Question
As salamalekum The name of a person is Ateeq Mohammed khan and if he writes it in a short form Ateeq Mohd. khan . Is it wrong? Bcoz I have heard one should not use short form Mohd.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammadis His Slave and Messenger.
Apparently – and Allaah knows best – writing the name in that manner is permissible if it does not involve any bad intent, like mockery or the like.Al-Bukhaariwrote a chapter entitled: “Whoever calls on someone and omits a letter from his name”, and he mentioned in it the statement of the Prophetto‘Aa’ishah: “O 'Aa'ish, this is Jibreel )angel Gabriel( sending his greetings to you.” Shereplied: “Peace and Allaah's Mercy be upon him.” Furthermore, the Prophetcalled Anjashah, his servant boy: “O Anjash, pull the camels slowly when there are ladies on their backs.”
But if the name is used in shortened form as an offensive nickname or to say something negative about someone, then it is prohibited as Allaah says )what means(: }….and do not call each other by ]offensive[ nicknames. Wretched is the name ]i.e. mention[ of disobedience after ]one’s[ faith. And whoever does not repent — then it is those who are the wrongdoers.{ ]Quran 49:11[

Fathwa, - Her husband brought his other wife ..

Asalam alaikum shaikh iwant to know if this is correct if my husband when i travelled to hajj he brought his other wife in my house i said my house because ipay half rent and half electric bill and the things inside the house all are mine is this fair he gave me permission to go for my first hajj as he had refused to go and i went with my brother when i came back he lied to me as isaw food that were not there before he told me he was given by his friend and in real he had bought for the other wife immediately icame back he took her out and travelled to her country i know that she has right also but she should bring her to another house not mine is this fair he used my car for her and my bed also and every thing in the house when i complained he is telling me he will move out of the house and leave me is this fair

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammadis His Slave and Messenger.
If the matter is based on mere suspicions and not certain facts, then you have no right to harbor doubts against your husband. Allaah, The Exalted, says )what means(: }O you who have believed, avoid much ]negative[ assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin...{ ]Quran 49:12[ If your husband denied, then, in principle, he is to be considered truthful and you should believe him until proven otherwise. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa133309.
Accordingly, if what you are experiencing are mere illusions and obsessive whisperings, then we advise you to discard them, lest this would ruin your relationship with your husband and incur undesirable consequences. You should not allow yourself to indulge in such doubts and whisperings and you should not yield to the urge to investigate the issue any further. Instead, you should express gratitude to your Lord that He blessed you with the grace of performing Hajj that year, for such good deeds are what genuinely matter, whereas the fleeting worldly affairs should not be given such undue weight. Allaah, The Exalted, says )what means(:
· }Whatever you have will end, but what Allaah has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.{ ]Quran 16:96[
· }...Say, The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allaah. And injustice will not be done to you, ]even[ as much as a thread ]inside a date seed[."{ ]Quran 4:77[
Generally speaking, it is not the right of a husband to allow his wife to use the personal belongings of his other wife without her permission. The Prophet, said: “A Muslim's property is not lawful )for another Muslim( without the former's own free will.” ]Ahmad[
In this case, it is incumbent on your husband to turn to Allaah, The Exalted, in repentance from that sin and seek your pardon for what he did. Verily, forgiveness has great virtues. We have cited some religious texts highlighting the great virtues of forgiveness....

1- When the religion of Islam was revealed to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, it was the custom of the people of the pre-Islamic era to hate and detest women. Allaah The Exalted Says )what means(:}And when one of them is informed of ]the birth of[ a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.{]Quran 16: 58[
They disdained the infant girl and would bury her alive. Islam prohibited this and insisted that she be exalted and maintained with dignity. Allaah The Almighty Says )what means(:}And when the girl ]who was[ buried alive is asked, for what sin she was killed.{]Quran 81: 8-9[
In some Hadeeths, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:
•"Whoever maintains two daughters until they become independent will come on the Day of Resurrection along with me )close to each other( like these two )and he joined his two fingers(."]Muslim[
•"Whoever is put to trial by these daughters and he treats them kindly, these daughters will act as a shield for him from Hell."]Al-Bukhaari and Muslim[
2- When the religion of Islam was revealed to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, it had been the habit of the people of the pre-Islamic era to prevent the woman from her share of the inheritance. Islam gave her this right, whether little or large; Allaah The Exalted Says )what means(:}For men is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, and for women is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, be it little or much - an obligatory share.{]Quran 4: 7[
3- When the religion of Islam was revealed to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, it had been the habit of the people of the pre-Islamic era to inherit women against their will. When a woman's husband died, one of the heirs would come, throw a garment over her and say, "I have inherited her just as I have inherited his wealth." This would entitle him to have more control over her than herself. Islam prohibited this. Allaah The Exalted Says )what means(:}O you who have believed, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion.{]Quran 4: 9[
4- When the religion of Islam was revealed to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, it had been the habit of the people of the pre-Islamic era to make difficulties for their women in order to prevent them from receiving their rights. A man would prevent his divorcee from remarrying until she had returned everything he had spent on her. A father would prevent his daughter from marriage and likewise the brother would prevent his sister if he so willed. A man would mistreat his wife and refuse to divorce her unless she ransomed herself. Islam prevented all this and eradicated such behavior. Allaah The Exalted Says )what means(:
•}And do not make difficulties for them in order to take ]back[ part of what you gave them unless they commit a clear immorality.{]Quran 4: 19[
•}Do not prevent them from remarrying their ]former[ husbands if they agree among themselves on an acceptable basis.{]Quran 2: 232[
5- When the religion of Islam was revealed to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, the woman was suffering from her husband's oppression, bad morals and ill treatment. Islam prohibited this and commanded the husband to treat her just as he would like her to treat him. Allaah The Exalted Says )what means(:
•}And live with them in kindness.{]Quran 4: 19[
•}And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable.{]Quran 2: 228[
6- When the religion of Islam was revealed to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, the widow's ‘Iddah )post-marriage waiting period( was a complete year. Islam lessened it to just a third. Allaah The Exalted Says )what means(:}And those who are taken in death among you and leave wives behind - they, ]the wives, shall[ wait four months and ten ]days[.{]Quran 2: 234[
7- Islam instructed that women should be treated with kindness. In a Hadeeth, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:"Be kind to women."]Al-Bukhaari and Muslim[
It also forbade one to hate his believing wife. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:
•"A believing man should not hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he would like another one."]Muslim[
•"The best of you are those who are the kindest to their wives."]At-Tirmithi[
•"This life is enjoyment, and the best of its enjoyment is a righteous wife."]Muslim[
Indicating the characteristics of the righteous wife, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:"She is the wife who pleases her husband when he looks at her, obeys him when he commands her and safeguards his honor and wealth when he is not present."]Ahmad and An-Nasaa’i[
