Imam Reza (as) has said:"Wisdom is man's friend, and ignorance is his enemy."
Ibn Sikkit, a great literaryscholar of his era, once asked Imam Reza
(as):"Why did Allah (SWT) appoint different miracles to each prophet?
He sent Prophet Musa / Moses (pbuh)withmiracles of the cane and the
halo hand, Prophet Isa/Jesus (pbuh)with the power to heal and Holy
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) with the miracle of eloquence?"
Imam Reza (as) replied:"When Allah (SWT) appointed Musa / Moses as a
prophet, it was in anera when magic and supernatural acts were more
common among people than science. Musa / Moses therefore, brought an
act that people had never seen before and could not understand it
through their rational. With this miracle, he was able to refute the
works of the magicians and give them clear proof.
At the time of Isa/Jesus, on the other hand, diseases without cure had
spread throughout. Science and medication was highly in demand.
Isa/Jesus therefore came to them with the miracle of healing all
diseases, a power not known to them, for he could give life to the
dead, and heal genetic blindness and leprosy. And through his
miracles, he fulfilled his proof upon the people ofhis time.
However, Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) was appointed at a time when
poetry and eloquence in language was very popular among the
communities. With the revelation of Holy Quran and its teachings,
Allah (SWT) refuted their reasoning."
The miracles of the previous prophets were suitable for the era in
which they lived. We do not have access to most of them. The only
eternal miracle that has lived its way to us is Holy Quran: amiracle
that till this day isbeing examined in all its different aspects,
including its eloquence and language. Although Holy Quran descended in
an era where significant attention was paid to poetry and language,
nevertheless Holy Quran was not limited to that era, rather later
generations can also relate to its message and miracles. For instance,
there are cases in which Holy Quran predicts the future; and even
cases in which Holy Quran points to secrets of creation thatwere
discovered long after Holy Quran's revelation. These facts imply that
Holy Quran was revealed by the one who knows everything about the
creation of theuniverse. Further, this holy book of Islam was brought
by a Prophet who had not gone to anyacademy or school, and therefore
could not have compiled Holy Quran himself. Indeed Holy Quran was
descended by the Lord of the universe.
Has the time of miracles ended? Will we no longerwitness any miracles?
Considering the fact that the miracles of the previous prophets were
specifically designed for a certain time and place, must we then for
the sake of our own faith refer back to the historical accounts on
miracles to become a believer?
In quest for finding answers to these questions, we come across the
holy book of Islam. Holy Quran is the only book that clearly and
firmly claims to be a living miracle for all humans of any race, in
any place, and with any ethnicity they hold.
How Holy Quran views itself a Miracle of Islam?
As we already know, a miracle is an extraordinary act that can not be
performed by just any person. One whom claims to be a prophet will
then prove his status by presenting amiracle. The message miracles
tend to get across to humanity is thatsince human capacities fail to
create miracles, then surely the miracles must be planned and ordered
by a power exceeding above human powers: the power of thecreator of
this world. In other words, by giving the power of miracles to the
prophets, His chosen people, Allah (SWT) has confirmed His direct
connection with the prophets.
Similarly, to prove that it surely is a miracle from Allah (SWT), Holy
Quran challenges the people that doubt the divinity ofthis book to
bring a booksimilar to Holy Quran. It then clearly alleges that if all
the people unite to bring a complete book like that of Holy Quran,
they will not succeed. To make its point more clearand to further
prove the incapability of man in bringing a book like HolyQuran, Noble
Quran this time challenges the people to then bring onlyten chapters
like the chapters of Holy Quran. And just as the answer is obvious to
Holy Quran, it claims that indeed man cannot do such, "Or, do they
say: He has forged it.Say: Then bring ten forged chapters like it and
call upon whom you can besides Allah, if you are truthful; But if they
do not answer you, then know that it is revealed by Allah's knowledge"
(Holy Quran, 11:13-14). And finally to show the extremity of their
weakness, it agrees to continue this challenges with only one
chapter,"And if you are in doubt as to that which We haverevealed to
Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses
besides Allah if you are truthful" (Holy Quran, 2:23). And again Holy
Quran alleges that they can not do such,"But if you do (it) not
andnever shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of
which men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers"
(Holy Quran, 2:24).
