When the Imam gets on the minbar for the Khutbah as gives the salaam,
do the people reply of keep silent for fear of losing the rewardof the
Jumu'ah khutbah?
Jazakumullahu Khayran
As salaamu 'alaykum
al-hamdu lillaah.
If the Imam ascends the mimbar and greets the audience with the salaam
then the audience should respond. This would not be considered
frivolous discourse and would notviolate the silence required for
listening because the actual khutbah has not yet begun. Therefore,
until then, the audience can recite praises of Allaah and duaa', and
also repeat after the mu'athin who calls for prayer, which is timed
after the Imam has actually greeted the audience and has taken his
place on the mimbar.

Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Jumma Prayers - Replying Salaam to the Imam after he takes his place on the Mimbar
Jumma Prayers - Ruling on doing tawaaf during the Friday khutbah
Is it permissible to do the farewell tawaaf in the Haram whilst the
imam is delivering the Friday khutbah?.
Praise be to Allaah.
The scholars differed concerning the ruling ondoing tawaaf during
theFriday khutbah, whetherthat is an obligatory tawaaf such as tawaaf
al-ifaadah, the farewell tawaaf and the tawaaf of 'umrah, or it is
mustahabb.
The Maalikis are of the view that it is not allowed, by analogy with
prayer, because theone who is praying behind the imam is not allowed
to pray during the Friday khutbah, except for tahiyyat al-masjid
("greeting the mosque", two rak'ahs performed upon entering the
mosque). That is because it involves ignoring the khateeb and his
khutbah, and tawaaf is like prayer in this regard.
See Mawaahib al-Jaleel (3/78).
The Shaafa'is are of the view that it is permissible to do
tawaafduring the Friday khutbah, and they rejected the analogy with
prayer, because tawaaf does not preventone from listening to
thekhutbah, unlike prayer which is a greater distraction.
See al-Ghurar al-Bahiyyah (2/29) and al-Fataawa al-Fiqhiyyah al-Kubra (1/239).
Shaykh Ibn Jibreen was of the view that tawaaf during the Friday
khutbah is not allowed. He was asked: What is the ruling on residents
and travellers doing tawaaf when the khateeb is delivering thekhutbah
on Friday?
He replied: Once the khateeb begins his khutbah, the worshippers must
listen attentively to the khutbah and stay where they are, and it is
not permissible to busy oneself with something other than that, except
for one who comes in during the khutbah, who may pray two rak'ahs but
he should make them short, whether he is one of thepeople of Makkah or
not. The evidence that it is forbidden to move and speak during the
khutbah is general in meaning, to such an extent that the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "If you say to your
companion, 'Listen attentively' when the imam is delivering the
khutbah, then you have engaged in idle speech."Thus he warned against
asking someone to be quiet even though it is done for the right
reason. Based on this, we think that it is not permissible to do
tawaafat all so long as the imam is delivering the Friday khutbah. The
imams of old forbade doing tawaaf during thekhutbah, but the later
imams were more lenient and claimed that they could not prevent those
people who were doing tawaaf and those who gave the reason that they
were travellingand were bidding farewell to the Ka'bah inthis tawaaf,
or who think that tawaaf is superior to listening attentively to the
khutbah. But this is not correct, and we think that they should be
prevented until the Friday prayer is over. With regard to the Eid
khutbah, there is nothing wrong with doing tawaaf during thiskhutbah,
because it is sunnah, and the worshippers are not obliged to stay
until it ends.

