An artificial heart pump driven by cutting edge technology is proving
handy in saving the lives ofpatients in near-death situations
following a massive heart attack.
The Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) equipment can put a
patient on artificial support for as long as a month by sustaining
oxygen supply and blood circulation to the heart andother vital organs
such as brain, kidney and liver even when the patient's normal heart
is not beating. It gives much needed time for the vital organs to
recover and function normally before a primary angioplasty can bedone
on patients who havehad a debilitating heart attack.
The heart failure team at Fortis Malar Hospital told a press
conference on Tuesday that they had used ECMO to save several lives of
heart attack victimswho had suffered extensive heart muscle damage and
arterial blocksin the past few months. The ECMO machine prevented
death and provided more time to evaluate options such as angioplasty,
heart transplant or implantable artificial heart.
Doctors cited a recent case in which a 56-year-old patient was brought
in a state of circulatory collapseafter a massive heart attack. Until
recently, doctors wouldn't have given much of a chance for the patient
who had suffered extensive heart muscle damage, had low blood pressure
and diabetes-triggered elevated blood glucose levels. However, the
ECMO unit was mobilised within half an hour and the patient's blood
circulation to the vital organs restoredeven though the normal heart
was not beating. Subsequently, cardiologistsRavi Kumar and Madan Mohan
performed an angioplasty in the Cathlab to further improve blood
circulation.
Dr. K. R. Balakrishnan, chief cardiac surgeon, said massive heart
attack usually had a high mortality risk even if a patient reaches a
tertiary care centre alive. Besides, cardiogenic shock can occurany
time after a heart attack and carries a mortality rate of 90 per cent.
Even emergency angioplasty may not work in cardiogenic shock as in
most cases the heart muscle does not recover fast enough to pump
oxygen and blood to the vital organs.
Dr. K.G. Suresh Rao, chief of critical care, said the ECMO technology
could also be used in patients with badlydamaged lungs as in acute
H1N1 (swine flu) infections.
Though an ECMO intervention could cost about Rs.1.50 lakh, doctors
believe that its life-saving benefit far outweighs the cost.
The next step could be equipping select ambulances with the ECMO
machine so that more lives would not be lost to the delays in reaching
a heart attack patient to hospital, doctors said.

Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Health:- Artificial heart pump helps save lives of heart attack patients
A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam
ISLAMIC ARTICLE -:- Felicity
Felicity.
When your heart feels so free it soars in the sky.
So light and weightless, as if carried by Angels of Mercy and Glad-tidings.
Mind of purity and clarity.
Vision that's clear of clouds.
No mist. No chains.
No burdens or pains.
Hands are freed up, speech flows again.
You can breathe.
Time is blessed, lands are blessed.
Days are a beauty and nights pass in serenity.
God's creatures smile as if to acknowledge the bliss.
Even the trees rustle; I can hear their tasbih.
Gratitude only increases the goodness, as if the Promise is more than just that.
It's a certainty.
It's freedom. Freedom fromthe world.
But the world's inexperienced want to define it.
They are baffled. The more the tests, the happier we become.
Freedom.
Allah gives it to some so they enter the Paradise of this world before the Next.
And some are deprived so they remain imprisoned;
Either to be released in the Hereafter and or to be sentenced.
He is the King of Kings; A Most Generous King.
And it's a felicity.
A serenity.
I found it in the places of prayer.
It's there again whenever I open the Book.
Like a magnificent robe, it gently wraps and protects.
Freedom and felicity,
They take root in the heart when the heart is watered with faith and
sustained with Islam.

ISLAMIC ARTICLE -:- Getting Through Mini-Depressions
Many people periodically go through short depressions when they
feelnegative about everything in their lives. There are ways we can
minimize these depressions, and steps we can take to ensure we don't
sabotage our relationships when we're feeling blue.
In my case, I go through regular periods of mini-depression every few
months. My mood will be utterly black, my mind filled with
self-critical thoughts: "I'm a failure, I'ma hypocrite, I have no real
friends, I've wasted my life…" But even in the depths of depression I
know that the mood will not last. One good night's sleep will restore
me to normal, Insha'Allah. So I keep my mouth shut and do not express
those negative thoughts to family or friends, because I know I will
regret it later if I do….
Does this happen to you? Ifso, then pay attention to your own
emotional cycles so that you know what to expect. Control yourself
when you're feeling down. Speak only what is good, or stay silent.
Let's be very clear: You should not ignore genuine problems in your
life. If something is missing or making you unhappy, workon it
Insha'Allah. I'm also not saying that you should remain silent about
real issues that you face. If you've got problems in your family, it's
important to communicate to resolve them. It's also good to talk to a
therapist or counselor.
But when you are depressed, your viewpoint becomes skewed, and it's
not necessarily representative of reality. Sowhen you have those dark
thoughts that say, "My life is worthless and I hate everyone," don't
express those to anyone except your therapist or counselor.Don't call
up your best friend and say, "You're not a true friend, you don't care
about me." That's not productive and will only destroy your
relationship.
When you're depressed, hold on to your lifeline with God, eat well and
get plenty of rest, and be patient until the mood passes Insha'Allah.
Try to fill your life with good things: people you care about, work
that matters, hobbies you love, good books to read, exercise youenjoy…
these good things provide a safety net when you're feeling blue.
For example, photographerand human rights activist Asmaa-Deanna Dee
says, "When I am feeling low and downtrodden I just find a quiet place
and sit alone with my favorite book (the Quran)! When I turn each of
its miraculous pages my heart begins to feel lighter and the world
around me brighter! The love, warmth and security of each word sets in
and it is in these very moments that I know for sure in my heart how
much Allah really loves me! Alhamdulillah! Subhanallah! Allahu Akbar!"
Also remind yourself of the good things in your life, and try to be
grateful for them. Do not look to those who have more than you, but
those who have less. Think of the times in your life when God has
helped you, guided you, and savedyou. He will do so again.
By the way, I don't get those mini-depressions as often anymore. I'm
not sure why, but it could be that I exercise every day now. Also, I
am active in the Muslim community, I write passionately about subjects
that are importantto me, and I have a daughter who I love… my life is
full of good things Alhamdulillah.
May your life also be full of good things.

