Here is another story about Sultan Mahmud ofAfghanistan and his
servant, Ayyaz. Sultan Mahmud would respect Ayyaz for his wisdom even
though he was a servant. This made the ministers and other people of
high positions very jealous of Ayyaz. They talked wrong against him
and started a rumour that Ayyaz wasnothing but a fool. The king came
to know of this and he decided to prove to them who werethe real
fools. An announcement was made to all the people that the King will
distribute his belongingson a particular date. Whatever a person touch
will become his onthat day. When the day came, many people appeared by
the king's palace. The king made his announcement againthat a person
can have whatever he touches. The door was opened and everyone ran to
touch whatever was of value in the palace. Some touched jewelery of
gold while others touched fancy furnitures, etc. But Ayyazwas just
standing by the king and was not touching anything. People thought
that Ayyaz was crazy as he wasn't taking advantageof this great event.
Now,Ayyaz asked the king if the announcement he made was certain. The
king said "Yes, whatever you touch is yours." Immediately, Ayyaz
placed his right hand on the king's head and the left hand on his
shoulder. He then shouted, "Listen everyone. I was waiting for this
moment to aquire the most expensive thing. All of you took whatever
the king possessed, but you forgot about the owner of all these, which
is the king himself. I hereby declare that my hands are on the king,
so the king is mine. You cannot remove one thing from this palace
because I am the owner of all these now." After hearing this from
Ayyaz, everyone realized that actually, Ayyaz is the only smart one
and everyone else was in error.
Today people are only running after the creations but, very few are
running towards theCreator Himself. If Allah, the King of all kings,
becomes our Friend thenwhat else do we need?

*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -*
-
Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

The smart thing to do
The Miraculous Goat
Once there lived a very pious elderly lady namedFiddah. She was kind
and generous and always remembered Allah (SWT). One day Shaikh
Abu-ar-Rabie (RA)went to her village. He had been told that she had a
goat that gave both milk and honey. He bought a new bowl and went to
see the goat. When he got there, he was shown the goat andhe milked
it. Sure enough, sweet white milk came gushing out. Shaikh
Abu-ar-Rabie (RA)drank to his fill and thenhe asked they got the goat.
She narrated to him an amazing story.
She said, "There was a time when we were verypoor and had nothing but
a she-goat. When Eid-ul-Adha came around, my husband suggested that we
sacrifice the goat and have a feast. The she-goat was our only means
of sustenance so Ireminded my husband that Allah has not made it
necessary for us to sacrifice an animal under such circumstances.
Therefore, we spared the goat till the next Eid-ul-Adha. As chance
would have it, we had a guest on that very same day. Since Allah has
commanded us to entertain our guests, I asked my husband if he would
now slaughter the animal and I would cook its meat for our guests. My
husband tookthe goat outside behind a wall, lest the children should
cry on seeing it killed. A little while later another goat appeared
bearing an exact resemblance to our own.By Allah! This was a blessing.
A miraculous she-goat that yields bothmilk and honey was sentdown to
us as recompense for feeding our guests."
Lady Fiddah often reminded her children that the goat feeds on what
grows in their hearts. "So long as your hearts continue to be noble
and un-tarnished by evil, its milk will remain good and sweet, but as
soon as your hearts become false, its milk will also turn bad. Guard
your hearts against evil and Allah SWT will make everything beneficial
foryou."

Accountable for Our Blessings
I'm still in Vancouver for a martial arts seminar, and it's so
beautiful here.Mountains, rivers, trees, beaches, shining buildings,
and perfect weather. When Allah has given a people so much, they will
be accountable for what they did with their blessings.
Are we doing what we should with our blessings? Are we grateful? Do we
share? Do we proclaim the truth? Are we fulfilling our potentials?
If not, then there is no better time to begin thanright now, this
moment. Choose one small way to be a better Muslim, and implement it
in your life today. That's how it starts. The road to Jannahbegins
with the first step.

Get Up and Do Your Thing
Life has been challenginglately. In July I've faced some financial
setbacks, and also some personal setbacks that have hit mehard, and
drained me emotionally to the point where sometimes I just sit in my
padded computer chair and don'tfeel like getting up. I feel like I
hardly have the energy to get up and prepare some food to eat, let
alone pray, work, go to class, care for my daughter…
And yet I do get up. I go out and teach a 2.5 hour martial arts class
and I doit with vigor, because my students are looking to me for
guidance and inspiration. I get up and do my volunteer job at the
Muslim community center. I get up and take my daughter to the lake or
the masjid, and have atea party with her, and read her the latest
chapter of "Fish Face". I laugh with her and love her with everything
I've got, because she needs me. I don't have time for self-pity.
I get up and do my thing, because that's what it is to be a man (or
woman), to be a father (or mother), to be a Muslim, to be a friend, to
be alive! You get up and do what you have to do. Youpick your foot up
and take a step, then lift the other one and take another step, and
before you know it you are moving ahead, and time has passed and your
problems have diminished and don't hurt quite so much, or maybe you
have overcome them entirely, because you are experiencing the joy of
life. Your love for Allah, and your gratitude, and your attentiveness
to the beauty and blessings around you, all wash the pain away like a
river.
That's what it is to be alive. SubhanAllah.
So, to all those reading this now, I send you light and love, and I
know thatno matter what physical or emotional aches you are
experiencing, you will rise each morning with gratitude, you will take
a step and move ahead, you will love and laugh, you will push
self-pity to the side and live your lives with commitment, in the
shorttime that we all have on this beautiful ball of brown and blue.
One last note: Eat healthyfoods, drink water and – very important –
get enough sleep. These are all critical to maintaining an emotional
balance and moving forward in life with a positive attitude.