It is interesting to know what aspect Holy Quran used for this
challenge. Islamic scholars believe that the entire Holy Quran offers
many different miracles. However, when Holy Quran challenges based on
each one of its chapters it focuses on theeloquence and fluency ofthe
verses.
The Holy Scripture of Islam: Holy Quran in terms of its eloquence and fluency
Eloquence and fluency is meant in this sense that in trying to convey
the message, one uses very clear, beautiful, poetic, and meaningful
terms. Scholars of Arab literature have noticed these features in all
chapters of Holy Quran.
Looking further into their argument, we have to first see if anyone
during the past 1400 years has been able to refute Holy Quran in
bringing even one chapter like that in Holy Quran? Is it really true
that up to this day no one has been able to defeat Holy Quran? To
answer this question, we must refer back to historical accounts.
Historians, both Muslim and Non-Muslim, have not recorded any
successful accounts of those who tried to defeatthe claim of Holy
Quran. This is significant because historical accounts tend to focus
greatly on the enemies ofHoly Prophet Muhammad(PBUH&HP) and on the
ones who constantly challenged Islam; thus if they had been successful
in such a challenge, historians would have definitely recorded it.
Likewise we can see that in the contemporary era, not one has
succeeded inchallenging Holy Quran.
Why have others remained silent in answering the challenge of Holy Quran?
Was the reason for remaining silent against the challenge of Holy
Quran due to the incapability and weakness of human beings? Or does it
have other reasons? To answerthis question, we can first assume three
reasons for why people have remained silent in answering the challenge
offered by Holy Quran:
1. It may be due to the fact that the people of this and the previous
eras did not have a motive to answer this challenge of Holy Quran.
2. There was a motive to answer the challenge, but after the
revelation of Holy Quran, Arab literature became weak and eventually
diminished. Similarly non-Muslim Arab scholarsof literature do not
exist in the present day to answer this challenge.
3. Neither of the previousideas hold true; rather, no one was able to
bring a book like Holy Quran, and thus abandoned the idea completely.
By studying the earliest situations, it is obvious that the appearance
of Holy Prophet Muhammad(PBUH&HP) was when many nations were
livingwith different beliefs. Some were materialistic and denying the
existence of any God. Some were idol worshipers,
Zoroastrians,Christians and Jews. Besides these, the emperors of
Persia, and Rome had control over the weak nations. Duringthat period
of time, Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) raised the divine flag, and
invited the world to accept Islam, and submit to one God. This
invitation to Monotheism denied duality of Zoroastrians, Trinity of
Christianity, and the improper attributes of Judaism to Allah and His
prophets, and all the bad habits and traditions from the time of
ignorance. Yet hissubmission to Allah (SWT)presented hostility between
the emperors ofhis time. Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) alone faced
those nations nonetheless, with Holy Quran as his proof of prophecy.
With Holy Quran he challengedall the emperors of his time, the
religious scholars of Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and
idolaters. Up to now, Islam has continued this way of challenging and
has more enemies from before trying to destroy it.
However, it is natural for them to focus on what they can do to
destroy Islam and stand against itfor the fact that Islam is
demolishing them.
They have tried and are trying many ways to wipe out Islam, in order
to achieve their goals. They put Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) and
his companions (Sahabah) in an economic siege for three years, which
was very hard on Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) and his people. The
big battles of Badr and Ohod which were caused by the non-believers to
destroy Islam, were unsuccessful and since they did not accomplish
their ambitions the non-believers became united in the battle of
Khandaq to get rid of Islam. They did everything they could to destroy
Islam, but their energy was worthless. Wouldn't it have been much
easier for them to come up with a man made verses instead of wasting
their time to fight with Islam in some other ways? And if they had
made up such verses which were equivalent to Holy Quran, it would have
been their proof that Islam is a false religion!