HADEES:->-Give Me Something Better
The Messenger of Allah (sws) said: "There is no calamity that befalls
one ofthe Muslims and he responds 'Inna Lillahi wa inna ilahi
raaji'oun, Allahumma ujurni fi museebati w'ukhluf li khayran minha,'
(Truly to Allah we belong & truly to Him we shall return, O Allah
reward me in this calamity & compensate mewith something better than
it), but Allah will compensate him with something better than it."
(Muslim 918)
In other words, if you've lost something precious, orif disaster has
hit you, and you respond with faith in Allah, asking Him to
replaceyour loss with something better, then Allah will surely respond
and give you something better.
SubhanAllah! What more could we ask? Allah is the only one who does
this. If your house is destroyed, the insurance company willtry to
find a way to deny your claim, and if they finally pay then they will
pay less than it's worth.
The crucial thing is that thedua' must be said in that moment of pain
and loss, when you are really hurting. You can't respond at first by
saying, "Why did you do this to me Allah, I didn't deserve this!" then
months later when you've recovered somewhat, thinkyou can say this
dua' and itwill work for you.
The whole point is that in those moments when life is most difficult
and you are totally thrown for a loop, you respond by turning to
Allah. That's the test. Those moments are the proving ground of
yoursoul. If you can face Allah inthose moments of agony and say – I
trust You, all things return to You, I know you will give me something
better – then indeed Allah will give you more than you can imagine.
May Allah give us the strength to remember Him and turn to Him
instinctively in times of calamity and times of joy as well.

News:- -Russian Naval 'Spy' Released by Ukraine 17 May 2012 The Moscow Times
A court in Sevastopol, Ukraine has acquitted a Russian defense
contractor on espionage charges afterhe spent two-and-a-half years in
prison for buying apiece of outdated Soviet equipment from Ukrainian
partners.
The court ruling was announced late Thursday, according to the defense team.
Artur Stepanyants, 53, whose saga was reported in The Moscow Times in
March of last year, was arrested by Ukrainian law enforcement officers
in 2010 while purchasing Soviet-made naval equipment he had been
planning to use for spare parts for the ships of the Russian naval
fleet in Sevastopol.
According to documents released during the trial, the seller of the
equipmentwas an informant for the local security services.
Stepanyants — who was arrested during the tenure of Ukrainian
President Viktor Yushchenko, who had a strained relationship with
Russia — was accusedof spying against Ukraine on the grounds that the
equipment he bought contained secret components.
His defense team and independent experts said the equipment was
produced during the Sovietperiod and was of no interest to Russia.
Stepanyants told The Moscow Times by phone from his home in St.
Petersburg that Ukrainian prosecutors have 15 days to appeal the
verdict. The Sevastopol prosecutor's office told the Unian Ukraina
news agency that it would appeal the verdict.

Moose Family Refuses to Leave City Park
17 May 2012
The Moscow Times
@
A family of moose has taken up residence in a citypark, where police
have increased patrols to keep residents and the animals safe.
The three animals, a male, a female, and a calf, spreadout in front of
a residential building on Shumkina Ulitsa in the Sokolniki
neighborhood Wednesday. One moose even ventured to take up a spot in
front of the neighborhood's police station.
Police said they started receiving calls about the animals Wednesday
morning, prompting them to increase patrols in the area.
Law enforcement officers attempted to drive the animals back into the
park Wednesday afternoon. A passerby said police called nearby street
sweepers to"get their guys," and together they chased the moose away
with brooms, though the animals later returned, the BBC Russian
Service reported.
Police called in specialists from Moose Island, a nearby state park
inhabited by moose from where the animals apparently came. Moose
Island stretches beyond the MKAD and the city limits, and is
physically contiguous with the Sokolniki city park. Only about a third
of the Moose Island park is within Moscow city limits.
No new calls came in to police about the animals overnight Thursday,
and a police representative told RIA-Novosti that they may have gone
back into the forest.

HADEES:->-Valleys Full of Gold
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "If the son
of Adam were given a valley full of gold, he would love to have a
second one; and if he were given the second one, he would love to
havea third, for nothing fills the belly of Adam's son except dust.
And Allah forgives he who repents to Him." [Bukhari]
Until our remains are mixed with dust (i.e. we die) we continue to
compete with each other inamassing the pleasures of life. Our
condition is that when one desire is satisfied, we immediately desire
to have another desire satisfied. We are always busy in eating,
drinking and having a good time, greedy with thedesire to acquire more
and more of everything.
Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) cautions us saying: "You are obsessed by
greed for more and more until you go down to your graves. Nay, in time
you will come to understand! And once again: Nay, in time you willcome
to understand! Nay, if you could but understand (it) with an
understanding (born) of certainty, you would indeed, most surely,
beholdthe blazing fire (of hell)! In the end you will indeed, most
surely, behold it with the eye of certainty: and onthat Day you will
most surely be called to account for (what you did with) theboon of
life!" [The Quran: Surah Takathur]
The pleasures and comfortsof the world are nothing more than a test
for those who are granted them. Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) wishes to
judge how desirous a person is of Jannah by seeing what price they are
willing to pay for it: Do they spend their money in Allah's causes or
on their own enjoyment?
He (subhana wa ta'ala) advises those of us whom He has tested in ways
other than by the bestowing of wealth: "Never stretch your eyes
towards the things We have given to some groupsof them to enjoy, so
that We put them to test thereby, it being merely glamour of the
worldly life. And the bounty of your Lord is much better and more
lasting." [Surah Taha: Ayat 131]

And the bounty of your Lord is much better and more
lasting." [Surah Taha: Ayat 131]

impressed with its high vaulted arches and subtle curves that became
known as "Viceroy Church. Later, when the Viceroy escaped a near-fatal
accident in 1929 when an attempt was made to blow up the train, which
presented the picture in the east end and a silver cross to the church

The linear plain exterior ofthe church are in contrast with the high

HADEES:->-
"This world is like an overflowing sea, and people are overturned in
its waves. Whoever is given these 3 things from the world has indeed
been given the world in its entirety: Safety, Provisions and Health.
No-one is deceived by it except the foolish and no-one relies upon it
except him who is deprived. Whoever wishes to be free, let him avoid
desires even if they are sweet. Know that not everysweet thing is of
benefit but rather every benefit is sweet. Every desire is
blameworthy, except that which brings profit, and the greatest of
profits is Paradise and having Allah suffice you of the people.
The one reason which leads the smart one to place this world in its
proper place, abandon relying upon it and seekingthat which has been
decreed for him of eternal life and everlasting blessing, is
abandoning long hopes and remembering that death is something which
can comeat any given moment. This is because long hopes haveforever
severed the necks of men just like the mirage… it disappoints whoever
places his hope init, and it deceives whoever sees it."

