Wake Up!

Bismillah Al Rahman, Al Raheem:
"Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar" you hear the athaango on.
But you still decide to procrastinate, even when your family yells, "Come on!"
You think, "I still have time,before I really have to pray,'Asr is
still hours away."
Your head is saying "Go" but the Shaytaan is saying "No" so you go on anyway.
You go to your bed and decide to lie down, for just a few minutes you say.
But when your head hits the pillow, your body is overcome by a
feeling, different than any other way.
You suddenly feel hot and nervous, and your throat is parched and dry.
You hear a voice call, "Why did you disobey me?" But you are unable to
answer why.
Suddenly your life flashes before your eyes,
And feelings of guilt and regret are becoming hard to disguise.
Images and thoughts run through your head,
If only you did more useful things, but you wasted your time instead.
Every ill word you said, andevery prayer you missed is presented,
If only you took life more seriously…if only you repented.
You say, "I didn't know anybetter, I never knew to take a closer look"
But the voice replies, "Yes you did, you had The Holy Book."
"In it you will find the meaning of life, and words of inspiration.
And the perfect example for mankind, the Prophet who received the revelation."
"This life is but a stage, a mere drop compared to an ocean,
"So think not of the worldly things, and make sure that in your heart
lies devotion."
You wake up suddenly, alarmed and quivering.
"I wasted so much time!" you think, "good words and prayers I should
be delivering."
You pray, and then afterwards do some reflection,
And you decide to give your life a thorough inspection.
This life is so unpredictable;it can vanish very soon,
All that you see will perish, and only your deeds will remain with you.
So hold on to the Quran and the way of the Prophet(saw) for salvation,
And do not delay what you must do, remember Jannah,the ultimate destination.

Mum and Dad

Teaching me to refrain from sinning
Showing me right from wrong
Tarbiyyah provided all along
Saving me from doing misdeeds
Guiding me to increase good deeds
Instilling in me the desire to seek Allahs pleasure
Mum and Dad , what you did for me I cannot measure.
Oh, Allah , Look after my parents as they looked after me*
My Lord, make Jannah for them Your decree.
Ameen
*My Lord! Have mercy on them as they did care for me when I was
little. (Quran, Al-Isra' v. 24)
Waathilah (Allah be pleased with him) reportedthat the Prophet (صلى
الله عليه وسلم) said: "Four [types of people's] du'a are accepted: The
just leader, aman who prays for his absent brother, the prayer of the
oppressed person and the one who prays for his parents."
(Kanz-ul-Ummaal 423)

