• The Messenger of Allaah said: "If a woman performs the five
(obligatory) prayers, fasts themonth (of Ramadhaan), maintains her
chastity and obeys her husband, (on the Day of Judgment) it will be
said to her, 'Enter Paradise from whichever gate you like'." [Ibn
Hibbaan] [Al-Albaani: Saheeh]
• The Messenger of Allaah said: "O company of women! Give charity even
from your ornaments, for you constitute the majority of the people of
Hell on the Day of Judgment." [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
• The Messenger of Allaah further said: "I advise you (O women) to
adhere to Tasbeeh (tosay 'Exalted be Allaah'), Tahleel (to say 'there
is none worthy of worship except Allaah'), and Taqdees (to say
'Exalted be (Allaah) The Sovereign, The Pure, Exalted and Pure be the
Lord of angels and Holy spirit'), and count with the help of your
fingers, for they will be questioned and made to speak (to give
witness to you), and be not heedless (of Thikr -- remembrance) lest
you would forget (to seek) mercy." [Abu Daawood and At-Tirmithi]
• It was narrated that the Messenger of Allaah asked a woman of the
Ansaar (Helpers) called Umm Sinaan: "What prevented you from
performing Hajj with us?" She replied, "There were only two camels
used for carrying water owned by so-and-so (meaning her husband). He
and his son offered Hajj on one, and the other was left to be usedfor
irrigation." He said (to her): "Then, 'Umrah (to be offered) in
Ramadhaan is equal (in reward) to Hajj or Hajj with me." [Muslim]
• The Messenger of Allaah said: "May Allaah have mercy upon a man who
stands at night and offers (supererogatory) prayers and then awakens
his wife to offer prayer, and if she refuses (to wake up), he
sprinkleswater on her face; and may Allaah have mercy upon a womanwho
stands at night and offers(supererogatory) prayers and awakens her
husband to offer prayer, and if he refuses, she sprinkles water on his
face." [Ahmad] [Al-Albaani: Saheeh]
• It was narrated on the authority of Umm Humayd, the wife of Abu
Humayd As-Saa'idi that she came to the Prophet and said, "'O Messenger
of Allaah! I like to offer prayers with you." He said: "I know that
you like to offer prayers with me; however, (you should know that)
your prayer in your sleeping place(inside your chamber) is better for
you than your prayer in your chamber; and your prayer in your chamber
is better for you than your prayer in your house; and your prayer in
your house is better for you than your prayer inthe mosque of your
people; and your prayer in the mosque of your people is better for you
thanyour prayer in my mosque." [Ahmad] [Al-Albaani: Saheeh]
• It was narrated on the authority of 'Aa'ishah that she said, "I
said, 'O Messenger of Allaah! We see that Jihaad (struggle) is the
best of deeds; should we not engage in Jihaad?' He said, "For you
(women), the best act of Jihaad is to perform Hajj that is accepted
(by Allaah)." [Al-Bukhaari]
• It was said to the Prophet "'O Messenger of Allaah! Such-and-such a
woman prays at night, fasts by day, does such-and-such good deeds and
gives charity. However, she harmsher neighbors with her tongue.' On
that the Messenger of Allaah said: "There is no good in her.She is
from the people of Hell." They further said, "And such-and-such a
woman performs only the (obligatory five) written prayers, and gives
only yogurt as charity. However, she harms no one." On that the
Messenger of Allaah said: "She is from the inhabitants of Paradise."
[Al-Bukhaari: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad] [Al-Albaani: Saheeh]
• The Messenger of Allaah said: "By the One in whose hand the soul of
Muhammad is! A woman will not fulfill the right ofher Lord (perfectly)
unless she fulfills the right of her husband fully; and if her husband
asks her to have sexual intercourse while sitting on the back of a
camel, she should not prevent him (fromdoing so)." [Ibn Maajah]
[Al-Albaani: Hasan]
• The Prophet said: "If a woman spends (gives charity) from the
foodstuff of her house but not wastefully, she will have a reward for
what she spent, her husband will have a reward for what he earned, and
the storekeeper the like of that, without reducing anything from the
reward of each other." [Al-Bukhaari]
• It was narrated on the authority of Al-Husayn ibn Mihsanthat one of
his paternal aunts came to the Messenger of Allaah for a particular
need, and when she finished her need the Prophet said to her: "Do you
have a husband?" She answered in the affirmative. He asked: "Howare
you with him?" She said, "I am never negligent in fulfilling his right
except when I am incapable." On that, he said: "Then, regard your
position with him for he either leads you to Paradise or to Hell."
