From a tiny drop that becomes an embryo, the girl-child is born to be
an honored part of God's plan.God states in the Muslim holy book, the
Qur'an:
"O humankind! Be conscious of your Lord Who created you from a single
soul, and out of it created its mate, and out of the two spread
countless men and women.Be conscious of your Lord through Whom you
demand your mutual rights and honor the wombs; God always watches over
you." (Qur'an 4:1)
According to the Qur'an, there was a Garden of Eden. There was a
forbidden tree, but no apple, no snake, and certainly no fault on Eve
alone. Both Adam and Eve sinned at the same time. They felt shame,
repented, and were forgiven together. God provided them with guidance,
showing them a way back to Him.
"Each soul earns on its ownaccount: and no bearer of burden shall bear
the burden of another." (Qur'an6:164)
"If any do deeds of righteousness, whether male or female, and have
faith, they will enter Paradise and not the least injustice will be
done to them." (Qur'an 4:124)
The sole purpose and existence of both men and women is to worship God
through faith and good deeds, fulfilling their role as God's honorable
trusteesand witnesses on this earth.// - -|

*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -*
-
Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Some of the Benefits of Eating the Fig Fruit
Dried figs contain a high amount of soluble fiber. What's good about
it is that it absorbs water in your intestine, bulk the food, makes it
easy to move through the bowel and thus prevents constipation. It is
helpful intreating diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome. Fiber also
slows down the rate of glucose digestion and absorption in the
bloodstream and will help control blood sugar levels for diabetics.
And because fiber binds with cholesterol, eating fig may help support
normal cholesterol levels.
Figs contain carotenoids namely beta carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin.
Betacarotene is beneficial for vision and eye health. Lutein and
zeaxanthin from natural source are always found together. They are
helpful in reducing the risk of macular degeneration which is one of
the leading causes of blindness in the elderly.
Dried figs contain a high amount of calcium. So, the benefits of
eating the fig fruit include building and maintaining healthy bones
and preventing osteoporosis. Calcium may also prevent PMS, high blood
pressure and high cholesterol. And together with the presence of
magnesium, eating figs support strong teeth and bones.
The B vitamins present in the fig fruit are beneficial for brain
function, the production of antibody, improving circulation and many
other bodily functions.
Women and girls will benefit from eating fig because it contains iron
and it helps replace iron that is lost in the blood during
menstruation. Girls between the ages of 14 to 18 require 15mg of iron
per day and adult women who are not pregnant and below the age of 50
need 18mg per day which is a lot less compared to the RDA for men.
Figs are also high in potassium content. The National Library of
Medicine suggests that a person consumes 2 to 2.5 grams of potassium a
day. You can get some of the potassium your body needs when you eat
figs. Potassium is necessary for proper kidney functions, skeletal and
heart muscle contractions and in reducing the risk of hypokalemia
which amongthe symptoms include abnormal heart rhythms, breakdown of
muscle fibers and fatigue.
Fig leaves have medicinal values too. Drinking a decoction of the
leaves stimulates appetite and digestion in the stomach and may lower
blood sugarin people with type 1 diabetes when used with the correct
insulin dosage. Fig leaves release certain chemicals when added to
boiling water and it is usedas a steam bath to provide relief from
painful or swollen piles or hemorrhoids.