Story - Past Event:- Points on the Sunnah of Sleeping
Here are some brief points on authentic sunnah actions before and
after sleeping, known as Sunan an-Nawm (sleep)
1. Sleeping on Wudoo'
The Prophet (pbuh) said to al-Baraa` bin 'Aazib (r.a):
If you go to your bed, then do your wudoo` (ablution) as you
would do it for prayer, then lie on your right
2. Reciting Surat al-Ikhlas, an-Nas, and an-Naas BeforeSleeping
'Aishah (r.a.) narrated that the Messenger (pbuh) used to recite
"Qulhuwallahu ahad", "Qul a'oothu birrabilfalaq" and "Qul a'oothu
birrabinnaas" every night when he went to sleep, then wiped his face
and whatever he was able from his body, beginning with his head and
face, and what faces him from his body, three times". [al-Bukhaari:
5017]
3. Doing Takbeer and Tasbeeh When Going to Sleep
'Ali (r.a) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said when
Faatimah asked him for a servant, "Shall I not lead you to that which
is better for you than a servant? If you go to your mattresses, or
rest to sleep, then say Allahu Akbar thirty-four times, and say subhaan
Allah thirty-three times, and say alhamdulilah thirty-three times, for
they are better for you than having a servant"
4. Making Du'a When Awoken from Sleep
'Ubaadah bin as-Saamit (r.a.) narrates that the Prophet (pbuh)
said:"Anyone awoken in the night and says: Laa ilaha illa Allah,
wahdatu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul hamd, wa huwa 'ala kulli
shay`in qadeer, alhamdulilah was-subhaan Allah, wallahu akbar, wa laa
hawla wa laa quwata illa billah, then said, Allahumma aghfirli or
invoked Allah, he will be answered, and if he does ablution and prays,
his prayer will be accepted" [al-Bukhaari: 1154]
5. Du'a Once Awake
Alhamdulilah alathee ahyaanaa ba'da maa amatana, wa ilayhin-nushoor
(Praise be to Allah Who granted us life after death, and to Him we
will be ressurected) [al-Bukhaari: 6312, narrated by Huthayfa
al-Yamaan (r.a.)]
Some Closing Words...
Muslims try their best to follow the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in all
aspects of life. Aspects of life such as walking, talking, eating,
washing, smiling, handshaking, travelling, and even sleeping. I think
it is safe tosay that Muhammad (pbuh) is the most closely followed man
in history, there is no other person like him in history, and there
never will be. He is our Prophet & Messenger and may Allah make his
position even more greaterthan it already is, ameen. May Allah grant
us love for Him and His Messenger (pbuh), Ameen.

Story - - Praising Allah: the Power of “SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi”
There are many hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
about the power of this phrase, " SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi " , which
means,"Glory to Allah and praise Him."
1. Whoever says "SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi" a hundred times during the
day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the
sea. [Sahih al-Bukhari;#7:168, Sahih Muslim;#4:2071]
2. Abu Dharr reported that the Prophet (sws) said, "Shall I tell you
the words that Allah loves the most?" I said: "Yes, tell me, O
Messenger of Allah." He said: "The words dearest toAllah are:
subhanAllah wa bihamdihi.
3. A palm tree is planted for the reciter [of the above] in Paradise.
[at-Tirmidhi; 5:511, al-Hakim]
4. The Prophet Muhammad(sws) said: "Two words (subhanAllah wa
bihamdihi) are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, and
are loved by the Most Merciful One."
Allah is so forgiving and gives us countless avenues to earn our
forgiveness. Today, let's have this phrase – subhanAllah wa bihamdihi
– on our tongues, and let's earn our forgiveness, and have entire
groves of palm trees planted for us in Jannah, Insha'Allah.
Praise going up, blessings coming down
Of course there are many types of dhikr . Dhikr means praising Allah,
remembering Allah. SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi is a good one, but even
something as simple as saying, "Thank you, Allah" when you finish a
meal is atype of dhikr.
When we have dhikr always on our tongues, we have this constant
connection with God, even as we go about our daily routines. When
things are going well, or when things are hard, we have this lifeline
to Allah, this constant stream of praise going up, and blessings
coming down. Our spirits are lighter, our hearts happier. We are
grateful for everything we have, because we remember thatevery single
little blessing – good health, the comfortable beds we sleep in, the
orange juice we hadfor breakfast, even our beating hearts and the
breath in our lungs – comes from Allah.
Dhikr is a guide to excellent character, and a light that keeps us on
the path to Paradise.
We covet what we think about
Here's another important point. I am the editor of IslamicAnswers.com
, whichis a common-sense advice website for marriage and family
issues. One type of common question I get is from a young person who
is madly in love with someone who is unavailable. Maybe the
unavailable person is already married, or is not interested, or the
parents do not approve, but it's clear that the match is impossible.
One thing I tell such a young person is, stop thinking about the
object of your desire. When the thoughts come, push them away.
Absolutely do not spend your time gazing at photographs of him/her,
reading old emails, dwelling on what-ifs, and fantasizing, because
that will only reinforce your obsession, and keep the unavailable
person in your mind.
What we think about, we come to desire.
With dhikr, we are using this principle for good. By constantly
praising Allah, we keep Him in our minds and hearts. The more we do
so, the more we come to desire His love, His forgiveness, and His
presence. The more we think about Allah, the morewe want to please
Him. It becomes a beautiful cycle of remembrance and blessings,
reinforcing each other.
That's why Allah described the believers as,
"Who remember Allaah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their
sides." [3:191]
"…and the men who remember Allaah often and the women who do so – for
them Allaah has prepared forgiveness anda great reward." [33:35]
"O you who have believed, remember Allaah with much remembrance. And
exalt Him morning and afternoon." [33:41-42]
The living and the dead
There is a very powerful hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in which he said,
"The example of the one who remembers his Lord (God) in comparison
withthe one who does not remember his Lord is thatof the living and
the dead." [Sahih al-Bukhari; 11:208, Muslim; 1:539]
I could write an entire essay about that one hadith, but I'll just say
that the essence of life is our need for Allah. Without Him, our
hearts would not beat, the rain would not fall, there would be no food
on our tables, and no joy in our hearts. When we remember Allah we
prove that we are spiritually alive./

The following passage is from the introduction of Imām al-Nawawī to
his juristic masterpiece, al-Majmū':
It is authentically related from al-Shāfi'ī, mayAllāh Most High have
mercy on him, that he said, "I wish that the creation could have
learned this knowledge without a single word of it being attributed to
me."
And he, may Allāhhave mercy on him, said, "I have never disputed
anyone in order to overcome him, and whenever I dispute anyone, I love
that the truth should become manifest at his hands."