[Ahmad and Al-Haakim] [Al-Haakim and Ath-Thahabi: Saheeh]
• The Messenger of Allaah said: "No trouble, fatigue, anxiety,
sadness, harm or distress befalls a Muslim, even a prick that he
receives from a thorn, but that for which Allaah forgives some of his
sins." [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
O Muslim sister, remember this Hadeeth (narration), and hope forthe
reward from Allaah The Almighty for whatever difficultiesand troubles
you meet in your life, like pregnancy, post-partum bleeding, suckling,
raising children, menstruation, and so on, perchance your scale of
good deeds will be heavy, your sins willbe forgiven, and your rank
will beelevated high in Paradise.

Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Priceless Gems: Advice forWomen from the Prophet
The traps of Satan for women on the Webhttp://aydnajimudeen.wordpress.com/
The Internet remains the first ever outlet for advocates of true
causes and meritorious values, soas to disseminate their knowledge,
manners and benefits, at a time when the global media is mostly
dominated by evil.
Naturally, though, the Web houses religious, intellectual and didactic
trends from all over the world. No distinction is made in terms of
available opportunities, except in accordance with [Internet users']
personal efforts, drive and financial capability.
Therefore, righteous scholars, students and male and female callers to
Islam have set out to utilize the Internet. As such, they seek and
propagate knowledge, and invite others to Islam through it, hoping for
reward from Allaah The Almighty. On their part, righteous women
havemade great contributions, which are collectively appreciated.
However, humans will be humansand they have innate dispositionsand
tendencies that cannot be altered, except with strenuous efforts and a
constant struggle. [In light of this, we will mention] one of the
major obstacles and greatest risks to the process of Da'wah (call to
Islam), which threatens to destroy all the hard work done for Islam
and [its] knowledge, perhaps even giving rise to a moral degeneration.
Thisis [the danger of] men and women, as two sexes with inherent
mutual attraction, having the chance to form relationships with one
another. Boys will be boys, and girls will be girls, regardless of
their honest tendencies and sound intentions.
Therefore, when the Quran commanded the wives of the Prophet against
softening their speech, so that corrupt-hearted men would not covet
them, it was not [a manifestationof] an intellectual siege imposed on
women. These were the most righteous ladies in the world being given a
warning not to arouse the desires of men who were forerunners [in
faith] and who lived at the time of the Prophet . What, then, should
the situation be with women of these times, even if they are virtuous
callers to Islam and righteous seekers of knowledge?
Any woman who claims that she is saved from temptation is,
regrettably, deluded and conceited. Sadly, the real world records
poignant incidents arising from relations that started off innocently
and in the service of Da'wah, ending only in a calamity that would
make one shudder to even write about.
This takes place even as one [onlywants to] establish chaste and
brotherly relationships and simply under the umbrella of cooperation
in righteousness andpiety. The following are examplesof Satanic ways
to [mislead] women working online in the field of Da'wah and for
Islam.
The first way:
Women become members on forums or accept work as a moderator, with men
they do notknow or have even heard of before. Some website owners
offer girls the task of supervising or administering their message
boards, and exchange phone numbers and e-mail addresses with them, for
the purpose of getting the job done.
Now, people usually have good intentions, but, with time, each party
develops the courage to converse with the other about things outside
the framework of the mission of Da'wah. They speak about personal
matters and may end up in the inevitable – a relationship.
