1]* Protection from Jinns

1]* *The protection which will prevent the evil of the jinn is for a
person to recite that which is narrated in the Sunnah as being
effective in providing protection, suchas Aayat al-Kurisy, for if a
person recites Aayat al-Kursiy at night, he will continue to have
protection from Allaah, and no shaytaan will come near him until
morning. And Allaah is theProtector.'"
(Majmoo' Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen, 1/287-288)
The Sunnah mentions adhkhaar (dhikr) by means of which one may gain
protection from the shayaateen (devils). Theseinclude:
Seeking refuge with Allaah from the jinn:
Allaah says (interpretationof the meaning):
"And if an evil whisper from Shaytaan (Satan) tries to turn you away
(O Muhammad) (from doing good), then seek refuge inAllaah. Verily, He
is the All Hearer, the All Knower"[Fussilat 41:36]
"And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaytaan (Satan), then seek
refuge with Allaah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower"
[al-A'raaf 7:200]
It was narrated from Sulaymaan ibn Sard that two men were trading
insults in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon them), until the faceof one of them turned red. The Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, "I know a word
which, if he were to say it, what he is sufferingfrom would go away:
'A'oodhu Billaahi min al-Shaytaan il-rajeem (I seek refuge with Allaah
from the accursed Shaytaan).'"
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3108; Muslim, 2610)
2 - Reciting al-Mi'wadhatayn (the last two Soorahs of the Qur'aan,
al-Falaq and al-Naas).
It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with
him) said: "The Messengerof Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) used to seek refuge with Allaah from the jinn and from the
evil eye until the Mi'wadhatayn were revealed, and when they were
revealed he started to recite them and not anything else."
(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2058; he said it is hasan ghareeb. Also
narrated by al-Nasaa'i, 5494; Ibn Maajah, 3511. The hadeeth was
classed as saheeh by al-Albaani (mayAllaah have mercy on him) in
Saheeh al-Jaami', 4905).
3 - Reciting Aayat al-Kursiy
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: "The Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) put me in charge of
guarding the zakaah of Ramadaan. Someone came to me andstarted
grabbing handfulsof the food. I took hold of him and said, 'I will
take you to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him).' He said, 'I will teach you some words by means of which
Allaah will benefit you.' I said, 'What are they?' He said, 'When you
go to your bed, recite this aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
"Allaah! Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none hasthe right to be worshipped but
He), Al-Hayyul-Qayyoom (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and
protects all that exists)..." [al-Baqarah 2:255] - until he completed
the aayah. Then Allaah will appoint aguard for you who will stay with
you and no shaytaan (devil) will comenear you until morning.' The
Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked
me, 'What did your prisoner do last night?' I said, 'O Messenger of
Allaah, he taught me something, and claimed that Allaah would benefit
me by it.' He said, 'What was it?' I said, 'He taught me to recite
Aayat al-Kursiy when I go to bed, and said that no shaytaan would come
near me until morning, and that Allaah would appoint a guard for me
who would stay with me.'The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) said, 'He told you the truth, although he is an inveterate
liar. That was the Shaytaan.'"
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3101)
4 - Reciting Soorat al-Baqarah
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:"Do not make your houses
like graves, for theShaytaan runs away from a house in which Soorat
al-Baqarah is recited."(Narrated by Muslim, 780)
5 - The last verses of Soorat al-Baqarah
It was narrated that Abu Mas'ood al-Ansaari said:"The Messenger of
Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: 'Whoever
recites the last two verses of Soorat al-Baqarah at night, that will
suffice him.'" (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4723; Muslim, 807)
It was narrated from al-Nu'maan ibn Basheer (may Allaah be pleased
with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
said: "Allaah inscribed a book two thousand years before He created
the heavens and the earth, from which the last two aayahs of Soorat
al-Baqarah were revealed.If they are recited for three nights, no
shaytaan (devil)will remain in the house)./ - - - :-> Transtors:

