our Prophet (saas) has a hadith; 'Laughter is from satan. A smile is
from Allah.' In your program, masha'Allah, there is always
laughter…"
Look let me tell you something. The Companions were laughing out
loud. In the verse it is said that believers laugh at the situation
of the polytheists out loud. Allah humiliates them; He shames them
in the hereafter. They grovel. They try to escape from hell. They
try to escape from where they came from; they jump and fall down.
They think that they could get out of there. They think that they
found some way to escape and they scheme about it. Muslims see them
and laugh out loud sitting on their thrones. Allah says, "So today
those who have faith are laughing at non-believers." They laugh at
polytheists out loud. They do not smile. They laugh out loud.
However TODAY BELIEVERS LAUGH AT THOSE WHO ARE NON-BELIEVERS.
SO TODAY WHO HAVE FAITH ARE LAUGHING AT NON-BELIEVERS, ON COUCHES,
GAZING IN WONDER. (Surat at-Mutaffifin, 34-35)
Laughter brings relief and opens the mind. There are people who cry
all the time. They cry from morning to night. What do they say?
They say, "Cry all the time. Don't laugh." When a person feels like
laughing, he laughs. Why "...smile a little"? Does it have a
standard? This is wrong. A Muslim can laugh, as he likes. He is
joyful and cheerful.
If we were to act according to those false hadiths of yours, let me
tell you, it would be impossible. It is also said, "Kill those who do
not pray." Women are accepted as only half a person according to
one hadith. It is said that they are half a person and they could
never become rulers. It is said, "Do the opposite of what they
say." According to the false explanations of what you call hadiths,
these are so; but all of these are fabricated and none are
paralleled in the Qur'an.
A hadith is a hadith only if it is in agreement with the Qur'an.
Laughter; you laugh as you like. However with the bigots, that's not
the case. According to you, we cannot sit at a table. We have to
sit on the floor. We cannot also wear a jacket. It is also wrong to
have a hair cut like this. There is no end to it. According to the
false hadiths you mentioned, when a woman, a donkey or a pig is
passing by, you cannot pray. He will not pray and then you will
kill him. He will not give alms and then you will kill him. He will
not fast and then you will kill him. What kind of religion is this?
None of these things are in the Qur'an. Allah says in the verse,
"THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION ..." (Surat al-Baqara, 256) What
do you say? You say, "It is forbidden to laugh." Laughter is
forbidden. Music is also forbidden. You will not listen to music.
You will not sit at a table. You will not use forks and spoons. You
also cannot use a toothbrush.
Those who did evil used to laugh at those who had faith.
When they passed by them, they would wink at one another.
When they returned to their families, they would make a joke of them.
When they saw them, they would say, 'Those people are misguided.'
But they were not sent as guardians over them.
(Surat Al-Mutaffifin Suresi, 29-33)
Look Allah says, "Non-believers were laughing at believers in this
world ." Sinners are laughing at believers. Allah says, " When they
passed by them, they would wink at one another. " Now they are
mocking the system of the Mahdi in their own way. Surely, Allah is
beyond that. They are also mocking the Prophet Jesus (pbuh). Allah
says, " When they returned to their families, they would make a
joke of them. " They were saying, " When they saw them, they would
say, 'Those people are misguided.' " Pay close attention here. Look
at what they say to believers: " Those people are misguided. " What
are they going to say to the Mahdi? "Misguided." What does Allah say
in the verse? He says, " They would say, 'Those people are
misguided.' " They will use the same words for the Mahdi. Even our
Prophet (saas) says in one hadith, "The scholar in Istanbul will say
to the Mahdi, 'This man is misguided. He is an apostate. Do not
approach him'" This is the hadith. Allah says in the verse, " But
they were not sent as guardians over them. " Look, this is very
meaningful. " But they were not sent as guardians over them ." They
are trying to be guardians over the believers. "So today those who
have faith are laughing at non-believers." They are not smiling;
they are laughing out loud. "On their couches, gazing in wonder"
Allah says. "Have the non-believers been rewarded for what they did?"
Allah says. Abide by the commandments in the Qur'an. Do not follow
the wrong things. Do not make wrong judgments in the name of Allah.
Look. I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed satan. Allah says,
" Who could do greater wrong than someone who invents lies against
Allah or denies His Signs? Evildoers are certainly not successful.
" There is a verse: "Who could do greater wrong than someone who
invents lies against Allah… " (Surah Yunus, 17) Almighty Allah says,
"Do not say about what your lying tongues describe" , this is very
meaningful. Allah says, "Do not say about what your lying tongues
describe: 'This is halal and this is haram.'" (Surat an-Nahl, 116).
What do you say? You are trying to explain to Muslims a commandment
that is not in the Qur'an as the commandment of Allah, and you
invite Muslims to follow your lead. Allah is surely beyond that, but
you are forging a new Qur'an, a new book, a new commandment, a new
way. Allah is truly beyond that. You consider the commandments of
Allah, the Holy Qur'an, as somehow insufficient. (Allah and the
Qur'an are surely beyond that). No way. Allah says that making
additions to the religion is illegal (haram). (Adnan Oktar,
February 2 nd , 2013: A9 TV)
Among them is a group who distort the Book with their tongues so
that you think it is from the Book when it is not from the Book.
They say, 'It is from Allah,' but it is not from Allah. They tell a
lie against Allah and they know it. (Surah Al 'İmran, 78)

The background of suicide bombers who claim to act in the name of Islam
Following the World War II, the the psyche and minds of the people
living in Islamic countries in the the Middle East were affected by
the post war era and introduction of Communism . This new outlook,
which was in no way compatible with the tenets of Islam, was
stealthily changing the mindset of people on these lands that were
once shaped with the beautiful values of the Qur'an for centuries.
This also had its impact on the nascent political structures
gradually forming in the region.
Given this history, the dreadful state of Syria in our modern day
cannot be attributed to Islam. It is surely a legacy of the
communist ideology that was planted in those lands whose borders
were artificially created following the collapse of the Ottoman
Empire. In the absence of a ruling system predicated on Islamic
tenets like that of the Ottoman Empire, the countries that emerged
became vulnerable to ideologies that were either Western or
Eastern, (Communist Soviet Union and China), and did not value or
give importance to the ideas of love, brotherhood, and compassion,
or simply humane ideas.
Syria is just one example. When Hafez Assad came to power with the
Ba'ath Party in the 1960s, the state started to exert violence over
its own people. This type of harsh and cold rule by the Ba'ath party
became widely known in the world as the news of the horrible Hama
massacre dominated the international headlines of the press.
Syria was not the only country in the Middle East that was subjected
to the inhuman practices of the Ba'ath Party. The Party also became
influential in Egypt and Iraq. Meanwhile other Arab countries
including Iran silently came under the sway of communist China.
Another part of the Middle East whose roots were detached from
Islam and surrendered itself to communism was Palestine. The
al-Fatah movement that had grown in this country was not hiding the
ideology by which it was acting upon.
The conflicts and bloodshed that raged throughout the Middle East
were a result of communism coupled with Arab nationalism that
steadily intensified. Withn the regimes that identified with
communism and socialism, it is then not surprising that such
violent developments would take place, it is actually a part of the
normal course of events.
These countries - as systems and individuals – having gone through a
transformation to communism and socialism, and departed Islam still
kept their names as "Islamic Republics", and were thus always
identified with Islam. This being the case, all the crimes,
murders, mass killings perpetrated by these regimes and individuals
were always incorrectly attributed to Islam and Muslims.
A suicide bomber is a typical example. A suicide attack happening
in any corner of the world today is being identified incorrectly
with Islam and it is perceived by the West, especially those who
are unfamiliar with the tenets of Islam, as a practice encouraged
by the religion of Islam.
Islam, however, is a religion that gives the utmost value to human
life. It is a religion based upon humanity, love, compassion,
brotherhood, tolerance, justice, and peace. It treats the "human
being" as a very precious being. Communism, on the other hand, is a
savage system that in no way appreciates an individual as a human
being. It is founded on the tenets of Darwinism and the theory of
evolution, which incorrectly expounds social darwinism, namely that
the strong are eligible to survive while the weak are doomed to
perish. Thus one should not be surprised by the actions of
communists, since it is a system based on a cruel set of ideas.
Therefore communist regimes do not hesitate to kill people, even if
they are of their own nation, race or ethnicity. Indeed, killing
people is such an indispensable and inherent part of this system
that, committing suicide or taking part in suicide bombings,
becomes acceptable, while it is openly an outrageous act condemned
by God in the Qur'an.
According to Islam, suicide is an unlawful act no different from
killing another person. In other words, committing suicide equates
to murder. It is God Who gives life to a person and it is only He
Who can take back that life. A person does not have the right to
kill himself thinking that it is his own life and thus he can decide
when to put an end to that life. Therefore a person who is ready to
kill innocent children, women, that is anyone, together with
himself, openly acts against the provisions of the Qur'an and thus
can by no means be a Muslim. Such a person's mind and soul is
totally divorced from Islam and thus Islam cannot be held
accountable for such crimes.
As we have seen, individuals, communities and systems in the Middle
East of today have gone through a grand transformation. The norms
that shaped the behavior of the citizents of the Middle Eastern
countries aare no longer purely based on Islam. Communism,
socialism and other ideologies that are completely against Islam
have entered the equation and have been influencing them for a
quite long time. Since this is the root cause of radical and
extremist mindsets, one has to reflect and think deeply about the
underlying motivations for the behavior of radicals and extremists
in order to make a correct judgment, otherwise we would attribute a
false label on an entire religion.

