*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Muslims are to love for our brothers/ sisters what we love for ourselves.

Jealously & envy are disgusting traits where a person wishes Allah did
notbestow some of His Favors upon another person. However, Muslims are
to love for our brothers/ sisters what we love for ourselves. We
should be extremely happy for our brothers/ sisters when goodbefalls
them. Indeed, jealously & envy have no room in Islam, so if you feel
you have these traits, repent to Allah & strive to purify your heart
in'sha'Allah!

Forgive Yourself

First, ask Allah for forgiveness. If you've harmed someone, ask
theirforgiveness as well. Do tawbah. And then forgive yourself. Don't
carry guilt and shame around in your heart like a poisoned dagger.
Constant regret for the past is a waste of spirit.
You are not an angel, nor am I, nor any human beingon this earth. It's
part of Allah's plan that you commit sins, and He forgives you. That's
why Hehas written that His mercy is greater than His wrath.
Don't despise yourself. Forgive yourself. It's okay to let go of the
past. Self respect and dignity come from who you are right now. You
have a good soul,or you would not be here, reading these words.
Tomorrow is a new day. Wake up and thank Allah, and do your best every
day. Have faith in Allah's love and mercy, and reflect that in your
actions towardothers. Be peaceful, and strive to be happy./

Live the Moment – It’s All You Have

Try to appreciate the present moment and truly live it, rather than
using it up by feeling guilty about the past, or fretting about the
future. Regret for the past is a waste of spirit, and worrying about
the future is pointless.
Hanan Bilal, a community activist and motivator fromFlorida, asks,
"When will we stop living in the past and longing for our future? All
we really have is this moment. The question is what are we going to do
right now? Our time is now!"
The Past
That's not to say that contemplation of past and future is verboten.
The Quran tells stories of the past in order to educate us.The
Messenger of Allah (sws) told us many stories of past Prophets and the
Bani Israa'il, for the same reason. We study world history, we study
the seerah of our Prophet and the lives of the Sahabah, because it
inspires and informs.
I taught a martial arts classseveral hours ago and I'm still reviewing
it in my mind, examining what I could do better next time. That's part
of the learning process for me.
I have a sweet young daughter named Salma and I often think about my
time with her, something funny that she said, or the small gifts that
she likes to make for me. Yesterday she made me a card that says "I
love Baba." A few days ago we had a poetry reading at our local
Muslimcommunity center, and in between readings our host told jokes.
For some reasonSalma positioned herself in the front row, and every
time our host told a joke I heard Salma laughing loudly, even though
I'm sure she did not understand the jokes ("do vegetarians eat animal
crackers?"). Crazy kid, ha ha. So yeah, I think about past moments.
But I'm not stuck in the past. I think about those moments because
they educate me or make me smile, so they become a part of my present
and future.
On the other hand, I occasionally think about my former marriage, and
those are usually not good thoughts, because I tend todwell on the
mistakes I made, and I feel sadness orguilt. I've already contemplated
deeply on that period in my life, and I've learned my lessons. I don't
need to keep returning there in my mind, punishing myself. If Idid,
then I would indeed bestuck in the past, unable to move forward. That
is the kind of pointless regret that weighs people down and burdens
their spirits.
The Future
We plan for the future by having goals, getting an education, working
hard, saving money, always learning and improving ourselves. We plan
for our aakhirah by dedicating ourselves to Allah, worshiping, giving
our money to the poor and orphans, and humbling ourselves. We build
our futures step by step. But it's not productive to sit around biting
our nails andthinking, "What if I fail my exam, oh, when will I get
married, what's going to happen if I lose my job, how will I pay my
bills…" You make yourself sick andit doesn't help.
Don't worry, plan . There's ahuge difference! Then acknowledge that
you don't control the future. That's Allah's province. Trust in Him,
let him be your guide, find your security in Him.
The security of the dunya isfalse security. Suffering is the lot of
all Adam's children, in one way or another, and death comes when we're
ready or not. The security of Allah is real and transcends this world.
The Moment
This moment is all we have, my friend. The past isgone, and the future
never comes, because when we get there, we're still in the present/

Incarcerated Muslims at Guantanamo Bay

I've collected these photos of Muslims praying in amazing and
interesting places. And one or two thatare simply cute When thesalat
time comes, no matter where they are, they bow their heads in
adoration to Allah. Some ofthem are in places of hardship or
discomfort, andsome in surroundings that are beautiful, stark or
strange. Regardless, they give Allah His due, not minding their
circumstances. They inspireus all. May Allah reward them.

