*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -*
-
Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

NajimudeeN M - INDIA : For children, - Bohlool and Donkey
NajimudeeN M - INDIA : For children, - Bohlool and Donkey: Share ::- One day a friend of Bohlool's took some grains to grind at the mill. After grinding them, he loaded them...
stories, - Already dead
We were in deep, deep love. She was the best girl I could have ever
asked for. She was there for me when I needed her and I was there when
she needed me. We were very close, like kittens are to their mothers,
we were drawn to each other. With everything she did I felt more for
her, nothing she did could make me stop. She was just so amazing, I
was so lucky to have someone as great as her. We'd cuddle at night,
sleep next to each other, kiss each other passionately and just
generally love each other...
But then someone happened. I got sick, she didnt know. I started
talking to her less, kind of pushing her away, treating her as if she
did something wrong. She became very sad. When I came home at night I
stopped acknowledging her, kissing her, even telling her "hi." Id just
walk in and go upstairs. I couldn't stand to look at her though she
did nothing wrong. I hatted the way I was treating her but I didnt
want to hurt her by telling her I was sick. She came and knocked on my
bedroom door the second night I didnt sleep in our usual bed-- the one
we'd sleep together in. She came in, tears in her eyes. She starred at
me and the pain in my heart became almost unbearable. I hatted seeing
her cry. She came to me and I grabbed her in my arms and held her,
kissed her as she starred at the floor, still crying. "What did I do
wrong? Why won't you talk to me? Why won't you look at me?" she said
while sobbing. I stayed quiet, still holding her, feeling a sharp pain
in my heart. Tears ran down my cheeks, she looked at me, "whats
wrong?" she asked, "I've been keeping something from you. I have to
go." I replied. "Go where?" "I dont know, I need a brake," I said. I
got up and as I gathered my things she stood, starring at the floor,
then at me, then the floor again. I couldn't tell her I was on death
row, it would destroy her. I took my things and left.
After that she kept texting and calling me and finally gave up when
she didnt get a reply. Three weeks later I stood in Albertsons with my
things, heading toward the produce as I heard my name being called. I
turned around and it was her. She stood there with a sad look in her
eyes. She came up to me and wrapped her arms around my neck, "I miss
you so much," she said, kissing my cheek. I stood there frazzled. She
kept her arms around my neck and I slowly put my arms around her
waist, "I miss you, too." We talked for about 10 minutes then I spoke
up, "I need to tell you something, can I take you out for a cup of
coffee in about an hour or so?" She nodded. I hugged her tightly and
finished shopping then put my things in the car.
I drove home and thought about her the whole way. After I took my
groceries home I went and got her. "What did you need to tell me?" She
asked. A tear ran down my left cheek and I sniffled then shut my eyes
tightly. She brushed my cheek lightly with the back of her hand. I
grabbed hold of her hand and kissed it. "I..I've been pushing you away
lately because somethings wrong." She began to look worried. "I'm
gonna die soon, according to my doctor. I'm very sick. I have a blood
disease and it's starting to affect my heart now. It's life
threatening and incurable. Im lucky everyday more I have." She came to
my side of the table and hugged me, crying as if her eyes were
faucets. I kissed her head, whispering "no, dont cry, dont be sad."
She sniffled, "why didnt you tell me earlier?" she asked. "I couldn't,
I didnt want to hurt you. I didnt want to become worthless to you. I
didnt want to be a burden," she stayed quiet, still crying. "How long
have you known?" She asked. "Almost 2 months," I said. By now she was
out of tears, hugging me tightly she smiled at me, "Thank you for
telling me. I'm glad you're here now. You're the best boyfriend I
could ever ask for, you're perfect," she began getting chocked up. "I
just. Cant believe you're being ripped away from me and I cant do
anything.
You're all I've ever wanted." I kissed her cheek and squeezed her
tightly. "Dont be sad," I whispered. "Can we live together again?" she
asked. I agreed and moved back into what was my house to begin with
once again. That night we cuddled and she kept me up for fear of
losing me. When I finally got her to fall asleep I began to think what
a lucky guy I was and how thankful I was for her and how much of a
blessing she was in my life. I went to sleep with tears in my eyes
that night. When I woke up I cooked her breakfast and we spent all day
together. That night I watched her sleep, she was so damn cute. Then I
went to sleep while hugging her. The next morning I was woken up being
covered in kisses. I smiled at her, and she smiled back. We continued
having a great relationship for about a week until I didnt show up
from work. She was so worried, she kept calling and texting me and my
co-workers. My friend finally called her and told her to come to the
hospital.
When she got there her explained to her that I passed out at work and
died then the ambulance revived me. She cried. I was in a coma for 3
days and when I woke up she was holding my hand. I smiled at her and
told her I loved her. I didnt know what was going on until the doctor
explained it to me. That night I lay in my hospital bed, starring at
her, kissing her hand. Our eyes met and I squeezed her hand, a tear
ran down her cheek, "its okay," I told her. "Its not! I dont want it
to end like this, I cant let it," she cried. Tears then ran down my
cheeks, "its okay to let go, sweetie. Its alright to let me go. It'll
all be okay, you can go on. You have your whole life ahead of you, im
just a chapter in your life, its okay to let go now, sweetie," i said.