Islam Encourages Scientific Progress
The word Islam conjures up a disturbing picture in the minds of some
people outside the Muslim world. It is a fact that many in the West
imagine Islam to be a faith far removed from modern life, closed to
science and that attaches no value to a good quality of life. The
first reason for this erroneous belief is that various people who
claim to be Muslims in fact have views and lifestyles that fly in
the face of it. However, someone looking in from the outside cannot
recognize that and will be unable to evaluate matters accurately.
Another important reason is associated with the first: Most people
are unacquainted with the truths of Islam and the correct
interpretation of the Quran. In point of fact, these people who
make incorrect evaluations are not only from outside the Islamic
world; many people within the Islamic world as well are unable to
properly understand the Quran. The reason for the appearance of
mistaken and radical views is that the Quran is not correctly
understood.
The only point of reference to truly learn about Islam is the Quran
but we see that some people do not interpret the Quran correctly and
produce their own perverse and foolish deductions from it in order
to support their own misguided and superstitious beliefs. One of the
subjects most easily capable of being misinterpreted in this way is
science and scientific activity.
Science is an important reality that enables us to know the universe
we inhabit, the Earth and our own bodies and to be able to
appreciate all the beauties around us. Scientific advances have
enlightened human life and opened the door to a healthier way of
living. For example, by means of medical advances the average human
life span today is much greater than it was a century ago. Even in
the 1950s, average worldwide life expectancy was 47, whereas
according to U.N. figures it had risen to 68 by 2010. Similarly,
advances in other branches of science have made our lives easier and
more comfortable.
Today, for instance, the benefits of the Internet are obvious. By
means of the Internet we can learn at once what is happening in
different parts of the world. Communications among people have
grown and become far easier. New concepts such as e-commerce have
bestowed a new dimension to our understanding of economics.
Information about a subject one wants to investigate can now be
accessed immediately. The Internet is just one of the benefits that
science has bestowed on mankind over the last century and those
nations making greater uses of the benefits of science now live at a
much more advanced level. Had science not progressed as much as it
has, we would very likely still be living dark and backward lives
devoid of many facilities.
For a sincere Muslim, science is a blessing that God has bestowed on
mankind. Islam advocates a rational approach. In many verses of
the Quran, God advises people to use their intelligence. He
emphasizes the need for us to think rationally and scientifically,
speaking of, "...those deeply rooted in knowledge..." and "...only
people of intelligence pay heed." (3:7). Another verse advises
people to think about the formation of the universe: "...reflect on
the creation of the heavens and the earth ..." (3:191)
Use is still being made today of the work of various Muslim
scientists in the past who understood that Islam encourages
scientific investigation. People such as Avicenna, Farabi and
Battani were among the leading scientists of the Middle Ages.
Avicenna's book "The Canon of Medicine" (al-Qānūn fī al-Tibb) was
used as a text book in the universities of Montpellier and Louvain
until 1650. Battani's "Zij" was regarded as a most important
astronomical text, and his work inspired that of Copernicus. A
crater on the moon was even named after him as a mark of respect:
"Albategnius." Al-Khwarizmi's work "Compendious Book on Calculation
by Completion and Balancing" is regarded as the first work in
which the first systematic solution of linear and quadratic
equations are presented. The very term "algebra" comes from
"al-jabr," one of the methods for solving quadratic equations in
al-Khwarizmi's book. Many other examples of contributions to
scientific progress by Muslim scientists could be given.
Today, too, there are a great many scientists, academics and
intellectuals who have emerged from the Islamic world and serve all
mankind. The spread of scientific thinking and concentration on
rationality will further increase the numbers of such people and the
contributions they make. That is why it needs to be better
understood that the Quran encourages rational thinking and
scientific research and activity. In this way, more enlightened
people will appear from within the Islamic world and bearing in
mind that societies are today in ever greater interaction with one
another, such progress will clearly be of great benefit to both the
Islamic world and to the world as a whole.