The Keys to Goodness
--
بسم الله الرØمن الرØيم
From amongst people are those who are keys to good and closers of
evil. There are also those who are – we seek refuge in Allaah – keys
to evil and closers of good. This is according to their condition of
good or evil. Every vessel will dispense what is present within it.
It is recorded in Ibnu Majah as well as Ibn Abi 'Asim in as-Sunnah,
and other than them, on the authority of Anas ibnu Malik that the
Messenger of Allaah salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said:
Indeed from the people are people who are keys to open the good for
the people, and to lock away the evil. And indeed from the people are
people whoare keys to lock away and block the good, and they open up
the evil for the people. So Tooba (glad tidings; scholars have also
defined this word Tooba to be a tree in Paradise) is for the one whom
Allaah subhanahu wa ta'aala places the keys of good at his hands. And
woe be to the one whom Allaah has placed the keys of evil at his
disposal.
[Hasan hadeeth, Ibn Majah: 237; as-Sunnah by Ibn Abi 'Asim: 297]
The Imaams of guidance, the callers to the Sunnah, the supports of the
religion, and the carriers of knowledge – those who call the people to
guidanceand are patient upon harm, those who bring life to the dead by
means of the Bookof Allaah and bring sight tothe blind by the light of
Allaah – they are the *keys to good.*
Imam As-Sa'dee (rahimahullaah), describing The Keys to Good , said:
From the most important factors is learning beneficial knowledge and
spreading it. Verily, this is the key to all good. From this is
enjoining the good and forbidding the evil with gentleness, kindness
and wisdom. An example of this is a servant performing a good practice
and starting a beneficial task in order that the people follow him in
doing so.
[From Abee Hurayrah (radiyAllaahu 'anhu) that the Messenger of Allaah
(salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Whoever calls to guidance has a
reward like the example ofthe reward of those who follow him, not
decreasing their reward in any way. And whoever calls to misguidance
has upon him the sin like the example of the sin of thosewho follow
him, not decreasing their sin in anyway." Narrated by Muslim, no.
2674.]
Another example is giving valuable advice and sincerity in the
religion, or in worldly affairs. Verily, those who advise are keys to
good and blockers of evil.
Imam As-Sa'dee also mentioned those who are keys to good take
advantage of the opportunity of gatherings by busying them with good –
and away from evil.
So when the desire for good becomes the focal point of the individual,
and his intention is determined on accomplishing his goal according to
his ability, he seeks assistance from Allaah in fulfilling his goals,
he approaches affairs in the correct manner and fashion and,as a
result, he will continue to gain good and reap reward. And the
opposite of this is lack of desire for good; much good escapes this
person. If lack of sincerity and advice for others is coupledwith
this, and he doesn't intend to benefit others in any fashion – in
fact, he may actually desire to harm and deceive them to accomplish
personal goals or corrupt beliefs – at that time, he has indeed come
with the greatest means of[harm] and elimination of good. He has
become one who deserves to be called 'a key to evil' and a blocker of
good. We seek refuge in Allaah from the evil of ourselves and of
ouractions.

World > Americas U.S. Secret Service under spotlight afterprostitution flap 2012-04-16 11:35:25 GMT 2012-04-16 19:35:25(Beijing Time) SINA.com
--
A Secret Service agent stands guard as U.S. President Barack Obama
departs on the Marine Onehelicopter for travel to Colombia for the
Summit of Americas, from the White House in Washington April 13, 2012.
(REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst)
WASHINGTON - They are known for their shiny sunglasses, dark suits,
and stern gazes.
Secret Service agents, the men and women who protect U.S. leaders, are
as much a part of the American political tableau as the presidents,
cabinet officials, and candidates they shadow and protect.
But, unlike their high-profile charges, they are not supposed to make news.
The suspension of 11 agents this weekend after alleged misconduct
involving prostitutes in Colombia brought unwelcome headlines and
attention to the agency's culture.
One critic said the incidentreflected a systemic breakdown of
standards and practices among overworked agents that could leave a
president vulnerable to an attack.
An investigation will showwhether the event, which overshadowed
President Barack Obama's meetings with Latin American leaders in
Cartagena, Colombia, was an unfortunate anomaly or a sign of an
agency-wide problem.
Either way, it shed light on the human frailties andworking conditions
of a group expected to perform discreet and self-sacrificing services
for U.S. leaders.
People familiar with the Secret Service described long work hours on
stressful presidential trips, some of which are scheduled at the last
minute.
Agents often meet at hotel bars at the end of the day on such trips to
drink and unwind. Those who are not traveling with the president
sometimes hold "wheels-up" parties after Air Force One has lifted off
for Washington or another destination.
On Thursday, some U.S. agents brought a number of prostitutes back to
a beachfront hotel in Cartagena near where Obama was due to stay the
following day, according to a local police source, sparking a weekend
of scandal.
"We've heard about these wheel-up parties when the president leaves,"
said congressman Darrell Issa, speaking on CBS' "Face theNation"
program.
"Well, this was a pre-wheel-down. So the question is, is the whole
organization in need of some soul-searching, some changes ... before
the president, the vice president, members of thecabinet are in
danger?"
Ralph Basham, a former director of the agency who is now a principal
with Command ConsultingGroup, said the incident was a rare mishap for
an agency that prides itself on its professionalism.
"I do not believe that there is a systemic problem in the Secret
Service because if there were, this wouldn't be such a huge story," he
toldReuters in an interview.
"This is really an abnormality."
"WILLING TO TAKE A BULLET"
David Gergen, a political analyst who worked for four presidents
including Ronald Reagan, who survived an assassination attempt thanks
to Secret Service protection, said occasional incidents such as the
one in Colombia were not out of character given the masculinity of
many in the profession.
Overall, he said, the agents were brave, outstanding people.
"These are guys who are willing to take a bullet to save a president.
I've seen them do that," Gergen said. "My hope is people keep it in
perspective."
One prominent critic was less forgiving, saying the connection to
prostitutes should end the careers of the agents involved.
"The fact that they were engaged in this conduct, you know,
compromises the agents," said Ronald Kessler, author of "In the
President's Secret Service: Behind the Scenes With Agents in the Line
of Fire and the Presidents They Protect."
"The prostitutes could have blackmailed them, could have been involved
with terrorists, drug cartel people, or foreign intelligence
services," he said. "Any foreign intelligence service would love to
get a Secret Serviceagent in their pocket."
Kessler said the events in Colombia were illustrative of a general
slide of Secret Service standards. He citedthe admittance of uninvited
guests to a White House holiday partyearly in Obama's tenure asfurther
evidence of lax behavior.// - -|