The second way:
Some religious women browse websites and forums, where members are of
both sexes. A subject may pique their interest and they may want to
add a comment. Since that action is notallowed unless one provides an
email address, she does so and then makes her point. Thereafter,Satan
may make the one in charge of the forum think it is a good idea to
encourage that serious commenter. Thus, he maysend a gracious note to
the woman, passing on nice words, cordial sentiments and a special
offer for her to be an active member or a moderator of a sub-forum.
Over time, the connection between them develops, until they end up in
that notorious position [of a relationship].
The compliment may be sent by the male member directly to the woman's
e-mail address or [on the forum, in reply] to her comment on the
subject. Over time, unfavorable events tend to take place.
The third way:
A woman who is relatively committed to her faith may register [on a
forum] with an anonymous or male-sounding username. Then, she may get
acquainted with a member posing as a female; due to the latter's
shrewdness and guile, the former may actually strongly believe the
other to be a woman and seek advice, guidance and religious rulings.
Afterwards, the one [posing as a female] may ask to meet with the
woman, hosting her at home. She may accept the invitation, after
revealing her true female identity, when trust has been built between
her and her alleged female friend; but, it turns out to be a guy and a
horrible crisis takes place!
The fourth way:
Some devout women may seek religious edicts or counseling from people
who pretend to be scholars or have experience in parenting, for
example, to attracttheir victims. These ladies would vent to them,
about their concerns, personal problems and family conditions. The
alleged scholar or parenting expert may gradually persuade the woman
to tell him about her most private matters, in order for him to
prescribe a successful solution, grant her an appropriate ruling and
hold a proper consultation. When people like him achieve what they
aimed for and are privyto the secrets they desired to know about the
women, they blackmail them with that information. Thus, sins are
committed and virtue is violated.
The fifth way:
Similar to the aforementioned situation, a Muslim woman may fall
victim to some who claim to interpret dreams; such people are
noticeably increasing by the day. Therefore, what is to say some of
them would not tamper with the interpretation of certainvisions, as
long as it attracts clients, earns them fame and inducts them in to
the ranks of noble and meritorious figures? But, this causes many
women to become easy marks for dream interpreters, who deceptively
use[their request for] dream analysisto trap those among them who are
weak, in terms of personality, intellect and faith.
Please do not understand from these examples that we are generalizing
in our judgments, exaggerating in our sayings or speculating regarding
unseen matters. Reality witnesses the veracity of what we state and
draws attention to its danger.
Hence, we should not trust all people without distinction, no matter
how they appear.
Hadeeth experts from among therighteous predecessors would investigate
and scrutinize the characters and lives of narrators, so as to
distinguish whose reports can be accepted as authentic transmissions
from theProphet . This is despite the fact that many narrators of
Hadeeth were actually religious and observed acts of worship. Yet,
this was done to ensure the soundness of the traditions of the Prophet
and based on knowledge of much fabricated input interposed by many
fibbers and liars.
Hence, if people in ancient times lied about the Prophet and made up
Hadeeths that he never said, could not some deceitful people [today]
give false dream interpretations?
The sixth way:
Chat rooms are among the most dangerous and wicked innovations of
those who seek corruption and violation of honor; they are venues for
the breakdown of virtue and annihilation of modesty.
How many times has morality been breached in those rooms! Moreover,
how often have they paved the way for unlawful intimacy!
Tempted by Satan, some righteous girls enter chat rooms, at times, out
of curiosity and sometimes, to explore the unknown and do Da'wah! They
choose a made-up name and log onto these rooms of indecency and
immorality. There, they comeacross very obscene words, and for the
sake of reform and giving advice, these poor women tolerate that
atmosphere of idiocy and impudence.
They chastely send out [words of]admonition and reminders, but quickly
fall, themselves, into the face of immodest expressions that violate
virtue. Time after time, the woman thus surrendersto her desire and
slips into shameful sin.
Finally, I say again that I neither generalize in my judgments nor
exaggerate in what I say. I am just protective of Muslim women and
sisters, in terms of their faithand creed.
O Allaah The Almighty, preserve our religion for us.