Of course the simplest way to void Holy ProphetMuhammad (PBUH&HP) and
his book was to stand up against him which was the case from the very
beginning of establishing Islam. Therefore amongst the enemies of
Islam who made their best to ruin Islam was enough motives to answer
the challenge of Holy Quran.
By over viewing the second condition, we must pay attention to
theliterary roots of Arabs which was going through a revolution.
Although eloquence and fluency was a common technique for the time
when Holy Quran was descended, but later on these techniques expanded
and flourishedcontinually up to our time. At his time the Arab
literacy is more excellent than before and there many new scopes in
the relative techniques. We can find many non-Muslim Arab literalists
throughout the world. Therefore there are many non-Muslims who are the
professionals of eloquence and fluency from the beginning of Islam to
now. Occasionally their expertise was to the extent that they have
written important reference book in their special field such as
linguistics, history, grammar. Let us imagine these literalists had
not motive to answer the challenge of Holy Quran, but couldn't the
enemies of Islam who were severely fighting against Islam, ask them to
supply their need.
So now that we cannot accept the first two conditions we should accept
the third one. No one has been able to answer the challenge Holy
Quran; the only reason could be that theywere unable to do so.
Therefore the truth of Holy Quran is being proved to all.

Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Holy Book of Islam: Holy Quran, the Eternal Miracleand Complete Way of Life
Miracle of Islam: Excavation of the Graves of true Companions of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw)
Though in normal cases and circumstances the dead bodies in the grave
decompose and disintegrate yet there areproofs where the dead bodies
of martyrs, prophets and saints have been found intact when their
graves were dug.
In 1932 A.D. (1351 A.H.) the then ruling King of Iraq Shah Faisal I,
dreamtthat he was being addressed by Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra),
who said:
"O King! Remove Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari and me from the bank of
river Tigris and bury us atsome safe place because my grave is already
water-logged, (full of water) while Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari's
grave is slowly getting water-logged."
This dream was repeatedagain the next night but King Faisal I, did not
pay attention to it on accountof his pre-occupation with state
affairs. On the third night Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra) was seen in
the dream bythe grand Mufti of Iraq. Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra)
said to thegrand Mufti: "I have beendirecting the king since two
nights to transfer our Bodies but he has not paid any heed. Tell him
emphatically to arrange for the transfer of our graves!"
So after discussing this matter, the King, his Prime Minister and the
Grand Mufti decided to carry out this work. It was decided that the
Grand Mufti should issue a fatwa (religious ruling) on this matter and
the Prime Minister will issue statement to the press, sothat the
public may knowabout this great event. It was declared that on 10th
Zulhijjahafter noon prayers the graves shall be opened and the holy
bodies shall be transferred to another place.
As it was Hajj season, pilgrims had gathered in Makkah. They requested
King Faisal I, to postpone the event for a few days so that they all
could attend the event after performing the Hajj. Hence, the King
postponed this event to 20th Zulhijjah.
After noon prayers, on 20th Zulhijjah 1351 A.H. alarge number of
Muslims and non-Muslims gathered in Baghdad, and the city was heavily
crowded. First when the grave of Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra) was
opened water was fond inside. The body was lifted with a crane in such
a way that it safely came on a stretcher. Then the stretcher was
lifted by the King, the Grand Mufti, the Prime Minister and Prince
Farooq of Egypt and brought to a glass coffin box made especially to
keep the holy bodies. Thebody of Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari
(ra) was also transferred to the glass box in the same scrupulous
manner.
The most marvelous spectacle was now seen by the huge crowd that had
gathered to witness this great event. Both theholy bodies of these
true companions (Sahabah)ofHoly Prophet Muhammad(saw) were fresh and
intact while their open eyes issued forth such divine light that the
spectator's eyes were dazzled. Furthermore, their coffin, clothes were
also intact and at first glance, it appeared as if these heroes of
Islam were alive. The two bodies were then taken away and buried
afresh near the grave of another great hero of Islam, Hazrat Salman-
e-Farsi (ra), in Salman Park which is 30 miles from Baghdad. This
miracle amazed the scientists, philosophers and doctors. They were all
bewildered and spellbound to witness this great miracle.