She continued crying, I kissed her cheek, feeling a sharp, cold
feeling inside.

stories, - The Silent Love
I was in a hospital there in Bharatpur, Nepal to see my beloved
brother who is suffering from a malignancy. They, the doctors told me
for the operation of my brother and it would take more than a couple
of month for him to be able to get discharge slip. On the day of
admission I saw a girl in nice dress, she was looking very beautiful
and attractive. I looked at her eyes and she to mine just than she
left the hospital.
After three or four days I saw her again but at that time she was in
the white dress of Nurse, that was enough for to be surprised. She was
looking more beautiful in that dress than in the out dress. Then I
started to look her, her eyes are such like pearl and her face is just
like, you know, most beautiful in the world. I got her name from other
staffs and it is just a great name which when I hear I just remember
her very much. Her smile is a great deal which I am dying to see. Her
lips are like tasty slices of mango. I tried to speak to her very
often but I couldn't, I don't know why I couldn't at I one thing that
I know is that I like her very much and still I like. If I, these
days, get a chance to meet her I will certainly meet her. I just want
to say her that I like her very much. I wanna say her that I want to
hug her tight, want to kiss her, I want to make her to feel me because
I want to feel her, I want to feel her heart.
I want to touch her, I wanna say her that I Love her. She also used to
look at me and my eyes. Whenever she had to speak to of she would
speak very politely which appreciate the most. I liked her because her
behaviours were great to me and to the patients. So I had sometime
felt that she also had liked me and I'm living by hoping that she miss
me as I miss her every day, every moment, every second but problem is
that I fear to talk to her because I fear to hear on from her I think
she won't ignore me but I really dear her ignore to me so I'll never
tell her. If she is dying too to say me as I am, then that is what
we'll one day meet at the dawn and will kiss each other and will say I
LOVE YOU.
Hope she will read this and will know who the writter is, Bless of God
for me and for her.

stories, - In Search of Love
Friends, to be honest I never had any interest in love nor I intended
to love anyone but when I was in tenth standard, National High School,
in Bidar, i.e. is in 2004-05 I saw a girl who was fabulous to look at,
I don't know what happen? I just felt thrilled inside seeing her, she
seemed like an Angel came to Earth straight from Heaven. I was stunned
watching her cute face, twinkling eyes, soft red rosy lips, her short
hairs neatly combed, a streak down to her cheek and whenever it fell
on her eyes, she blew it gently, I could sense the warmth in her hair
and the way she plunked her hair behind an ear, Damn Hell! She killed
me...
Day by day love for her in my heart was growing deeper and stronger,
her image floated in my head as I reached home and I was dying to see
her again and again all my life, it was my luck that she was from our
school and even exciting news was she was my classmate. I went mad in
her thoughts. I and my friends' Avinash & Guru one night while passing
her Home screamed her name and stopped ahead, to see her come out but
to our surprise no one came to check who it was? After a couple of
days I came to know the fact that they had gone to their native and
home was locked, we Guru& Avi didn't notice it. Time ran as fast as
metro train.
Meanwhile in the month of January 2005 our school had arranged a
picnic to CHAKUR which is in Maharashtra 180kms from Bidar. There were
two buses which separated boys and girls while leaving Bidar, I think
it was the Bad idea of our Headmaster nicknamed "Daku". After three
hours of journey we reached our destination Chakur.
It was a wonderful place having each and every thing, say All in One.
A big lake, small hill covered with meadows, a train, boating etc. We
enjoyed peddle boating for more than an hour. She and her friends were
at the centre of lake in other boat, when we went close to them it was
astonishing that all begin to fling water from lake at each other; all
were wet now including me. I was lucky to watch her in her wet dress
which was sticking to her body, Oh God I was on cloud number nine.
Later we had the rounds in train, played many other exciting games and
at noon we had the lunch that we had brought our home, shared it among
us, it was the sweetest lunch ever I had in my life. I got a binocular
from a junior friend and it was an army binocular of his father. I and
my friend sudheep watched all especially girls. I was gazing at her
through binocular standing on a hill, I say you friends it was simply
Awesome they were probably 200 meters far from us below the hill, it
seemed just like a 3D film that has made a great fuss nowadays. I felt
that she stood before me very close. She was dressed in Light green
salwar and a black kameez, yellow flowers sketched on it, wore Blue
Sandals. I wanted to stare at all the day but my friend sudheep
snatched it from me, idiot...