Allahu's Anger
Qur'an Ayath - Explanation :- -A Close Friend of a Master of Imitation Swimming in the Seas ofIndonesia: The Jawfish
Many living things can conceal themselves by taking the color of its
surroundings by means of its camouflage abilities. However, to
impersonate a different species by changing color and shape and to
perfectly imitate them is a new type of behavior, discovered by
scientists only recently. As it is known, the octopus has tens of
thousands of sacs called "chromatophores" on its body. The ctopus can
shrink and loosen these sacs to look like any background color or
image. However, the mimic octopus also changes its appearance to
imitate other animals. It can color itself with the colors of a
lionfish, then it bravely swims away after enlarging its eight arms
around its body to resemble the poisonous thorns of the lion fish. Or
itcan place its head and seven arms like triangle shape of a
tortonese's stingray and moves along the sea surface by dragging its
eighth arm like its tail. Or it jumps intoa sand hill to look like a
poisonous sea anemone and holds its arms in a zigzag mode. Not having
ahard interior and outer skeleton gives this being abody structure
ideal for imitation. This behavior displayed by the octopus is of
course very interesting and a result of our Lord's control over living
beings. However, what is more interesting isthe existence of a fish,
which takes advantage of an octopus that runs awayfrom its hunters by
imitating the fish. This fish, called the jawfish, swims around the
octopus and tries to take advantage of its strategy of protection.
It is of course very interesting that an octopus with no wisdom and
consciousness imitates a fish to defend itself, but what is more
interesting is the existenceof a fish, which knows andtakes advantage
of this characteristic of the octopus. Our Lord reminds us once more
the perfect creation of His Self with these examples, which require
wisdom. In one verse it is revealed as such:
" Allah is the Creator of everything and He is Guardian over
everything. ." (Surat az-Zumar, 62)/

Health:- Tips To Help You Control Your blood pressure
1. Make sure your blood pressure is under 140/90 mm Hg. If your
systolic pressure (the top number) is over 140, ask your doctor what
you can do to lower it.
...
2. Take your high blood pressure medicine, if prescribed, every day.
If you have questions, talk to your doctor.
3. Aim for a healthy weight. If you are overweight or obese, carrying
this extra weight increases your risk of high blood pressure. One way
todetermine if you need to lose weight is to find out your body mass
index or BMI. If your BMI is above the healthy range (i.e., 25 or
greater), or if your waist measurement is greater than 35 inches
(women) or 40 inches (men) you probably have excess abdominal weight
and youmay benefit from weight loss especially if you have other risk
factors. Talk to your doctor to see if you are at increased risk for
high blood pressure and need to
lose weight.
4. Increase your physical activity. Do at least 30 minutes of moderate
activity, such as walking, most days of the week. You can do 30
minutes in three 10-minute segments.
5. Choose foods low in salt and sodium. Most Americans should
consumeno more than 2.4 grams (2,400 milligrams) of sodium a day. That
equals 6 grams, about
one teaspoon of table salt a day. For someone with high blood
pressure, the doctor may advise less.
6. Read nutrition labels. Almost all packaged foods contain sodium.
Every time you prepare or eat a packaged food, know how much sodium is
in oneserving.
7. Keep a sodium diary. Youmay be surprised at how much sodium you
consumeeach day and the diary will help you decide which foods to
decrease or eliminate.
8. Use spices and herbs instead of salt to season the food you prepare at home.
9. Eat more fruits, vegetables, grains, and low-fat dairy foods.
10. If you consume alcohol at all, consume moderate amounts. For men,
this is less than two 12 oz servings of beer, or two 5 oz glasses of
wine, or two 1 1/2 oz
servings of"hard"alcohol a day. Women or lighter weight people should
havenot more than a single serving of any one of thesebeverages in a
given day/

Health:- Third of malaria drugs 'are fake
India launches new malaria drug
A third of malaria drugs used around the world tostem the spread of
the disease are counterfeit, data suggests.
Researchers who looked at 1,500 samples of seven malaria drugs from
seven countries in South East Asiasay poor-quality and fake tablets
are causing drug resistance and treatment failure.
Data from 21 countries in sub-Saharan Africa including over 2,500 drug
samples showed similar results.
Experts say The Lancet Infectious Diseases research is a "wake-up call".
The US researchers from the Fogarty International Center at the
National Institutes of Health who carried out the work believe the
problem may even be much greater thandata suggests.
"Most cases are probably unreported, reported to the wrong agencies,
or kept confidential by pharmaceutical companies," say the
researchers.
No large studies of drug quality have been carried out in China or
India - countries that house a third of the world's population and are
a"probable" source of many counterfeit drugs as well asgenuine
antimalarial medicines, they say.
Lead researcher Gaurvika Nayyar stressed that 3.3 billion people were
at risk of malaria, which is classified as endemic in 106 countries.
"Between 655,000 and 1.2 million people die every year from Plasmodium
falciparum infection," he said.
"Much of this morbidity and mortality could be avoided if drugs
available to patients were efficacious, high quality, and used
correctly."
In parts of the world wheremalaria is prevalent, antimalarial drugs
are widely distributed and self-prescribed, both correctly and
incorrectly, say the researchers.
The study found there are insufficient facilities to monitor the
quality of antimalarial drugs and poor consumer and health-worker
knowledge about the therapies.
And there is a lack of regulatory oversight of manufacturing and
little punitive action for counterfeiters.
Despite this, malaria mortality rates have fallen by more than 25%
globallysince 2000, and by 33% in the WHO African Region.
But the World Health Organization says maintaining current rates of
progress will not be enough to meet global targets for malaria
control.
It is calling for renewed investment in diagnostic testing, treatment,
and surveillance for malaria/

The 'Five Pillars' of Islam are the foundation of Muslim life:
*. Faith or belief in the Oneness of God and the finality of the

*. Establishment of the daily prayers;
*. Concern for and almsgiving to the needy;
*. Self-purification through fasting; and
*. The pilgrimage to Makkah for those who are able.
Iman or Faith
"There is none worthy of worship except God and Muhammad is the