A German physiologist who had been showing alot of interest in this
was so impressed by the conditions of the bodies, which were buried
for more than a thousand years, that he immediately came to the Grand
Mufti, held up his hands and said, "What more evidence can there be in
support of Islam. I embrace Islam so teach me about it!" Thus
beforethousands of people this German doctor became a Muslim. His
example was followed by many Christians and Jews and for a long time
it continued in Baghdad and a large number of people became Muslims as
a result of this miracle.
Now let us all sit-back and think over this event and derive a lesson
from this miracle. Pondering over such events is potent food for the
mind and serves as an eye-opener to humanity. Some of the material
above was published in aPakistani newspaper,"Daily Jung" on 7th June
1970.
Let us now briefly look into the lives of these prominent personalities.
Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra)
Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra) was one ofthe most trusted companions
(Sahabah) ofHoly Prophet Muhammad(saw) and a near associate of Imam
Ali (as).He was one of those seven persons who joined the funeral
prayers of Bibi Fatemah (sa). There are several instances in history
where Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra) has proved steadfast in his
loyalty to our Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw). Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani
(ra) had responded to the Prophet's call in battle of Trench (Khandaq)
when Prophet Muhammad (saw) had promised Paradise to the person who
would venture out to the enemy's camp with the intention of spying
their activities. Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra) was known as "the
possessor of the Secret", since Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) had
revealed to him the names and specific identity of those hypocrites
who intendedto kill him on his return journey from Tabuk, but had
strictly instructed him not to disclose the secret. Hazrat Hudhaifa
al-Yamani (ra) was appointed governor of Madain (which is a place near
Baghdad, Iraq) by Caliph Omar and held that post for many years. He
was holding that post till Imam Ali (as) assumed the Caliphate. Imam
Ali (as) then sent a letter to the people of Madain, informing them of
his Caliphate and that HazratHudhaifa al-Yamani (ra) would continue to
be thegovernor of Madian. Hazrat Hudhaifa al-Yamani (ra) died just
before the battle of Jamal in 36 A.H. He was buried in Madain.
Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra)
Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) was also one of the most
exalted companions (Sahabah) ofHoly Prophet Muhammad(saw). Hazrat
Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) was in the forefront in 18battles,
under the bannerof Islam. Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) was
blessed enough to have met all the Imams up to Imam Mohammad Baqir
(as) in his lifetime. Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (as) has said: "Jabir ibn
Abdullah al-Ansari was the last survivor amongstthe companions of the
Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw). Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra),
on hearing about the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (as) and his companions
and the imprisonment and humiliation of the surviving members of his
family, hastened towardsKarbala with his devoted friends and followers
and buried the martyrs there. He was the first person to pay homage
tothe martyrs of Karbalaand carry out their burialrites. Holy Prophet
Muhammad (saw) once told Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra)
that, he would live long enough to come across a person whose name
would be Mohammad Baqir and he will resemble the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(saw) in appearance and values. Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) asked
Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) to convey his Salaams to this
man. Throughout his life Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) was

Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) did meet the Holy Imam he was
very old but very happy and he conveyed the Prophet Muhammad's (saw)
Salaam to the Imam Mohammad Baqir (as). Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah
al-Ansari (ra) did not live long after that. He was tortured by Hajjaj
bin Yusuf and it is reported that molten lead was poured on the hands
of Hazrat Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) bythe tyrant. Hazrat Jabir
ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) was 94 years old when he left this world
for the heavenly abode in 78 A.H. He was also buried in Madain.
Thus let us send our gift of Sure Fatiha for these two brilliant
graduates from the school of Prophet hood, who devoted all their
efforts in safeguarding our religion. Let us not forgettheir
invaluable contribution to keep the flame of Islam kindled in our
hearts. And pray to Almighty Allah (SWT) to help us follow their
footsteps and elevate ourlevel of Imaan.

Ramadan Articles - Making the Most of Ramadan - II
The month ofRamadanis the month of great gains and profits. The wise
trader is the one who makes the most of specialoccasions to increase
his profits. So make the mostof this month by increasing in your acts
of worship, praying a great deal, reading the Quran, forgiving people,
being kind to others and givingcharity to the poor.
