Fortified food and supplements cannot replace natural foods whenit
comes to nutrition.
A healthy and balanced diet is imperative for optimal growth and
development of children. But what does one do when their kid is a
fussy or picky eater, or only gorges on junk food, chips and
oilysnacks? As a parent, sure you are concerned about your kid's
health.
Today there's a multitude of products such as health drinks and
fortified food that claim to be the 'best' for kids. Earlier the focus
was on natural and home-cooked food. Or today's Gen Y pizzas, burgers
and colas are the staple diet. Parents should know how to make
children aware of nutritional requirements and also which products
touse.
Intake of proteins, mineralsand vitamins must be highlighted in a
child's dietas these are essential for the body. These must be tried
to be included as far as possible with natural foods such as fruits,
vegetables, milk and fish. But if the child is a fussy eater, there is
no harm in resorting to alternatives like nutritional drinks,
fortified cereals, juices and milk, and health supplements.
Primary source
A primary source of nutrition for growing kids is milk, which has
vitamins A, D, and B12, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc and
magnesium, among other nutrients. Many kids refuse to drink milk as
they do not like either the taste or smell. Insuch cases, adding
something tasty as well as nutritious can help. Such additives have
mainly either cocoa or malt to enhance the flavour of milk. The choice
of a healthdrink can be tricky but a comparison of various products
and their nutritional content can help you make an informed decision.
Alternatively ask your family doctor for advice. Fortified milk, which
contains added minerals, vitamins and iron, is another option. These
essential nutrients not onlyhelp in overall development but also
safeguard the child againstinfections such as cold and flu.
Poor lifestyle choices such as eating processed and junk food over
natural foods, skipping meals and over or under-eating, stress and
contact with an ill person are the main causes of infection as they
compromise immunity.
Immune system
Good nutrition is key to a strong immune system. Eating a healthy
diet, drinking lots of water, regular exercise and adequate amount of
sleep are some ways by which the possibility of infections can be
reduced. A child's immune system is still developing and they are the
most likely victims of infections. Some vitamins, minerals and other
nutrients protect and repair cells and fight free radicals, which
interfere with the immune system. Building a strong immune system is
paramount in keeping colds, flu and other infections away. Colourful
fruits and vegetables — especially purple, blue, red, orange, and
yellow colours — are the best natural sources forantioxidants. But if
these are not supplied by the diet, experts suggest supplements
especially if there is deficiency.
While taking supplements under a doctor's observation is not a bad
idea, do not depend completely on them. Supplements may help build
immunity but cannot replace a balanced diet. The best way is to take
thenatural route to health as foods as close to nature, in their
unprocessed and unaltered forms, are the most nutritious and harmless.
Nutrients in foods

*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -*
-
Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Dua Against Debt
--
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH
MOST GRACIOUS, MOST MERCIFUL
- ~ - ~ -
Being in debt is a killer. It consumes us with stress, and eats away
at our happiness and sense of security. It destroys marriages, and if
the debt is between family or friends then it can ruin those
relationships. In some countries, inability topay your debt can even
you put in prison.
I feel obligated to mention that part of the reason so many people are
carrying so much debt is our addiction to the material lifestyle. We
are bombarded with messagesand advertisements telling us we need to
buy this andown that. It gets to the point where we measure our status
in life (and that of others) by what we own, or worse, by how much we
spend. If we spend a huge sum of money on a lavish wedding, then we
are "honored" in society. If not,we feel shamed. Since our incomes do
not match our desires, we go into debt.
This thinking and lifestyle is completely contrary to what Islam
teaches us, and to the example set by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and
the Sahabah (may Allah be pleased withthem all). Even when they became
rulers of the world, they continued to live simple and humble
lifestyles, because they understood what really matters in life.
So the first step for us is to readjust our priorities, and to realize
that what matters is our relationship with Allah. Beyond that, the
important things in life are our family relationships– loving our
spouses and children and spending timewith them, worshiping with them,
supporting them. Then our friendships, and doing some good in the
world, creating something meaningful, andbeing an agent of compassion
in the lives of those around you.
Dua Against Debt
If you have done whatever you can to avoid debt, and still you find
yourself burdened with debts, try this dua from Fortress of the
Muslim. Repeat it manytimes every day:
Dua for relief from debt, inArabic
Allaahummak-finee bihalaalika 'an haraamika wa 'aghninee bifadhlika
'amman siwaaka.
"O Allah, suffice me with what You have allowed instead of what You
have forbidden , and make me independent of all others besides You."
(Reference: At-Tirmithi 5/560. See also Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmithi 3/180.)
This dua against debt is really brilliant, because the dua contains
within itself the solution to the problem. "Suffice me with what you
have allowed." Inother words, let the halal be enough for me. Don't
letme get myself into debt because of haram mortgage loans or
excessive material desire, or out-of-control consumerspending. Let me
be satisfied with a simple, halal life, so that I don't getinto debt.
If you repeat this often enough it becomes a part of your thinking and
awareness, and you modifyyour own behavior, which leads to: "make me
independent of all others besides You." You become your own man or
woman, not owing money to anyone, independent, relying only on Allah.
I'm not saying the dua is just an affirmation, I'm saying it works on
both levels, as an affirmation and as a prayer to Allah to help you
achieve that affirmation. It's a subtle and amazing dua.