The Second Caliph, Umar (634-644 A.C.)

"God has placed truth upon Umar's tongue and heart. (hadeeth)"
'Umar's Life
During his last illness Abu Bakr had conferred with his people,
particularly the more eminent among them. After this meeting they
chose 'Umar as his successor. 'Umar was born into arespected Quraish
family thirteenyears after the birth of Muhammad (peace be on him).
Umar's family was known for its extensive knowledge of genealogy. When
he grew up, 'Umar was proficient in this branch of knowledge as well
as in swordsmanship, wrestling andthe art of speaking. He also learned
to read and write while still a child, a very rare thing in Mecca at
that time. 'Umar earned his living as a merchant. His tradetook him to
many foreign lands and he met all kinds of people. This experience
gave him an insight into the affairs and problems of men. 'Umar's
personality was dynamic, self-assertive, frank and straight forward.
He always spoke whatever was in his mind even ifit displeased others.
'Umar was twenty-seven when the Prophet (peace be on him) proclaimed
his mission. The ideas Muhammad was preachingenraged him as much as
they didthe other notables of Mecca. He was just as bitter against
anyoneaccepting Islam as others amongthe Quraish. When his slave-girl
accepted Islam he beat her until he himself was exhausted and told
her, "I have stopped becauseI am tired, not out of pity for you." The
story of his embracing Islam is an interesting one. One day, full of
anger against the Prophet, he drew his sword and set out to kill him.
A friend met him on the way. When 'Umar toldhim what he planned to do,
his friend informed him that 'Umar'sown sister, Fatima, and her
husband had also accepted Islam. 'Umar went straight to his sister's
house where he found her reading from pages of the Qur'an. He fell
upon her and beat her mercilessly. Bruised and bleeding, she told her
brother,"Umar, you can do what you like, but you cannot turn our
hearts away from Islam." These words produced a strange effect upon
'Umar. What was this faith that made even weak women so strong of
heart? He asked his sister to show him what she had been reading; he
was at once moved to the core by the words of the Qur'an and
immediately grasped their truth. He went straight to the house where
the Prophet was staying and vowed allegiance to him.
Umar made no secret of his acceptance of Islam. He gathered the
Muslims and offered prayers at the Ka'aba. This boldness and devotion
of an influential citizen of Mecca raised the morale of thesmall
community of Muslims. Nonetheless 'Umar was also subjected to
privations, and when permission for emigration to Medina came, he also
left Mecca. The soundness of 'Umar'sjudgment, his devotion to the
Prophet (peace be on him), his outspokenness and uprightness won for
him a trust and confidence from the Prophet which was second only to
that given to Abu Bakr. The Prophet gave him the title 'Farooq' which
means the 'Separator of Truth from False hood.' During the Caliphate
of Abu Bakr, 'Umar washis closest assistant and adviser. When Abu Bakr
died, all the people of Medina swore allegiance to 'Umar, and on 23
Jamadi-al-Akhir, 13 A.H., he was proclaimed Caliph.
'Umar's Caliphate
After taking charge of his office, 'Umar spoke to the Muslims of Medina:
"...O people, you have some rightson me which you can always claim.
One of your rights is that ifanyone of you comes to me with a claim,
he should leave satisfied. Another of your rights is that youcan
demand that I take nothing unjustly from the revenues of theState. You
can also demand that...I fortify your frontiers and do notput you into
danger. It is also your right that if you go to battle I should look
after your families as a father would while you are away. "O people,
remain conscious of God, forgive me my faults and help me in my task.
Assist me in enforcing what is good and forbidding what is evil.Advise
me regarding the obligations that have been imposed upon me by God..."
The most notable feature of 'Umar's caliphate was the vast expansion
of Islam. Apart from Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Palestine and Iran also came
under the protection of the Islamic government. But the greatness
of'Umar himself lies in the quality of his rule. He gave a practical
meaning to the Qur'anic injunction:
"O you who believe, stand out firmly for justice as witnesses to God,
even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether
it concerns rich or poor, for God can best protect both." [4:135]....

The First Caliph, Abu Bakr(632-634 A.C.)