''Advise'':-:- Believe in Allah, Because He Believes inYou
I believe in Allah because He believes in me… and He believes in you
too. Believein His plan for you, have faith in Him, trust His guidance
to you, because He has faith in you, and trusts you.
Some people might challenge this assertion that Allah believes in us
and trusts us. To me, that's surprising. Allah created nothing in
vain. Everything He does has a purpose. His creation of humanity was
done with intent.
Why were we created? Many Muslims will automatically respond, "To
worship Allah." That's true, but why does Allah want to be worshiped?
Furthermore, why did He create everything else – the stars, planets,
forests, seas, mountains, animals?…
Without presuming to know Allah's intentions, and returning to the
realm of the human for a moment, I will make a simple observation. As
a writer, one of the reasons I write is because the act of putting my
thoughts and feelings on paper satisfies something deep within me.I've
been writing creativelysince I was a child, and to me it's not a hobby
but a calling. I'm a writer, therefore I write; and I am a writer
because I write.
The same is true for a painter or any other artist. I imagine if you
asked a painter why he paints, you might get many different answers:
*. "It makes me happy"
*. "It's my passion."
*. "To express my ideas."
*. "To make money."
*. "I don't know, I just do."
The bottom line is that it's the painter's nature to paint; it's her
calling, her
nextfunction. She is a painter, therefore she paints; or shepaints,
therefore she is a painter. Same difference.
Allah is Al-Khaaliq, The Creator. That is one of His names, one of His
attributes. He expresses this attribute by creating. You are a part of
that expression, and so am I. So is a blue whale, Mount Kilimanjaro,
the Grand Canyon, a dolphin, a mouseand an amoebum. Everything that
Allah created is amazing in its function and awesomely complex in its
design. Everything that He created is beautiful and
purposeful.Including you and me.
To create is an act of love. It is an act of faith. The Creator loves
you and believes in you. Believe in Him, believe in yourself, believe
in humanity, and believe in the unique path that Allah has chosen for
you.

ISLAMIC ARTICLE -:- If you don’t speak their language…
I've learnt many things when it comes to speaking Arabic in Cairo
(indeed, in many Middle-Eastern countries), but nothing stares at me
so much in the face as the clear difference between Fus-ha (classical)
and ' Amiyyah (colloquial) Arabic.
My father once related a funny incident that happened when he was a
student in Cairo (paraphrased by me):
I was a young soldier out with my group when we suddenly got lost.
Now, because we were international students/soldiers under thewing of
the Egyptian Army,we were not yet fully exposed to normal Egyptian
life nor were we exposed to the intricate subtleties of the common
man's language! So anyway, the group got lost. We searched for a
wayback but it was hopeless. Then, alhamdulillah we saw an Egyptian
and decided to ask him for directions. The group put forward their
best student who spoke Arabic the best… but oh dear, he spoke only
fus-ha (classical Arabic) and so he stepped forward to the
unsuspecting Egyptian and said to him with a spur of confidence:
نَحنُ ضلَلَنا إلى الطريق
فهَلْ تُرشِدُنا إلي الصِرَاطِ المُسْتقِيمِ
We have gotten lost on ourway
So will you thus guide us to the Straight Path?
Lol, when I first heard this, I almost died of laughter. In a land
where the streets and general life is dominated by the colloquial
Arabic ('Amiyyah), a group of young soldiers coming out with such a
statement can only be described as being 'classical' (pun totally
intended). What was even funnier is that the studentsdidn't even give
the name of the place they were intending – they could've said "direct
us to the Kulliyat al-Harb (Military Faculty)" etc, but no, it had to
be the Straight Path!
This incident is an interesting one because it shows something that
many of us students encounter and struggle with when we first learn
Arabic – the war between fus-ha and 'amiyyah . You might find yourself
spending months and months learning the classical tongue only to find
that you can't use it in daily life because the general public don't
speak that way in their general affairs. I must admit, in the
beginning of my studies when I was just a teen, I was a staunch
advocate forthe fus-ha Arabic, almost militant in my stubbornness and
outright refusal to speak 'Amiyyah and let it taint my progress. I
remember whenever I went shopping,or popped down to the grocers, I
used to battle with the poor grocer. Oftenmy conversations with him(or
whoever I'd interact with in the market/various places) went something
like this:
Grocer : $*%^%$&^%&*#& [throws sentences at me in'amiyyah]
Me : Sorry, I can't understand you. Can you speak Arabic, please?
Grocer : I am speaking Arabic!
Me (ever so zealous): No, you are not! Speak Arabic!
Grocer (in 'amiyyah): Wallahil-'Azim I am speaking it! %#&%%^$%£#^&*#
[Repeats everything again in 'amiyyah]
Me : **Frustration point**
In reality, it need not be a war (although yeah, it tookme a while to
soften up and retract from my hard-line fus-ha views!) As a student,
you'll probably only be staying a few months and understandably most
of your effort will need to go towards your studies and learning the
fus-ha tongue as much as time will allow you. In the beginning, you
might find that people will advise you with different things; some
will say to learn Fus-ha only, others will say that you should learn
'amiyyah alongside the fus-ha and yet others will say something
completely different. It can be quite confusing. Looking back now, I
don't really regret the way I did things, although I ignored the
'amiyyah completely atfirst (except for some words that I eventually
learnt out of mercy for thatold grocer man lol) but once my fus-ha was
stable,I actually turned my attention to the 'amiyyah and began taking
it in too.
So what to do?
Well, it's really up to you todo what you think it's best for your own
personal circumstance. But I would perhaps advise anyone studying
Arabic to put their main primary effort into the fusha and learn that
really well because studying the 'amiyyah beforehand (or alongside)
the fus-ha can have detrimental affects on yourlearning and progress
of the fusha.

ISLAMIC ARTICLE -:- In the Care of Allah:
I pondered over those whom Allah `azza wa jall has chosen for His
governance and those whom He has drawn close to Him. We have indeed
heard of their description and seen those whom we deem to be from
amongst them.
Thus I found that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala does not choose except
someone who is complete in his form without any fault in his way and
no shortcomings therein. So you see him possessing a good countenance,
is of proportionate posture, freefrom defects in his body, complete in
his inner self , generous , charitable , and intelligent . He is not
an imposter nor is he someone who deceives and betrays . He does not
possess hatred or envy and there aren't in him anyof these internal
flaws .
This is someone who (Allah) has raised from his infancy . So you'll
see him in childhood retreating from the other children as if he were
a shaykh (scholar) amongst them. Heis far removed from all ills and
vices, and he fears shortcomings. The tree of his high aspirations
continues to grow until he sees its fruits hanging overthe branches of
other youth. For he is passionate in (seeking) knowledge , preoccupied
with deeds , guarding and looking after his time , hastening to
seekout fadha'il (virtue) and in constant fear of falling short .
And if you only could see how the Guidance of Allah and Divine
Inspiration havesurrounded him, you would see how Allah takes him by

calls him to it, and He utilises him in all that's good and conceals

Qur'an Ayath~ ~ Seek your support from Allah
"And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carriedthem on
the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and
preferred them over much of what We have created…" – Quran, 17:70.
Allah has honored you. Dignity is your birthright. It's okay if you're
not perfect. No one is. You can stilllove yourself, with all your
specialgifts and funny habits, and whatever is lacking, well, you can
work on it. That's what all of us do.
Be patient with your parent and love them, but don't buy into their
negativity. Allah loves you and has a plan for you. Believe this and
move forward, and when you have children, shut down the cycle of
negativity and do better than your parent did. It's okay to be better
than your parents. Any good parent wants their children to surpass
them.
Show your own children patience, gentleness and endless love.
May Allah bless you and fill your heart with self-knowledge,
self-dignity, and hope for the future.

