*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Engagment, - Dought & clear, - * She received a proposal from an engineer who works in a bank – should she accept?

A newly graduated architectural engineer proposed marriage to me, but he works in the engineering administration department of a bank that specializes in building apartments and luxury buildings. Should I accept or refuse?.
-
Praise be to Allaah.
A woman should be keen to choose a righteous husband who will fear Allaah with regard to her and will feed her and her children with halaal income and help them to avoid that which is haraam.
Hence we appreciate this question from you, as it indicates that you are concerned about this matter. We say: if the bank where this person works is a riba-based bank which markets and sells its apartments and buildings on the basis of riba, then it is not permissible to work there, or to help it with its projects in any way whatsoever.
Similarly, it is not permissible to work in building apartments or places for sin, such as leisure venues, places for gambling, riba based banks and the like.
It is on this basis that this suitor should be accepted or rejected. If his work is permissible and he is religiously committed and of good character, then accept him. But if his work is haraam or he is not religiously committed and of good character, then do not accept him, because marrying him will result in harm that will affect you and your children.
We ask Allaah for guidance.
And Allaah knows best.

Engagment, - Dought & clear, - * She rejected his proposal; should he try again?

After putting my trust in Allaah and seeking His help and praying istkhaarah, I proposed marriage to a girl but was refused because this girl is studying. Please note that I am attracted to her and I am always thinking of her. I felt more attracted to her after praying istikhaarah, because I felt at peace. My mother says that we will try to approach her again, but I am hesitant because I feel that proposing to her again will be embarrassing for my family. Should I propose to her or not? I hope that you – after Allaah – can help me find a solution.
-
Praise be to Allaah.
If the girl is religiously-committed and of good character, there is nothing wrong with trying again. If that can be done via some intermediaries, that is better, so as to avoid embarrassment to your family. But in fact we do not advise you to do that at present. If her studies are going to end soon and you can wait for that amount of time, then the intermediary can explain that, unless there is some other reason for the refusal which they did not explain.
Whatever the case, you should delegate the matter to Allaah, for no one knows what is good for him. Stop thinking and feeling attracted to her, and ask Allaah to show you what is good wherever it is. Open your mind to accepting both possibilities. If they agree, then hope that this is good and will help you in obeying Allaah, and if they refuse, then perhaps Allaah has diverted from you or from her something that would not be good, and has prepared for both of you that which is better for you.
“and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allaah knows but you do not know”
[al-Baqarah 2:216]
The believer has enough concerns, aims and deeds that should divert him from feeling attached to a girl, no matter who she is. We ask Allaah to distract us and you with acts of obedience to Him.
And Allaah knows best.

Da'eef (weak) hadeeths, Dought & clear, - * Hadeeth on Encouragement to Read

How sound is the following hadeeth: "A man reading is handsome in the sight of God; so learn to read and when you have learnt, teach".
-
Praise be to Allah.
Perhaps the hadeeth referred to in the question is that which was narrated by ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), and says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best of you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it.” Narrated by al-Bukhari (5027).
There is a great deal of encouragement to learn to read the Quran, both in the Quran and the Sunnah. There is also encouragement to learn how to read. The Holy Quran is the only book that the Muslims read at the beginning of Islam, so learning to read and write started with learning the Holy Quran. Indeed the command to learn to read came with the first word of the Revelation that came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when Allah said (interpretation of the meaning):
“Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists).
He has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous.
Who has taught (the writing) by the pen.
He has taught man that which he knew not.”
[al-‘Alaq 96:1-5]
Knowledge spread and ignorance decreased as the result of learning to read and write the Quran and understand its meanings.
But if what is meant is another hadeeth in which it says that Allah loves those who learn to read in general, then we could not find this wording in any of the books of Sunnah.
And Allah knows best.