- Other Signs
The Prophet (saas) has given a great deal of information about both
the age in which he lived and the future of the Islamic world, and asa
miracle from our Lord these have all come true. Many of the reports
given by the Prophet Muhammad (saas) about the future of the Islamic
world concern the End Times. Some of the events he spoke of and which
we are witnessingcoming about in our own time are increased
earthquakes, drought, extraordinary celestial phenomena, great wars, a
rise in anarchy and chaos, reduced security, and uprisings. Our
Prophet (saas) tells us that in the End Times Muslims and believers
will suffer various difficulties, but that afterthat period, with the
second coming of Prophet 'Isa (as) and the appearance of the Mahdi, an
age of light will be experienced. The Prophet (saas) has supplied many
details of the portents prior to the coming of Prophet 'Isa (as) and
the Mahdi and has described the joys tobe experienced when these
blessed individualsappear.
The hadiths supply manysigns of the appearance of the Dajjal and
events that will take place at that time. Some of these, which are in
all likelihood taking place in our day are:
Cloud Seeding
As an-Nawwas ibn Sam'an reported, the Prophet (saas) said:
"He would then give command to the sky and there would be rainfall
upon the earth ..."
(Sahih Muslim, Book 041,Number 7015)
It is reported in the above hadith that in the End Times there will be
means of causing rainfallwhen so desired. These methods are actually
employed today. The technique known as cloud seeding is applied as
follows:
"Seeding of clouds requires that they contain supercooled liquid
water—that is, liquid water colder than zero degrees Celsius.
Introduction of a substance such as silver iodide, which has a
crystalline structure similar to that of ice, willinduce freezing
(heterogeneous nucleation). Dry ice [frozen carbon dioxide] or propane
expansion cools the air to such an extent that ice crystals can
nucleate spontaneously from the vapor phase. ... In mid-latitude
clouds, the usual seeding strategy has been predicated upon the fact
that the equilibrium vapor pressure is lower over water than over ice.
When ice particles form in supercooled clouds, this fact allows the
ice particles to grow at the expense of liquid droplets. If there is
sufficient growth, the particles become heavy enough to fall as snow
(or, if melting occurs, rain) from clouds that otherwise would produce
no precipitation. This process is known as"static" seeding. Seedingof
warm-season or tropical cumuliform (convective) clouds seeksto exploit
the latent heatreleased by freezing. This strategy of"dynamic" seeding
assumes that the additional latent heat adds buoyancy, strengthens
updrafts, ensures more low-level convergence, and ultimately causes
rapid growth of properly selected clouds. Cloud seeding chemicals may
be dispersed by aircraft or by dispersion devices located on the
ground (generators)." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_seeding)
One place in which this technique is often employed is Kansas. The
National Geographic website provides the following information on the
subject:
"In Kansas, clouds sometimes promise rain and fail to deliver—or
produce crop-damaging hail. To coax moisture from the clouds, the
Western Kansas WeatherModification Program sends out its planes.
Wing-borne burners produce a silver iodide smoke, which rides updrafts
into the sub-zero heart of certainstorm clouds. At that altitude, the
silver iodideparticles provide nuclei around which cloud water can
freeze. When they're heavy enough, the grains of ice fall—melting into
rain on the way down. In theory, the strategy not only increases
rainfall but also keeps moisture from being swept high into clouds and
forming hail. …"

state of Kansas.
(Source: National Geographic web site)
The rain bomb is a technology that has been developed over thelast 60
years. Today, some 24 countries, including the USA, Israel, Canada,
Russia, Thailand,Morocco and Australia employ the technique to
increase rainfall. (http://www.aksam.com.tr/haber.asp?a=77081,10) The
pictures below show the silver iodine and some of the cloud seeding
devices employed today:

Increase in Milk Production
The events that we are told will take place in the End Times in those
hadiths of the Prophet (saas) that have come down to the present
dayhave taken place in our own time by means of advances in
technology. One of the events reported in the hadiths as a portent of
the appearance of the Dajjal is an increase in milk yield. The
progress that has been in livestock rearing in our time has given rise
to this increase in yield reported in the hadith. And Allah knows
best.