"If I were to take a friend other than my Lord, I would take Abu Bakr as a friend." (Hadeeth)
Election to the Caliphate
The Prophet's closest Companion,Abu Bakr, was not present when the Holy Prophet (peace be on him) breathed his last in the apartment of his beloved wife of later years, Aisha, Abu Bakr's daughter. When he came to know of the Prophet's passing, Abu Bakr hurried to the house ofsorrow.
"How blessed was your life and how beatific is your death,"
he whispered as he kissed the cheek of his beloved friend and master who now was no more.
When Abu Bakr came out of the Prophet's apartment and broke the news, disbelief and dismay gripped the community of Muslims in Medina. Muhammad (peace be on him) had been the leader, the guide and the bearer of Divine revelation through whom they had been brought from idolatry and barbarism into the way of God. How could he die? Even Umar, one of the bravest and strongest of the Prophet's Companions, lost his composure and drew his sword and threatened to kill anyone who said that the Prophet was dead. Abu Bakr gently pushed him aside, ascended the steps of the lectern in the mosque and addressed the people, saying
"O people, verily whoever worshipped Muhammad, behold!Muhammad is indeed dead. But whoever worships God, behold! God is alive and will never die."
And then he concluded with a verse from the Qur'an:
"And Muhammad is but a Messenger. Many Messengers have gone before him; if then he dies or is killed, will you turn back upon your heels?" [3:144]
On hearing these words, the people were consoled. Despondency gave place to confidence and tranquility. This critical moment had passed. But the Muslim community was now faced with an extremely serious problem: that of choosing a leader. After some discussion among the Companions of the Prophet who had assembled in order to select a leader, it became apparent that no one was better suited for this responsibility than Abu Bakr. A portion of the speech the First Caliph gave after his election has already been quoted in the introduction.
Abu Bakr's Life
Abu Bakr ('The Owner of Camels')was not his real name. He acquired this name later in life because of his great interest in raising camels. His real name wasAbdul Ka'aba ('Slave of Ka'aba'), which Muhammad (peace be on him) later changed to Abdullah ('Slave of God'). The Prophet also gave him the title of 'Siddiq' - 'The Testifier to the Truth.'
Abu Bakr was a fairly wealthy merchant, and before he embraced Islam, was a respectedcitizen of Mecca. He was three years younger than Muhammad (peace be on him) and some natural affinity drew them together from earliest child hood.He remained the closest Companion of the Prophet all through the Prophet's life. When Muhammad first invited his closest friends and relatives to Islam, Abu Bakr was among the earliest to accept it. He also persuaded Uthman and Bilal to accept Islam. In the early days of the Prophet's mission, when the handful of Muslims were subjected to relentless persecution and torture, Abu Bakr bore his full share of hardship. Finally when God's permission came to emigrate from Mecca, he was the one chosen by the Prophet to accompany him on the dangerous journey to Medina. In the numerous battles which tookplace during the life of the Prophet, Abu Bakr was always byhis side. Once, he brought all his belongings to the Prophet, who was raising money for the defense of Medina. The Prophet asked "Abu Bakr, what did you leave for your family?" The reply came: "God and His Prophet."
Even before Islam, Abu Bakr was known to be a man of upright character and amiable and compassionate nature. All through his life he was sensitive to human suffering and kind to the poor and helpless. Even though he was wealthy, he lived very simply and spent his money for charity, for freeing slaves and for the cause of Islam. He often spent part of the night in supplication and prayer. He shared with his family a cheerful and affectionate home life.
Abu-Bakr's Caliphate
Such, then, was the man upon whom the burden of leadership fell at the most sensitive period in the history of the Muslims.
As the news of the Prophet's death spread, a number of tribes rebelled and refused to pay Zakat(poor-due), saying that this was due only to the Prophet (peace be on him). At the same time a number of impostors claimed that the prophethood had passed to them after Muhammadand they raised the standard of revolt....

Everything is possible for those who believe:

Nourish your dreams. To achieve anything requires faith in Allah,
belief in yourself, imagination, vision, persistence, hard work, and
sometimes blood and tears.
The will of Allah and the power of your heart and mind make an
unbeatable combination. Everything is possible for those who believe –
anything you can envision, and many things you can't.
I'm thinking of a ragtag group of desert Arabs, who, in the course of
a single generation, transformed the world forever. I am speaking of
course of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions.
What they did was impossible – there's no other word for it. But
through the power of Allah, and the tremendous determination of one
man, and the faith of those who followed him, the impossible became
possible. Because of their faith and sacrifices, you and I can utter
the words, " Laa ilaha-il-Allah " and put them into practice in our
lives.
Your dreams don't have to be thatgrand. Whether you dream of building
a new masjid for your community, writing a novel, competing in sports,
becoming a doctor, doing charity work overseas, memorizing the Quran,
or any other good and meaningful goal – it can be achieved by the will
of Allah. But you can't just sit back and wait forit to happen. Feed
your dream as you would feed a newly planted seed. Care for it, devote
time to it, don't give up, and watch it grow before your eyes/