Stranger: Hi(; asl?
You: Hey (: 14, female, Cali... Wbu?
Stranger: 17 male Kentucky
You: oh kool
Stranger: Wanna go out with me?
You: ..... Okay :) Text me?
(555) 555- 5555 My names Brenna
Stranger: Beautiful name I'm Steven... I just texted you
-You just disconnected-
Hey, my names ----- and this is my story...
It all started on a chatting website called 'Omegle'. I was bored and
had heard of it as being a really fun website... So I went on. I
talked to random perverts from all over the world, not for a long
enough time for them to say much, only for me to know that they were
horn-dogs! I met a guy, who I thought was a pervert but ended up not
one at all, he was sweet, cute, caring, and almost everything a girl
wants. Of course I found all this out AFTER saying yes to being his
girlfriend.
Why, did I say yes? Well... I thought it would be taken as a joke on
both sides but as days turned into weeks and weeks into months, I
realized that this was the realist relationship I had ever had. I was
really starting to... Love him?
I'm not saying I know what love is, especially at the age of 14 at the
time... so before you start judging, hear me out... This guy, that I
so crazily fell in love with, was everything I had always dreamt of
having in a boyfriend...
Just for a minute, think to yourself about what kind of guy or even
girl you want in your life, your dream girl/ guy... That's how him and
I both felt, so we both thought.
I can keep going on and on about how much we loved each other but then
you would stop reading...
At the begging of the relationship, like I said I thought it was a
joke... But it grew into something of the complete opposite... He fell
in love with me and I fell in love with him... Only... I was fake. Not
as in, fake personality or not backing your shit up... Literally
pretending to be a complete different person.
I had tried to break up with him, for that reason... Knowing he would
find out sooner or later... But every time I tried to, he would try to
kill himself. Crazy, right? So I continued living a lie... It ate me
up inside... I wasn't proud of myself, pretending to be a girl I knew
all through elementary school... Stolen pictures, videos,
everything... I really screwed up.
We had been though so much, I can't even begin to describe all the
things we went though together. A lot of it you wouldn't even believe.
He was my very first love.
The day before our 1 year anniversary, and he finds out the truth...
About who I really was. I was so embarrassed... Didn't really know
what to do, I panicked and deleted the fake fb accounts, deleted
pictures, anything that proved that I had anything to do with it.
Once he found out, he asked me what my real name was, how old I was,
what I really looked like and then said he would have loved me for me,
that he thought I was beautiful and loved me still.
An hour later, he had tagged my real pictures on the girl I was
pretending to be (Brennas') Facebook. He told her everything... And
she was mad, she messaged me and said she was going to tell my
parents, and her dad. I blocked her.
For days I kept the phones by my side at all times, waiting for her to
call, just so I could say she has the wrong number. She never did
call...
And just when I thought I was as fake as can be, I hacked my "ex
boyfriends" facebook. He had told me so many times that he was dying,
his uncle died, his dad died, his mom died... He's adopted... All
false. And he also said he had never cheated on me...
We started dating 2-18-12 and from that day on, he had 10 other
girlfriends, them not knowing either. I couldn't get mad, no matter
how much I wanted to, I couldn't... Because I knew that what I did was
still worse that him cheating.
I learned my lesson.
Until my best friend, Manuel tells me that Steven wants to talk to
me... We talked, he said he had strong feelings for me still, and so
did I. We agreed on leaving the past where it lays and starting
something new.
*2-19-13*
We did everything the same as if nothing changed, we were being
ourselfs, telling each other we loved one another and giving a little
:* but this didn't last long... I can't say the reason, but for this
particular reason... We had to break up... Usually he fights to want
it back, but this time he didn't, and that's when I knew he didn't
love me anymore. I couldn't blame him, things between us changed in a
crazy and strange way. It was to much to handle and he needed to move
on. And so did I. That's why I'm writing this, so I can forget it...
Let it go. Nobody else knows about this, except for you. Lol
So, yea... That's my story and I hope you enjoyed reading it.
I know she may not see this, but I also wanted to apologize to Brenna
and her family for what I did, I did a wrong, and it was over the top,
but now that you know my story I hope you can forgive me. I don't
expect you to feel sorry for me or let it go. I just want you to
understand that I tried but couldn't at the same time. I'm sorry. -The

You: ..... Okay :) Text me?

Fathwa, - miscarriage
Question:
I recently had a miscarriage (induced labour) at my first scan I found
out that my 16 weeks (4 months) baby had a lot of fluid in its head,
lungs, stomach because of which it would not have survived...I took a
second opinion from a consultant and was told that it had less than
one percent chance of survival and if it did survive in any case it
would have been born with a disability and eventually would have
died..After a very difficult period and a lot of prayers at my second
attempt of hope of a scan the results were still the same and the
fluid had increased..I could not see my child in pain or death at a
later stage so after consulting my husband who is abroad waiting for a
visa we both decided that we couldn't keep it... accepted it as
Allah's will...I want to know was my decision right or wrong? I hope I
have not committed a sin as I only did what I thought was the right
thing to do rather than seeing its death at a later stage...
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful
Dear Sister,
I am sorry about what you had to go through. May Allah Ta'ala give you
patience and reunite you with your child in paradise.
It is not for me to tell you that what you did was right or wrong.
When a woman decides to end a pregnancy, it is a very personal
decision.
As long as you made istikhara and got some reliable medical advice,
then what can I say? All I have studied is that an abortion is
unlawful once the fetus enters 120 days, or roughly four months.
Given the sensitivity of the situation, please take the matter up with
a reliable local scholar.
May Allah Ta'ala make thing easy for you.

Fathwa, - Wearing jilbab: need encouragment
Question:
I am a practising Muslimah, I wear the hijaab but not a jilbaab,
recently I have really got it in my heart that I need to and I should
wear the jilbaab, I just feel a little confused, please can you give
me some encouragement because I could really do with some, because my
family don't really encourage me and I could do with their support, so
please help should I or shouldn't I, it may be the shaytaan playing
with my feelings and putting me in doubt. Jazakallah khair and the
site is mashallah very good may Allah bless you all for the good work,
and may he give you good in this life and the hereafter.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Dear Sister,
Assalamu alaikum,
I pray this message reaches you in good health and spirits this Ramadan.
Wearing jilbab is very commendable. Since you already wear hijab,
you've already won half the battle. Nothing should stop you from
wearing jilbab. Even if your family does not encourage it, this step
is completely up to you. Allah Ta'ala rewards actions done for His
sake. Jilbab is one of the best forms of modest dress, so, of course,
you should wear it. If you are feeling apprehensive about wearing
jilbab out in public, then be aware that your hijab already sets you
apart. So, alhamdulillah, you already have the courage to obey Allah
and wear your hijab with dignity. Putting on jilbab is simply another
step. Keep in mind that there are different forms of jilbab. For
example, you can wear a jumper or a dress and still have the coverage
that you'd have in a jilbab. You can experiment with different jilbab
styles to see what suits you best. Jilbabs are very elegant garments.
So don't worry about what people think. You may even find yourself
receiving compliments; the modest dress of Muslim women is both
feminine and dignified, and even some non-Muslims appreciate this.
So ask Allah for strength, don't make it more difficult than it should
be, and ignore the naysayers, whether they are Muslim or non-Muslim.
You do what you need to do for your deen. And try to find other
Muslimahs who are doing the same because a social network is
important.
May Allah reward you

Fathwa, - Difference in way of life in our marriage
Question:
My problem has been hurting me since I got divorced. My husband and I
have had issues since the beginning of our marriage. We disagreed on
many things getting into the marriage like how big the wedding should
be. If getting a ring was the right thing to do. How big should the
house we're buying going to be. I know these could be very trivial
issues compared to many disasters in the world and I realize this now
but the point is we entered this marriage with many stresses. I know I
wanted more than what he wanted to give but like any girl in my
position I had many suitors ask for my hand with great offers. I
picked one and hoped he will give me what I want. We had nikah right
away after the engagement and it lasted for a year before the wedding.
I felt helpless because I was already married and I wondered had I
stayed engaged , would he have granted me my wishes with much of a
struggle. We have a beautiful child now but we are divorced. We kept
having issues from his mother--incredible interference in all of our
affairs...where we live, when we should have a kid, how much money my
husband should spend on me and so forth. My other issue with my
husband is that I put on hijab right before I met him. We met and got
married. I felt that hijab got me into this mess. Now I'm accepting
the qadar of Allah more that I ever did before and I'm hoping for a
better life. He handled his mother's issues he says but the remaining
issue is how religious I am. I don't and never smoked or drank or
dated. I alhamdullilah am very pretty and I know that I could do all
of that and have fun but I don't want to. Allah's path is better that
any other. I just can't wear the hijab anymore. I emotionally and
physically suffer when I go out with it. I tried personal and family
counseling to fix this problem but we got nowhere we got divorced at a
time of anger. I asked for the divorce and he gave it to me. Now we
both regret it and want to get back together but the deciding factor
is me wearing hijab. He says that he won't expect much from me but he
needs some minimums and hijab is one of them. I really really
understand his point of view and he has every right to feel that way
but I'm really confused. I told him that I always tried to force
myself to do things for him so we won't destroy this marriage but this
time I'm having such a hard time and I am not good at explaining my
feelings. He asked me to stay with my parents until I have figured out
what I will do about hijab and based on that he will decide whether we
should stay together or not meaning divorce if I take it off. I am
lost. I don't want to break this family and I don't want to suffer
everyday. I pray and ask for guidance believe me and I will continue
to do that but for the mean time what do I do? I think sometimes why
couldn't he be more reasonable with me. Out of all of his friends he
one of the most strict ones I've met and yet he enjoys his life too. I
feel that my decision will affect my life, his and our son's and it
won't be pretty. I know I must have confused you already and I swear
I'm much more confused than I ever was. Many women don't wear hijab
but they aren't necessarily not religious. He has no faith in me now
and doesn't trust that I can be a good wife. I went through a lot with
him and what got to me the most is how ready he was to divorce me
whenever we had an issue. I hope your answer will guide me a little.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Dear Sister,
Assalamu alaikum,
Thank you for your question.
Given the seriousness of the situation, I strongly urge you and your
husband to seek marriage counseling.
There are only a few observations I can offer based on what I could
understand of your situation:
1.You and your husband have a child together. You owe it to your child
to consider the impact of a broken home on his future. Are your and
your husband's issues irreconcilable?
2.You seem to be very conflicted about the purpose and status of
hijab. Hijab is a command from Allah Most High. To make the hijab a
bone of contention between you and your husband is a mistake. Are you
really prepared to sacrifice your marriage over hijab?
3.There are obviously deeper issues than whether or not to wear hijab.
You and your husband appear to have some compatibility issues that
absolutely must be resolved before you go any further.
4.There are valuable lessons that can be learned from this situation.
You and your husband need to decide if you can make a fresh start.
(I'm assuming the divorce is non-finalized). You both need to make the
Guidance Prayerand mutually agree to seek marriage counseling to help
you work through these issues.
5.You both need to change the way you handle conflict. Threatening
divorce every time an issue crops up is unhealthy and, from a fiqh
perspective, risky.I pray you can work things out.

