Allah Ta'ala said,
"… And do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our
remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in]
neglect." [al-Kahf: 28]
As for good character, then 'Alqamah ibn Qays (rahimahullah) summed it
up in his final advice to his son as he was on his deathbed:
"O my son, if you ever feel the need to befriend and accompany men,
then accompany the one who protects you when you help him, adorns you
if you walk with him, and supplies you when your provisions run out.
Accompany the one who when you stretch forth your hands in goodness ,
he stretches his hand too, ifhe sees merit from you, he remembers it,
and if he sees bad from you, he remedies it. Accompany the one who
gives you when you ask , who steps up when you are silent, and who
consoles you when calamity overtakes you. Accompany the one who
believes you when you speak , entrusts you when you engage in work ,
and if you fall out, he prefers you to the fallout."

*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -*

Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

‘Alqamah ibn Qays (rahimahullah) summed it up in his final advice to his son
Allah Prepared the Earth for Us
"As the pregnant mother excitedly prepares the cradle for the arrival
of her new baby, Allah also prepared the earth for us before He sent
Adam and Hawaa. He set all in place for us: the earth as a soft bed,
the heavens as a canopy, the rain, the fruits, the stars, even
companionsand love. He (SWT) gave us everything we need to live and
fulfill our needs. It's truly amazing."

The Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, “A person is upon the Deen of his friend, so let each of you look to whom you befriend.” [Abu Dawud, 4833]
As-salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullah A chapter I took from one of my
books… very insightful. "… Know that not everyone is suited to be your
friend. The Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "A person is
upon the Deen of his friend, so let each of you look to whom you
befriend." [Abu Dawud, 4833]

"Be people who are constantly reviving their hearts, wearing shabby garments, lights that illuminate the darkness, unknown to those on earthyet known to the inhabitants of the heavens." —’Abdullah ibn Mas‘ūd (a Sahabi)[d. 32H]
"Be people who are constantly reviving their hearts, wearing shabby

—'Abdullah ibn Mas'ūd (a Sahabi)[d. 32H]
We must constantly revive our hearts, because we go through periods
when we are weak, lazy in our salat, feeling disconnected from
Allah... But the heart is fertile soil. It can easily be revived with
the aid of the Quran, salat, dua' and dhikr.
You don't literally have to wear shabby garments, butibn Masud (ra) is
saying that the best deeds are those done quietly, privately, for the
sake of Allah alone. You serve as a light in this dunya, making lives
better, helping peoplein quiet ways. You may notreceive popular
acclaim, or be honored by people, but you will be honored by Allah the
Most High. In the end, that is all that matters.
