much. When I returned to the USA for a visit I spoke to
Crystal. I said, "I apologize for my attitude in the past. I love you
and your family. You all mean alot to me." I said that sincerely,
holding in my mind all the good I had experienced from Crystal over
the years, and forgiving the bad.
From that moment on, my relationship with Crystal was transformed. She
cameto visit us in Panama and had a great time. After my divorce, when
I returned toCalifornia, Crystal actually began attending my martial
arts class. She became more open minded, began exploring religious
thinking outside of the narrow Christian fundamentalist box she had
always lived in. I'm notsaying that any of that is because of me. But
what I can attest to is that ever since I gathered the resolveto say
to her, "I love you and I value you," she has not showed a hint of
bigotry or anger toward me, and in fact has becomea pleasant person to
relate to.
I"m afraid I may be telling a string of random stories here. I don't
know if I'm communicating this thesis Ihave, this understanding, that
sincere love is transformational. When you can love someone without
desire, expectation, or judgment, it utterly changes your relationship
with that person, even with those who hate you. I believe this is the
essence of faith. It is the heart of da'wah. It is the Golden Rule.
I have given examples of one-on-one interaction, but I believe that
love and kindness can work their wonders just as well when it's one to
a thousand, or ten to a million, just as a single great ocean wave can
flood a whole city, except that love is a good flood that washes away
the fires of hatred.

cameto visit us in Panama and had a great time.

"The one who remembers Allah amongst a heedless people is like a man
who protects an army group on the verge of being defeated. Were it not
for this man, they would be utterly defeated. Likewise, were it not
for the one who remembers Allah amongst a heedless people, the people
would've been destroyed." -

Qur'an Ayath - Explanation :-When you’re weary and alone, let faith carry you
There are times when we're alone, discouraged, and just plain weary.
Timeswhen it seems like there's no one left who matters.
That's when faith counts more than ever. That's when faith is tested.
Don't give up. Keep hope inyour heart. Remember thatin the darkest
cave, the deepest canyon, the most barren desert, Allah is still
there.
Let faith carry you at those times, and let Allah guide you, and you
will come through to a better place. It's a promise from Allah:
"And whoever is conscious of Allah, He will make for him a way out
(from every difficulty). And He will provide for him from (sources) he
never could imagine. And whoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will
suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Indeed Allah
has sent a measure for all things." (Quran: 65/2-3)

Story - Past Event:-WOMEN'S LIBERATION THROUGH ISLAM
Today people think that women are liberated in theWest and that the
women's liberation movement began in the 20th century. Actually, the
women's liberation movement was not begun by women but was revealed by
God to a man in the seventh century by the name of Muhammad (peace be
upon him), who is known as the last Prophet of Islam. The Qur'an and
the Traditions of the Prophet (Hadith or Sunnah) are the sources from
which every Muslim woman derives her rights and duties.
I. HUMAN RIGHTS
Islam, fourteen centuries ago, made women equally accountable to God
in glorifying and worshippingHim - setting no limits on her moral
progress. Also, Islam established a woman's equality in her humanity
with men. In the Qur'an, in the first verse of the chapter
entitled"Women," God says, "O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your
Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it its mate and from
them both have spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful
of your duty toward Allah in Whom you claim (your rights) of one
another, and towards the wombs (that bore you). Lo! Allah has been a
Watcher over you." (4:1) Since men and women both came from the same
essence, they are equal in their humanity. Women cannot be by nature
evil (as some religious believe) or then men would be evil also.
Similarly, neither gender can be superior because it would be a
contradiction ofequality.
II. CIVIL RIGHTS
In Islam, a woman has the basic freedom of choice and expression based
on recognition of her individual personality. First, she is free to
choose her religion. The Qur'an states:"There is no compulsion in
religion. Right has been made distinct from error." (2:256) Women are
encouraged in Islam to contribute their opinions and ideas. There are
many traditions of the Prophet (pbuh) which indicate women would pose
questions directly to him and offer their opinions concerning
religion, economics and social matters. A Muslim woman chooses her
husband and keeps her name after marriage. A Muslim woman's testimony
is validin legal disputes. In fact, in areas in which women are more
familiar, their evidence is conclusive.
III. SOCIAL RIGHTS
The Prophet (pbuh) said:"Seeking knowledge is a mandate for every
Muslim (male and female)." This includes knowledge of the Qur'an and
the Hadith as well as other knowledge. Men and women both havethe
capacity for learning and understanding. Since itis also their
obligation to promote good behavior and condemn bad behaviorin all
spheres of life, Muslimwomen must acquire the appropriate education to
perform this duty in accordance with their own natural talents and
interests. While maintenance of a home, providing support to her
husband, and bearing, raising and teaching of children are among the
first and very highly regarded roles for a woman, if she has the
skillsto work outside the home for the good of the community, she may
do so as long as her family obligations are met. Islam recognizes and
fosters the natural differences between men and women despite their
equality. Some types of work are more suitable for men and other types
for women. This in no way diminishes either's effort nor its benefit.
God will reward both sexes equally for the value of their work,
thoughit may not necessarily be the same activity. Concerning
motherhood, the Prophet (pbuh) said:"Heaven lies under the feetof
mothers." This implies that the success of a society can be traced to
themothers that raised it. The first and greatest influence on a
person comes from the sense of security, affection, and training
received from the mother. Therefore, a woman havingchildren must be
educated and conscientious in order to be a skillful parent./