My friends knew about me and noticed what I was doing, so they boosted
me to propose her, said it's the perfect and great opportunity, don't
miss it else you would suffer a lot. I knew I would be unable to spell
even a word to her. Hence I had a couple of White Mischief vodka wine
shots so that it doesn't smell and give me some courage. I went to
her, she was standing near ice-cream parlor, she didn't notice me, and
I went still closer shivering, summoned some courage and called her
'Pratima', she turned towards me and asked 'yes what'? Unable to say
'ILU' I was quite for few seconds, I was unable to think or reply and
she again asked 'yeah what's the matter tell me? Nothing special just
wanted to talk to you, well how was the day? I asked, Oh, it was a
very nice, had a lot of enjoyment and fun which I had never before
this, a precious memorable day in my life which would never come
again, she said'.
You said true it would never come again, can I have some water? I
asked and while she gave bottle our hands held hand in hand for
nanoseconds, ugh! I was in Heaven, and then drank some water saying
thanks came back to our gang where I was screwed by my friends. While
returning contrary to my friends' thinking instead of being sad, I was
happy, the happiest man on the earth as I talked to my girl for the
first time in the period of seven months and I danced for first time
to the super hit blockbuster movie 'Dhoom and Arya', everyone danced
with full excitement to "Dhoom machale, dhoom machale, dhoom and aa
ante amalapuram". Thanks to Sunil and my friends who had arranged it
in government bus.
Those were the best days of my life and if I had my choice yeah, I
wanna be there. I tell you friends this picnic day was the most
memorable and longest of all my School days. Each moment, each event
is vivid and fresh in my mind as if it happened yesterday. ...
Soon our send-off function came near and everyone was busy in taking
autographs, purchasing new dress and shoes etc however I was not
worried about those things and came as usual. I was astounded to see
her pretty face all the time and she was blushing. I could see the
love in her eyes, passion was lightening fire within me, seeing her in
Red sarree with matching Bangles, Earrings, a watch on left hand and
dark red nail polish on her toenails, What shall I say guys, I have
lost the words. She appeared like a Red Red Rose.
And it was my bad luck that, it was the last day, last time forever I
saw her. Soon after completing exams they had shifted to Mysore as
their father was transferred, one of my friends gave me this Shocking
news. It's said "First love is always the best love", yeah it's true
it can never happen again. Mine was also the best love apart from one
thing that, it was one way. My friends suggest me every now and then:
why are you running behind the missing girl, why are you pounding for
the girl whom you can't see. But my heart feels she may be misplaced
but my love is not lost and would never vanish, until my last breath
goes out... Yes of course, I'm eager to see her, talk to her and I hope
one or the other day I would meet her again for sure very soon, if not
I have already met her, talked to her that's more than enough. In my
opinion love doesn't mean to have romance, it's something beyond it.
For me it is to, discover ourselves in others and a way of Silent
Meditation.

Welcome to Islam, - The Islamic concept of history
According to the Quran, Allaah )God( has created the universe with a
certain purpose, and all its parts are strictly under His control,
carrying out His divine scheme without the slightest deviation.
Similarly, man too has been created with a certain purpose. Yet man,
is completely free to do what he wants, and act upon his own
decisions. However, in spite of this freedom, he is watched constantly
by Allaah, for He does not allow any such deviation over a long period
that would nullify the plan of His creation.
Creation plan of Allaah
The universe made by Allaah is so vast that, despite the enormous
progress made by human beings in their attempts to fathom the
universe, many of its secrets still remain unknown. The planet Earth,
made by Allaah as part of the cosmos is unique in the entire universe,
in that it has been endowed with an atmosphere and all the other
factors, which are essential to make it habitable for man.
After creating a favorable world in the form of the Earth, Allaah
created the first man Aadam )Adam(, may Allaah exalt his mention, and
his feminine counterpart, Eve. Although the precise date of this event
is unknown, it is a fact that the first pair of human beings to set
foot on earth were Aadam, may Allaah exalt his mention, and Eve.
Aadam was the first man as well as the first Prophet. The way of
Allaah is to select a man as His Messenger from amongst human beings
themselves, in order to send His revelations to humankind. Therefore,
Allaah revealed to Aadam, may Allaah exalt his mention, through an
angel the purpose of man's inhabiting the earth. According to this
plan, Allaah created a creature in the form of man, upon whom He
bestowed freedom. Where the rest of the universe had no choice but to
submit to the will of Allaah, it is desirable for man to opt for this
divine plan of his own free will.
This plan of divine will is based on two basic principles: Monotheism
and Justice. Monotheism holds man to worshipping one God alone, and
not associating anyone or anything in this worship. Justice holds man
to adhering completely to ethical principles in dealing with other
human beings, and refraining from all kinds of injustice and
oppression.
Along with this, Allaah Almighty informed man that, although he
appeared to be free, he was fully accountable to Him. Allaah has a
complete record of man's actions. In the eternal life after death
Allaah would judge everyone according to this record. The one who
exercised his freedom wrongly would be thrown into eternal hellfire.