In the month ofRamadanthe gates of Paradise are opened and the gates
of Hell are closed, the devils are put in chains and a caller cries
out each night: O seeker of good, proceed! O seeker of evil, stop!
Therefore, O slaves of Allaah, be among the blessed people, by
following the path of your righteous predecessors who were guided by
theSunnah)tradition( of your Prophet,, so that we may come out
ofRamadanwith our sins forgiven and our righteous deeds accepted.
The month ofRamadanis the best of months, as Ibn al-Qayyimsaid,
"An example of the differentiation between the things that Allaah
hascreated – is the fact that the month of Ramadan is superior to all
other months, and the last ten nights are superior to all other
nights."]Zaad Al-Ma'aad[
This month is superior to others for four reasons:
1 – In it there is the best night of the year, which
isLaylat-ul-Qadr.Allaah The Almighty Says )what means(:}Indeed, We
sentthe Quran down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you
know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a
thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by
permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace itis until the
emergence of dawn.{]Quran 97:1-5[
So observing worship on this night is better than worshipping for a
thousand months.
2 – In this month the bestof Books was revealed to the best of the
Prophets,. Allaah The Almighty Says )what means(:
·}The month of Ramadan]is that[ in which was revealed the Quran, a
guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and
criterion{]Quran 2:185[
·}Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to
warn ]mankind[. On that night is made distinct every precise matter
]Every[ matter]proceeding[ from Us. Indeed, We were to send]a
messenger{]Quran 44:3-5[
Ahmad and At-Tabaraani narrated on the authority of Waathilah ibn
Al-Asqa'that the Messenger of Allaah,, said:"The Scriptures of
Ibraaheem were sent down on the first night of the month of Ramadan.
The Torah was sent down on the sixth ofRamadan. The Gospel was sent
down on the thirteenth of Ramadan. The Zaboor was sent down on the
eighteenth of Ramadan, and the Quran was sent down on the
twenty-fourth of Ramadan."]Al-Albaani:Hasan[
3 – In this month the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell
are closed, and the devilsare chained up.
It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrahthat the Messenger of
Allaah,, said:"When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened

chains."]Muslim[
Abu Hurayrah also narrated that the Messenger of Allaah,, said:"When
Ramadan comes, the gates of mercy are opened, the gates of Hell are
closed, and the devils are put in chains."]An-Nasaa'i;
Al-Albaani:Saheeh[
Al-Tirmithi, Ibn Maajah and Ibn Khuzaymah narrated in one report:"When
the first night of the month of Ramadan comes, the devils and
rebellious jinn are chained up, all the gates of Hell are closed, and
none of its gates are opened. All the gates of Paradise are opened,
andnone of its gates are closed. A caller cries out: 'O seeker of
goodness, proceed; O seeker of evil, desist. Allaah has those whom He
redeems from the Fire every night."
]Al-Albaani:Hasan[.
If it is asked, how is it that we see many evil actions and sins
committed inRamadan, whereas if the devils were chained up, that would
not happen?
The answer is that evil actions become less for those who observe the
conditions and etiquettesof fasting, or that those who are chained up
are some of the devils – namely the rebellious ones – not all of them,
or that what is meant is thatevil is reduced inRamadan, which is a
proven fact. If evil happens at this time, it is still less than at
other times. Even if all of them)the devils( are chained up, that does
not necessarily mean that no evil or sin will happen, because there
are other causes of that besides thedevils, such as evil souls, bad
habits and the devils among humankind.
4 – There are many acts of worship particular toRamadan, some of
whichare not done at other times, such as fasting,Qiyaam)voluntary
night prayers(, feeding people, staying in seclusion in the mosque,
giving charity, and reciting the Quran.
trader is the one who makes the most of specialoccasions to increase
his profits.
