*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Fathwa, - Can you tell me a dua to recite for restlessness?

Question:
Lately, I've been feeling unbelievable restless. At these times, I remind myself that I have tawaqul in Allah, and my duas will be answered inshaAllah. But are there any particular verses that I can recite rather than blabbering nonsense in English?
Answer:
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.
There are a number of things the scholars suggest:
(1) In times of difficulty, be especially sure to steadfastly perform your five daily prayers. Strive, with this to perform the sunna prayers--especially the confirmed sunnas--associated with them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us, in many hadiths, that ritual prayer is the very best of outward spiritual works.
(2) After each obligatory prayer, turn to Allah in supplication. Allah Most High instructs us, "Call on Me, and I shall answer." Turn to Him with absolute conviction that He will, indeed, answer your supplications--in the way that He deems best for you, and in the time that He deems is best for you.
You can make supplication with your own, heart-felt words, but also strive to include some of the supplications of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). An excellent book containing such supplications is Reflections of Pearls(White Thread Press).
(3) With this, recite the Qur'an regularly, keeping in mind the inward manners of Qur'anic recital. Imam Ghazali mentioned these in his work Ihya' `Ulum al-Din, and they are summarized in the following answer:
Proper Manners with the Qur'an
(4) When you feel down, keep repeating "Alhamdulillah" (All praise is due to Allah), bringing to mind a blessing of Allah upon you, each time.
And Allah alone gives success. May Allah grant you all good.

Fathwa, - Dealing with premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

Question:
AssalamoAlaikum,
My problem is that a couple of days before bleeding starts, I start having serious mood swings. I go into this phase of severe depression, extreme tiredness and laziness, and pick fights with everyone. It gets so bad that often I end up yelling and it causes severe dents in my relationships. It seems like no matter how much I try, I just am unable to control my anger. Please let me know if there are any duaas I can make for my temper to not rise and to prevent such situations. JazakAllah Khair.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Dear Sister,
I pray this message finds you in good health and spirits.
If you are experiencing severe depression and serious mood swings, then you should consult a physician, who may prescribe medication, or offer some suggestions for altering your behavior.
If you find that you only experience these symptoms right before menstruation, after which they disappear, then there are several approaches you can take. Keep in mind that each woman's PMS is different. Therefore, what works for some women may not work for everyone.
1. First, dua is a very powerful weapon. There are several duas you can make for peace of mind and healing.

Fathwa, - Periods and sexual intercourse

Question:
I know that intercourse during period (menstruation) is not permitted. Could you please describe if it's committed what are the rulings of Shariah.
Answer:
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
Imam Nawawi stated that,
The Muslims have complete scholarly consensus (ijma`) that it is unlawful to have intercourse during menstruation, because of the Quranic verse [ They question you concerning menstruation. Say: It is harmful, so let women alone at such times and go not in unto them till they are cleansed. (Quran, 2.222)] and the Prophetic hadiths. [al-Majmu`]
The hadiths about this include what Anas (Allah be pleased with him) related from the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) that he said, Do anything, except intercourse. [Muslim]
And Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) said, The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to order me to wear anizar[f: covering between navel and knee], and would approach me while I was menstruating. [Bukhari and Muslim]
Ibn Abbas said that a man who has intercourse with his wife when she is menstruating should give a little in charity.
This is why the fuqaha have explained that:
1. It is permitted for both the husband and wife to derive sexual pleasure from each other during menstruation.
2. Intercourse is impermissible.
3. Direct contact between the womans navel and knees is impermissible.
4. Indirect contact, such as stimulation through a barrier (such as clothing) is permissible.
5. Direct contact above the navel and below the knees is permissible.
6. It is permitted for the wife to masturbate the husband, as well.
It is stated in theFatawa al-Hindiyya:
It is permitted to kiss ones menstruating wife, to sleep with her, and to enjoy her entire body, except for that which is between navel and knee according to Abu Hanifa and Abu Yusuf, as mentioned inal-Siraj al-Wahhaj. [al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya, 1.39, Bulaq ed.]
Imam Tumurtashi said in hisTanwir al-Absar,
And [menstruation makes it impermissible to] approach that which is under the lower garment.
Imam Haskafi explain this in his commentary,Durr al-Mukhtar,
That is, between navel and knee, even without desire. Everything else is permitted.
Imam Ibn Abidin said in his supercommentary,Radd al-Muhtar(Hashiyat Ibn Abidin),
Therefore, it is permitted to enjoy the navel and everything above it, and the knees and everything under it, even without a barrier. It is also permitted to enjoy that which is between the navel and knees with a barrier [f: such as clothing], without actual intercourse, even if blood spreads all over. [Ibn Abidin on Haskafi on Tumurtashi,Radd al-Muthar `ala al-Durr al-Muhtar Sharh Tanwir al-Absar, 1.194, Bulaq ed.]
And Allah alone gives success.