Three Excellent Dua's Against Debt:
(note that #2 is the sameas the one above)
1) "Oh Allah, I take refugein You…"
Narrated by Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (ra):
One day the Messenger of Allah (saw) entered the mosque. He saw there
a man from the Ansar (a resident of Madinah) called Abu Umamah and
said to him: "What is the matter that I am seeing you sittingin the
mosque when there is no time of prayer?" Abu Umamah said: "I am
entangled in sorrow and debts." The Prophet Muhammad (ra ) replied:
"Shall I not teach you words by which, when you say them, Allah will
remove your sorrow, and settle your debts?" Abu Umamah said: "Yes,
Messenger of Allah." The Prophet Muhammad (ra ) said: "Say in the
morning and evening: Allahumma inni 'auzu bika min alhamma wal 'huzn,
wal 'ajzi wal kasali wal bukhli wal jubn, wa dhala'iddini wa
'galabatir rajaal." (See here for the arabic text).
'O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and
laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from
being overpowered by men.'
Abu Umamah said: "When Idid that Allah removed my distress and settled
my debt." [Abu Dawood]
2) "O Allah, grant me enough…"
Ali radi Allahu `anhu said that a slave, who had made a contract with
his master to pay for his freedom, came to him and said, "I am unable
to fulfil my contract, so help me." He said, "Shall I not teach you
some words which Allah's Messenger (ra) taught me, and which evenif
you had a debt as large as a mountain Allah would pay it for you?":
Allahumma akfini bihala lika an haramika wa aghnini bi fadhlika am-man siwak.

The Necessity to Refer to the Qur'an and Sunnah
--
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH
MOST GRACIOUS, MOST MERCIFUL
- ~ - ~ -
It is necessary to refer all matters of disagreement between Muslims
to Allah and His Messenger, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam. This is
important for the Muslim to know and implement because it indicates
the complete submission to Allah without which one would not be a
Muslim.Allah says, " If you differ in anything among yourselves, refer
it to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last
Day. That is best and most commendable in the end" [4:59] also, He
says,"And whatever you disagree upon, its decision is with Allah"
[42:10]Ibnul Qayyim said, "Based on these verses, scholars have agreed
that referring to Allah means referring to His Book, and referring to
the Messenger, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, means referring to him in
person when alive, to his Sunnah after his death." The first verse of
surah an-Nisaa (surah 4), is also proof that the Shari'ah has been
perfected and completed. Ibnul Qayim commented on this verse, "It
covers everything that the believers may disagree upon concerning
their religion, from the smallest to the greatest, whether hidden or
evident. And if there were not a clear solution to their disagreement
in Allah's Book and His Messenger's Sunnah, or if they were not enough
for that, then He would not have ordered us referral to them."Shari'ah
is the Judge and is not to be judged: This is its power and its role.
This means that the Shari'ah rules and judges whether people's sayings
and doings are correct or not. It judges between them when in conflict
and disagreement. It confirms the right and abolishes the falsehood.
This fact sometimes is violated through some wrong
practices:Fanaticism: The fanatics in the different Madha-hib, schools
of thought, judge the Qur'an and Sunnah by what their Imam say. For
example, Abul Hassan al-karkhy, a prominent Hanafi Imam, said, "Every
verse 'in the Qur'an' that differs with our Madh-hab'sunderstanding is
either wrongly interpreted or abrogated, and the same applies to every
hadeeth aswell."Democracy: Today, one of the ugly examples of people
taking the Divine Shari'ah into their own hands, is the one related
tothe so-called democracy by taking people's opinion, directly or
through their parliament, about implementing the Islamic Laws. The
essence of this is subjugating the implementation of the Creator's
Shari'ah to the will of His creatures or rendering it to a mere choice
like any human-set constitution or laws. This is total and clear
disbelief, Kufr.In explaining the Islamic Aqueedah, Imam at-Tahawi
said, concerning the one who rules with other than Allah's rule, "If
he thought that ruling in accordance with what Allahhas descended is
not mandatory and that he hasa choice in it, or he belittled it, while
certain that it is Allah's judgement, then he has committed Kufr,
disbelief." No one from this Ummah is faultless except the Prophet,
sallallahu alayhe wa sallam. And so Allah ordered us, when in
conflict, to refer toHim and to His Messenger, sallallahu alayhe wa
sallam, and not to refer to anyone else's opinion or saying or laws.
Hence it is understood that there can be fault in anyone's sayings
except the sayings of Allah and His Messenger, sallallahu alayhe wa
sallam. This also indicates that the claim of some sects that their
Imams are faultless is baseless.Asserting this principle, Imam Malik
said, "Any one's sayings may be corrected except those of the Prophet,
sallallahu alayhe wa sallam." And similar statements were quoted from
Abu Hanifa, Ahmed, Shafi'ee and others
although their exact words may differ a little. Allah says, " Had it
been from other than Allah, much discrepancy would have been found"
[4:82]The referral to the Qur'an and the Sunnah has to be done by
those who qualify for it, the scholars, Allah says, " If you do not
know, ask of those who possess the Message." [16:43]With regards to
asking the scholars and referring to them, we caution the Muslims from
two types of scholars:1) Scholars who are deeply buried under their
books and have lost contact with the outside world. Ibnul Qayim said,
"The Mufti and the Governor cannot govern fairly unless they have two
kinds of knowledge. The first is the understanding of the reality,
being totally involved in it and being able to derive facts from what
happened using evidence, indications and signs, until they are totally
informed. The second is the understanding of Allah's rulings depicted
in His Book or through the sayings of His Messenger, sallallahu alayhe
wa sallam, and understanding how to apply them to the reality under
consideration''/

Islam is your Birthright
Mankind and the universe were not created by accident or chance, but
according to the plan of the Creator, who is known as Allah (lit.: the
one God) in Islam. The Qur'an states that it is the duty of all
individuals to learn about Allah and to live according to His will. As
we cannot accomplish this be ourselves, Allah has sent messengers
andprophets to guide humanity All of these chosen individuals have
brought the same message and have served as examples to their people
of how Allahdesires all human beings to live. Through these selected
people, we havebeen told why mankind was created, what will happen to
us after death, and what Allah expects ofus. But most importantly,we
have been told that Allah is unique-He has nopartners, no sons or
daughters, and no competitors, as so many other man-made religious
systems have postulated. This messagealways remains the same, whereas
the laws laid down for a particularmight show some slight differences.