An-Nawwas ibn Sam'an reported that the Prophet (saas) said:
"He would come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion) and
they would affirm their faith in him and respond to him. He would then
give command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and
it would grow crops. Then in the evening, their posturing animals
wouldcome to them with their humps very high and their udders full of
milk and their flanks stretched."
(Sahih Muslim, Book 041,Number 7015)
The artificial insemination of the animal population, embryo transfer
and the raising of animal quality by means of high productivity stock,
which began being implemented only recently in our own time, have led
to a huge rise in milk production in all countries, particularly
Holland and Belgium. In Holland, for example, the daily average milk
yield from a single cow has risen to 35 liters. Some cows are even
known to produce as much as 53 liters.
The Treasure Detector
The hadiths describing the End Times also tell usof many portents,
together with a variety of other information and developments. One of
these is a hadith describing the emergence and attributes of the
Dajjal. This hadith tells of treasure hidden beneatha building as the
Dajjal passes by it:
"He would then walk through the waste land and say to it: Bring forth
your treasures, and the treasures would come out…" (Sahih Muslim, Book
041, Number 7015; reported by an-Nawwas ibn Sam'an)
As we know, detectors that can find metals under the ground and that
are capable of distinguishing between metallic and non-metallic
compoundsare in wide use today. Thanks to these, it can immediately be
established whether or not there is any metal buried beneath a
building or under the ground. These detectors, which make it easy to
find buried metals such as gold, silver, copper and bronze, are
frequently employed in engineering, construction and by the military,
and by others for treasure hunting.
The above hadith may well be referring to the use of such a device.
That would explain the detection of treasure beneath the building and
its subsequent extraction. And Allah knows best.
Trawl Nets
One of his (Dajjal's) astonishing deeds is this:He will enter the sea
three times a day; one ofhis arms is long. With hislong arm he will
lean on the bottom of the sea, and with his other hand he will sweep
up and catch what he wishes from among the fishes inthe deeps...
(Reported byAbu Nuaym [ra]). (Signs of Qiyamah, 10th edition, p. 216)
It is indicated in the hadiths of the Prophet (saas) that in the End
Times Dajjal will "reach down the bottom of the sea and catch the
fishes of the deeps." The "trawlnets" used today in catching fish
fully match this description given in the hadith. And Allah knows
best.
Fishing with trawl nets isalso known as "multi-species fishery"
because a large number of species are caught at thesame time. Trawl
nets, a kind of drag net, are used in seabed and mid-water fishing.
Thesenets, which scour the seabed with steel cables, trap all the fish
they encounter.
Trawl nets , resemble large, cone-shaped, wide-mouthed (30 meters or
so wide) bags. Wooden struts are used to keep the mouth open when the
net is first cast into the sea. These are connected to the trawlerboat
by steel cables. Bottom trawling is generally used in places where the
seabed is largely flat. Dropped from the trawler boat, the trawl net
is dragged along behind it for some1.5 to 3 hours and scoursthe
seabed, catching all the fish it encounters. It is then raised using a
winch and the fish inside unloaded on deck. Once the fish have been
cleaned and washed, they are packedin ice in the ship's hold. On some
very large and highly advanced trawlers, the fish are loaded into
freezing apparatus once they have been cleaned. These boats are able
to remain at sea and therefore fish for more prolonged periods.
Greater Life Expectancy
Our Prophet (saws) has provided considerable information about the
period in which he lived and also the future of the Islamic world, and
allhis reports have turned out to be true, as a miracle from Allah. A
large part of what the Prophet Muhammed (saws) tells us about the
future of the Islamic world concerns phenomena to do with the End
Times. Accounts given by our Prophet (saws) and that have been
witnessed to come true in our own day are that there will be an
increase in earthquakes during the End Times, that there will be
drought, that extraordinary phenomena will be observed in the skies,
that there will be great wars, an increase in chaos and anarchy, a
decline in security and also revolutions.