6 - Reciting "Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah,
lahu'l-mulk wa lahu'l-hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer (There is
no god except Allaah Alone with no partner or associate; His isthe
Sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things)"
one hundred times.
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:"Whoever says "Laa
ilaahaill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahu'l-mulk wa lahu'l-hamd
wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer" one hundred times in the day, will
have a reward equivalent to that of freeing ten slaves, one hundred
hasanahs (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and one hundred
sayi'ahs (bad deeds) will be erased from his record,and it will be
protection for him from the Shaytaanfor that day, until eveningcomes.
No one could achieve any better than him except the one who does more
than he did."
(narrated by al-Bukhaari, 31119; Muslim, 2691)
7 - Remembering Allaah often (dhikr)
It was narrated from al-Haarith al-Ash'ari that the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Allaah commanded Yahyaa ibn
Zakariyah (peace be upon him) five things to follow and to enjoin upon
the Children of Israel... and he commanded them to remember Allaah,
and thelikeness of that is a man who was being pursued by the enemy,
until he reached a strong fortress in which he found protection;
similarly a man cannot find protection from the Shaytaan except by
remembering Allaah..."
(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2863; he said it is hasan saheeh. The
hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami', 1724)
8 - The adhaan
It was narrated that Suhayl ibn Abi Saalih said:"My father sent me to
Bani Haarithah, and there was with me a slave of ours, or a companion
of ours. Someone called out his name from a garden, and the one who
was with me looked into the garden and did not see anything. I
mentioned that to my father, and he said, 'If I had known that this
was going to happen to you, I would not have sent you. But if you hear
avoice then make the call for prayer, for I heard AbuHurayrah (may
Allaah be pleased with him) narrating that the Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:"When the Shaytaan
hears the call to prayer, he runs away fast."'"(Narrated by Muslim,
389).
The word translated here as "runs away fast" may also mean "farting."
9 - Reciting Qur'aan offers protection against the Shaytaan
Allaah says (interpretationof the meaning):
"And when you (Muhammad) recite the Qur'aan, We put between you and
those who believe not in the Hereafter, an invisible veil (or screen
their hearts, so they hear or understand itnot)[al-Israa' 17:45]/

In the following sections, we will analyze how the Qur'an looks at
Paradise and, based upon these descriptions,"try to imagine this
perfect place.But before we do this, let's look at a few important
points. In today's societies, many people have erroneous ideas and
impressions in their conscious and subconscious minds. As such
obstacles cause themto formulate a mistaken view, we must describe
some basic Islamic concepts whose meaningshave departed from their
original understanding.
With this in mind, we firsthave to distinguish between "blessing"
and"dissipation."
In the following pages, we will see that the Qur'an describes Paradise
as an extremely luxurious and magnificent place, and that life therein
is as comfortable and attractive as it can be.
However, to many people today, such a life is not so much "Islamic" as
it is a natural outcome of being alienated from Allah and religious
moral teaching.
So, because of this erroneous understanding that dominates society,
very many people think that a comfortable, luxurious, and ostentatious
life, and all that goes along with it, are "un-Islamic." They see such
things as expensive clothes, rich food, entertainment, dinner parties,
magnificently appointed houses, d�cor, and valuable art works as
belonging to ignorant people cut off from their religion. They usually
call a life filled with these things "dissolute," and criticize those
who give this society its name as"living undisciplined lives of
dissolution." The word"dissolution" (safahat) comes from the Arabic
safih, and can be translated as "a lack of discipline,
overindulgence,a weakness of mind that comes from living an
irresponsible life of wealth and comfort."
Here, we encounter a falseunderstanding that must be corrected. The
life of Paradise that Allah has been pleased to choose for His
servants, as well asa life that contains every kind of luxury,
comfort, and ostentation, is also the most beautiful and noble way of
life, one thatconforms as closely as possible to religious moral
teaching.
A false definition of dissolution opens the wayto misunderstanding.
Dissolution, or rebellion against Allah through a lack of discipline
and overindulgence, is a condition of the human mind. People are not
dissolute because of their clothes, ostentatious houses, aesthetic
environments, or materialwealth. Rather, the problem is in their
minds.
The natural result of this situation is this: If people have a
Qur'anic morality and a strong faith, they can live among the
richestopulence imaginable without ever becoming dissolute. On the
contrary,because they view everything they encounter according to the
Qur'anic criteria and moral teaching, they see all of the beauty
surrounding them as a blessing. In other words, they realize that all
of these things are gifts fromAllah. So, if Muslims know that Allah
has given all of the surrounding riches, beauty, opulence, and
magnificence, naturally they thank our Lord for what He has provided.
This is, after all, why all blessings have been created.
If we applied this general way of thinking to our present society, we
wouldhave to say that those who live a dissolute life and turn away
from Allah's commands have gone astray, because theydo not see that
all of theirpossibilities are blessings from Him. If they saw these
things as blessings, this understanding would lead them to give thanks
to Allah. And then, they would use these blessingsas Allah intended
them to be used: avoiding waste and using them in a way pleasing to
Him.
So, wealth can be defined in two ways. Some rich people are believers
who consider all of their possessions to be blessings from Allah,
while other rich people goastray by considering all of their
possessions as their own, forget Allah, and fall into dissolution.
However, the model that Allah has proposed for all of His servants is
wealth, as mentioned in the first model above. Wealth and poverty are
tests for believers. Although some believers may be tested by poverty,
Allah commands: "We desired to show kindness to thosewho were
oppressed in the land, and to make them leaders and inheritors" (Surat
al-Qasas,5). This might happen in the world, but it certainly will
happen in the afterlife.
Therefore, it would be very wrong for Muslims tofind fault with grand,
luxurious, and opulent lives. Muslims must not shun such people and
regard them with disdain,because, after all, all material things in
this life (e.g., fine clothes, deliciousfood, magnificent homes and
works of art) were created for Muslims, as weread in Surat al-A'raf,
32:
Say: "Who has forbidden the fine clothing that Allah has produced.....