Islam also recommends Mother's milk, for Infants
--
Breast feeding by the mother to her new born infant is greatly
beneficial as science had proven, and it is mandatory in the Noble
Quran. Allah Almighty Commanded the mother to breast feed her child
for two full years:
"The mothers shall give such to their offspring for two whole years,
if the father desires to complete the term. But he shall bear the cost
of their food and clothing on equitable terms. No soul shall have a
burden laid on it greater than it can bear. No mothershall be Treated
unfairly onaccount of her child. Nor father on account of his child,
an heir shall be chargeable in the same way. If they both decide
onweaning, by mutual consent, and after due consultation, there is no
blame on them. If ye decide on a foster-mother for your offspring,
there is no blame on you, provided ye pay (the mother) what ye
offered, on equitable terms. But fear God and know that God sees well
what ye do. (The Noble Quran, 2:233)"// - -|

Muslim Brotherhood refuses to accept ban
--
:-*
CAIRO – The Muslim Brotherhood said Sunday that it will fight the
banning of its candidate forpresident that has thrown Egypt's move
toward elected civilian rule into disarray and threatens a return to
massive street protests.
"We do not accept it. We will challenge it," said Gehad El-Haddad, a
member of the steering committee for the Renaissance Project, which is
at the heart of the Muslim Brotherhood's presidential campaign.
Ten presidential candidateswere barred from contesting the nation's
top job in a decision announced Saturday by thepresidential election
commission, five weeks before the presidential raceis set to begin in
May.
The decision comes at the tail end of a week marred by a slew of
shocks and shifts — from a candidate jumble to a march on Tahrir
Square — that persisted in shaking the pre-election period.
"There is a continuously increasing state of confusion," Egyptian
writerand blogger Bassem Sabry said.
Among the 10 deemed ineligible to run, three were front-runners in the
race for Egypt's presidency.
They are former head of intelligence Omar Suleiman , Muslim
Brotherhood nominee Khairat al-Shater and Hazem Salah Abu Ismail , a
lawyer who supports an Islamic state such as Iran's. All three are
appealing the decisions.
Disqualified by conviction
The Brotherhood's lawyer, Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Maksoud, said Sunday that
the exclusion does not comply with applicable laws. Shater was
disqualified because of a previous criminal conviction. The group is
continuing with Shater's campaign until the electionjudge issues a
final verdict.
"At the moment, our position is that this is the continuation of the
policiesof (ousted president Hosni) Mubarak," Haddad said, adding that
his organization believes the decision is primarily targeted at Shater
and Abu Ismail who are "strong Islamic candidates."
Abu Ismail, who has seen a surge of support, has denounced American
influence and demanded an end to Egypt's peace treaty with Israel.
He was barred from the race because his mother is a U.S. citizen.
(Egyptians holding foreign passports or born to foreign parents are
disqualified.) He has sued, demanding proof of the claim from the
Interior Ministry.
"I'm guessing the Abu Ismail supporters are goingto respond in a very
exaggerated manner," Sabry said about the candidate's backers,
knownhere as Hazemoon . "I thinkit will be manageable if Suleiman
stays out of the race, … but if he is the only one allowed back in,
then it will spark extreme national unrest."
Anticipating the possibility that Shater might be disqualified, the
Muslim Brotherhood dashed last week to field the head of the
Brotherhood's Freedomand Justice Party , Mohammed Morsi, as a backup
to Shater. / :-: Translator :-:

