Ramadan File, Dought & clear, - * Having a number of congregations for Taraweeh prayer in one mosque for the purpose of training those who have memorised the Qur’an inleading the prayer.













Taraweeh prayers are held in congregation in the city of Old Delhi, with between four and five congregations in one mosque at the same time, because there are a lot of people who have memorised the Qur’an, and each one of them wants to lead the prayer. In fact in one mosque you will find four or five imams. Naturally the microphones are not given to any one of these congregations, so that no disturbance will be caused to the other congregations. How valid is that? What is the solution so that each of the people who have memorised the Qur’an can have a turn at leading the prayers?

I put this question to our shaykh, ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn Barraak (may Allah preserve him), and he replied that there is no reason not to do that, so long as it serves a purpose and it will not cause a disturbance to some of them.
In the beginning, the Sahaabah used to pray Taraweeh in more than one congregation, until ‘Umar united them in a single congregation.
Al-Bukhaari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated in hisSaheeh(2010) from ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn ‘Abd al-Qaari’ that he said: I went out with ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allah be pleased with him) one night in Ramadan to the mosque, where we saw the people in scattered groups, one man praying by himself, and another man praying with a group of people following his prayer. ‘Umar said: I think that if I unite these people behind one reciter, it will be better. Then he decided to do that, so he united them behind Ubayy ibn Ka‘b.

Ramadan File, Dought & clear, - * Who ever breaks the fast when making up a missed Ramadaan fast only has to make up one day.

A woman was making up one of the days that she did not fast in Ramadaan because of menstruation, then her period came on that day when she was making up the fast. Does she have to make up one day or two?.
Praise be to Allaah.
She only has to make up the day that she did not fast in Ramadaan, because the day she was fasting when her period came was only to replace the day that she did not fast in Ramadaan; it was not a new obligatory fast.
Ibn Hazm said inal-Muhalla(6/271): Whoever deliberately breaks a fast observed to make up for a missed Ramadaan fast only has to make up one day, because the obligation to make up the fast applies only to the Ramadaan fast. It was narrated in a saheeh report that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made up that day he missed of Ramadaan. So it is not permissible to add more to it without any shar’i text to support that and without any scholarly consensus. It was narrated from one of the salaf that he has to make up two days, the day from Ramadaan and the day when he was making up that fast.
It says inal-Taaj wa’l-Ikleel: Whoever breaks a fast observed to make up for a missed day from Ramadaan only has to make up one day. 3/387.

Ramadan File, Dought & clear, - * Taking pills to prevent period in the last ten days of Ramadaan.











If a woman’s period is going to come in the last ten days of Ramadaan, is it permissible for her to use contraceptive pills so that she can continue to worship during these days of blessing?
Praise be to Allaah.
This question was put to Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) and he said:
We do not think that she should use these pills to help her worship Allaah, because the period which happens to her is something which Allaah has decreed for the daughters of Adam.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) entered upon ‘Aa’ishah when she was with him during the Farewell Pilgrimage. She had entered ihraam for ‘Umrah, then her period came before she reached Makkah. He entered upon her and found her weeping. He asked, “Why are you weeping?” and she told him that her period had come. He told her, “This is something which Allaah has decreed for the daughters of Adam.” So the period is not something which is under her control. If it comes during the last ten days of Ramadaan, then let her accept what Allaah has decreed for her and not use these pills. I have heard from trustworthy doctors that these pills cause harm to the uterus and the blood, and they may cause deformity in the foetus if she should conceive. Hence we think that she should avoid them. If her period comes and she cannot pray or fast, this is beyond her control and is the decree of Allaah.