Paradise: Introduction

What do you want most out of life? A nice house, expensive clothes,
money,wealth, opulence? What ifyou were told about a place where you
could geteverything you wanted and keep it forever? Whatwould you say?
Of course you would be very excited and want to see this perfect place
right away. Surely no one would ever object to living in such a
wonderful place.
Now just think. Has anyone ever talked to youabout a place filled with
acountless array of blessings, where beauty isspread out at your feet?
Surely someone must have done so, telling you and all other people
about the existence of a life - the life of Paradise - where
everything that you want will be prepared for you. Everyone knows that
afterdeath there is an endless Paradise. Everyone judgedworthy to
enter it will find everything they desire there; they will receive
their rewards and blessings, and live in a perfect place surrounded by
beauty forever. To those faithful servants who pass the test of this
earthly life, Allah has promised an unprecedented land. The limited
time one spends in this world, on the otherhand, is an opportunity
toattain these beauties.
So what keeps people from being overcome with joy at the good newsof
Paradise? What stops them from longing for it, from expending every
effort to attain it? Why dopeople, knowing that they will receive
these blessings as a divine reward, not prepare for Paradise? Surely
the most important reason is that some people do not have an assured
faith that it exists; others are not convinced. There may be other
reasons why peopledo not believe in or have doubts about it. But the
basic thing that we must consider is that this doubtsometimes arises
from a lack of knowledge.
The only remedy for this lack of knowledge is the Qur'an.
In the Qur'an, Allah describes a wonderful life of perfect and endless
beauty in Paradise. Someone who does not know this beauty's extentor
how the Qur'an describes it may have difficulty envisioning Paradise
and the kind of life there.
This book tells people about Paradise, which Allah offers to them,
describes its great blessings, and proclaims its beauties to everyone.
It informs people that Paradise is one of two ways of life prepared
for them in the afterworld, and that every good thingwill be theirs in
Paradise to a degree that surpassesour present ability to imagine. It
also shows that Paradise, is a place where all blessings have been
created perfectly and where people will be offered everything their
souls and hearts will desire; that people will befar removed from want
and need, anxiety or sadness, sorrow and regret. Every kind of beauty
and blessing existsin Paradise and will be revealed with a
perfectionnever seen or known before. Allah has preparedsuch blessings
there as a gift, and these will be offered only to people with whom He
is pleased.
This book describes everything about Paradisein the light of the
Qur'an'sverses. So, as you read this information and try to envision
that blessed place, remember that the Qur'an is the truth. Based on
this information, consider the perfection of the real land that is
waiting for you, and makeevery effort to be worthy of it. Be aware
that Allah will give you all of these things by His grace, and that
they can be yours forever. Given all of this, ifyou still cannot
decide in favor of eternal beauty, remember that the only choice left
is Hell, a place full of anguish from where you will observe the
comfort of those in Paradise and experience eternal anxiety, sadness,
misery, and sorrow.