Quran is the source of glory and happiness for the Ummah - I
Praise be to Allaah Who Revealed His Noble Book in the best style and
Impressed hearts with its good wording and eloquent compositions. He
Revealed it in the form of clear verses, Segmented it into Surahs and
verses, Arranged it in the best way with His Extensive Wisdom and
Composed it in the greatest way with the most eloquent words and
sublime structure. Blessings and peace be upon the Prophetto whom the
Quran was revealed to warn and remind. Allaah Revealed the Quran to
his noble heart and this alleviated his hardship and expanded his
breast. Also, blessings and peace be on the Prophet'sfamily and
Companions from among the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar.
Despite technical advancement, the prosperity of industries and
inventions and the new world order, the world today is failing with
all its organizations, institutions and innovations to bring happiness
to humankind or provide it with security and comfort. Here are the
ratios of the disease of the age; anxiety and depression, increasing
day after day. Here are also the ratios of poverty, ignorance, hunger,
killing, suicide as well as the collapse of values, principles and
morals multiplying year after year.
Villa Spaza, a Spanish scientist, said, "All the amazing discoveries
of the West are neither able to prevent even one tear nor to make even
one human smile..."
Alexis Carrel said, "Modern civilization does not suit us …. Although
it was established through our contributions, it does not suit us. We
are indeed unhappy people because we have morally and mentally
deteriorated."
The same applies to some of those who are called Muslims. They have
their wealth, positions and dreams, though they live in worries,
anxiety and pain. What is the solution? What is the refuge? It is the
Quran!
The Quran is the source of glory and happiness for the Ummah, the
basis of knowledge, action and tranquility, and the spring of
steadfastness at the time of conflicting ideas and changing concepts.
It is the fortified dam in facing temptations, allegations and
desires.
At such a time, all of us need the Quran to strengthen our faith and
certainty so that we keep steadfast before such desires and
challenges.
Each Muslim needs the Quran to reassure him when he feels alienated,
soothe him when he is afflicted with a disaster, create hope in him
when he is distressed or suffers from despair of the Mercy of Allaah
and warn and frighten him when he is overcome with fancies and lusts.
O Muslims, nation of the Quran, there is neither steadfastness, nor
affection for the self, nor relief for the soul, nor fulfillment of a
promise nor security from a punishment nor firmness of belief nor
continuity of one's good mention unless one moves with all his
feelings, sentiments, heart and body to the Book of Allaah, the Noble
Quran through recitation, reflection, learning and acting accordingly.
This key actually opens the locks of the heart. The Quran is the key
of the hearts. Allaah The Almighty Says )what means(:}Then do they not
reflect upon the Quran, or are there locks upon ]their[ hearts?{]Quran
47: 24[
O Muslim, you should read the Quran with your heart first before your
tongue to find:
Purity of meanings which quench your thirst from the water of
eloquence, gentleness where you smell the breeze of the garden as well
as words when they are strict, they are like waves of the overflowing
seas and when they are lenient, they are the breaths of the life to
come.
The Quran is the source of lighting the heart as well as life and
remedy for souls. Allaah The Almighty Says )what means(:}O mankind,
there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for
what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers. Say,
"In the Bounty of Allaah and in His Mercy - in that let them rejoice;
it is better than what they accumulate."{
]Quran 10: 57-58[
The Quran achieves happiness for the human, spreads security and
tranquility and provides glory, prosperity and safety. All this is
achieved through the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophetwho said:"I
have left among you two things you will never go astray as long as you
hold fast to them: the Book of Allaah and my Sunnah."]Al-Albaani:
Hasan[
Brothers and sisters, we do not need to clarify a fact which is known
to friends and confirmed by enemies. We do not need to clarify this
fact which the believers believed in and the opponents admitted. We do
not need to assert that the Noble Quran is a sublime summit and a high
peak in eloquence and fluency. The masters of eloquence failed to
bring anything like the Quran. We do not need to repeat this whenever
we talk about our Quran. It is enough for us in terms of glory and
honor that the Quran is the Words of Allaah.
We hear many of those who try to prove the strength of eloquence and
effectiveness in the Quran for the enemies. Had we been truthful with
ourselves, we would have wondered: What is the effect of the Quran on
our souls? What is the effect of its eloquence on our hearts? Is this
not poof against us that we are away from the Quran and therefore we
are weak? Where are we from the Quran; the light of our hearts, the
constitution of our lives, the Favor of Allaah and His greatest Bounty
over us?
We are often in dire need of those who remind us, admonish us, soften
our hearts and help us to stay always on the straight path, with
neither exaggeration nor negligence.
There are moderate souls which accept, are disciplined and even become
happy and demand this reminder. Contrary to this, there is another
type of Muslim who is far away from the Islamic etiquettes and morals.
They are even away from dedicating worship to Allaah and doing what
befits the Majesty of Allaah of love, exaltation, submission and
surrender. Such people need strong alerts and admonishments which put
an end to their heedlessness and take them out of their deviation.
There are no stronger alerts than the alerts of the Noble Quran which
greatly influenced the Arabs, not only due to its inimitable style but
also due to its alerts, prohibitions as well as the way of narrating
stories in all its Surahs.
Have such people heard the verse in which Allaah The Almighty Says
)what means(:}O you who have believed, do not take your fathers or
your brothers as allies if they have preferred disbelief over belief.
And whoever does so among you - then it is those who are the
wrongdoers.{]Quran 9: 23[
Have such people read in the Quran the verse in which Allaah The
Almighty Says )what means(:}Say, ]O Muhammad[, "If your fathers, your
sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have
obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which
you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allaah and His Messenger
and Jihaad in His Cause, then wait until Allaah Executes His command.
And Allaah Does not Guide the defiantly disobedient people."{]Quran 9:
24[
When one of the leaders of the Quraysh heard the Messenger of
Allaahreciting the verse in which Allaah The Almighty Says )what
means(:}But if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a
thunderbolt like the thunderbolt ]that struck[ 'Aad and
Thamood.{]Quran 41: 13[, he begged him to stop the recitation.
The Prophetstrictly warned against returning to the morals of the
pre-Islamic era saying:"The example of the one who helps his people
with falsehood is like a camel that fell into a well and it moves its
tail but can not get out."]Al-Albaani: Saheeh[
He also said:"I am seizing your waistbands and trying to pull you away
from the Fire but you are trying to get away from me."]Muslim[
Why are those who are enslaved by traditions and vain pretensions and
their words and deeds have become so far from Islam, not frankly told
that their status is due to weakness of faith and keeping away from
reflecting on the verses of the Quran? Actually, the Quranic stories
and examples as well as the sayings of the Prophethave a wonderful
effect on reforming and deterring the soul and putting it on the
straight path. O people of the Quran, when will we realize that
civilization and advancement do not contradict adherence to religion?
When will we realize that the Quran is a light and guidance for the
Muslims?
It is really astonishing! Why do we quickly respond to the enemies
when they dictate that advancement can not be attained unless one
abandons Islam? Could we not be civilized while we are praying and
fasting? Could we not be civilized while we are straight and
righteous?
I wonder in astonishment; is the condition of civilization and
advancement to disobey Allaah and contradict His commands? If it is
so, then this is the real backwardness. This is actually backwardness
to the ages of ignorance, Shirk, darkness and worshipping desires and
the idols of fancy! Allaah The Almighty Says )what means(:}Indeed,
this Quran guides to that which is most suitable and gives good
tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a
great reward.{]Quran 17: 9[
Is this the effect of ignorance about the Quran? Or is it shame to
follow the truth of Islam? Or it is the effect of desires and lusts
and surrender? O people of the Quran, the Quran calls to progress in
all fields; all worldly and religiously matters. Nevertheless, it is
the type of progress which is controlled by the noble Quranic
etiquettes and divine teachings. Non-Muslim scientists and wise people
wondered about the Noble Quran which preceded them to reflection and
advancement by hundreds of years. This is happening at a time when
many Muslims have deserted the Quran.