Our Prophet (saws) has told us that Muslims and believers will be
subjected to various difficulties in the End Times, that the Prophet
'Isa (as) will return to Earth in the wake of this troubled time, and
that with the appearance of the Mahdi all believers can expect an age
of felicity. Our Prophet (saws) has also provided detailed
descriptions of the signs that will be seen before the coming of the
Prophet 'Isa (as) and the Mahdi, as well asof the joys that the coming
of these holy personages will bring.
As reported in the hadith, one of the portents of the End Times and
the appearance of the blessed Mahdi is "increased life expectancy"
during this holy period. Some of thehadith and accounts regarding this
are as follows:
Life expectancy will increase in his (the Mahdi's) time. This
increased life expectancy also means that he (the Mahdi) will be
long-lived. (p. 184)
In his time (the blessed Mahdi's) ... Life spans will grow longer ...
(Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi'alamat al-Mahdi al-Muntazar, p. 43)
Life spans will grow longer...
(Al-Suyuti, Portents of Doomsday, Death and Resurrection, p. 1699, p. 179)
There has been a relative increase in life expectancy in recent times,
but none to matchthe increase observed in the 21st century. Research
has revealed that human life expectancy will rise by 50% this century
and that there will be many more people living to see their 100th
birthdaysin the years to come.
Increases in life expectancy
1800s: average life expectancy 24
1900s: average life expectancy 48
2000s: average life expectancy 63
The results of research into genetics and gene technology at the end
ofthe 20th and early 21st centuries show that "life expectancies will
be prolonged." For example, a report in National Geographic magazine
stated that theformula needed for a longer and healthier life would
soon be available in pharmacies. Scientists who say they have
identified the gene for long life state that the average life may soon
bearound 100 years. Another study reports that children born around
now will live to be approximately 125 or 150. Many researchers state
that "there will be nothing out of the ordinary in people aged 150"
and that in the 21stcentury life expectancieswill increased beyond
allcomparison with the past.
The fact this phenomenon, imparted by our Prophet 1400 years or so
ago, coming about so clearly and manifestly without doubt represents
very glad tidings for believers. Just like this prediction, the other
reports imparted by our Prophet (saws) will also all come true, and
mankind will witness many holy phenomena during the 21st century. By
the will of Allah, the Prophet 'Isa (as) will return to Earth, the
blessed Mahdi will appear, and by means ofthese holy personages the
moral values of Islam will prevail across the entire world. This is
something promised in the pages of the Qur'an. In verse 55 of Surat
an-Nur, our Lord tells us: "Allah has promised those of you who have
faith and do right actions that He will makethem successors in the
land as He made those before them successors, and will firmly
establish for them their religion with which He is pleasedand give
them, in place of their fear, security.

Turkish daily Radikal, 21 April 2002
… The 'Industrial revolution' in the late 19th century and scientific
advances led toextraordinary progress in the field of medicine in the
last century. This has prolonged human life expectancy by 50% …The
frontiers of middle age have been put back from 40-50 to 60-70. As we
enter the new millennium it has emerged that certain diseases are
caused by defects in genes, themselves the secret of life.
Biotechnological progress is now at the point of being able to rectify
gene defects.

large part of what the Prophet Muhammed (saws) tells us about the

of felicity.

The Sacred Relics
When the caliphate passed to the Ottoman Empire, the sacred
relics, consisting of items belonging to the Prophet Muhammad (saas)
and his followers were brought to Istanbul. Since 1517, the relics
have been kept with the great care in the "Hırka-i Saadet" section of
Topkapi Palace in Istanbul.
These sacred objects are preserved in a special chamber constructed
within Topkapı Palace by Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror. With its finely
worked inlaid door, four windows and three recessed cases, thischamber
is one of the finest examples of Ottoman art.
Some of the sacred relics, which have been preserved with the utmost
care, are as follows:
The Blessed Mantle
The mantle given by the Prophet Muhammad (saas) to Veysel Karani is
regarded as the most important of the sacred relics. Some of the
Ottoman caliphs were accompanied by the Blessed Mantle on their
travels.