A scholar in China

A Muslim scholar (sheikh) was on a visit to China to give a series of
lectures tothe local Muslim community. One day, he was scheduled to
give a lecture at a local hall and was about to take a taxi along with
his companions to that location.
They got into the taxi andthe Sheikh asked about the length of time it
would take to get to the lecture hall. The taxi driver, through the
interpreter, answered"Two hours."
The Sheikh immediately turned to his companions and said: "well, we
can't sit in this taxi with the driver for two hours and not tell him
about our religion. If we did that then we would be no different than
any other non-Muslim or kaffir who uses this taxi. We are the people
that Allah (SWT) chose to carry His message and honoured usto be
Muslims. It is our duty to tell this person about Islam."
However, the driver was anative Chinese and didn't have a common
languagewith the Sheikh. They hadto communicate through an
interpreter.
Sheikh to interpreter: "Askthe man if he believes in any religion?"
Driver: "No, I don't believein religion. I just get up in the morning,
go to work and earn money. At the end of the day, I collect my money,
go buy some food and drink for my family. What do I need religion
for?"
Sheikh: "Ask this man if hehas ever heard anything about Islam."
Driver: "Not much. I've seen a tape once and showed Muslims as violent
people. I don't know much else."
Sheikh: "Ask him about computers. What does he think of computer?"
Driver: "I think the computer is an excellent invention. It is very
useful and very sophisticated."
Sheikh: "Does he think that the computer could have invented itself or
does he think that a human being invented it?"
Driver: "A human invented it, of course. It is not capable of inventing itself."
Sheikh: "Which one is more complicated the computer or the human being?"
Driver: "The human being is more complicated, of course."
Sheikh: "O.K., if the computer must have beeninvented by a human
being, then it follows thata human being (which is more complicated)
must also have a creator."
Driver: "O.K."
Sheikh: "In Islam, we believe that Allah is the creator of human
beings and all other beings. Fine, now let's move on. Assume that you
have never seen a computer before and never heard ofit. If I brought a
computerto you and gave it to you. Would you know what to do with it?
Would you be able to use to its full potential?"
Driver: "No, I wouldn't."
Sheikh: "Now, if I gave you a catalogue for the computer, then you
will be able to better use it? Correct?"
Driver: "Correct!"
Sheikh: "In Islam, we viewQuran as the catalogue used by human beings
to manage their lives. Without this catalogue, they will ruin
themselves!Now, if this inventor of the computer assembled the machine
and printed the catalogue, what would be the next step? He would need
to train some engineers and others on how to spread the message about
this machine. These people would, in turn, train others and others
until everyone knows about the machine. In the example of Allah and
Quran, the prophets of Allah play the role of the engineers. They
learn the message and teach it to others so that the message will
spread. Prophet Muhammad (saw) is the final messanger of Allah and
hewas ordered to take the message to all human beings."
By this time, the trip was coming to an end and they almost reached
the lecture hall. But the Sheikh can see that there were tears coming
out of the driver's eyes. The words of the Sheikh was having a
significant effect on this driver.
Driver: "These ideas are very interesting to me. Doyou mind spending
15 more minutes with me to tell me about this religion?"
The Sheikh agreed to spend those few minutes with this person and did.
The man asked many questions and seemed genuine in his desire to learn

One Seed to a Forest

There is a saying "There lies a forest in every seed". We all have
seen that after planting a seed, it grows up to be a plant, which then
gives out fruits with many other seeds. Therefore, a forest can be
grown from one seed if we kept on planting the new seeds that come out
from it. It isindeed one of the evident miracles of Allah!
Similarly, the kalimah, there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His
messenger, is only one sentence in size but it contains the entire
paradise in it. Success in this world, in the grave, on the Day of
Judgement and hereafter lies only in obeying the message of this
kalimah.

In our area, we rented a room on the 12th floor of an apartment
building forperforming salah with jamath. This particular building was
chosen because 100s of Muslim families live here and there was no
Masjid in thewalking distance. One dayas we came to pray salah, we
discovered that all theelevators were occupied or out of service. So,
me and another brother decided to take the stairs. After reaching the
8th floor, we were exhausted and could barely keep on climbing. Then,
suddenly something came to the mind of the brother who was climbing
with me. He said, "Going up the stairs is very difficult, but going
down is very easy. Similar is our iman, losing it is very easy but
gaining it is very difficult."