Say,
"In the Bounty of Allaah and in His Mercy - in that let them rejoice;
it is better than what they accumulate."{

Quran is the source of glory and happiness for the Ummah - II
Desertion of the Quran and its types:
First: Desertion of hearing, believing and listening to the Quran. You
find some Muslims today listening to all radio stations and becoming
addicted to songs and vain talk. Nevertheless, when one suddenly hears
the Quran, he turns off the radio. We seek refuge in Allaah from loss.
Second: Desertion of referring judgment to the Quran in all rulings of
religion )major or minor(. Some people refer judgment in disputes and
quarrels to man-made laws or tribal traditions and customs.
Third: Desertion of reflection, understanding and knowing what is
meant by Allaah. There are many who recite the Quran while the Quran
curses them.
Fourth: Desertion of seeking remedy and recovery from all diseases in
the Quran. A person may resort to all means of recovery except the
Quran, out of negligence and desertion.
Fifth: Desertion of applying it and not paying attention to what has
been described as lawful or unlawful by the Quran, even if the person
recites it and believes in it.
Dear readers, with the great Quran we have been taken from darkness to
light and with deserting it, we are taken back to darkness.
With the Quran, we were the best nation brought to mankind and by
deserting it, we return to the life of humility and disgrace.
With the Quran the Ummah reached the peak of virtues and glory and by
deserting it, it falls into the abyss of vices and rejection.
There is no wonder, for the earth had indeed witnessed a great birth
by the revelation of the Quran to Muhammad. The Quran showered the
earth with its light and revived it. The Quran was revealed to the
Arabs. Although they were eloquent, they felt weak before the great
perfection of the Quran. They, therefore, surrendered to its
eloquence, their hearts were attached to it and their souls were
attracted to the inimitability of the Quran.
Where is the effect of the Quran on the souls of the contemporary
people? Some Muslims make a barrier between themselves and the Quran
and, therefore, they no longer listen to it. Even, they made a barrier
between them and all types of goodness. They are like those who put
their fingers in their ears in order not to hear the truth. One thinks
that when he hears, he will not be excused and he will no longer enjoy
his lusts and desires. Such a poor person does not know that perhaps
he hears even one verse or Hadeeth and this will be the reason for him
to gain freedom. Such a person has a captured heart and the capture of
hearts is a greater matter than the capture of the physical body.
There are many who are captives of desires and lusts, and therefore
they do not taste the sweetness of faith or the pleasure of reading
the Quran.
Perhaps listening to goodness saves you and grants your soul eternal
happiness. Hence, you have to open your heart. Allaah Has Given you
ears to hear; so, do not block them. He Has also Given you a mind to
think; so, do not make it heedless by following fancy. Here is the
example of At-Tufayl ibn 'Aamir Ad-Dawsi, May Allaah Be Pleased with
him, who came to Makkah at the beginning of Islam. The people of the
Quraysh warned him against meeting the Messenger of Allaah. They said
to him: "Muhammad separated our community and disunited us. His words
are like magic. So, you should avoid him lest he should afflict you as
well as your people in the same way as he did with us." At-Tufayl, May
Allaah Be Pleased with him, said: "They continued warning me until I
decided neither to hear anything from him nor to talk to him. Finally,
I decided to put cotton in my ears in order not to hear him. In the
morning, I went to the Ka'bah and there was the Messenger of
Allaahstanding for prayer. I stood near him and Allaah Made me hear
some of what he was saying. I heard good words and therefore I blamed
myself and said: "I am a seasoned man and poet and I can distinguish
between good and evil. By Allaah, I will hear from him. If he is
right, I will accept from him; otherwise, I will avoid him." Then he
removed the cotton from his ears and heard the best words from him. He
then said: "I have never heard better or fairer words." The words of
the Quran, therefore, were the reason behind his happiness in the two
worlds when he opened his hearing and mind before them. They greatly
influenced his soul and warm whispers penetrated deeply within his
mind and heart bearing the guidance of the Quran. Allaah The Almighty
Says )what means(:}]This is[ a blessed Book which We Have Revealed to
you, ]O Muhammad[, that they might reflect upon its verses and that
those of understanding would be reminded.{]Quran 38: 29[
Here is also the example of another man who was a tyrant during the
pre-Islamic era and harsh with the weak Muslims at that time. He heard
the verses in which Allaah The Almighty Says )what means(:}Ta, Ha. We
Have not Sent down to you the Quran that you be distressed………Indeed, I
Am Allaah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish
prayer for My remembrance.{]Quran 20: 1-14[
These verses broke the barriers of Shirk in his heart and melted the
rocks of ignorance. Therefore, he said: "It does not befit The One Who
Says that to worship others beside Him." That man became when he
walked in a road, the devil would walk in another road. He is
Al-Faarooq, 'Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, May Allaah Be Pleased with him, the
second Caliph for Muslims. Allaah The Almighty Exalted the religion of
Islam with 'Umar, May Allaah Be Pleased with him.
The Quran introduced a distinguished generation from the Companions,
May Allaah Be Pleased with them, throughout the history of Islam, even
throughout the history of all humanity. This was not only because the
Messenger of Allaahwas among them, as some may think. Had it been only
for that, the message of Islam as well as the Islamic call would have
ended with the death of the Messenger of Allaah. Rather, there was
another reason that the Companions, May Allaah Be Pleased with them,
drunk from the spring of the Quran, adjusted themselves with it and
absorbed it, although there were different cultures at that time.
Another reason which urged the Companions, May Allaah Be Pleased with
them, to reach such an extent of virtuousness and nobility is that
they used to read the Quran in order to implement it within themselves
as well as within the communities in which they lived. They were like
soldiers who receive orders in the battlefield.
O nation of the Quran, know that the Quran does not grant its
treasures except for those who come to it with that spirit, the spirit
of response and implementation. When the verse of prohibiting wine was
revealed, a man walked in the streets of Al-Madeenah to announce that
wine has been forbidden. What happened thereafter? Each one who had a
cup of wine in his hand threw it away.
Even, each one who had the cup of wine on his lips spilled it out.
Those who had jars of wine spilled them, in response and obedience to
the Command of Allaah.
We ask Allaah to Make us obedient to Him and quickly respond to Him.
We also ask Him to Grant us understanding of the Quran, contemplating
it and acting accordingly!