Muhammad, the last of Allah's prophets, was sent to present Allah's
revelation in its final form and for the last time. This was necessary
because the message delivered by the previousprophets and messengers
had been corrupted or distorted by their followers. They had been
mixed with philosophical speculations, superstitions, myths,
andneglect. Therefore, Islam is not a new religion-it is a restatement
of the original religion of Allah in its purest form and is designed
to provide humanity with the uncorrupted message of Allah.
Islam is an Arabic word that denotes submission and obedience to
Allah. Italso means "peace," for itbrings peace of mind as well as
peace on the individual and the social levels.
THE FIVE PILLARS OF ISLAM
In Islam, the term"worship" covers any action that one does in
accordance with the will of Allah. It can be mental, physical, spoken,
or otherwise. All such actions will be rewarded.
There are five acts of worship that are so fundamental that the
Prophet grouped them together as the five pillars of Islam. Every
Muslim is expected to fulfill these obligations. They are:
THE DECLARATION OF MONOTHEISM:
Recognizing and acknowledging the monotheistic nature of Allah stands
at the core of Islam. This consists of a public affirmation that"there
is no god but Allah (God), and Muhammad is His Messenger." One
cannotbe a Muslim until he states this fact in the presence of Muslim
witnesses.
PRAYERS:
A Muslim must perform thefive daily prayers. These must be performed
at specific times, corresponding roughly with dawn, noon, afternoon,
sunset, and nightfall. The prayers can be made in any clean place, but
it is preferable to pray them with others in a mosque, for this
communalundertaking acts as a reminder that all Muslims are equal.
When many people are praying together, it becomes clear that color,
economic status, social position, and all other artificial distinctions
have no importance to Allah, for all Muslims are commanded to stand
together, shoulder to shoulder, and prostrate themselves before Him.
There are no exceptions. Prayers also elevated the individual to a
higher level of morality, purifies his heart, and helps him to resist
his desire to engage in forbidden activities.
FASTING THE MONTH OF RAMADAN:
Every year during the Muslim month of Ramadan,Muslims abstain from
food, drink, and sexual activity from dawn to sunset. While this gives
the body amuch needed rest and improves ones health by getting rid of
excess weight, it also increases ones commitment to Allah, develops
his social conscience, and reminds him of how the less fortunate live
every day In addition, it strengthens one's patience, self-restraint,
will power, and sincerity.
CHARITY (Zakat):
Every Muslim whose net annual savings are above acertain specified
minimum must pay an annual
amount of 2.5% to the poor and needy This actionpurifies one's accrued
wealth, fosters the quality of sacrifice, and rids him of selfishness
and greed. It also helps to reduce resentment and envy between a
society's poor and rich classes.
HAJJ (Pilgrimage to Makkah):
Hajj is an act of worship that is to be performed at least once in a
lifetime, provided that one is physically and financially able to do
so. During this time, Muslims meet from all corners of the world in an
international congregation for the sole purpose of responding to the
call of Allah. It also reminds the participants that all Muslims are
equal, irrespective of their geographical, cultural, or racial
origins.
THE ARTICLES OF FAITH
All Muslims believe in:
. The oneness of Allah. Allahhas no partner, son, daughter, helper, or
competitor. There is nothing that even remotely resembles Him, for He
is unique.

Adhering to the Sunnah of the Prophet
Praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon the Master of the Prophets and Messengers, and upon
all his family and companions.
The Prophet (saas) (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to
teach the Sunnah to his companions in word and deed, and urged them to
follow it, as he said in his hadeeth: "Adhere to my Sunnah" and
"Whoever neglects my Sunnah does not belong to me." 'Abd-Allaah ibn
Mas'ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger
of Allaah (saas) (peaceand blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"There is no Prophet whom Allaah sent to any nation before me, but he
had disciples from among his nation, and companions who followed his
Sunnah and obeyed his commands." (Narrated by Muslim,no. 71).
Some aspects of the Sunnah are waajib (obligatory) and some
aremustahabb (encouraged). The Muslim should follow the Sunnah of the
Prophet (saas) (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), whether it
is waajib or mustahabb, as long as it is proven in sound reports. The
Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) used to spread the Sunnah
of the Prophet (saas) (peace and blessings of Allaah beupon him) among
people and they called people to follow it.