History :- Biographies of the Companions (Sahabah) ~ Abu Musa al-Ashari:
Abu Musa al-Ashari
When he went to Basrah as governor of the city, he called
theinhabitants to a meeting and addressed them: "The Amir al-Muminin,
Umar, has sent me toyou to teach you the Book of your Lord and the
Sunnah of His Prophet and to clean your streetsfor you."
People were taken aback when they heard these words. They could easily
understand that one of the responsibilities of a Muslimruler was to
instruct people in their religion. However, that one of his duties
should be to clean streets was something new and surprising to them.
Who was this governor of whomthe Prophet's grandson, al-Hasan,may God
be pleased with him said: "There was no rider who came to Basrah who
was better for its people than he."
His real name was Abdullah ibn Qays but he was and continues to be
known as Abu Musa al-Ashari. He left his native land, the Yemen, for
Makkah immediately after hearing that a Prophet had appeared there
whowas a man of rare insight, who called people to the worship of One
God and who insisted on thehighest standards of morality.
At Makkah, he stayed in the company of the Prophet and gained
knowledge and guidance. He returned to his country to propagate the
word of God and spread the mission of the noble Prophet, peace be on
him. We have no further news of him for more than a decade. Then just
after the end of the Khaybar expedition he came to the Prophet in
Madinah. His arrival there coincided with that of Jaffar ibn Abi Talib
and other Muslims from Abyssinia and the Prophet welcomed them all
with joy and happiness.
This time Abu Musa did not comealone. He came with more than fifty
persons from the Yemen all of whom had accepted Islam. Among them were
his two brothers, Abu Ruhm and Abu Burdah. The Prophet referred to the
whole group as the "Asharis".In fact he sometimes referred to all
Yemenis as Asharis after Abu Musa al-Ashari. He often praised the
group for their soft and tender-hearted nature and held them up to the
rest of his companions as a high example of good behavior. He once
said of them:
"If the Asharis go on an expedition or if they only have a little food
among them, they would gather all they have on one cloth and divide it
equally among themselves. They are thusfrom me and I am from them."
Abu Musa soon became highly esteemed in the Muslim community. He had
many great qualities. He was a faqih endowed with intelligence and
sound judgement and was ranked as one of the leading judges in the
early Muslim community. People used to say:"The judges in this ummah
are four: Umar, Ali, Abu Musa and Zayd ibn Thabit."
Abu Musa had a natural, uncomplicated disposition. He was by nature a
trusting person and expected people to deal withhim on the basis of
trust and sincerity.
In the field of jihad, he was a warrior of great courage
and endurance and skill. The Prophet said of him: "The master of
horsemen is Abu Musa."
"Abu Musa's insight and the soundness of his judgment did not allow
him to be deceived by an enemy in battle. In battle conditions he saw
situations with complete clarity and executed his actions with a firm
resolve.
Abu Musa was in command of the Muslim army traversing the lands of the
Sasanian Empire. At Isfahan, the people came to him and offered to pay
the jizyah (in return for military protection) to make peace and avoid
fighting. However, they were not sincere in their offer and merely
wanted an opportunity to mount a treacherous attack on the Muslims.
Abu Musa however saw through their real intentions and he remained on
the alert. Thus when the Isfahanis launched their attack, the Muslim
leader was not caught off-guard, He engaged them in battle and before
midday of the following day, he had won a decisive victory.
In the major campaigns against the powerful Sasanian Empire Abu Musa's
role was outstanding. In the great Battle of Tustar itself, he
distinguished himself as a military commander.

ISLAMIC ARTICLE :- Islamic Marriage Khutbah (Wedding Speech)
This is a typical Muslim nikah khutbah (wedding speech) that would be
given by an Imam at a Muslim wedding. This particular speech was
translated from Arabic, I believe. I do not know the author's name:
Wedding Khutbah
"Thanks be to Allah that we praise Him, pray to Him for help; ask Him
for pardon; we believe in Him,We trust Him; and ask Himto guard us
from the evil of our own souls and fromthe evil consequences of our
own deeds. Whomsoever He leaves straying no one can guide him. I bear
witness that there is no God save Allah, who has no partner, and I
bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, whom He has
sent with truth as a bringer of good news and a warner.
The best word is the book of Allah, and the best way is that of
Muhammad, on whom be peace. The worst of all things are innovations
and every innovation leads astray, and every thing that leads astray
leads to Hell.
Whosoever obeys Allah and His messenger will be guided aright and
whosoever disobeys will cause loss to his own self (and thereafter).
Hereafter,I ask the refuge of Allah from Shaytan, the outcast.
O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord who created you from a
single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath
spread abroad a multitude of men and women. be careful of your duty
towards Allah in whom you claim (yourrights) of one another, and
toward the wombs (that bear you). Lo, Allah hath been a watcher over
you. [Surah Al Nisa' 4:1]
O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance,
and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him). [Surah Ali
'Imran 3:102]
O ye who believe! Guard your duty to Allah, and speak words straight
to the point; He will adjust your works for you and will forgive you
your sins. Whosoever obeyethAllah and His messenger,he verily hath
gained a signal victory. [Surah Al Ahzab 33:70-71]"
Marriage is one of the most important acts of worship in Islam. The
Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu layhi Wasallam) has told us how to live
as Muslims. One of the branches of faith is marriage. It has been thus
narrated in a Hadeeth that when a person marries, he has complete half
of his religion and so he should fear Allah regarding the remaining
half.
Shame, modesty, moral and social values and control of self desire are
just a few of the many teachings of Islam. Furthermore, these are just
a few of the many worships that a person can complete by performing
the ritual of marriage. Through marriage a person can be saved from
many shameless and immoral sins and through marriagehe has is more
able to control his desire. Therefore, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi
Wa Sallam) has said:
"O young men! Whoever is able to marry should marry, for that will
help him to lower his gaze and guard his modesty." [Sahih al-Bukhari]
Marriage is a strong oath that takes place between the man and women
in this world, but its blessings and contract continues even in
Jannah. It is the way of our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa
Sallam), and whosoever goes against this practice has been
reprimanded.
Hadhrat Anas ibn Malik narrates:
A group of three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet
(Sallallaahu layhi Wasallam) asking how theProphet worshipped (Allah),
and when they were informed about that, they considered their worship
insufficient and said:
"Where are we compared to the Prophet as his past and future sins have
been forgiven?"
Then one of them said: "I will offer the prayer throughout the night forever."
The other said: "I will fast throughout the year and will not break my fast."
The third said: "I will keepaway from the women and will not marry forever."