Jumma Prayers - Jumu’ah prayer is not obligatory for women
Is Jumu'ah prayer obligatory for women too, or only for men? How
should a woman pray? I am a woman andI do not have any place in the
mosque. Can I pray Jumu'ah at home by myself? Will I attain the reward
for Jumu'ah?.
Praise be to Allaah.
The scholars are agreed that Jumu'ah prayer is not obligatory for
women, and that they may pray four rak'ahs of Zuhr in their homes.
Ibn al-Mundhir (may Allaah have mercy on him) says in al-Ijmaa' (no. 52):
They are unanimously agreed that Jumu'ah is not obligatory for women.
End quote.
The evidence for that is the hadeeth of Taariq ibn Shihaab (may Allaah
be pleased with him) according to which the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Jumu'ah is a duty that
isrequired of every Muslimin congregation, except four: a slave, a
woman, achild or one who is sick."Narrated by Abu Dawood 91067).
Al-Nawawi said in al-Majmoo' (4/482): its isnaad is saheeh according
to the conditions of the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhaari and Muslim). Ibn
Rajab said in Fath al-Baari (5/327): its isnaad is saheeh. Ibn Katheer
said in Irshaad al-Faqeeh (1/190): its isnaad is jayyid. It was also
classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami' (3111).
The reason why Jumu'ahis not obligatory for women is that
sharee'ahdoes not encourage women to attend places where men gather,
because of the negative consequences to which that may lead, as
happens nowadays in many workplaces where men and women mix. See also
Badaa'i' al-Sanaa'i' (1/258).
If a woman adheres to the shar'i conditions for her going out to the
mosque, such as not wearing adornments and perfume, then thereis
nothing wrong with her attending Jumu'ah prayers in the mosque and
praying two rak'ahs behind the imam, in which case she does not need
to pray Zuhr.
Ibn al-Mundhir (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Ijmaa' (no. 52, 53):
They are unanimously agreed that if women join the imam and pray with
him, that is sufficient for them. End quote.
Ibn Qudaamah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Mughni (2/88):
But if she prays Jumu'ah it is valid, because for women to pray in
congregation is valid, as the women used to pray with the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in congregation. End
quote.
With regard to praying Jumu'ah in the home on one's own, this is not
valid for either a man or a woman, because Jumu'ah prayer is only
valid when done in congregation, as stated in the hadeeth of the
Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) quoted above:
"Jumu'ah is a duty that is required of every Muslim in congregation."
If a group wanted to pray Jumu'ah in the house, this is also not
valid, because Jumu'ah prayer is prescribed in order for the Muslims
to gather together in one place for prayer and to listen to the
khutbah and benefit from it. Hence it is not permissible for there to
be numerous Jumu'ah prayers in one city unless there is a need
forthat, such as if the city is very large or there is no jaami'
mosque that can hold all the people.
Based on this, if you do not go to the mosque to pray Jumu'ah, then
you should pray Zuhr at home.
It says in Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa'imah (7/337):
If a woman prays Jumu'ah with the imam, that is sufficient and she
does not have to pray Zuhr; it is not permissible for her to pray Zuhr
that day. But ifshe prays on her own then she can only pray Zuhr, and
she cannot pray Jumu'ah. End quote.
It is better for a woman to pray Zuhr in her house, because of the
general meaning of the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him): "Donot prevent your womenfrom going to the
mosques, although their houses are better for them." Narrated by Abu
Dawood (567); classed assaheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.
If she wants to go to Jumu'ah, then she has toavoid perfume and
adornments, and not crowd together with men in the streets.
And Allaah knows best.

Jumma Prayers - The virtue of listening attentively to the Jumu’ah khutbah
Will a man be rewarded for listening attentively to the Jumu'ah khutbah?.
Praise be to Allaah.
Listening attentively to the khateeb on Friday is an obligation, and
it is not permissible for the Muslims to be careless about that and
fidget, talk or ignore the khutbah. The following ahaadeeth have been
narrated concerning the virtues of listening attentively to the
khutbah.
1 – Expiation for sins committed between this Friday and the previous Friday.
It was narrated from AbuHurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) said:
"Whoever does ghusl, then comes to Jumu'ah, and prays what is decreed
for him, then listens attentively until the khutbah is over, then
prays with him (theimam), will be forgiven (his sins) between that and
the next Jumu'ah, and three days more."
Narrated by Muslim (857); a similar report was narrated from Salmaan
al-Faarisi by al-Bukhaari (883).
2 – For every step he takes to the mosque, thereward of fasting and
praying qiyaam for one year will be recorded forhim.
It was narrated that Aws ibn Aws said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"Whoever washes his head and his body (ghusl) on Friday, then sets out
early, is present at the beginning of the khutbah and is close (to the
imam), then listens attentively, for every step he takes he will have
the reward of fasting and praying qiyaam for one year."
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (496) who said: it is a hasan hadeeth. It was
classed as saheeh by al-Bayhaqi in al-Sunan al-Kubra (3/227) and by
al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.
3 – The reward for praying Jumu'ah depends on listening attentively.
It was narrated from AbuHurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"If you say to your companion, 'Listen attentively' on a Friday, when
the imam is delivering the khutbah, then you have engaged in idle
speech."
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (934) and Muslim (851).
4 – The one who listens attentively will have twokafl of reward.
'Ali ibn Abi Taalib delivered a khutbah in Kufah and said in his khutbah:
If a man sits in a place where he can hear and see (the imam) and
listens attentively and does not engage in idle speech or fidgeting,
he will have two shares of reward. If he stays far away and sits in a
place where he cannot hear but he listens attentively and does not
engage in idle speech or fidgeting, he will have one share of reward.
If he sits in a place where he can hearand see but he engages in idle
speech or fidgets and does not listen attentively, then he will have
one share of sin."
And at the end of that hesaid: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say that.
Narrated by Abu Dawood (1051) and classed as da'eef (weak) by
al-Albaani. A similar report was narrated from Abu Umaamah in a
marfoo' report in al-Mu'jam al-Kabeer (8/165) and in a mursal report
from Yahya ibn Abi Katheer in Musannaf 'Abd al-Razzaaq (3/223).
