*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

She has a disability and is unable to do wudoo’, and her children refuse to help her to do wudoo’

There is a woman who has a disability and is unable to do wudoo'.
Sometimes she tells her children to help her do wudoo' but they do not
do that, so she has no choice but to pray without doing wudoo'. What
is the ruling on that?.
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
It is obligatory for the children to help their mother to purify
herself, because this is her right and is a duty upon them. Not doing
that means that they are committingone of the most grievousof major
sins, which is disobedience towards mthers.
There is the fear that Allah may hasten the punishment for them
because of this sin.
So they have to repent to Allah, regret what they have done, apologise
to their mother, ask her to forgive them, and strive hard to obey her
and please her, for this is oneof the gates of paradise and they do
not know when it will be closed for them, at which time regret will be
to no avail.
With regard to purifyingherself if they refuse to help her:
If a sick person is unable to do wudoo' and cannot find anyone to help
him do it, even in return for payment, thenhe should do tayammum. He
may do tayammum using the bed on which he sleeps if there is dust on
it, or he can keep a vessel next to him in which there is sand or dust
with which he may do tayammum.
Al-Bahooti (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Kashshaaf al-Qinaa'
(1/103): If the sick person who is unable to do wudoo' for himself can
find someone to do wudoo' for him or to do ghusl for him in return for
an appropriate payment and he can afford it, then he must do that,
because in that case doing wudoo' is obligatory for him as it isfor
one who is healthy. Ifhe cannot find someone to do wudoo' or tayammum
for him, because he cannot afford to pay or he cannot find someone to
hire for that purpose, then he should pray as he is. End quote.
If the woman asked about here is able to hire someone to help her do
wudoo', then she must do that.
If she cannot afford it, then she should move onto doing tayammum,
because Allah, may He beexalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
"But if you are ill or on a journey or any of you comes from answering
the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (i.e.
sexual intercourse) and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with
clean earth and rubtherewith your faces and hands" [al-Maa'idah 5:6].
Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: If a
sick person does not have any dust, can he dotayammum using the wall
or bed, or not?
He replied: If the wall is made of "clean earth", whether it is rocks
or bricks, then it is permissible to use it for tayammum. But if the
wall is covered with wood or is painted, if there is dust on it, then
it may be used for tayammum and there is nothing wrong with it, and he
will be like one who does tayammum using earth. But if there is no
dust on it, then it does not come under theheading of "earth" and
cannot be used for tayammum.
With regard to the bed, we say: if there is dust on it, it may be used
for tayammum; otherwise it may not because it does not come under the
heading of "earth".
End quote from Fataawa at-Tahaarah, p. 240.
If she is unable to do tayammum, she may pray without wudoo' or
tayammum, because Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the
meaning):
"Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope"
[al-Baqarah 2:286]
"So keep your duty to Allaah and fear Him as much as you can"
[al-Taghaabun 64:16].
Thus it is known that it isnot permissible for her to pray without
wudoo' or tayammum so long as she is able to do tayammum.
And Allah knows best.

Are you ready for yourturn?

He was a student, probably in his early twenties. I didn't know his
name--I really didn't care. All I know is he wasgoing for a lay-up
while playing basketball, lost his balance and fell on the
ground--flat on his back.
We thought he would shake it off and continuethe game--so no one
really cared. To everyone's surprise, he never got up. At first a few
people on his team (later everyone) went upto him but he just wouldn't
reply.
CPR did no good. The ambulance personnel couldn't save him from dying.
The result at the ER was no better. HE WASDEAD!
As I came home tonight, I thought to myself, it could have been me
going up for that lay-up.It is very possible that I could be laying in
the cold city morgue, right this minute, as I type thise-mail.
Am I ready to die? Did I communicate with Allah today? Did I perform
my daily prayers? Did I seek the pleasure of Allah?
Did I treat my parents and family with respect and love? Did I give
any at all in charity (sadaqa) today? How many times did I remember
Allah and recount His name?
The entire day I made time to go to school, check my e-mail, read the
news, chat with friends, watch TV, play basketball.......but did I
even once say"Astagfirullah"? Did I ask Allah to forgive the sins that
I've committed today? NO! Not once.
Did I say "Alhamdulillah" other than in my daily prayers? NO! Not once
my friends. Would you like to know why? Because I was too caught up
with myself and my daily activities.
Well, guess what. I could have lost my life during a lay-up in a
basketball game and what do I have with me? Not a thing. Nothing that
I did today do I get to bring with me to the grave. Nothing.
A few words that I could have uttered were the only things that I
could have brought with me. Afew words that would'vetaken a few
seconds of concentration out of the 24 hrs. that was allotted to me.
A few cents in charity instead of cold drinks and candy bars could
have saved my soul. But Iinsisted to continue withmy careless
attitude. Thank God it wasn't my turn to go, because I sure wasn't
ready.
Now I close my eyes and say Alhamdulillah. Now I look back and say
Astagfirullah. Now I havea different attitude. Now, I want to prepare
for my turn.
Did you perform your prayers today? Did you give in charity and love?
Did you ask for forgiveness yet? Do you care? I'm asking becauseI
don't want to see you fall, knowing you aren't ready for your turn.
Are you ready for your turn?
May the Peace and Mercyof Allah be upon us all.

Bride-Price / Dowry for a poor man

One day, a woman came to see the Prophet of Allah [PBUH= Allah's
blessings and Peace be upon him] and said: "Oh!Messenger of Allah! I
do not have a husband and I want to be a good wife; i give myself to
you."
The Messenger of Allah [PBUH] kept silent for a long while.
Suddenly, a man who was present stood up and asked if the woman would
accept him for a husband.
The Messenger of Allah [PBUH] said: "Do you have anything to give her
as a dowry."
The man thought and said: "I have half of my cloth," and indeed he was
wearing a single cloth around him.
"If you give her part of this cloth, you will have nothing to wear
anymore; it will become her possession. Find something else." Since
atthis time the followers ofIslam and the Prophet himself [PBUH] were
poor, the man thought again a long time and declared: "No, I do not
possess a thing to give her."
The Messenger of Allah then told him: "Go to your house and look for
something, even if it is an iron ring."
The man departed and came back a while later, and declared: "I looked
everywhere, but I did not find anything to giveher as her dowry."
After reflection, the Prophet of Allah [PBUH]said: "Did you learn some
of the Qur'an?"
"Yes, I have learned by heart so-and-so Surahs [chapters of the Qur'an]"
The Messenger of Alah [PBUH] therefore declared: "Teach her what you
know of the Qur'an, and this will constitute her dowry."
The couple felt contented with what was proposed, and they got married.