Shift workers 'risking'Type 2 diabetes and obesity
--
:-*
Shift workers getting too little sleep at the wrong time of day may be
increasing their risk of diabetes and obesity, according to
researchers.
The team is calling for more measures to reduce the impact of shift
workingfollowing the results of its study.
Researchers controlled the lives of 21 people, including meal and bedtimes.
The results, published in Science Translational Medicine , showed
changes to normal sleep meant the body struggled to control sugar
levels.
Some participants even developed early symptomsof diabetes within weeks.
Shift work has been associated with a host of health problems.
Doctors at Brigham and Women's Hospital, in the US, were trying to
study its effects in a controlled environment.
Lower insulin levels
The 21 health-trial participants started with 10 hours' sleep at
night. This was followed by three weeks of disruption to their sleep
and body clocks.
The evidence is clear thatgetting enough sleep is important for
health, andthat sleep should be at night for best effect"
Dr Orfeu Buxton
Brigham and Women's Hospital
The length of the day was extended to 28 hours, creating an effect
similar toa full-time flyer constantly getting jet lag.
Participants were allowed only 6.5 hours' sleep in the new 28-hour
day, equivalent to 5.6 hours in anormal day. They also livedin dim
light to prevent normal light resetting the body clock.
During this part of the study, sugar levels in the blood were
"significantly increased" immediately after a meal and during"fasting"
parts of the day.
The researchers showed that lower levels of insulin - the hormone that
normally controls blood sugar - were produced.
Three of the participants had sugar levels which stayed so high after
their meals they were classified as "pre-diabetic".
They also highlighted a riskof putting on weight as thebody slowed down.
"The 8% drop in resting metabolic rate that we measured in our
participants... translates into a 12.5-pound increase in weight over a
single year," they wrote.
Clearly, this does not equate to the normal experience of shift
workers... it is not possible to conclude that the findings would
translate to real conditions in the wider public" / :-: Translator :-:

Taliban military chief held after secret talks with Afghan envoys
--
:-*
The head of Taliban's military council is to be tried by the jihadist
group for having engaged in unauthorised negotiationswith
Afghanistan's Higher Peace Council, intelligence sources have told The
Hindu .
Maulvi Muhammad Ismail was held by the Taliban in early April, two
weeks after he returned to Pakistan after a meeting with envoys from
the Higher Peace Council in the United Arab Emirates. His secret
negotiations with Kabul, the sources said, may have led the Taliban to
stage Sunday's attacks in Kabul — unprecedented in their scale — to
warn against future attempts to infiltrate its ranks.
Few details were availableon Mr. Ismail's arrest, which was impossible
to independently verify. Military sources in Kabul, however, said he
was replaced by Mullah Nasir, earlier the head of Taliban operations
in Ghazni. Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate, the
sources alleged, had unearthed Mr. Ismail's negotiation efforts, and
insisted that the Taliban crack down on it.
Taliban negotiations with the United States in Doha broke down after a
stalemate developed over the release of five prisoners held in
Guantanamo Bay. The Taliban negotiation team is made up of Tayyab
Agha, Abbas Stanikzai and Shahabuddin Delawari, who moved to Doha from
Pakistan in 2010.
However, the Higher PeaceCouncil envoys have continued to reach out to
Taliban commanders operating inside Afghanistan. Afghan politicians
have blamed the ISI for not allowing their efforts to come to
fruition. In a report issued, the International Crisis Group said
Pakistani hardliners see "victory for their Afghan proxies" as
imminent. "This contributes greatly to Kabul's lack of progress in
talks with the insurgents," the ICG stated. / :-: Translator :-:

"When you do not have knowledge, someone couldbring you dirt and you will believe it to be gold." - Ibn al-Qayyim
Your “Stuff” is Not a Part of You
--
You are not defined by the stuff you own. Your "stuff" is not a part
of you. Your "stuff" will break, disappear, or be left behindone day.
In fact what truly defines our character is how we react to loss. If
we were stripped of all the possessions we love, who would we be in
that moment? Would we still be grateful to Allah, patient, trusting?
Hopefully it never comes tothat. But seriously, those times of
greatest sadness and joy are when our thoughts must turn to Allah, The
Eternal, The Merciful, The Wise.
Allah says, "Never will you attain the good until you spend from that
which you love. And whatever you spend – indeed, Allahis Knowing of
it." [Quran 3: 92]
Think about that. Allah is telling us to give away the things that we
love the most! SubhanAllah! Why does Allah ask this of us? Is it to
liberate us from slavery to material possessions? To f0cus our minds
on Allah and the aakhirah (hereafter)? To prevent the evil that
results from the love of money? To benefit the poor?:-