The Wisdom of the Prophet: the Incident of the Epileptic Woman

There is a hadith narrated by 'Ata bin Abi Rabah:
Ibn 'Abbas once said to me,"Shall I show you a womanof the people of Paradise?"
I said, "Yes."
He said, "This black lady came to the Prophet (peacebe upon him) and
said, 'I get attacks of epilepsy and my body becomes uncovered; please
invoke Allah for me.' The Prophet said (to her), 'If you wish, be
patient and you will have Paradise; and if you wish, I will invoke
Allah to cure you.' She said, 'I will remain patient,' and added, 'but
I become uncovered, so please invoke Allah for me that I may not
become uncovered.' So he invoked Allah for her." - Bukhari :: Book 7
:: Volume 70 :: Hadith 555
This hadith was published recently on MuslimasOasis.com , and I was
fascinated by the many comments from readers who have epilepsy and
have been inspired or comforted by this hadith.
One sister wrote:
"(This hadith) was a comfort to me as an epileptic when I had a
seizure outside of a masjid on the pavement in Philadephia during a
busy Jumaah afternoon. When I came to, my niqab was removed, my hijab
loosened, and my husband and a brother were helpingthe paramedics that
had arrived. Because of this hadith I felt comfort in spite of being
such a spectacle, alhamdulillah."
Another said:
"I too am an epileptic. When I first reverted to Islam over 3 years
ago, oneof the sisters who witnessed my Shahada wrote this hadith out
and gave it to me. It is a HUGE comfort to know this. May Allah ease
the trials of all epileptics and those who suffer from any disease
andgrant us all sabr. Ameen!"
And there were other similar comments, from men and women, ma-sha-Allah.
I don't have epilepsy or any other serious sickeness,Alhamdulillah
(praise God) for all His blessings. But as Iread the comments of
people who do have some illness and have been tremendously comforted
by this hadith, all of a sudden I realized the huge wisdom of the
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in whathe said to the epileptic woman. He
could have simply invoked for her and she would have been cured, and
then all of us 1,400 years later would read the story and say,
"Ma-sha-Allah, another miracle to prove his Prophethood." But it
wouldhave no lasting personal significance.
Instead, by asking the woman to be patient and promising her Jannah
(Paradise), the Prophet (pbuh) has sent a message of hope down through
the ages to all the other sufferers in the world: Allah sees your
suffering. Your pain will be compensated, and your patience rewarded
with the greatest possible prize.
Even today epilepsy cannotbe cured, though it can be controlled
somewhat through medication. So even now, all these years later, in
this age of medical wonders, this hadith still has immediate
significance for people who suffer from this illness, and in fact
frompeople who suffer from any illness, from cancer to leprosy to
bipolar disorder.
Another point of note is that every Prophet was sent with certain
types of miracles appropriate to theunderstanding of their people.
Musa (Moses, peacebe upon him) was sent with the staff of power andthe
white hand, because his mission was to a peoplesteeped in sorcery.
"Medicalmiracles" – curing the sick, even bringing the dead back to
life – were the hallmark of the Prophet Isaibn Maryam (Jesus son of
Mary, pbuh), because he was sent to a people who specialized in
healing arts.
If the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had made it his habit to cure the sick,
the Christians might say about us Muslims, "Oh, you are only taking
Biblical stories and applying them to your Prophet."
Instead, though the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) performed his shareof
wonders, he was given the greatest miracle of all, the Quran, a living
proof through the millenia, and asource of eternal guidance. This is
appropriate becausehis immediate mission wasto a people of poetry, of
language and eloquence; while his greater mission was to all of
humanity.
"Say: 'If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to
produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of
it, even if they backed up each other with help and support.'" (Quran
17:88)
Did the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), a mereshepherd and trader living
almost one and a half thousand years ago in the lonely deserts of
Arabia, realize the lasting significance of his actions? Did he
perceive the way hiswords and deeds would echo down the annals of
history?
Sure he did. He was a man of great wisdom, courage and natural
intelligence. Hedid not do things randomly, especially in matters of
worship. And hewas guided by Allah in these matters, so that his
actions could serve as an example for humanity untilthe Day of
Resurrection./

Are the angels superior or the Prophet and the righteous?

Do the angels worship Allah better and more perfectly than the
Prophets themselves?.
Praise be to Allaah.
The angels are honoured slaves and do not disobey Allah in what He
commands them to do; they do whatever they arecommanded. Allah
createdthem and made their innate nature one of obedience and worship
of Him. Some of them are appointed in charge of therevelation, some
are appointed in charge of provision, some are appointed in charge of
themountains and some are created to worship, pray, and glorify and
remember Allah.
At-Tirmidhi (2312) narrated, in a report whichhe classed as hasan,
that Abu Dharr said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of
Allah be upon him) said: "Verily I see what you do not see and I hear
what you do not hear. The heaven is creaking and it should creak, for
there is no space in it the width of four fingers but there is anangel
there, placing his forehead in prostration to Allah."
Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh at-Tirmidhi
In the hadeeth of the Isra' (Prophet's Night Journey) it says: "Then
the Much-Frequented House (al-bayt al-ma'moor) was raised up for me,
and I asked Jibreel (about it). He said: 'This is the Much-Frequented
House. Every day seventy thousand angels enter it and when they depart
from it, they never return to it.'"
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3207) and Muslim (164).
At-Tabari narrated in his Tafseer (21/127) from Ibn Mas'ood (may Allah
be pleased with him) that he said: Among the heavens is one in which
there is no space the size of a handspan but on it there is the
forehead of an angelor his foot standing there. Then he recited the
words:"Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you
Muslims stand in rows for your prayers). Verily, we (angels), we are
they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers)" [as-Saffaat
37:165-166].
Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in as-Saheehah, 1059
Such worship is beyond the capabilities of any human being, and they
are not able to do it. The angels do not slow down or become tired, as
Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
"But if they are too proud (to do so), then there are those who are
with your Lord (angels) glorify Him night and day, and never are they
tired"
[Fussilat 41:38].
What is instilled in human beings is human nature, including the
Prophets and Messengers of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon
them); they are different from the angels in their attributes and
natures.
The angels are able to do feats of worship that no human is able to do.
But the fact that their worship is greater does not mean that they are
superior to the Prophets; the Prophets are to be viewed on the basis
that they are human beings with human nature. It is because they have
risen tosuch a high status in obedience to their Lord that they have a
particularvirtue and sublime position, so much so that more than one
of the scholars has said that the righteous among mankindare of a
higher status thanthe angels, because the angels do not have any
inclination towards evil or disobedience, whereas therighteous among
mankindhave these inclinations, but they resist them and overcome them
in order to obey Allah.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah was asked about those who obey Allah
among the ummah of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon
him): are they superior to the angels?
He replied:
It was proven that 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr said: The angels said: O Allah,
You have created the sons of Adam, and they eat anddrink and enjoy
life in the world; create for us the Hereafter as you created the
world for them. He said: I shall not do that. They asked Him again and
He said: I shall not do that.Then they asked Him again two or three
times and He said: By My Glory, I cannot regard the righteous among
the descendants of the one whom I have created withMy own hand as
being likeone to whom I said: Be! And he was (i.e., the angels). This
was narrated by 'Uthmaan ibn Sa'eed ad-Daarimi.
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Salaam that he said: Allah has not
created any creation dearer to Him that Muhammad. It was said tohim:
Not even Jibreel and Mika'eel? He said to the one who asked him: Do
you know what Jibreel and Mika'eel are? Jibreel and Mika'eel are
subjugated creations like the sun and the moon. Allah has not created
anyone who is dearer to him than Muhammad (blessings and peace of
Allah be upon him)....