The Quran is the Speech of Allah
The Noble Quran is the eternal miracle of Prophet Muhammad, sallAllahu
'alayhi wa sallam, because all the miracles of the prophets, May Allah
Exalt his mention, ended with their death, except our Prophet,
sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, whose miracle is still preserved. This
everlasting miracle is The Book of Allah and His Revealed Speech
that}Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind
it{]Quran 41:42[
Allah The Almighty Confirms this fact, when He Says )what means(:
•}And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant
him protection so that he may hear the Words of Allah.{]Quran 9:6[
•}Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war
booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the Words
of Allah.{]Quran 48:15[
Those two verses prove that the Quran is the Words and Speech of Allah
The Almighty that He Has Revealed to His Prophet Muhammad, sallAllahu
'alayhi wa sallam. Jaabir ibn 'Abdullaah, May Allah Be pleased with
him, reported that the Prophet, sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, used to
invite people to Islam during the Hajj season and would say,"Who are
willing to give me asylum so that I can convey the Speech of my Lord,
for the Quraysh have prevented me from conveying the Speech of my
Lord."]At-Tirmithi and Ahmad[
Hence, the Quran is the Speech of Allah as unanimously agreed upon by
all Muslims.
This fact is supported by several logical and tangible evidences
including the following:
- The polytheists failed to produce a single verse, let alone a single
Soorah, let alone a whole book like the Quran despite the fact that
they were utterly determined and extremely motivated to oppose and
falsify the call of the Prophet, sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
Furthermore, we must remember that they were the masters of the Arabic
language, in which the Quran was revealed. Certainly, this constitutes
a definitive proof that the Quran is the Speech of Allah The Lord of
The Worlds, not that of humans.
- The Quran foretold many matters of the unseen and made several
prophecies that were all fulfilled exactly as they were foretold. For
example, the Persians defeated the Byzantines in one of their battles
and the Quran recorded this defeat foretelling that the Byzantines
would defeat the Persians within three to nine years and this is what
actually happened. Allah The Exalted Says )what means(:}The Byzantines
have been defeated * In the nearest land. But they, after their
defeat, will overcome. * Within three to nine years.{]Quran 30: 2-4[
- The Quran includes many miraculous scientific facts that were only
discovered fourteen centuries later. For example, the Quran told us
about a barrier separating the salty water from the fresh water not to
mix with each other. Allah The Exalted Says )what means(:}He Released
the two seas, meeting ]side by side[; * Between them is a barrier ]so[
neither of them transgresses.{]Quran 55:19,20[
After about fourteen centuries, modern science confirmed this scientific fact.
- When one reads the Book of Allah, he goes into a state of peace and
tranquility unlike the human speeches or writings. Allah The Exalted
Says )what means(:}Those who have believed and whose hearts are
assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the
remembrance of Allah hearts are assured."{]Quran 13:28[
- The Quran is also a cure and it expels the devils when it is
recited. Allah The Almighty Said )what means(:}And We send down of the
Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers...{]Quran
17:82[
Of course, it is almost impossible to list all the evidences that
prove that the Quran is the Speech of Allah in this article; however,
we will conclude with the words of Al-Waleed ibn Al-Mugheerah, who was
one of the senior leaders of the polytheists of Quraysh, about the
Quran. He said, "What can I say? Whether it is about prose or poetry,
or the poems of the Jinns, I possess greater knowledge than any other
man. By God! The words spoken by this man can not be compared with any
of the others. By God, his words possess a charming sweetness and a
particular beauty. The branches of his speech are laden with fruit
while its roots are firmly entrenched in the soil from whence it
proceeds. It is superior to all other discourses, and it is not
possible for any other discourse to show it in poor light. For a
surety it will conquer anything that comes under its own influence!"
]Al-Haakim and Al-Bayhaqi[
This is the Quran, the Speech of Allah that has been challenging
humankind and proving its inability to produce something to its effect
as to its eloquence, wise judgments, and authentic news. The challenge
is still raised, and the inability of mankind to face that challenge
remains. Thus, the Quran will remain the everlasting Argument of Allah
The Almighty against all opponents and disbelievers.
** Dought & clear, - Are the five daily prayersmentioned in the Qur’aan?.
** The Holy Qur'an, Surah 30: Al Rum 17 "SO (GIVE) GLORY TO ALLAH,
WHEN YE REACH EVENTIDE AND WHEN YE RISE IN THE MORNING;" 18 "YEA,TO
HIM BE PRAISE, IN THE HEAVENS AND ON EARTH; AND IN THE LATE AFTERNOON
AND WHEN THE DAY BEGINS TO DECLINE." These verses only mention four
prayers, but yet Muslims pray five times a day (plus Sunnah). Why does
it not state the fifth prayer? PS. I'am a practicig Muslim (Inshallah)
and I'am in no way trying to prove the Qur'an wrong.
Praise be to Allaah.
In the Tafseer of this aayah, it is reported that Ibn 'Abbaas (may
Allaah be pleased with him) said: "The five daily prayers are
(mentioned) in the Qur'aan." He was asked, "Where?" He said, "Allaah
says (interpretation of the meaning):'So glorify Allaah when you come
up to the evening'is maghrib and 'isha';'and when you enter the
morning'is fajr; 'in the afternoon'is 'asr; and'the time when the day
begins to decline'is zuhr." Other mufassireen, such as al-Dahhaak and
Sa'eed ibn Jubayr said the same thing.
Some of the mufassireen said that these aayat mention only four of the
prayers; 'isha' is not mentioned here, but it is mentioned in Soorat
Hood, where Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):"… and in some
hours of the night…" [Hood 11:114]
Most of the mufassireen are of the first opinion. Al-Nahhaas (may
Allaah have mercy on him) said: "The scholars of Tafseer say that the
aayah (interpretation of the meaning):'So glorify Allaah when you come
up to the evening and when you enter the morning…' [al-Room
30:17]refers to the prayers."
Imaam al-Jassaas (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: "Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):'… The prayer is enjoined on the
believers at fixed times [mawqootan].' [al-Nisa' 4:103].It was
reported that 'Abd-Allaah ibn Mas'ood said: '[Mawqootanmeans that]
Salaah has an appointed time just as Hajj does.' It was reported that
Ibn 'Abbaas, Mujaahid and 'Atiyyah said [thatmawqootanmeans] 'It is
obligatory'… The word'mawqootan'means that it is obligatory at certain
times. The times are referred to in general terms in this aayah and
are explained elsewhere in the Book, without defining precisely when
those times start and end – that was explained in detail by the
Messenger of Allaah(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). What
Allaah mentioned about the times of the prayers in His Book is
(interpretation of the meaning):"Perform al-Salaah from mid-day till
the darkness of the night and recite the Qur'aan in the early dawn…"
[al-Isra' 17:78].Mujaahid reported from Ibn 'Abbaas: "'Mid-day'means
when the sun has passed its zenith for salaat al-zuhr, and'the
darkness of the night'means the beginning of the night, for salaat
al-maghrib." It was also reported from Ibn 'Umar that mid-day meant
the zenith… Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):"And perform
al-salaahat the two ends of the day and in some parts of the night"
[Hood 11:114].'Amr reported from al-Hasan that'the two ends of the
day'means fajr at the first end and zuhr and 'asr at the other;'some
parts of thenight'means maghrib and 'isha'. So according to this
opinion the aayah refers to all five prayers…. Layth reported from
al-Hakam from Abu 'Ayyaad that Ibn 'Abbaas said: "This aayah mentions
all five prayers together.'So glorify Allaah when you come up to the
evening' refers to maghrib and 'isha','and when you enter the
morning'refers to fajr,'in the afternoon'is 'asr; and'the time when
the day begins to decline'is zuhr." Something similar was also
reported from al-Hasan.
Abu Razeen reported from Ibn 'Abbaas: "'…and glorify the praises of
your Lord before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting' [Qaaf
50:39 – interpretation of the meaning]refers to the prescribed
prayers.'… and glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of
the sun, and before its setting, and during some of the hours of the
night, and at the sides of the day, that you may become pleased with
the reward which Allaah shall give you.' [Ta-Ha 20:130 –
interpretation of the meaning]This aayah also includes the times of
the prayers. All of these aayaat mention the times of the prayers."