Feeding the Horse

Suppose you use a horse for transportation as people have done in the
past. One of your friends invites you to his house and you get there
by riding your horse. Now, what would happen if your friend totally
ignoresyou and starts feeding and looking after the horse only? You
will feel confused as yourself, the rider, was suppose to be the
guest, not the horse that you rode on.
The above situation sounds abnormal but thatis exactly what we are
doing today. Allah has given us a body and a soul. The soul rides on
thebody to pass through this world. In other words, thebody is like
the horse and the soul is like the rider ofthe horse. Today, we are
continuously busy in feeding and looking after the body but totally
ignored the well being of our souls. As a result, our souls have
become so weak without the spiritual food that it is notstrong enough
to even push us to go to the Masjid or wake up for Fajr prayer. Thus,
it is essentialthat we strengthen our soul with the spiritual food as
shown by Islam, such as keeping the company of the pious, recitation
of the Holy Quran, Dhikr of Allah and contemplating over the Greatness
of Allah.

How to Safeguard the Islam of Newly Reverted Sister

I would like to thank the founders and the workers on this web site
because it helped me and is still helping me a lot.
I embraced Islam three years ago (Al-hamdulillah), and fromthat time
on I worked to convince my family members and my close friends to
submit to it.
My little sister (15 years old) who was watching me for the past three
years grew in her belief and eventually uttered the Shahada (testimony
offaith) one week ago ( Al-hamdulillah).
Now my concern is, how can I protect her faith; how can I help her to
strengthen it?
I feel she might lose her faith any time because the environment we
are living in encourages people to go astray. In addition to that, my
parents still don't know about her conversion, I'm sure that if they
knew they would not be pleased with it and they would try to get her
back to Judaism.
Please, I need your advice,I really don't know how to deal with this situation.
Praise be to Allaah.
First:
From that which makes a Muslim happy is his seeing people enter into
the true religion of Allah, the Exalted and leaving their false and
distorted religions. We'd like to congratulate you on having been
chosen by Allah for Islam and then for being granted the ability to
call towards the guidance which resulted in the Islam of your sister
and her being saved from the wrath and punishment of Allah. This takes
our minds back to the glorious companion, Abdullah ibn Salam, who was
a Jew and who entered Islam and perfected his Islam. We ask Allah, the
Exalted, to keep you and your sister firm and to grant you the
strength and ability to attain beneficial knowledge and work righteous
deeds.
Second:
From that which we advise you to do with your sister who entered Islam
in order to help keep her firmly upon the religions is the following:
1. Encourage her to recite and to listen to Quran a great deal. It
would be nice if you couldassist in selecting recitations of recitors
whose voices are pleasingto the listeners.
2. Make available to hersmall but highly beneficialIslamic books
which contain simplified Islamic rulings and the biographies of great
Islamic scholars and leaders. It would be preferred if they contained
biographies of female scholars, callers and warriors.
3. Make every effort to keep her away from bad company, especially
thosefriends which she had before Islam and who hadan impact on her
due to their strong personalities or gentleness. Be gentle while doing
this so as not to turn her away from you and have her more attached to
her friends.
4. Make easily accessible to her touching audio materials which
talk about Islamic issues and the fate of man after death and the
hereafter.
5. Encourage her to regularly praise and thankAllah, the Exalted,
for the blessing of guidance. Through gratitude, blessings last and
every slave requires of his Lord, the Exalted, to assist him,
strengthen him and keep him firm upon his religion.
6. Encourage her to pray regularly and on time while giving the
prayer its due by carrying out its necessary and compulsory actions in
the best manner and urge herto supplicate abundantly during the
prostration.
7. Be sure to tell her notto reveal her reversion to Islam to her
family at this time out of fear that they will influence her
negatively and cause her harm in her religion. See the answers to the
two questions 33827 and 69752 .
8. The fact that you were able to influence herand she accepted
Islam after observing you shows that she respects you and has love for
you. Therefore, try to be her best friend and the rock she can lean
on. Try your best to give her all the moral support you can; continue
being a good example for her, let her talk to you and share her
thoughts with you and lether feel that you are therefor her whenever
she needs you. Insha Allah your companionship and support will be a
positive influence on her.
9. It goes without saying that perhaps one of the most effective
means (if not the most effective) is for you to regularly and
consistently supplicate to Allah (du'aa) for her. Everything is in
Allah's Hands and He is the One Who controls the hearts, therefore,
implore Him to keep your sister firm upon the truth.
10. Gently try to help yoursister find a new set of friends who will
be supportive and act as good role models.
We ask Allah to keep you both firm upon His religion and to grant you
success in pleasing Him. Thank you for taking the time to benefit from