The proper number of Takbeeraat during prayer is Sunnah
'Ikrimah said: I prayed behind anold man in Makkah (i.e., Zuhr) andhe
said Takbeer twenty-two times. I said to Ibn 'Abbaas that the man was
a fool. He said, "mayyour mother lose you! The Sunnah of Abu'l-Qaasim
(saas) (peace and blessings of Allaah beupon him) was to say Takbeer
five times in each rak'ah, plus theTakbeer for ihraam and for standing
up for the third rak'ah. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 746).
Sitting muftarishan in prayer is Sunnah
'Abd-Allaah ibn 'Abd-Allaah narrated: I used to see 'Abd-Allaah ibn
'Umar (may Allaahbe pleased with him) sitting withhis legs crossed
when he sat (to recite Tashahhud during the prayer). I was a mere
youngster, and I did the same, but 'Abd-Allaah ibn 'Umar told me notto
do that. He said the Sunnah is to put your right foot upright and to
fold the left foot beneath you [this is what is meant by Iftiraash or
"sitting muftarishan" – Translator]. I said to him, 'You do not do
that.' He said, 'My legs do not let me [i.e., because of old age or
sickness].'" (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 784).
It is Sunnah for a traveller to shorten his prayers if he misses
praying a prescribed prayer with an imaam
Moosaa ibn Salamah al-Hudhali said: I asked Ibn 'Abbaas, how should I
pray if I am in Makkah and I do not pray with the imaam? He said, Two
rak'ahs is the Sunnah of Abu'l-Qaasim (saas) (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him). (Narrated byMuslim, no. 1111).
Hajj al-Tamattu' is Sunnah
[Hajj al-Tamattu': this is when thepilgrim enters ihraam for 'Umrah
only, performs 'Umra, finishes ihraam and then later enters a new
ihraam for Hajj – Translator].
Muhammad ibn al-Muthannaa and Ibn Bashshaar said, Muhammad ibn Ja'far
told us, Shu'bah told us: I heard Abu Jamrah al-Duba'i say: "I wanted
to do Hajj al-Tamattu', and some people told me not to do that. I went
to Ibn 'Abbaas and asked him about it, and he told me to do it. Then I
went home and slept, and someone came to me in my dream and said, An
accepted 'Umrah and Hajj Mabroor [Hajj done in accordance with the
Sunnah of the Prophet (saas) (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon
him), and accepted by Allaah]. I came to Ibn 'Abbaas and told him
about what I had seen (in my dream) and he said: Allaahu akbar,
Allaahu akbar, the Sunnah of Abu'l-Qaasim (saas) (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him). (Narrated by Muslim, 2183, and by al-Bukhaari,
no. 1465).
Praying two rak'ahs after each Tawaaf is Sunnah
Ismaa'eel ibn Umayyah said: I said to al-Zuhri that 'Ataa' was saying
that the prescribed prayerwas sufficient and there was no need to do
two rak'ahs after Tawaaf. He said: The Sunnah is better. Abu'l-Qaasim
never did Tawaaf seven times around the Ka'bah but he prayed two
Rak'ahs afterwards. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, Baab salaa al-Nabi
(saas) (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) li suboo'ihi
rak'atayn.)
Keeping the khutbah short and hastening to stand at 'Arafaah is Sunnah
Saalim said: 'Abd al-Malik wrote to al-Hajjaaj telling him not to
differ from Ibn 'Umar concerningthe (rituals of) Hajj. Ibn 'Umar (may
Allaah be pleased with him) came at noon on the Day of 'Arafaah, and I
was with him. He called at the pavilion of al-Hajjaaj, who came out
wearing a wrap dyed with safflower.

According to Quran'smoral values, the importance of allowing others to have the final say
Almighty Allah ordered believers preach their religion to others as
well. Therefore, telling the existence, oneness and greatness of Allah
and inviting them to live by the Quran values, is a great blessing and
a very important worship for Muslims. For this reason, believers
remember Allah, always say the best of the words, preach the message
of Islam, enjoin the good, and forbid the bad. However, they avoid
turning conversations intoa monologue, without allowing anyone else to
speak, as they know this isnot the attitude preached by Quran's moral
values.
Allah states in the following verse that everything everyone says are recorded:
" No indeed! We will write down what he says and prolong the
punishment for him. We will inherit from him the things he is talking
about and he will come to Us all alone." (Surah Maryam, 79-80)
Therefore people are responsible for every idea and thought they have,
everything they do, just like everything they say and they will be
treated accordingly in the hereafter. For this reason the goal of a
person must be avoiding to say a word that could make him ashamed and
repent at the Sight of Allah.
Those who are aware of this important truth revealed by our Lord in
the Quran and who live bythese good moral values, are no doubt the
'believers'. The believers, spend all their lives to gain the pleasure
of Allah. Everything they do, every decision they make, their actions,
behaviors are all intended to please Allah. The same thing goes for
their speeches, conversations and tone. The believers, in pursuit
ofAllah's pleasure, will speakonly if what he is going to say, will
make a positive contribution to the personhe is talking to. They
never seek to draw attention, show off their knowledge when they are
speaking to someone. Sometimes they don't talk at all, and just
listen. And sometimes it might be justa couple of sentences that is
needed to convey his opinion and chooses to benefit from the ideas of
the other person instead. However, some people usea far different
style of speech other than the one based the Quran's moral values.