It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrahthat the Messenger of
Allaah,, said:"When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened
and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils areput in

Ramadan Articles - Making the Most of Ramadan - I
The days ofRamadanpassby very quickly, as if they were fleeting
moments. We welcomedRamadanlast year and bade it farewell and we are
welcomingRamadanagain after a short while,so we should hasten to do
good deeds in this month and strive to fill it with all the deeds
which Allaah The Almighty is pleased with and with that the actions
which will help us on the Day when we meet Him.
How can we prepare for Ramadan?
We can prepare forRamadanby taking ourselves to account and
recognizing our shortcomings in living upto the testimony that none
has the right to be worshipped but Allaah The Almighty and that
Muhammad is His Messenger.
We should set ourselves straight so that inRamadanwe will have a
higher degree of faith, asfaith increases and decreases. It increases
through obedience to Allaah The Almighty and decreases through
disobedience and sin. The first act of obediencethat a person should
achieve is that of being atrue slave of Allaah The Almighty and
believing that there is none that is rightfully worshipped except
Allaah The Almighty. Thus, a person should direct all acts of worship
to Allaah The Almighty and not associate anyone else in worship with
Him. Each of us should realize that he could not have escaped whatever
has befallen him, and whatever has missed himcould not have befallen
him, and that everything happens by the will and decree of Allaah The
Almighty.
We should avoid everything that could undermine our commitment to the
two testimonies of faith. This means keeping away from innovations and
things that have been introduced into the religion. We should also
follow the principle of observing loyalty and disassociation by taking
the believers as our allies, as well as regarding the disbelievers and
hypocrites as our enemies, so we should rejoice when the Muslimsgain a
victory over their enemies. We must follow the example of the
Prophet,, and his Companions and adhere to theSunnah)tradition( of the
Prophet,, and the way of the rightly-guided successors who came after
him. We must love theSunnahand love those who adhere to it and defend
it, in whatever country they are, and of whatever color or nationality
they are.
We should bring ourselves to account and recognize our shortcomings in
performing acts of worship such as praying in congregation,
remembering Allaah The Almighty, paying attention to the rights of
neighbors, relatives and the Muslims in general, spreading the
greeting ofSalaam, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil,
urging one another to follow the truth, to be patient, to be steadfast
indoing so, to persist in avoiding evil actions and in doing good
deeds, and accepting the decreeof Allaah The Almighty with patience.
Then we should bring ourselves to account for committing sins and
following desires. We should stop ourselves from persisting in that
state, whether the sin is great or small, whether itis a sin of the
eye, by looking at that which Allaah The Almighty has forbidden, or by
listeningto music, or by walking to things which Allaah The Almighty
does not like, or by using one's hands to strike in a manner with
which Allaah The Almighty is notpleased, or by consumingthings that
Allaah The Almighty has forbidden such as usury and bribes, or any
other means of consuming people's wealth unlawfully.
We should never forget that Allaah The Almighty stretches forth His
hand during the day to accept the repentance of those who sinned at
night, andHe stretches forth His hand at night to accept the
repentance of those who sinned during the day.
Allaah The Almighty Says)what means(:
·}And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the
heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous who spend ]in the cause
of Allaah[ during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who
pardon the people - and Allaah loves the doers of good; And those who,
when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves ]by transgression[,
remember Allaah and seek forgiveness for theirsins - and who can
forgive sins except Allaah? - and ]who[ do not persist in what they
havedone while they know. Those - their reward is forgiveness from
their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow ]in Paradise[,
wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent isthe reward of
the]righteous[ workers.{]Quran3: 133-136[,
·}Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves ]by
sinning[, do not despair of the mercy of Allaah. Indeed, Allaah
forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the forgiving, the
merciful.{]Quran 39:53[
·}And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himselfbut then seeks forgiveness
of Allaah will find Allaah forgiving and merciful{]Quran 4:110[
This is the proper way to welcomeRamadan: by taking ourselves to
account, repenting and seeking forgiveness. As the saying goes,"The
wise man is the one who takes stock of himself and strives to do that
which will benefit him after death, and the helpless one is that who
follows his own desires and engages in wishful thinking, )assuming
that Allaah will forgive him regardless of what he does and that he
does not need to strive to do good deeds(."]Narrated by Shaddaad ibn