What you should also know is that the Qur'aan does not contain details
of all the rules. The Qur'aan mentions many rules, but it also tells
us that the Sunnah is a source of evidence in which many rules are

(interpretation of the meanings):
"… and We have also sent down to you (O Muhammad) the reminder and the
advice (the Qur'aan), that you may explain clearly to men what is sent
down to them and that they may give thought." [al-Nahl 16:44]
"… and whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it…" [al-Hashr 59:7]
The Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "I have
been given the Qur'aan and something like it with it…" (Reported by
Imaam Ahmad, 16546; this is a saheeh hadeeth). Whether the rules were

and all of it has one source, which is the wahy or revelation from the

Dought & clear, - Praying in a room in which there are images.
Is it permissible to pray in a room in which there are images?
Praise be to Allaah.
The most correct view is that it is not permissible to pray in a room
in which images of animate beings are hanging, on the basis of several
reports, including the following:
The hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said:
the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "The
angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images."(Agreed
upon).
The hadeeth of 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said:
"The Messenger of Allaah(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
returned from a journey and I had covered an alcove with a blanket on
which there were images. When the Messenger of Allaah(peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw it, he tore it down and said,
'The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of
Resurrection will be those who imitate the creation of
Allaah.'"(Agreed upon).
The hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said:
the Messenger of Allaah(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
said: "Jibreel came to me and said: 'I came to you yesterday and
nothing prevented me from entering except that there was a statue by
your door, and there was a curtain in your house with images on it,
and there was a dog in the house. So tell someone to cut the head off
the statue by your door, so it will look like a tree; tell someone to
cut up the curtain and make it into floor-cushions that will be
stepped on; and tell someone to put the dog outside.'" So the
Messenger of Allaah(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did
that.(Narrated by Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi and Ahmad).
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) gave a
brief answer to this question, when he was asked: is it permissible to
pray in synagogues and churches where there are images, or not? Can we
say that they are the houses of Allaah, or not? He replied: they are
not the houses of Allaah, for the houses of Allaah are the mosques.
These (churches etc.) are houses in which people express their
disbelief (kufr) in Allaah. Even though Allaah may be mentioned in
them, the house is the same as its occupants, and their occupants are
kuffaar, so they are the houses of worship of the kuffaar.
As regards praying in them, there are three scholarly views in the
Madhhab of Ahmad and others: absolute prohibition, which is the view
of Maalik; absolute permission, which is the view of some of the
companions of Ahmad; and the third view, which is the correct view and
was narrated from 'Umar ibn al-Khattaab and others, and from Ahmad and
others. This view states that if there are images in the church, we
should not pray there, because the angels do not enter a house in
which there are images, and because the Prophet(peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) did not enter the Ka'bah until the images inside
it had been wiped out. Similarly, 'Umar said: we do not enter their
churches if there are images inside.
Churches are like mosques that are built over graves. Inal-Saheehaynit
says that the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was
told about a church in Ethiopia, and the adornments and images inside
it. He said: "When a righteous man among them dies, they build a
mosque (place of worship) over his grave and put those images there.
They will be the most evil of people with Allaah on the Day of
Resurrection." But the Sahaabah did pray in churches in which there
were no images. And Allaah knows best.
Praise be to Allaah.