How Sawad bin Qarib became a Muslim

In the report given by Imam Baihaqi in his Hadith collection, Hadhrat
Sawad bin Qarib stated:"In the period of ignorance or pre-Islamic
period, I had friendship with a jinn who used to give me information
about the future events which I used to tell the people. Many people
had become my devotees and offered me the presents as information by
him always proved true. One day, he came and awakened me when I
wasasleep and said: Get up and be conscious. If you possess some
sense, knowthat a Prophet has come from the descendants of Lawa bin
Ghalib. Then, thejinn recited a few verses which meant:
"I am surprised at those jinns who ride their camels and, getting
restless, flee to Makkah for guidance. The jinns who embraced Islam
are better than the unclean jinns. So, you should, also, look at that
chief of Arabs and travel towards that chief of the Bani Hashim."
Sawad bin Qarib stated that, after hearing these couplets, I remained
restless throughout the night. The second night, also, that jinn came
and awakened me and recitedthe same couplets. The third night, also,
this event took place. As the event happened for three nights
continuously, the love of Islam settled in my heart and I reached
Makkah for the Prophet (saw). As soon as the Prophet (saw) saw me,
hesaid: "Welcome! O Sawad bin Qarib. I know what brings you here." I
submitted: "O Apostle of Allah! I have composed some couplets praising
you. Please, first listen to these couplets." Being permitted by the
Prophet (saw) Sawad recited his poem praising the Prophet (saw). The
last couplet of this poem is:
"O Prophet of Allah! please, intercede for my forgiveness on the day
when nobody will intercede and benefit for anyone."

The Locks on the Door

I always lock my doors before going outside. I believe all of us do
the same to protect our valuable properties from the thieves. I have
seen people with more than 3 locks on the door and some also have a
specialized integrated alarm system against forceful entry! Some also
have 24 hours live monitoring systems built in the house. Then one day
I was thinking, it is quite sad that we use so many locks in order to
safeguard some belongings, but, we have little or no locks at all in
ourselves to safeguard our iman from Shaitan and evils of this world.
This iman, which is more precious than any material thing, needs more
protection than our belongings.

Voice from the Belly of an Idol

Umar (ra) narrates: "One day, I was present near the idols. An
idol-worshipper slaughtered a calf, by wayof making an offering for
the idols. In the meanwhile, all of a sudden, a voice came out of the
belly of a big idol, in these words:
"O strange man! a useful thing is this that an eloquent person says:
There is no god but Allah."
Umar (ra) stated that the people ran away getting frightened of this
call; but I stayed in order to know the reality of this voice. Second
time, also, the voice was heard. Thus, after some period, it was heard
about Muhammad (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) that he is a Prophet and
teaches that there is no god but Allah.

The voice came from a Jinn inside the belly of theidol.

Comments about two people

Sahl ibne Sa'd (RA) narrates: Once a person passed by Rasulullah
(SAW), (and) he asked someone sitting with him:What do you think of
the passerby? He replied: He is among the respected ofthe society; and
by Allah! If he proposes to a woman, he will be married; should he
recommend something, his recommendation will be accepted. Rasulullah
(SAW) kept his peace (silence). Then, another person passed by, and
Rasulullah (SAW) asked (the man sitting with him,again): What is your
opinion about this man? He answered: O Rasulullah! He is a poor
ofMuslims. If he proposes (for marriage), it will not be accepted;
should he recommend (something), his recommendation will be rejected;
and if he speaks, nobody will pay heed. Rasulullah (SAW) said: This
man (the poor Muslim) is better than a whole world (full) of the like
of that (the first one). Source: Sahih Bukhari.
We must love and respectthe poor ones of this ummah and we should
never look down upon them. During this month of Ramadan, let us all
remember how much sufferings they go through everyday.

Dry bread and vinegar

Hadrath Ibn Abbas narrates: Holy Prophet (SAW) asked Umm Hani if there
was anything to eat.Umm Hani (RA) said that there was only dry bread
and she felt ashamed of offering it to him. He said:"No! Bring it." He
broke the bread into pieces, dipped them into water and added some
salt. Then he asked her if therewas any curry. She said there was
nothing except vinegar. He sent for it and then, sprinkling it over
the crumbs, ate them and thanked Allah. Source: Baihaqi.
Allahu Akbar! How thankful our Prophet was to Allah even after
gettingsuch type of food. We now a days throw away better food than
this.