4a. The Earth: A Living Planet

4a.
There are many other balances established on earth for the continuity of life:
For instance, if the surface gravity were stronger than its current
value, the atmosphere would retain too much ammonia and methane
gasses, which would mean the end of life.If it were weaker, the
planet's atmosphere wouldlose too much water, and life on earth would
be impossible.
The thickness of the earth'scrust constitutes another one of the
delicate balances in the earth. If theearth's crust were thicker, too
much oxygen would betransferred from the atmosphere to the crust and
this would have severeeffects on human life.
If the opposite were true, that is, if the earth's crust were thinner,
volcanic and tectonic activity would be too great to permit life on
earth.
Another crucial balance for human life is the ozone level in the
atmosphere. If it were greater than its current value, the surface
temperatures would be toolow. If it were less, surface temperatures
would be toohigh, and there would be too much ultraviolet radiation at
the surface.
In fact, the absence of evena single of these balances would set the
end to life on earth. However, God hascreated the universe with
infinite wisdom and powerand designed the earth specially for human
life. Despite this fact, the majority of people lead their lives in
total ignorance of these events. In the Qur'an, God reminds people of
His blessings in the 13th verse of Surat al-Fatir:
"(God) makes night merge into day and day merge into night, and He has
made the sun and moon subservient, each one running until a specified
time. That is God, your Lord. The Kingdom is His. Those you call on
besides Him have no power over even the smallest speck." [Al-Fatir
35:13]
It is sufficient look at millions of dead planets in space in order to
understand that the delicate balances required for life on earth is
not a result of random coincidences. The conditions essential for life
are too complicated to have been formed "on their own" and at random,
and these conditions are specially created for life alone.
These balances we have briefly described so far are only a few of the
millions of intricate, interrelated balances and orders established so
that people can live in peace and safetyon the earth.
God has created the universe with infinitewisdom and power and
designed the earth specially for human life.
Examining only a part of the balances and harmony on the earth is
enough to comprehend the superior being of God and grasp theexistence
of a planned creation in every detail of the universe. It is no doubt
impossible for a person or any other living being to build such an
enormous balance and order. Nor are the components of this order such
as atoms, elements, molecules, and gasses capable of establishing an
order basedon such intricate and extremely delicate calculations and
measurements, and such fine tunings. This is because activities like
planning, ordering, arranging, calculating, and proportioning can only
be realized by beings that possess wisdom, knowledge and power.
TheExalted Being Who orders, plans and balances the entire universe to
be fit for life of human beings on a planet like earth and Who
sustains it with dramatically delicate measures and balances is God,
Who has Infinite Wisdom, Knowledge and Power.
In the Qur'an, it is stated that those people who are able to realize
these facts are only "people with intelligence":
"In the creation of the heavens and the earth, andthe alternation of
night and day, there are Signs forpeople with intelligence: those who
remember God, standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect
on the creation of the heavens and the earth: 'OurLord, You have not
created this for nothing. Glory be toYou! So safeguard us from the
punishment of the Fire." [Al-i-'Imran 3:190-191]/

