Question
My question is on wind from the front passage offemales. I read in one
of your fatwas that the more correct view is that wind from the front
passage invalidates wudu and you also quotethe hadith - 'If a person
performed ablution, his ablution is not invalidated unless there is a
sound or a smell (of passing wind)." [Muslim]-However, i think most
women like me experience more of an 'air' or 'bubble' like sensation,
where it feels like tiny bubbles or wave of air is moving or passing
through the vagina or around the private parts - There is nosound and
no smell. Whatis the ruling on such a case.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify
that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad
, is His Slave and Messenger.
If a woman is certain thatwind has passed out from her front passage,
then her Wudhoo' (ablution) is invalidated according to the opinion we
adopt here in Islamweb. In this case, it is not stipulated that she
hears a sound or notices a smell; rather, the condition is to be
certain that wind has passed out.
An-Nawawi said: " Thewords of the Prophet , "until you hear a sound or
notice a smell" mean: until it is certainly knownthat one of them
(i.e. a sound or a smell) is present; but hearing and smelling are not
conditions (of Wudhoo' being ruled invalid) according to the consensus
of the Muslims. "
As for only having doubtsand feeling of air movingor bubbles existing
without being certain of passing out wind, then this requires nothing
anddoes not invalidate Wudhoo'. - - ▓███▓ Translator:->