Aadam, may Allaah exalt his mention, died at a ripe old age. For a
long period his people continued to adhere faithfully to the divine
guidance. However, later, idolatry replaced Monotheism and people
began to adopt the ways of injustice and oppression instead of justice
and rectitude. After about 1000 years, the perversion became so all
pervading that they were completely distanced from the path of the
Sharee'ah )Divine Law( as shown by Aadam, may Allaah exalt his
mention.
The age of perversion
Allaah subsequently sent Nooh )Noah(, may Allaah exalt his mention, as
His Messenger. He was granted an exceptionally long life of 950 years,
during which he continued to show people the right path, generation
after generation. However, only a few people heeded his words. The
rest persisted in their sinful ways. Then, in accordance with the ways
of Allaah, a huge flood engulfed them by way of punishment. Nooh
)Noah(, may Allaah exalt his mention, and his small band of followers
were saved in a boat, while all the rest drowned.
At that time, human population was probably concentrated only in the
region of Asia known asMesopotamia. The men and women saved in the
wake of this flood settled afterwards in other parts of the world.
Their race multiplied until it spread over the three continents of
Asia, Africa andEurope.
After the death of Nooh )Noah(, may Allaah exalt his mention, his
people continued to adhere to the divine path shown by him, for a
considerable period of time. However, again rot set in the later
generations and they deviated from the path of Monotheism and justice.
Allaah's Messengers, may Allaah exalt their mention, -- the Quran has
mentioned twenty five by name -- continued to come for several
thousand years.
A Hadeeth )saying of Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam,
)may Allaah exalt his mention( tells us that nearly 100,000 messengers
came to the world. In this way a long period elapsed between Aadam,
may Allaah exalt his mention, and 'Eesaa )Jesus(, may Allaah exalt his
mention; whereas earlier Allaah's Messengers continued to come to the
world in almost every generation. However, only a few people believed
in them while the majority rejected these prophets in every age.
The reasons for perversion
What were the reasons for this continued transgression? There were two
main reasons: political absolutism and ignorance about the world of
nature.
In ancient times the system of monarchy prevailed everywhere. The
kings of those days had adopted an easy strategy for the consolidation
of their empire, and that was to apply a complete curb on intellectual
freedom. As a result, Science could not make any progress in the days
of old.
The same was the case with religion. The policy adopted by these kings
was not to allow their subjects to follow any religion other than that
approved of by the king. Superstitious religion served their purpose
only too well. Therefore, not only did they themselves embrace
superstitious religion, they also compelled their subjects to adhere
to it. People were denied the right to think freely and opt for any
religion other than the official one.
This policy of the king produced the evil of religious persecution.
History shows that religious persecution has continued from time
immemorial in one form or another.
The other factor was ignorance. In ancient times, man knew too little
about the world and its phenomena. Political absolutism had placed an
almost total ban on scientific research. Therefore, all kinds of
superstitions prevailed regarding natural phenomena. It was generally
held that the Sun, Moon and the stars possessed supernatural powers.
Similarly, it was believed that the sea, mountains and other such
natural features were endowed with some extraordinary, mysterious
power that exercised decisive control over human destiny.
The problem of evil
Those who want to interpret human history in the light of
predetermined law, as is done in the physical world, are doomed to
failure. While the physical world may be explainable within the
framework of pre-determinism, the events of the human world are simply
not amenable to interpretation in terms of any such law.
Others want to interpret the events of the human world in the context
of freedom, but they are not satisfied either with their
interpretation. This is because in spite of human freedom, the
suffering experienced in this world has no valid understandable
explanation. The failure of both these interpretations is due to the
fact that they attempt to explain the whole in the light of a part --
which is simply not possible.
The truth is that the right principle by which to interpret human
history is neither that of pre-determinism nor of freedom. According
to Islam, there is only one correct principle to interpret human
history and that is the principle of test. Man has been placed in the
present world for the purpose of being tested. The eternal future of
humankind will depend on the outcome of this test.
If everything had been completely predetermined in the world, the
element of trial would have been absent. Granting freedom to people
did involve the risk of some people misusing their freedom, which gave
rise to the problem of human suffering. Suffering results from evil,
yet this suffering or evil, is a very small price to pay for a very
precious thing. Although, man has a will, the will of Almighty Allaah
encompasses all wills, so nothing happens in the universe unless
Allaah ordained for it to happen.
According to Islam that person is most precious who leads his life in
this world in such a manner that, despite facing all sorts of
temptations, he succeeds in overcoming them. Despite having the power
to misuse his freedom, he refrains from doing so. Despite the
possibility of leading an unprincipled life, he chooses his own free
will to be a man of principle. To identify such individuals, it is
essential that an atmosphere of freedom prevail in the world. This is
not possible under any other system.

Welcome to Islam, - Prophethood: the root of the west-Islam contention
An economist had once said: "Today, the only and the biggest threat to
Western civilization is the faith and commitment of the Muslims to
their Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam which is the
source of unlimited strength for them."
Let us now briefly examine how.