The mistakes that prevent a conversation from being a wise one
The believers will only speak for Allah's pleasure, and only if that
speech is going to make a positive impact on the person he isspeaking
to. He doesn't seek to be on the forefront. However, many people just
try to be one in the spotlight, making allthe talk, acting with an
attitude of 'I know the best, so I have to talk the most'. Some of
these undesired qualities can be listed as follows: never listening to
anyone, and interrupting others, usually talking with a loudvoice.
This way these people think that they canmake others listen to them
and gain their respect. They never hesitate to shout in attempts to
show how right they are, or to deter, convince or silence others.
However Muslims talk with a reasonable level of voice. Allah shows
the Prophet Luqman (pbuh) asan example to believers. The Prophet
Luqman (pbuh) advises his son as follows:
Be moderate in your tread and lower your voice. The most hateful of
voices is the donkey's bray . (Surah Luqman, 19)
These people don't ever think of listening to othersor benefitting
from their ideas. According to them, turning conversations intoa
one-man conference is an achievement, makes them superior, therefore
they never imagine that it could disturb other people.
According to them, it is not possible for others to have more
knowledge in asubject or put it in a more clever way. This is an
attitude the believers must refrain from strictly. Our Lord states as
follows:
... We raise the rank of anyone We will. Over everyone with knowledge
is a Knower. (Surah Yusuf, 76)
People with the 'I know the best' attitude, usually try to give the
appearanceof being the smartest, wisest and most knowledgeable person
around. They don't need deep knowledge or expertise to act like that,
itcould be something everyone knows, or that they only know of
superficially, or that they heard from others. In every opportunity,
they try to prove their so-calledknowledge and experience to people
around them. Just like it is the case in many other bad habits, the
source of 'I know the best' attitude comes from the inner self, the
enemy of wisdom and common sense.
Listening to a speaking person courteously without interrupting is a
good attitude, which will hopefully be a means for Allah's pleasure.
Such behavior will also be an indication of respect to thespeaker.
However, people away from Quran's moral values, usually don't listen
to others, and even interrupt or talk at the same time.

Don’t Be Disheartened
Sometimes, it is the case that Allah opens up a person's heart and
sparks itwith zeal, motivation, determination and He gives it a burst
of enthusiasm. He blesses his slaves with high aspirations and drives
them towards good deeds until… Shaytan recognises this tremendous gift
and he in turn rushes to stop such a well-driven believer. He launches
his army against him, but then Allah `azza wa jall by His Mercy and
Power protects His slave and helps him overcome the plots of Shaytan;
"Indeed My Slaves, you have no authority over them, except those who
follow you of the deviators." [al-Hijr: 42]
And so the slave of Allah is forever in a battle; between fighting the
grip of Shaytan and between hastening onwards to achieve his goals and
aspirations.
We have to learn to recognize this pattern that often occurs the
moment we make an intention to do something good in our lives;
something that's worthwhile and rewarding,or has great weight in the
Hereafter. For some, this battle begins the moment they enter into
Islam, for others the battle kicks off when they make a firm resolve
to achieve something (e.g. seeking knowledge, or learning Qur'an, or
setting up community projects etc).
One of the crazy plots of Shaytan is that he often seeks to harm us
through the people that surround us or people that are close to us.
Subhan'Allah how often we hear of youth suffering at the hands of
their (non-practising/non-Muslim) parents who restrict them from
practicing their Islam, or a person who wishes to embark on some good
but his friends are the first people to put him down ordemotivate him,
or laymenwho are turned away at the doors of knowledge unfairly such
that they're made to feel rejected, or a worshipper who is
rebukedharshly by another such that his drive in worshipping Allah is
now broken. Yes, harms can often reach you from thosearound you;
sometimes it'speople that you couldn't care less about, sometimes it's
those above you in authority, and sometimes, just sometimes, it's
those that mean the world to you.
As part of a lifelong tarbiyyah, we have to recognize that this is not
uncommon in the path of struggling towards Allah and His Pleasure.
Many scholars have written books on it and classical texts such as Ibn
Hibban's 'Rawdhat al-'Uqala' have numerous chapters dedicated to this.
Yes, eventhough you will meet goodcompanions in life who help you and
offer you kind words of encouragement, there are times unfortunately
when you will also face people (often at the peak of your enthusiasm)
who intentionally or unintentionally bring you down, discourage you,
or zap all your zeal and passion in one way or another. As a result, a
person ends up either not fulfilling their potential, or they become
weak in their pursuit of the good deed, or they abandon it altogether.
We have to recognize that this is just another tool of Shaytan to
prevent the slave of Allah from attaining the high ranks in Paradise.
How can a person best dealwith this?
Focus on Allah, your Creator . He is the One whowishes to see you
succeed. He is the One who wants good for you, and His Help is with
you so long as you are sincere and do your best.
Focus on the Hereafter and make it your focal point throughout life.
Fix your vision on attaining the high ranks; "Look at how We have
favoured some of them over others, but the Hereafter is greater in
degrees and greater in distinction ." [al-Isra: 21].
Ask Allah for guidance in all your affairs . Seek HisMercy and
Blessings. Ask Him to help you overcome the obstacles in life and help
you deal with people in the best manner, and insha'Allah He will most
certainly bring you out as astronger, wiser person.
Be patient. Be patient with people, with circumstances, with the
erayou live in. Be patient when things don't go smoothly or even if
they do go smoothly, be patientwhen they don't turn out as you expect.