Jokes :- Love for your partner what you love for yourself
To summarize the duties of brotherhood and sisterhood in Islam, we
should love for our brother and sister what we love for ourselves.
This is an incredible teaching that if implemented would go a long way
towards improving relations between us. This spirit of love is
especially important between husbands and wives, as we often treat
each other as abstract enemies as opposed to Muslims, first and
foremost.
- Imam Zaid Shakir
This is an excellent observation and insightful piece of advice. Many
of usare familiar with this hadith but have not thought of it in terms
of husband and wife.
When we want for our spouse what we want for ourselves, it takes our
marriage to a new level oflove. We begin to think about our partners
needs and wants, we pray for our partner just as we pray for
ourselves, we work for our partner's material and spiritual success as
much as our own.
We also forgive them for their mistakes just as we would hope to be
forgiven. We praise them for the good they do, thank them, hug them,
and when they need it we correct them in kindness. That's love, and
it's what agood marriage is made of.

ISLAMIC ARTICLE ~ ~ Musa; Eloquence on a Different Level
Prophet Musa (`alayhisalam) is often described as being strong, tough
and a force against the harshness that surrounded him. See, he was
destined to go up against the barbaric Pharaoh, so Allah `azza wa jall
raised him in a way where he'd be fit to face the horrors and physical
calamities that were to occur to him in his time (surviving
persecution, the killing of his opponent, exile, coming back to the
Pharoah, leading Bani Israel from oppression etc).
But one interesting characteristic of Musa (`alayhisalam) is that he
was not eloquent nor did he possess fluency or ease of speech (which
is in contrast to the Prophet Muhammad (s) who was granted 'jawami'
al-kalim' , i.e. high eloquence).
Musa acknowledged this impediment and feared that Pharaoh would use it
against him.Remember, he was a Messenger delivering a message - and
naturally it would be that much more difficult to get across your
message if you cannot speak as well as your opponent. It only makes
the battle harder. Let's lookat Musa's acknowledgement of this:
He said in his supplication to Allahsubhanahu wa ta'ala:
وَأَخِي هَارُونُ هُوَ أَفْصَحُ مِنِّي لِسَانًا فَأَرْسِلْهُ مَعِيَ
رِدْءًا يُصَدِّقُنِي ۖ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
"And my brother Aaron is more fluent than me in tongue, so send him
with me as support, verifying me . Indeed, I fear that they will deny
me ." [al-Qasas: 34]
He feared that the Message wouldbe denied on account of his speech
defect. And indeed, he was denied by Pharaoh and his elites. In fact,
Pharaoh used this as an insult against Musa and said:
أَمْ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي هُوَ مَهِينٌ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ
"Or am I [not] better than this one who is insignificant and hardly
makes himself clear ?" [al-Zukhruf: 52]
So, why does this characteristic of Musa interest us?
Because subhan'Allah, perhaps this is why Allah `azza wa jall singled
him out and spoke to himdirectly . Pharaoh was arrogant and saw
himself above speaking to Musa because he 'couldn't make himself
clear', and so Allah honoured Musa by raising to up to Mount Sinai and
speaking to him directly – to show that despite the speech impediment,
he was worthy of conversing with his Lord .
"And [We sent] Messengers about whom We have related to you before and
Messengers about whom We have not related to you. And Allah spoke to
Moses with a direct speech ." [al-Nisa: 164]
Hence Musa is forever remembered as ' Kaleemullah' – the one who
conversed with Allah.
A lesson: Sometimes, people may disregard you and belittle you,
thinking that you are not worthy of something, but in some future turn
of events, Allah `azza wa jall will raise you and bring you out as
better. He will draw you closer to Him and give you from His Mercy,
and also make clear to the people what you are truly deserving of. Let
us humble ourselves and never look down on anyone, because not
everyone's reality is clear, and perhaps the ones we look down upon
are a million times better and more deserving than us in the Sight of
Allah `azza wa jall

HISTORY :-How did Muhammad become a Messenger of God?
At the age of 40, while engaged in a meditative retreat, Muhammad
received his first revelationfrom God through the Archangel Gabriel.
This revelation, which continued for twenty-threeyears, is known as
the Qur'an.
Muhammad began to recite the words he heard from Gabriel and to preach
the truth which God had revealed to him. The people of Makkah were
steeped in their ways of ignorance and opposed Muhammad and his small
group of followers in everyway. These early Muslims suffered bitter
persecution.
In the year 622 CE, God gave the Muslim community the command to
emigrate. This event, thehijrah or migration, in which they left
Makkah for the city of Madinah, some 260 miles to the North, marks the
beginning of theMuslim calendar.
Madinah provided Muhammad and the Muslims the safe and nurturing haven
in which the Muslim community grew. After several years, the Prophet
and his followers returned to Makkah, where they forgave their enemies
and dedicated the Ka'bah to theworship of the One God. Before the
Prophet died at the age of 63, the greater part of Arabia was Muslim,
and within a century of his death, Islam had spread to Spain in the
west and as far east as China.

ISLAMIC ARTICLE :- How did the spread of Islam affect the World?
The Muslim community expanded rapidly after the Prophet's death.
Within a few decades, the territory under Muslim rule had extended
onto three continents--Asia, Africa andEurope. Over the next few
centuries this Empire continued to expand and Islam gradually became
the chosen faith of the majority of its inhabitants. Among the reasons
for the rapid and peaceful spread of Islam was the simplicity of its
doctrine--Islam calls for faith in only One God worthy of worship.
Islam also repeatedly instructs human beings to use their powers of
intelligence and observation.
As Muslim civilization developed, it absorbed the heritage of ancient
civilizations like Egypt, Persia and Greece, whose learning was
preserved in the libraries and with the scholars of its cities. Some
Muslim scholars turned their attention to these centers of learning
and sought to acquaint themselves with the knowledge taught and
cultivated in them. They, therefore, set about with a concerted effort
to translate the philosophical and scientific works available to them,
not onlyfrom the Greek and Syriac languages (the languages of eastern
Christian scholars), but also from Pahlavi, the scholarly language of
pre-Islamic Persia, and even from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian
language.