The Blessed Mantle has recently been restored with the very greatest care.
The Holy Tooth of the Prophet Muhammad (saas)
Part of a tooth belonging to the Prophet Muhammad (saas) that was
broken during the Battle of Uhud. It is kept in a cylindrical box,
framed in gold and covered in rubies and emeralds.
The Holy Banner
The banner of the Prophet Muhammad (saas), made from almostentirely
black woolen cloth. Due to its fragile state, it was placed on top of
a green fabric. It has never been opened in any battle since the time
of our Prophet (saas).
The Holy Hair from the Beard of the Prophet Muhammad (saas)
Several hairs from the beard of our Prophet (saas) are kept in the
Hırka-i Saadet section. These are preserved in gold-framed glass boxes
and jewel cases.
The Holy Footprints
Four footprints belonging to the Prophet Muhammad (saas) are preserved
in a recessed case in the Hırka-i Saadet section.
The Holy Seal
The seal of the Prophet Muhammad (saas), which was also was used by
the early caliphs.
The Holy Letters
The letters belonging to the Prophet Muhammad (saas). A Frenchman
discovered them in 1850 inside the cover of a Gospel in the library of
a monastery in Egypt. Onceit was established that it had belonged to
our Prophet (saas), it was given to Sultan Abdulmajid.
The Holy Swords
The swords of the Prophet Muhammad (saas). Only two of the swords in
the Hırka-i Saadet section belongedto the Prophet Muhammad (saas). One
of these belonged to theProphet David (pbuh) and the other to the
people of the Prophet Muhammad (saas).
The Keys of the Kaaba
The replaced keys of the Kaaba are also among the sacred relics. Made
of iron and covered in silver and gold inlay, they were for a long
time preserved in DavutpaÅŸa during the time of the Ottoman Empire.
The Holy Qur'an of Hazrat Uthman (ra)
Pages of the Qur'an collected during the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra),
were sent to provinces in book form during the time of Hazrat Uthman
(ra). The Qur'an that was being read when Hazrat Uthman (ra) was
martyred is now among the sacred relics in Topkapı Palace.
These sacred relics have been protected and preserved with the utmost
care since Ottoman times.
One example of the importance the Ottoman sultans attached to the
sacred relics is the ceremony performed by the sultan for them on the
15th day of every month of Ramadan. As the day approached, the chest
containing the long wide sleeved mantle of the Prophet Muhammad
(saas) was carried to the Revan section, every part of which was
cleansed, the walls washed with rose water and perfumed with musk.
The Qur'an has been recited in the Hırka-i Saadet chamber in
veneration of the relics of the Prophet Muhammad (saas) for hundreds
of years. This fine tradition was initiated by Sultan Selim the Stern.
Forty scholars who had memorized theQur'an, including Sultan Selim,
recited the Qur'an beside the sacred relics, "for the victory of good
and the expulsion of affliction." This tradition was restored in
October 1996.
One of the reasons for the great care shown by the Ottoman sultans is
that they knew they were merely guardians of these sacred relics, and
that they really belong to Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), who will emergefrom
Istanbul.
Our Prophet (saas) describes in great detail in the hadiths how Hazrat
Mahdi (pbuh) willappear together with the sacred relics. For example,
one hadith tellsus that:
Nuaym bin Hammad related from Abu Jaferi that; "Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh)
will appear in theevening together with the banner, mantle, sword,
signs, radiance and beauty of our Prophet (saas)."
Another hadith describeshow Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will appear with the
sacred relics as follows:
As for the signs, he (Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh)) will have the mantle, sword
and banner of theMessenger of Allah. That banner that has never been
unfurled since the death of the Prophet (saas), and will never be
opened until the comingof Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh).
Out of respect for our Prophet (saas), no state, including the Ottoman
Empire, has ever unfurled the banner although it was carried in
battles and ceremonies. The banner, and other blessed relics that have
thus been preserved for 1,400 years, will be unfurled when the moral
values of Islam rule the world with the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh),