Realise that sometimes people are just part of the test . They may not
always intend you harm, but it's the Decree of Allah that He may wish
to test you with others. In the end, this will only increase your
reliance upon Him and your heart will learn tobe patient with
everything and seek Him Alone.
Remain humble. It's all too easy to improperly react (or overreact!)
when faced with difficult people. Be calm, be collected and stay
humble. We ourselves are not safe from mistreating others which
islikely to happen if we respond with anger or speak without thought.
If you endure harm from one person, don't let it cause you to abandon
others . Be social but be wiser in your sociability. Remember the
words of Ibn Hibban when he said, "Whoever seeks to please all people
is seeking something impossible!

A New Course for the World
The Quran was also a message that the time had come to change
humanity'smeandering course. Humanbeings all over the world had been
creating societies, customs and laws based onsuperstition. Some
societieswere based on artificial castes. Others were based on worship
of human beings, or worship of the dead, or cult-like religions, or
collections of taboos andmyths.
The revelation of the Quransignified the beginning of anew course for
the world, alighted path based on scholarship, science and
thesystematization of knowledge. The engines of this new period would
be literacy, scholarship, Tawheed (Oneness of God), and righteousness.
Human history, with its long and bleak stretches of ignorance and
suffering, like a vast desert with only a few small oases, was given a
permanent garden in the form of a book: the Quran.
A book is a garden in your pocket. It's natural, inspiring, and
life-changing. It's your ownpersonal haven. But only if you read it
and let it into your heart.

Faith in difficult times
When we look at today's headlines in the newspapers and magazines, or
perhaps hear a brief news report on the radio or television, or read
the latest news updates on the internet, it is quite easy for a person
who does not have the Qur'anic perspective and thus fails to consider
that there is good in everything that Allah creates to be overwhelmed
with a feeling of the darkest foreboding.
Unemployment is on the increase in many of the world's largest
economies;financial markets are unable to shake off their doldrums for
very long; the twin scourges of homelessness and hunger are on the
rise. It seems tomany that the days of limitless economic growthand
the boundless wealth associated with it are coming perilously close to
a shattering end. People are now feeling great anxiety about not only
their own but their children's futures; recently,in London, England
rampaging mobs of looters took to the streets to express themselves
through wanton theft and lawlessness. All around us, it seems that the
machinery of civilization iscoming to a halt. We see signs of
increasing immorality, of a hardeningof attitudes in the hearts of men
throughout the world, of the abandonment of the most helpless amongst
us by not only their respective governments, but seemingly by their
fellow men as well.
At difficult times like this, it is of the most vital importance for
the believers to never forget that all these manifestations are not
cause for us to resign ourselves to feelings of nihilism. We must
always remember that it is our Lord, Almighty Allah, Who is in supreme
control of allaffairs, and all things happen through His All-powerful
Will. Indeed, the life of this world is buta place of testing for the
true life to come, the Hereafter.
One of the reasons so many people feel despair and hopelessness in
their lives is that they have fallen prey to one of satan's greatest
traps; they have put their faith, not in Allah, but in the transitory
treasures of thisworld. They have replaced faith in our Lord with
faithin the New York Stock Exchange. They long not to read the Word of
Almighty Allah, the Qur'an,but instead their quarterlydividend
statement. They wish to hear only the honeyed words of their financial
advisor, and pay no heed to the call to prayer. They turn for help to
economists, financial pundits and investment bankers, oblivious to
the only One Who can grant them assistance, Allah, the Creator and
Owner of all things. As a result, their lives are an unending quest
for ever-greater riches in the life of this world, all the while
forgetting the eternal life to come. When events no longer proceed in
the manner in which they foolishly assumed would continue for the rest
of their lives, their hearts are seized with disillusionment,
despondence, fear, and anger.
All too many people todayhave fallen into this snare set for them by
satan; they have succumbed to his infernal whisperings. They live
their lives in an egocentric manner, obsessed with the accumulation of
riches andthe acquisition of "the finer things in life." They care not
for their fellow men; they turn away when they see a homelessman or
woman begging inthe streets. They avert their gaze and walk by as
though these needy people did not exist, and do not even give them a
kind word if perhaps they haven't the money to spare them. In the
worst cases, they privately (or even publicly) castigate these
indigent people and wish them ill. These people have truly fallen into
the lowest levels of moral degeneracy.
However, it is incumbent upon us as believers to profess our great
devotionand deep faith in Allah, theLord of the Worlds, He upon Whom
all things depend, and for us to give our constant praise and thanks
to our Lord for all the innumerable blessings which He has chosen to
bestow upon us through His endless munificence. Intimes of difficulty,
it is of course natural for us to turn to Allah for help in removing
our afflictions; but we must also never forget to turn to Allah in
heartfelt thanks in times of plenitude and show Him our deeply felt
gratitude for the boundless blessings He has granted us. In these
volatile times, we must also humbly implore Almighty Allah to give us
the strength we need so that we may remain steadfast and continue on
His path, and to seek refuge in Allah from the ".......whisperer who
withdraws, who whispers into the hearts of men among jinn and men."
(Surat an-Nas, 4-6).
Let us briefly reflect on what faith means to us as Muslims.

Beauty All Around Us
Every Saturday I drive fromFresno, in the geographical center of
California, across the western side of the SanJoaquin Valley and up
into the mountains, to Casa de Fruta. It is such beautiful country,
SubhanAllah. The San Joaquin Valley is a part of California's great
Central Valley, a vast agricultural breadbasket that runs 450 miles
(720 km) from north to south.