1. The theoretical basis of Western civilization and the so-called
modernism is that humankind has now attained intellectual maturity. It
is no more dependent on any metaphysical being for knowledge and
guidance. It is self-sufficient and independent of any divine source
and concept, which it adopted in early days for its inner contentment.
On the contrary, the basis of prophethood is absolute knowledge and
faith in the existence of the Creator )Allaah, the Most High and
Exalted(. True knowledge and even life itself are the creation of
Allaah, Who is the only Creator, the Sole Sustainer and Healer. All
authority and sovereign powers belong to Him and Him alone. He is the
One Who guides people and provides them with the code of life.
Humankind is dependent on Him and exists under His domain as His
servants. The Quran, the infallible Word of Allaah, offers proofs to
the disbelievers and deniers of the existence of the Creator --
materialists and naturalists -- which rational minds have no option
but to affirm, and which no sound mind can possibly reject. In the
Quran, Allaah, The Exalted, Says )what means(:
"Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators ]of
themselves[? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather,
they are not certain."]Quran 52: 35-36[
The Quran says to them: You exist, and you cannot deny this; the
heavens and the earth exist, beyond any doubt. It is simply common
sense, to the rational mind, that the things that exist must have a
cause for their existence. The camel herder in the desert knows this.
He says: ''Camel dung indicates the presence of a camel and footsteps
indicate that someone walked here. Similarly, the heavens with their
stars and the earth with its mountains and valleys must indicate the
existence of the All-Knowing, All-Aware )i.e. Allaah Almighty(." The
greatest scientists who research life and living beings also know
this.
What is referred to in this verse, is known to scientists as the law
of cause and effect. This law states that a thing cannot happen by
itself without another thing )causing it(, because it does not possess
in itself the power to exist by itself, and it cannot by itself cause
something else to exist, for it cannot give to others that which it
does not possess itself.
2. According to Western epistemology, the source of true knowledge is
only the human sense of perception, its reasoning, observation,
experience and scientific investigation. Obviously, the knowledge
based on these sources is always hypothetical. Any statement or fact,
which is proved to be true today, may be proved false tomorrow.
Moreover, if any statement is unquestionable, this method does not
consider it knowledge, but a 'belief' or 'faith'. No such knowledge in
this world can be said to be certain and ultimate, let alone taken as
a yardstick for truth on which people may rely and follow for
salvation.
On the contrary, the prophethood of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa
sallam, develops and creates the insight and consciousness that there
is an ultimate truth and the only source of it is the Divine
Revelation. In turn, this proves the prophethood of Muhammad,
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, as Almighty Allaah Says about His
Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, )what means(:"Nor
does he speak from ]his own[ inclination. It is not but a revelation
revealed."]Quran 53: 3-4[
The West has completely abandoned the concept of truth and falsehood.
Even the use of such terminology is considered outmoded and uncivil by
them. However, to the followers of the Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu
'alayhi wa sallam, these terms are full of meaning.
3. The Western view is that truth and falsehood are relative terms.
Nothing can be right or wrong in itself. Thus, be it moral values,
social rules, regulations or laws, good or bad, useful or harmful,
Halaal )lawful( or Haraam )unlawful(, everything is determined by an
individual's own views and choice about it. Every individual is his
own arbiter. However, to the followers of Muhammad, sallallaahu
'alayhi wa sallam, things and matters which have been qualified true
or false; allowed or disallowed through Divine Verdict cannot be
changed by a person's will, choice, experience, argument or logic.
4. Western civilization does not entertain metaphysical knowledge and
its source in its theory of life. Neither does it own the concepts of
Allaah, the Angels, the Revelation and the life in the Hereafter.
On the contrary, the followers of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa
sallam, believe that the significance and purpose of human existence
can only be gathered through a revealed source. To them, the facts,
which have been revealed through the prophethood of Muhammad,
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, are the truth.
5. The world and the worldly life are equally important and of deep
interest to both Westerners and the followers of Muhammad, sallallaahu
'alayhi wa sallam. The difference lies in the objectives that are
sought by them. While the main target of a Westerner is to seek
happiness, comfort, enjoyment and a better quality of life, the
interest of a Muslim lies in the welfare of fellow humans in order to
earn salvation in the Hereafter. The latter perception brings in its
fold a humble and peaceful human society.
Welcome to Islam, - Prophethood: the perception of realities
Everyone who desires the dominance of Islam and who strives for that
cause, should realize the importance of the prophethood of Muhammad,
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, )may Allaah exalt his mention( and the
decisive role it has to play in today's conflict of civilizations.
They should address the issue by re-determining priorities and
strategies. The following factors should be kept in mind while
evaluating the situation:
1- The perception of eternal finality
We must understand the present social milieu in which we are striving
for the practice and dominance of Islam. It is definitely different
and 1400 years away from the time of the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi
wa sallam, despite the fact that the efforts being made are a
continuation of the same prophetic mission.
Muslims must understand that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam,
was not appointed a prophet for any particular nation or era. Rather,
he was sent to humanity as a whole, irrespective of time and place.