Let's face it, the world is full of poisonous people who will try to
stamp on our spirits and shoot holes in our dreams. They might slow us
down for a minute, but we can't let them stop us at all. If a thing is

says. My advice: Keep your head up and your back straight. Know
yourself, speak the truth, love your family, read the Quran, and leave
the poisonous people behind/

“Among His Signs in this, that He created you from dust; and then,- behold, you are human beings scattered (far and wide)!” – Quran, 30:20.

Our existence is a miracle. That we are here, on this tiny planet
revolving in space, thinking our thoughts, sailing the ocean, growing
crops, loving, worshiping, forgiving, living and dying, is a miracle.
Our aspirations, hopes and bravery are miracles and gifts.
Beyond that, each of us hasthe potential to be a miracle worker, not

Ego Tripping (There May Be A Reason Why)

I was born in the congo
I walked to the fertile crescent and built
the sphinx
I designed a pyramid so tough that a star
that only glows every one hundred years falls
into the center giving divine perfect light
I am bad
I sat on the throne
drinking nectar with allah
I got hot and sent an ice age to europe
to cool my thirst
My oldest daughter is nefertiti
the tears from my birth pains
created the nile
I am a beautiful woman
I gazed on the forest and burned
out the sahara desert
with a packet of goat's meat
and a change of clothes
I crossed it in two hours
I am a gazelle so swift
so swift you can't catch me
For a birthday present when he was three
I gave my son hannibal an elephant
He gave me rome for mother's day
My strength flows ever on
My son noah built new/ark and
I stood proudly at the helm
as we sailed on a soft summer day
I turned myself into myself and was
jesus
men intone my loving name
All praises All praises
I am the one who would save
I sowed diamonds in my back yard
My bowels deliver uranium
the filings from my fingernails are
semi-precious jewels
On a trip north
I caught a cold and blew
My nose giving oil to the arab world
I am so hip even my errors are correct
I sailed west to reach east and had to round off
the earth as I went
The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid
across three continents
I am so perfect so divine soethereal so surreal
I cannot be comprehended except by my permission
I mean…I…can fly
like a bird in the sky…

The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) said narrating
about the journey of 'Isra wal Miraaj, "Then I was shown
Al-Bait-al-Ma'm ur (i.e. Allah's House). I asked Jibreel about it and
he said, This isAl Bait-ul-Ma'mur where 70,000 angels perform prayers
daily and when they leave they never return to it (but always a fresh
batch comes into it daily)."
(Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)
The house itself is also mentioned in Surah at-Tur, verse 4 where
Allah swt takes the oath by this that the punishment of Your Lord will
occur. [52:7]
He (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) also said, "Then the Bait-ul-Ma'mur
was raised up to me. I said: O Jabreel! what is this? He replied: It
is the Bait-ul-Ma'mur. Seventy thousand angels enter into it daily
and, after they come out, they never return again. Two vessels were
then brought to me. The first one contained wine and the second one
contained milk, and both of them were placed before me. I chose milk.
It was said: Youdid right. Allah will guide rightly through you your
Ummah on the natural course. Then fifty prayers daily were made
obligatory for me. And then he narrated the rest of the hadith to the
end."
(Saheeh Bukhari & Muslim)
This indicates the great numbers of angels and thatonly Allah Knows
how many they are. Hence, we must believe in them generally and
specifically as honored servants, not humans or Jinn, but as creatures
created from light as related in saheeh ahadeeth.
It is a Masjid like the Kabah, opposite to Allah's Throne. The angels
visit it, pray in it, and do Tawaf there just as the people of the
earth do Tawaf of their Kabah. Each day a fresh batch of 70,000 angels
comes to it. Till the Day of Judgement the same batch of angels will
not get a chance to return to it again. When this is the number of
Allah's work force, how powerful must Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) be?
In this world people get impressed by big companies. The greater
thenumber of employees, the more people are in awe of the employer.
Isn't Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) the greatest employer?--