ISLAMIC ARTICLE :-Be someone’s silver lining
They say every cloud has a silver lining. Goodness knows, a lot of
people these days are laboring under heavy clouds. I am, sometimes.
Maybe you are too.
Today, how about being someone else's silver lining? Relieve someone's
distress, bring ease to someone's heart, and help someone, as the
Messengerof Allah (pbuh) said,
"Whoever relieves a believer from a distress of this life, Allah will
relieve from him a distress on the Day of Judgment. Whosoever brings
ease to a believer who is in difficulty, Allah will bring ease to him
in both this lifeand the next. Whosoever conceals the shortcomings of
a Muslim, Allah will conceal his shortcomings inthis world and the
next. Allah will always help a servant as long as that servant helps
his brother."
Many of us are familiar with Allah's words in the Quran, in Surat
al-Balad. It'sa Juz Amma surah, frequently memorized:
"And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult
pass? It is the freeing of aslave, or feeding on a dayof severe hunger
an orphan of near relationship, or a needy person in misery; and then
being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and
advised one another to compassion. Those are the companions of the
right."
What if you don't have the capability at this moment of feeding an
orphan, or a needy person? The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) has given us
examples of extremely simple things each of us can do that still count
in Allah's eyes as sadaqah (charity). He (peace be upon him) said:
"Charity is prescribed for each descendant of Adam every day the sun
rises." Hewas then asked: "From what do we give charity every day?"
The Prophet answered: "The doors of goodness are many… enjoining good,
forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf,
leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying
with the strength of one's legs to one in sorrow who is asking for
help, and supporting the feeble with the strength of one's arms — all
of these are charity prescribed for you." He alsosaid: "Your smile for
your brother is charity." – Fiqh-us-Sunnah, Volume 3, Number 98
All of these are only examples. Look around youat your community. What
needs are not being met? What distress are people in? What simple
things can you do to help the people around you?
*. Muslims in communities from California to New York, and in other
nationsas well, have started soupkitchens to feed the poor and
homeless.
*. Muslims in Baltimore USA and other cities have opened shelters for
victims of domestic abuse.
*. There are many organizations that allow you to support an
orphananywhere in the world. For a monthly donation that's probably
less than you would spend on a movie or a restaurant dinner, you can
make sure that one child is fed, clothed, and educated.
*. Volunteer jobs are plentiful. The Prophet (pbuh) mentioned leading
the blind. Even today many blind people need assistance from
volunteers. You can help with grocery shopping, reading the newspaper,
or sending and reading email.
*. Many public libraries haveadult literacy programs, and always need
tutors to help teach people to read and write.
*. Campaign online, throughFacebook and forums, to raise money for
victims ofdisasters like the recent typhoon in Indonesia, or the
floods in Pakistan. Or work with your local masjid to collect
clothing, blankets and food supplies from your local community to be
sent to disaster areas.
*. Volunteers in some inner cities have turned abandoned lots into
organic food gardens. Theinner city residents all pitch in to help,
and the result is healthy food for people who otherwise would not have
access to fresh produce, and a new sense of community brotherhood and
sisterhood.
There are countless other examples I could give. Evenclearing some
broken glassout of the road or smiling at someone are counted as
sadaqah; they may seem like small things, but the stakes are greater
than youor I can imagine.
It's not about being a goody-two-shoes, impressing your friends,
having a story to tell, or earning a merit badge. It's not about
recognition. It's about changing the world one small step at a time,
earning Allah's pleasure, saving your own soul, and becoming one of
the people of Paradise. What could be more important?

ISLAMIC ARTICLE -:- Dunya: An Overflowing Sea
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "Whoever
wakes up with good health, safety and he has with him food for the
day, then it is as if the world has been gatheredfor him. O Ibn
Ju'shum, what suffices you of it is that which prevents your hunger
and that which conceals you; whether that's a garment which you can
wear or an animal which you can ride upon, then indeed, how fine that
would be! (It is) half a bread and some running water, andyou shall be
called to account for whatever liesabove the Izar (lower garment)."
[Majma' al-Zawa'id 10/292, Mawarid al-Dham'an 2503]
Abu Hatim: 'The intelligentperson must never be deluded by this world
and its dazzles, its beauty and splendors, such that he occupies
himself with it as opposed to occupying himself with the eternal
Hereafter and the everlasting delight (of Paradise). Rather, he should
place the world where Allah has placed it because its end will no
doubt perish. Its civilizations shall become ruins, its inhabitants
shall die, its magnificence will depart and its greenery will be
destroyed. There will remain no arrogant leader in command and no poor
and humiliated one, except that the glass of death shall pass over
them. Then they will depart to the dust where they will become worn out
until they return to what they were in the beginning; ruins (i.e.
dust). Then the Knower of the Unseen (Allah) shall inherit the earth
and all that is upon it. Thus the intelligent one never places his
reliance ona home of this description and he cannot find tranquility
in a world like this – for indeed what lies in store for him is that
which no eye has seen, no ear has heard and has never occurred to the
human mind. So he holds back by abandoning this small and diminutive
world and instead takes pleasure in that superior and abundant world.'
Shu'ayb ibn Ahmad once recited to Sulayman ibn Yazid:
Don't you see how a person exerts his years of youth,
But fate and destiny seem to disrupt the lives of men.
So there is he who tastes the bitter cup of death,
And there is he who awaitsa similar experience.
They have in store for them, a rapid and passing provision,
And all must one day drink from the cup of death.
There is no inheritor exceptthat his wealth will be inherited,
And there is no plunderer except that he will soon bedeprived.
There is none who shows affection except that his love is sold,
And there is no blessing except that it will soon depart .
There is no healthy or afflicted one whom days consume,
Except that it will soon go and be removed.
I see people as guests, whohave settled in estrangement,
Their days revolving around them, and overturning them.
There is a charm in this home of delusion which they have built,
But they have surely seen and experienced its rapidness and fleet.
So they criticize the Dunya (world) but yet they don't desist from its milk,
Indeed, I have not seen thelike of this world; it's criticized yet milked.
It delights them abruptly, yet it harms them suddenly,/

HADEES:->-
"This world is like an overflowing sea, and people are overturned in