From the 6th century to the 21st century CE and even beyond, until
the Day of Judgment, Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, will
remain the only prophet. This statement, although simple, has
far-reaching connotations. It is obligatory that the message of
Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, be continuously delivered in
the manner done in his time.
2- The perception of an immortal message
We should concede that the example of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa
sallam, is still present amongst us. This is because the Divine Book
that he, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, brought is still intact, and
the minutest details of his life are preserved in the Sunnah
)Prophetic traditions(, and his Deen )Divine way of life( has spread
all over the world through his followers.
Consequently, it is incumbent on Muslims to continue with the mission
launched by him, considering it a responsibility bestowed by Allaah.
3- The true perception of prophethood
Muslims must recognize that to combat the Jaahiliyyah )pre-Islamic
period of ignorance( during the era of the Prophet, sallallaahu
'alayhi wa sallam, it was important to demand commitment towards his
prophethood. Although faith in Allaah comes first and is the essence
of the Islamic way of life, yet faith in the Prophet, sallallaahu
'alayhi wa sallam, is equally important and decisive. Belief in God
is the basic premise of all Prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention,
and cradles the purpose of prophethood; yet, it is only by believing
in a prophet that one can yield to the concept of Allaah. Thus, only
that belief and concept of Allaah is acceptable which is based on the
declaration and description provided by the Prophet Muhammad,
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
Just as the Quran is believed to be the revealed Word of Allaah
without any reservations, similarly, the prophethood of Muhammad,
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is also beyond any doubt. These two
facts have to be taken as granted, otherwise, there cannot be a
rational and sound interpretation of the concepts of Halaal and Haraam
)lawful and unlawful(, Waajibaat and Manhiyyaat )obligations and
prohibitions(, Athaab and Thawaab )penalty and reward(. Practically
then, faith and obedience to the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa
sallam, is equivalent to the obedience of Allaah and is the only way
to seek the pleasure and proximity of Allaah.
4- Importance of the belief in prophethood
Belief in the prophethood should be given due importance and priority
in all our efforts of Da'wah and Jihaad )striving for the supremacy of
Allaah's injunctions(. Otherwise, mere belief in Allaah would become
meaningless, because the Jews and Christians too claimed to be
believers of one God, and the Quran itself has praised the excellence
of Ibaadah )worship( and Akhlaaq )moral dignity( of some of them, yet
they incurred Allaah's wrath simply because they denied belief in the
prophethood.
5- Belief in prophethood is a source of Allaah's help
Belief in prophethood is decisive because the promise of Allaah's
help, salvation and victory is with the Prophets, may Allaah exalt
their mention, and with those who truly believe in the prophethood,
sincerely follow prophetic teachings, become helpers in their mission
and struggle to establish Allaah's Deen )code of life(. The Quran says
)what means(:"And verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for our
slaves, -- the Messengers, that they verily would be made triumphant.
And that Our hosts would be victors."]Quran 35: 171-173[
6- The message of love and peace
The eternal struggle of the prophetic mission against the mischief of
unbelievers, which has now taken the shape of a conflict between Islam
and the West, is, in fact, a struggle for winning over the hearts and
minds of people. Winning over the hearts of people would result in the
supremacy and dominance of Islam -- the true religion of Allaah. Force
can conquer land, acquire money and goods, seize political power but
it cannot win people's minds and hearts. Similarly, argument can earn
support but it can never secure commitment, devotion and readiness to
face sacrifices in life. There is only one way to win over hearts: a
firm belief in the prophethood of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa
sallam, full devotion to his mission, love and reverence for him and
complete obedience and commitment to follow him in all aspects of
life. This is how people's hearts have been won in the past and will
be won in the future.
We should strive to prove that Islam is the true religion which
presents a complete code of life; warn people about the curse of
interest or usury and the dangers of un-Islamic economic systems, and
highlight the beauty of the Islamic social, political, economic and
family system. However, we should never forget that the purpose of all
these pursuits is to create favorable conditions and a conducive
environment for upholding the cause of Truth.
If people admit all Islamic values but refuse to believe in the
prophethood of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, the way to
achieve success in the war of civilizations will remain obstructed.
There are many people who praise Islam, eulogize Islamic arts and
architecture, applaud Islamic spiritualism and mysticism but, still,
are not ready to follow the Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa
sallam, as they do not believe in his prophethood! Such people,
therefore, can never be regarded as aides and supporters of the
prophetic mission.
Similarly, even if we supply ample proof that Islam ensures human
rights more than any other ideology; that it not only upholds women's
rights but has given them a status which was inconceivable earlier,
even in the West; and that the penal code of Islam is not cruel, but
sympathetic and compassionate to the people and society, it would
still not enhance the prospects of winning over people's hearts.
Arguments of logic and intellect cannot serve the purpose either. What
is needed is a firm and unshakable belief in the prophethood of
Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, and a pure flow of love for
him more than anything else.