Right now in March, the fields are on fire with orange poppies and
yellowmustard flowers. The almond trees have been blossoming for a
month, and the white petals fall to the ground like rain. On myway
home, I sometimes pull over and park under the almond trees. I have a
snack, listen to the radio, then get out and practice martial arts
moves beneaththe trees. When the irrigation pumps are running I use
the water to wash my face or perform wudu'.
The grapes are just coming up – the slender stems are like the idea of
a grape vine. Corn, cotton and lettuce are newly planted, and birds
with long white necks flock to the fields. The fields are full of huge
herds of white sheep and black cows, and our uniquelocal cows with a
large white stripe down the middle.
The green grass sweeps up into the mountains, where it becomes forest
and finally snow.
The years-long drought is over. The San Luis Reservoir is setting a
new high water mark. It is normally full of islands, butnow they have
all disappeared as the water isa solid sheet of deep blue from one
side to the other, with fingers of water stretching into
surroundingvalleys. I've never seen it so high. The Eastside Bypass,
which is a flood control channel and is normally dry as dust, is
running with water.
The San Joaquin River is running to the Pacific Ocean for the first
time in decades. In coming years the Chinook salmon may return to the
river, Insha'Allah. This is a type offish that swims upriver from the
sea. There has notbeen a Chinook run on the San Joaquin River since
the 1940′s.
The skies in this part of the Valley are huge, with vast expanses of
clouds sweeping the sky like ships. Late in the day, the sky is a
giant palette of blue, yellow, orange and red.
The world is amazing. Never think that beauty is gone from the world.
Openyour eyes and look at the majesty around you. All this was not
created in vain. It is a miracle, a blessing, and a sign pointing to
the Most Merciful God.
SubhanAllah, glory to Allah The Provider, The Creator, The One.

Our Beautiful Earth’s True Colors! Incredible New Images of the Earth from Space
"And it is He who createdthe night and the day and the sun and the
moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming." – Quran,
Al-Anbiyaa, 21:33
These spectacular images of the Earth are the most true-colour images
of the entire world released to date, according to Nasa scientists.
The images of the Indian Ocean and North America were produced by
researchers at Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Center using images from
the Terra satellite more than 700km (435 miles) above the Earth's
surface.
The Blue Marble series was pieced together from thousands of images
taken over many months by the satellite's remote-sensing device Modis,
of every square kilometre of the Earth's surface.
Allah's signs are all around us, and modern technologyreveals more
signs to us every day. Some of Allah's miracles are so small that we
can only see them with modern microscopes; whileothers are so great
that wecan only see them from thedistance of space, Subhan Allahu wa

Reaching for the light
Click on the image above and allow yourself a few minutes to do
nothing but gaze at it. Really think about what you are seeing.Isn't
it beautiful and astounding? SubhanAllah.
To me, the amazing thing is that it's a simple image of a small (some
might say insignificant) creature in Allah's universe. It's not a
big-budget film popping with special effects and designed to elicit a
canned emotional response, or a classic novel, or a grand symphony, or
a skilled musician playing a soul-stirring solo on a guitar.
It's just a capture of the light shining on a little flower that most
of us would probably pay no attention to if we walked past it.
Rather than insert my thoughts here, I would like to ask you:
What does this image do for you? What does it make you think? How
doesit make you feel?

Rather than insert my thoughts here, I would like to ask you:
What does this image do for you? What does it make you think? How
doesit make you feel?

ADVISE :- ~ “Someone’s opinion ofyou does not have to become your reality.”
Don't blindly accept other people's negative judgments of you. Reject
their pessimism. Be strong, know yourself, and know that no one else
can define you. Other people's insults may hurt, but they don't define
you. Some people love to say "no", to tell youwhat you cannot do, to
tellyou why your dreams are impossible or impractical, to tell you
what a fool you are, to tell you not to bother trying. Such people
claim to be pragmatists and realists.
In reality, such people are poison. It is their opinions that are not
based in reality. It's their opinions that are founded in cowardice
and cynicism. Their opinions are inherently self-limiting. They have
locked themselves into prisons of the mind. They have taken the ships
of their dreams and smashed holes in the hulls before ever setting
sail. Because they have given up on their dreams, they want you to do
the same.
Either that, or they look at you and they see a bundle of
preconceptions. They seea stereotyped image created in their own
minds, someone who to them is the "wrong" race, or the "wrong"
religion, or has the "wrong" qualifications, and based on that they
willtry to tell you what's "wrong" with you, and to set roadblocks in
your path.
Don't let them define you. Don't let them tell you whoyou are, or what
you can orcannot do.
Mistakes and Appearances Do Not Define You
You are much more than just the sum of the mistakes you've made. Your
past mistakes are not brands of shame, but teachers, stimuli to change
and do better.
You also cannot be judged by the superficial circumstances of your
life: your nationality, race, age, the language you speak, your
favorite foods or colors, your birth date, your height or weight,
whether your lips are narrow or full, whether your hair is lustrous or
thin, whether you have six-pack abs or love handles. These things do
not define you.
For you pop culture fans out there, there's a scene inThe Matrix where
Neo is riding in a car, gazing out at the city, at all the places he
used to know. He says, "I used to eat there. Really good noodles. I
have these memories from my life. None of them happened. What does
that mean?" And Trinity replies, "That the matrix cannot tell you who
you are."