Dought & clear, - Ruling on raising the voice in dhikr after the prayer.
Some brothers raise their voices in dhikr after finishing the prayer,
especially Fajr prayer, based on the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas and
others, to such an extent that they disturb other worshippers. When
they are told about this they say: We are following the Sunnah and if
they raised their voices like us they would not hear us and we would
not be disturbing them. Is what they are doing correct? Should the
others raise their voices when among them there are uneducated people
and elderly people who cannot keep up with the group. How much should
may the voice be raised?.
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
The fuqaha' differed with regard to raising the voice in dhikr after
the prayer. Some of them were of the view that it is Sunnah and some
regarded it as makrooh and said that the Prophet(peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) did not do that all the time; he only did that
in order to teach people then he stopped doing it.
The reason for the difference of opinion is that they differed
concerning the report narrated by al-Bukhaari (805) and Muslim (583)
from Abu Ma'bad, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbaas, that Ibn 'Abbaas (may
Allaah be pleased with him) told him that people used to raise their
voices in dhikr when they finished an obligatory prayer at the time of
the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Ibn 'Abbaas
said: I used to know when they had finished (the prayer) by that, when
I heard it.
According to a report narrated by al-Bukhaari (806) and Muslim (583),
Ibn 'Abbaas said: We knew when the prayer of the Messenger of
Allaah(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had finished from
the takbeer.
But they differed as to whether this indicated something that was done
all the time or not, and whether it went against the verse
(interpretation of the meaning):"And remember your Lord within
yourself, humbly and with fear and without loudness in words in the
mornings and in the afternoons, and be not of those who are
neglectful" [al-A'raaf 7:205]or not.
Among those who favoured raising the voice in dhikr after prayer were
al-Tabari, Ibn Hazm, Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyah] and others.
Among those who were of the view that it was for teaching only were
al-Shaafa'i and the majority.
Al-Shaafa'i (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: My view is that the
imam and the person praying behind him should remember Allaah after
they finish praying, but they should recite dhikr in a low voice
unless he is an imam who is to be learned from, in which case he
should recite in a loud voice until he thinks that it has been learned
from him, then he should recite quietly, because Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):"And offer your Salaah (prayer)
neither aloud nor in a low voice" [al-Isra' 17:110], meaning – and
Allaah knows best – du'aa'; "neither aloud" means do not raise your
voice and "nor in a low voice" means, so low that you cannot hear
yourself.
I think that what Ibn al-Zubayr narrated about the tahleel (reciting
Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah) of the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him),and what Ibn 'Abbaas narrated about his takbeer is like what
we have mentioned above. Al-Shaafa'i said: I think he only raised his
voice a little in order to teach the people, because most of the
reports that we have quoted do not mention reciting tahleel or takbeer
after saying the tasleem.
Some reports say that dhikr was recited after the prayer, as I have
described, and some say that he did not recite any dhikr after prayer.
Umm Salamah stated that he would stay after the prayer and she did not
refer to any dhikr out loud, and I think he only stayed to recite some
dhikr that was not said out loud. End quote fromal-Umm(1/127).
Ibn Hazm (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Raising the voice in
takbeer following every prayer is good. End quote
fromal-Muhalla(3/180).
al-Bahooti said inKashshaaf al-Qinaa'(1/366), referring to Ibn
Taymiyah's view regarding reciting dhikr out loud as mustahabb: The
Shaykh (i.e., Ibn Taymiyah) said: It is mustahabb to recite tasbeeh,
tahmeed and takbeer out loud following every prayer.
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on
him) was asked about the ruling on this issue and he replied:
Reciting dhikr out loud following the obligatory prayers is Sunnah.
This is indicated by the report narrated by al-Bukhaari from the
hadeeth of 'Abd-Allaah ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him),
that the people used to recite dhikr out loud when they finished
obligatory prayers at the time of the Prophet(peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him). He said: I used to know when they finished (the
prayer) by that, when I heard it. This was also narrated by Imam Ahmad
and Abu Dawood. Inal-Saheehaynit is narrated that al-Mugheerah ibn
Shu'bah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the
Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say when he
finished the prayer: "Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah…
(There is no god but Allaah alone, with no partner or associate…)."
And words cannot be heard unless the speaker says them out loud.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) and a
number of the earlier and later generations favoured this view, based
on the hadeeths of Ibn 'Abbaas and al-Mugheerah (may Allaah be pleased
with them). Reciting out loud is general and applies to every dhikr
that is prescribed after prayer, whether it is tahleel (sayingLaa
ilaaha ill-Allaah(there is no god but Allaah), tasbeeh (sayingSubhaan
Allaah(Glory be to Allaah)), takbeer (sayingAllaahu akbar(Allaah is
Most Great)) or tahmeed (sayingAl-hamdu Lillaah(praise be to Allaah)),
because of the general meaning of the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas. There is
no report from the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
to suggest differentiating between tahleel and other dhikrs, rather in
the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas it says that they would know that the
prayer of the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had
ended from the takbeers. Thus the view of those who say that the voice
should not be raised in tasbeeh, tahmeed and takbeer is refuted.
With regard to those who say that raising the voice in these dhikrs is
an innovation (bid'ah), they are wrong. How can something that was
known and practised at the time of the Prophet(peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) be a bid'ah? Shaykh Sulaymaan ibn Sahmaan (may
Allaah have mercy on him) said: It has been proven that the
Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did that and
approved of it, and the Sahaabah used to do that at the time of the
Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) after he taught it
to them, and he approved of them doing it, so they acted upon the
teachings of the Messenger(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him);
they did it and he approved of that after teaching them and he did not
criticize them.
As for the argument that reciting out loud is disapproved because of
the verse"And remember your Lord within yourself, humbly and with fear
and without loudness in words in the mornings and in the afternoons"
[al-A'raaf 7:205], we say: the one who was enjoined to remember his
Lord within himself, humbly and with fear, was the same one who used
to recite dhikr out loud following obligatory prayers. Does the one
who says this know better what Allaah meant than His Messenger did?
Or does he believe that the Messenger(peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) knew what was meant but went against it? Moreover, the verse
speaks of dhikr at the beginning and end of the day ("in the mornings
and in the afternoons"), not the dhikr that is prescribed following
prayers. In his Tafseer, Ibn Katheer interpreted reciting out loud as
meaning too loud or extremely loud.
As for the argument that reciting out loud is disapproved because of
the words of the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him):
"O people, take it easy", the one who said "O people, take it easy" is
the same one who used to recite dhikr out loud following the
prescribed prayers. There is a place for this and a place for that,
and truly following means following every text when appropriate.
Moreover, the context of the phrase "take it easy" indicates that they
used to raise their voices in a manner that caused them hardship,
hence he said "take it easy", i.e., be kind to yourselves and do not
exhaust yourselves; there should be no hardship or undue effort in
reciting dhikr out loud.
As for the one who says that it disturbs others, it may be said to
him: If you mean that it disturbs those who do not have the habit of
doing that, once the believer understands that it is Sunnah, it will
no longer disturb him. If you mean that it disturbs other worshippers,
then if there is no one among the worshippers who joined the prayer
late and is making up what he missed, then the raising of voices will
not disturb them at all, which is what actually happens, because they
are all taking part in it. But if there is someone among them who
joined the prayer late and is making up what he missed, if he is so
close to you that you will be disturbing him, then you should not
recite so loudly as to disturb him, so that he will not become
confused in his prayer, but if he is far away from you then he will
not be disturbed by your reciting out loud.
From what we have mentioned it is clear that the Sunnah is to raise
the voice in dhikr following the obligatory prayers, and that does not
go against any saheeh text or sound opinion. End quote.
He also said: When voices are mingled with one another then there will
be no disturbance, as you can see on Fridays when the people all read
Qur'aan out loud, then someone comes and prays and he is not disturbed
by that.
And he (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: What matters is the
correct view, which is that it is Sunnah to recite dhikr following the
prayers in the manner prescribed, and it is also Sunnah to recite it
out loud but not to raise the voice so much that it becomes annoying,
because that is not appropriate. Hence when the people raised their
voices in dhikr at the time of the Messenger SAWS (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) when they were coming back from Khaybar, he
said: "O people, take it easy." What is meant by raising the voice is
that which does not cause hardship or annoyance. End quote fromMajmoo'
Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen(13/247, 261).
Secondly:
From what we have mentioned above it is clear that the matter is broad
in scope, and that the difference of opinion is an ancient matter.
Perhaps the correct view is that which was mentioned by the Shaykh
(may Allaah have mercy on him) about raising the voice, but it should
be raised in a manner that does not cause annoyance.
What I mentioned about uneducated people and the elderly, I will
repeat it once again. It may be appropriate to read the words of the
Shaykh to them so that they may learn the Sunnah and be encouraged to
apply it.
May Allaah help us all to do that which He loves and which pleases Him.
And Allaah knows best.
especially Fajr prayer, based on the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas and
others, to such an extent that they disturb other worshippers. When
they are told about this they say: We are following the Sunnah and if
they raised their voices like us they would not hear us and we would
not be disturbing them.
Shaykh Sulaymaan ibn Sahmaan (may
Allaah have mercy on him) said: It has been proven that the
Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did that and
approved of it, and the Sahaabah used to do that at the time of the
Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) after he taught it
to them, and he approved of them doing it, so they acted upon the
teachings of the Messenger(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him);
they did it and he approved of that after teaching them and he did not
criticize them.

Imam Moosa Al-Kadhim (as) and Kindness:
There was a poor uneducated farmer who was very rude to our 7th Imam,
Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) whenever he saw him.
No matter how rude this man was, Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) never got
angry and he never said anything to the man.
Imam Musa Al-Kadhim's (as) friends wanted to punish the rude man, but
Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) would not allow them to. Imam Musa Al-Kadhim
(as) told them that he himself would teach this man a lesson.
One day Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) rode out to the rude man's farm where
the man was working. When the man saw Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) he
stopped working and put his hands on his hips, ready to be abusive
again.
Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) dismounted, went towards the man and greeted
him with a friendly, smiling face. Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) then told
him that he should not overwork himself and that the land he had was
very good. He then asked him how much he was expecting to receive for
the crop.
The farmer was amazed at Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) politeness and
sincerity, he waited a little then said that he was expecting to get
around 200 gold pieces. Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) took out a purse and
gave it to the farmer telling him that in it was 300 gold pieces, more
than the value of his crop. Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) told the man to
take the money and also to keep the crop, and that he hoped the man
would receive more for it.
The farmer faced with such kind behavior and good manner (Akhlaq), was
very ashamed of himself and asked Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) for
forgiveness.
After that when ever the man would see Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) he
would greet him very politely. Imam Musa Al-Kadhim's (as) friends were
very surprised!

Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) and Modesty:
One day 7th Imam, Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) was passing by the tent of
a Nomad who was a black man. Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) went up to him
and said "Salam Alaikum", in a warm and friendly manner.
Upon leaving Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) said good-bye to him in a very
kind manner with these words: "If there is anything I can do for you,
I'm more than willing to do it".
One of the followers of 7th Imam, Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) who saw
this attitude said "Is it suitable for you, the son of the messenger
of Allah (SWT), to sit and talk with a man of no reputation and make
such an offer as: If you need me in any work, I'm more than willing to
do it? Is it right for a man of great dignity to talk to a man like
that?"
7th Imam, Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) replied, "This is one of Allah's

Muslim, he is our brother in faith. After all, life does not remain