Thus, the biggest objective before us should be to give top priority
to the Da'wah towards the prophethood of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi
wa sallam. It does not mean that we start telling people that they are
infidels or transgressors if they do not believe that Muhammad,
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is the true prophet of Allaah.
By this we mean:
Employing all the possible means -- especially modern means of
communication -- to tell the world about the unparalleled beauty of
the Prophet's character, pleasing features of his personality, his

sincerity and devotion, to work towards bringing people close to the
Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam and his mission. An equal
amount of time and resources must be spent in disseminating the
teachings of Islam, and highlighting the personality, life, character
and moral excellence of the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
Those who get closer to the source of illumination will automatically
find their minds and hearts opening in the warmth and light. The more
the people believe in the prophethood of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi

Dought&clear, - What is thedifference between compensation (diyah) and theft (sariqah) when it comes to the hand?
What is the reason why the hand may be cut off for stealing
one-quarter of a dinar but the diyah (compensation) for the hand [in
cases of injury etc.] may be 500 dinars?
Ibn al-Qayyim said:
The fact that the hand may be cut off for stealing one-quarter of a
dinar but the diyah (compensation) for the hand [in cases of injury
etc.] may be 500 dinars serves a great interest, and there is a great
deal of wisdom behind this. It serves to take precautions concerning
two things, people's wealth and people's limbs. Cutting off the hand
in the case of theft of a quarter of a dinar is to protect people's
wealth. Making the diyah for injury to the hand 500 dinars is to
protect and preserve people's limbs. One of the heretics raised this
question and mentioned it in two verses of poetry, saying:
"A hand receives five hundred dinars' compensation, so why can it be
chopped off for one-quarter of a dinar?
This is a contradiction we can only keep quiet about, and we seek the
protection of our Lord from disgrace."
One of the fuqahaa' answered him by saying that the hand is precious
so long as it is honest, but when it becomes dishonest it becomes
worthless. And the poet mentioned it by saying:
"A hand receives five hundred dinars' compensation, so why can it be
chopped off for one-quarter of a dinar?
Protection against physical aggression makes the hand precious, but
the hand becomes worthless when it becomes dishonest."
And it was narrated that al-Shaafa'i responded by saying in verse:
"There is aggression against the hand, therefore it is precious, but
here the hand is the wrongdoer, so it becomes insignificant in the
sight of the Creator."

Dought&clear, - Does this hadeeth contradict the principle of equality and justice in Islam?
How sound is the following hadeeth, which was narrated by Abu Dawood
and others: "Forgive the people of good character for their mistakes"?
I have read that some people are not sure about it because it
contradicts the Qur'aan and its verses which call for equality and
justice.
Praise be to Allaah.
This hadeeth was narrated by Imam Ahmad, Abu Dawood, al-Nasaa'i,
al-Bayhaqi and others from 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her),
who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
said: "Forgive the people of good character for their mistakes, except
in cases of hadd punishments."
It has other isnaads which are not free of faults, but when taken
together render the hadeeth hasan.
What is meant by the hadeeth is that it is recommended not to take
people of good character to task if they slip up or make mistakes
which are out of character, except in cases where a hadd punishment is
required and news of the sin reaches the ruler, in which case the hadd
punishment must be carried out.
What is meant by "people of good character" is ordinary people who
possess an honourable attitude and other praiseworthy characteristics,
those who are always obedient and are known for their good character,
but who may slip sometimes and commit sins. This meaning was narrated
by Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) who said: The Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not call the pious who
worship a great deal "people of good character" and this phrase is not
used in the words of Allaah or His Messenger to describe the obedient
and pious. It seems that it refers to those who are respected among
the people for their status and high position. Allaah has singled them
out for a kind of honour above others of their kind, meaning that if a
person is modest and of good character, but then he slips up and the
Shaytaan overpowers him briefly (and makes him do something out of
character), we should not hasten to rebuke him and punish him, rather
his mistake should be forgiven, provided that it does not involve
transgressing one of the sacred limits of Allaah (for which a hadd
punishment is required), because the hadd punishment must be carried
out regardless of whether the one who deserves it is regarded as
honourable or ignoble. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) said: "Those who came before you were destroyed because if a
nobleman among them stole they would let him off, but if a weak and
insignificant person stole they would carry out the punishment on him.
By Allaah, if Faatimah the daughter of Muhammad were to steal, I would
cut off her hand." Saheeh - agreed upon. This highlights one of the
wonderful aspects of this perfect sharee'ah.
End quote.
From the above it may be understood that the meaning of this hadeeth
does not contradict the principle of equality and justice in Islam,
rather it encourages overlooking sins and mistakes that are not
subject to hadd punishments if they are committed by people who do not
ordinarily do such things, and if not imposing a ta'zeer punishment
will not lead to further trouble.

but who may slip sometimes and commit sins.
Dought&clear, - Ijmaa' (scholarly consensus): definition, types and conditions
Praise be to Allah.
Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
In linguistic terms, ijmaa' means resolve and agreement.
In shar'i terms, it means the agreement of the mujtahids of this ummah
after the death of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon
him) on a shar'i ruling.
By saying "agreement" we exclude differences of opinion; if there is a
difference of opinion, even from one person, then we cannot say that
there is ijmaa'.
By saying "the mujtahids" we exclude the common folk and those who
follow or imitate scholars; it does not matter whether they agree or
disagree.
By saying "this ummah" we exclude the consensus of others, which
carries no weight.
By saying "after the death of the Prophet (blessings and peace of
Allah be upon him)" we exclude their agreement at the time of the
Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him); ijmaa' or
consensus at that time does not count as evidence, because evidence is
established by the Sunnah of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah
be upon him), whether in word or deed or by approval. Hence if a
Sahaabi says "We used to do" or that they (i.e., people) used to do
such and such at the time of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah
be upon him), this is indicative of the approval of the Prophet
(blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), according to consensus.
By saying "on a shar'i ruling", we exclude their agreement on a
rational or human ruling, which has nothing to do with the matter
under discussion, because we are talking about looking for ijmaa' as
one of the kinds of shar'i evidence.
Ijmaa' counts as evidence on the basis of a number of pieces of
evidence, including the following:
1. The verse in which Allah, may He be exalted, says
(interpretation of the meaning):"Thus We have made you (Muslims), a
Wasat (just) (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over
mankind" [al-Baqarah 2:143]. The words "witnesses over mankind"
include testifying about their deeds and judging their deeds, and the
words of the witness may be accepted.
2. The verse in which Allah, says (interpretation of the
meaning):"(And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves"
[an-Nisa'4:59]indicate that whatever they agreed upon is sound and
correct.
3. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
"My ummah will not unanimously agree on misguidance."
4. We say: If the ummah unanimously agrees on something, it must
be either true or false. If it is true, then it is proof. If it is
false, how can this ummah, which is the dearest of nations to Allah
since the time of its Prophet until the onset of the Hour, agree on
something false with which Allah is not pleased? This is quite
impossible.
Types of ijmaa'
Ijmaa' is of two types: definitive and presumptive.
1. Definitive is that which well known and well established, such
as consensus that the five daily prayers are obligatory and that zina
(fornication, adultery) is haraam. No one can deny that this type of
ijmaa' is proven and established, or that it constitutes proof in and
of itself, or that the one who rejects it becomes a kaafir, unless he
is ignorant and may be excused for his ignorance.
2. Presumptive is that which can only be known by means of
research and study, where the scholars may differ as to whether is
ijmaa' (on a particular issue) or not. The most correct scholarly
opinion concerning that is the view of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah,
when he said inal-'Aqeedah al-Waasitiyyah: The type of ijmaa' that is
to be accepted is that of the righteous early generations (as-salaf
as-saalih), because after their time there was a great deal of
disagreement and the ummah spread far and wide. End quote.
It should be noted that the ummah cannot agree on something that is
contrary to an unabrogated, clear, saheeh text, because it can only
agree on what is true. If you see consensus that you think is contrary
to that, then it must be one of the following: either the evidence is
not clear, or it is not saheeh, or it is abrogated, or there is a
difference of opinion concerning the matter of which you were not
aware.
Conditions of ijmaa':
There are certain conditions for ijmaa', such as:
1. It should be soundly proven in the sense that it is either well
known among the scholars or transmitted by a trustworthy narrator who
has read widely.
2. It should not have been preceded by a well-known difference of
opinion. If that was the case, then there is no ijmaa', because
scholarly opinions are not invalidated by the death of their authors.
Ijmaa' does not cancel out a previous difference of opinion; rather it
prevents differences of opinion from arising.
This is the most correct view, because of the strength of its argument.
And it was said that the second condition is not stipulated, so it is
valid in a later period for there to be consensus on one of the
previous opinions and for that to serve as proof for those who come
afterwards.
According to the majority, it is not essential that those who
unanimously agree all die when still holding this view for ijmaa' to
be established; rather ijmaa' is established as soon as they (the
scholars of a particular era) agree, and it is not permissible for
them or anyone else to go against it after that, because the condition
for the establishment of ijmaa' do not include any stipulation that
the era (of the scholars who reached this consensus) should have come
to an end with their passing. As ijmaa' is established at the moment
they agree (on a particular issue), there is nothing that could cancel
it out.
If one of the mujtahids (scholars) says or does something and that
becomes well known among the mujtahids, and they do not denounce it
even though they are able to do so, then it is said that there is
ijmaa'. It was said that this establishes that there is ijmaa'; others
said that it is may be regarded as proof but not ijmaa'; and others
said that it is neither ijmaa' nor proof. And it was said that if they
all passed away before denouncing it then it is ijmaa', because their
silence until the time of their death, even though they were able to
denounce it, constitutes proof of their agreement. This is the view
that is most likely to be correct.