Free Your Soul
So what truly defines you? Two things: your beliefs, and your
character. What you believe, and how thosebeliefs manifest in the way
you act in the world, the way you respect yourself, the way you
maintain yourintegrity no matter what, the compassion and love that
you show to those lessfortunate, your courage, your talents, your
beautifuldreams. Your faith and modesty, sincerity, friendliness, work
ethic, hospitality, willingness to forgive.
These are the things that truly define a human being. No one can
dictate them to you, no one can give them or take them away. Only
Allah can guide you, and only you can choose what to do with that
guidance.
Abu Malik Al-Harith bin Asim Al-Ashari said that theMessenger of Allah
(peace be upon him) said:
"Purity is half of faith. Alhamdu-lillah [Praise be to Allah] fills
the scales, and Subhana-Allah [How far is Allah from every
imperfection] and Alhamdu-lillah [Praise be to Allah] fill that which
is between heaven and earth. Prayer is light; charity is a proof;
patience is illumination; and the Quran is an argument for or against
you. Everyone starts his day and is a vendor of hissoul, either
freeing it or bringing about its ruin."
You are the vendor of your own soul. You set your soulfree, so that
your spirit rises like the sun; or you ruin it, debasing yourself. You
shape your own character. You define yourself. No one else can tell
you who you are. No one else has the right.

HADEES - ~ Hadeeth Qudsi Introduction
Hadeeth Qudsi. But what is Hadeeth Qudsi and how do they differ from
other Hadeeth? The following discussion is given in the introduction
to the book titled "Forty Hadeeth Qudsi" published by: Revival of
Islamic Heritage Society, Islamic Translation Center, P.O.Box 38130,
Aldahieh, Kuwait.
Hadeeth Qudsi are the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and
Blessings of Allah be upon him) as revealed to him by the Almighty
Allah. Hadeeth Qudsi (orSacred Hadeeth) are so named because, unlike
the majority of Hadeeth which are Prophetic Hadeeth, their authority
(Sanad) is traced back not to the Prophet but to the Almighty.
Among the many definitions given by the early scholars to Sacred
Hadeeth is that of as-Sayyid ash-Sharif al-Jurjani (died in 816 A.H.)
in his lexicon At-Tarifat where he says: "A Sacred Hadeeth is, as to
the meaning, from Allah the Almighty; as to the wording, it is from
the messenger of Allah (PBUH). It is that which Allah the Almighty has
communicated to His Prophet through revelation orin dream, and he,
peace be upon him, has communicated it in his own words. Thus Qur'an
is superior to it because, besides being revealed, it is His wording."
Hadeeth Collection
Hadeeth Qudsi 1:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him), who
said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
When Allah decreed the Creation He pledged Himself by writing in His
book which is laid down withHim: My mercy prevails over my wrath.
It was related by Muslim (also by al-Bukhari, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah).
Hadeeth Qudsi 2:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him), who
said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah Almighty has said:
The son of Adam denied Me and he had no right to do so. And he reviled
Me and he had no right todo so. As for his denying Me, it is his
saying: He will not remake meas He made me at first (1) - and the
initial creation [of him] is no easier for Me than remaking him.As for
his reviling Me, it is his saying: Allah has taken to Himselfa son,
while I am the One, the Everlasting Refuge. I begot not nor was I
begotten, and there is none comparable to Me.
(1) i.e., bring me back to life after death.
It was related by al-Bukhari (also by an-Nasa'i).
Hadeeth Qudsi 3:
On the authority of Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhaniyy (may Allah be pleased
with him), who said:
The Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon
him) led the morning prayer for us at al-Hudaybiyah following rainfall
during the night. When the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of
Allah be upon him) finished, he faced the people and said to them: Do
you know what your Lord has said? They said: Allah and his Messenger
know best. He said: This morning one of my servants became a believer
in Me and one a disbeliever. As for him who said: We have been given
rain by virtue of Allah and His mercy, thatone is a believer in Me, a
disbeliever in the stars (2); and as for him who said: We have been
given rain by such-and-such a star, that one is a disbeliever in Me, a
believer in thestars.
(2) The pre-Islamic Arabs believed that rain was brought about by the
movement of stars. This Hadeeth draws attention to the fact that
whatever be the direct cause of such natural phenomena as rain, it is
Allah theAlmighty who is the Disposer of all things.
It is related by al-Bukhari (also byMalik and an-Nasa'i).
Hadeeth Qudsi 4:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him), who
said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah said:
Sons of Adam inveigh against [the vicissitudes of] Time, and I am
Time, in My hand is the night and the day (1).
(1) As the Almighty is the Ordainer of all things, to inveigh aginst
misfortunes that are part of Time is tantamount to inveighing against
Him.
It was related by al-Bukhari (also by Muslim).
Hadeeth Qudsi 5:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him), who
said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah (glorified and
exalted be He) said:
I am so self-sufficient that I am inno need of having an associate.
Thus he who does an action for someone else's sake as well as Mine
will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with
Me.
It was related by Muslim (also by Ibn Majah).
Hadeeth Qudsi 6:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him), who
said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say:
The first of people against whomjudgment will be pronounced on the Day
of Resurrection will be a man who died a martyr. He will be brought
and Allah will make known to him His favours and hewill recognize
them.....