4. The Earth: A Living Planet

4.
The earth is a living planet where many complex systems run perfectly
without stopping at all. When compared to other planets, it is evident
that inall its aspects the earth is specially designed for human life.
Built on delicate balances, life prevails in every spot of this
planet, from the atmosphere to the depths of the earth.
Exploring only a few of the millions of these delicate balances would
be sufficient to show that the world we live in is speciallydesigned
for us.
One of the most important balances in our planet is revealed in the
atmospherethat surrounds us. The atmosphere of the earth holds the
most appropriategasses in the most appropriate ratio needed for the
survival not only of human beings, but also of all the living beings
on the earth.
The 77% of nitrogen, 21% of oxygen and 1% of carbon dioxide as well as
other gasses readily available in the atmosphere represent the ideal
figures necessary for the survival of living beings. Oxygen, a gas
that is vital for living beings, helps food to be burned and converted
into energy in our bodies.
If the oxygen percentage inthe atmosphere were greater than 21%, the
cells in our body would soon start to suffer great damages. The
vegetation and hydrocarbon molecules needed for life would also be
destroyed. Ifthis percentage were any less, this would cause
difficulties in our respiration, and the food we eat would not be
converted into energy. Therefore, the 21% of oxygen in the atmosphere
is the most ideal quantity determined for life.
The conditions essential for life are too complicated to have been
formed"on their own"
No less than oxygen, other gasses like nitrogen and carbon dioxide are
also arranged in the ideal quantity for the needs of living beings and
the continuity of life. The amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere has
the ideal ratio to balance the harmful and burning effects of oxygen.
This ratiorepresents the most appropriate value required for
photosynthesis, which is essential for life's energy supply on the
earth. Moreover, the amount of carbon dioxide has the most appropriate
value that is needed to maintain the stability of the surface
temperature of the earth and to prevent heat loss especially at night
time. This gas, comprising 1% of the atmosphere, covers theearth like
a quilt and prevents the loss of heat tospace. If this amount were
greater, the temperature ofthe earth would increase excessively,
causing climatic instability and posing a serious threat against
living beings.
These proportions remain constant, thanks to a perfect system. The
vegetation covering the earth converts carbon dioxide to oxygen,
producing 190 billion tons of oxygen every day. The proportion of
other gasses is always kept constant on the earth by the help of
interconnected complex systems. Life is thus sustained.
In addition to the establishment of the ideal gas mixture required for
life on the earth, the mechanisms needed to preserve and maintain this
order are created alongsidewith it. Any break in the balance, though
instantaneous, or any change in the ratios even for a very short time
period, would mean the total destruction of life. Yet, this does not
happen. The formation of these gasses in the atmosphere just in the
amount people need, and the constant preservation of these
ratiosindicate a planned creation.
At the same time, the earthhas the ideal size in terms of magnitude to
possess anatmosphere. If the mass of the earth were a little less,
then its gravitational force would be insufficient and the atmosphere
would be dispersed in space. If its mass were a little greater, then
the gravitational forcewould be too much and the earth would absorb
all gasses in the atmosphere. There is an incredibly high number of
conditions required for the formation of an atmosphere such as the one
our world currently has and all of these conditions should exist
altogether to be able to talk of life.
The creation of these delicate proportions and balances in the sky is
mentioned in the 7th verseof Surat ar-Rahman:
"He erected heaven and established the balance." [Ar-Rahman 55:7]
The majority of people spend their lives without being aware of the
delicatebalances and subtle adjustments in the gas composition of the
atmosphere, the distance of the world to the sun or the movements of
planets. They are ignorant of the great significance of these balances
and adjustments to their own lives. However, even a minor deviation in
any one of these arrangements would create very severe problems
regarding the existence and survival of humankind.

3. THE PROPHETS' HOPEFUL CHARACTERS

As with everything else, the prophets are the bestexemplars of
trusting in Allah and remaining hopeful when faced with any
difficulty. They took only Allah as their friend, were sincerely bound
to His laws, and lived entirely for Him. At every instant of their
lives, theytrusted in and depended upon Him, for they knew that His
help was near at all times.
Given this, those believers who struggle toimitate their beautiful
character should take them as models of how to be hopeful. Their
resulting behavior, responses, and decisions will be healthy ones, and
thus will influence the people around them, who then will try to show
the same attitude.
Throughout history, many prophets were oppressed by their peoples'
leading unbelievers and prevented from advocating the good character
that Allah wills. The unbelievers preparedall manner of plots in
linewith their goals, and slandered and persecuted the prophets.
However, the prophets met this great oppression with patience,
trusting in Allah, and knowing that He is always with them. Thus they
never despaired, and resumed their struggle with even greater
enthusiasm and resolve. Their determination caused good character
spread among their people and made the unbelievers' efforts come to
naught.
On the following pages are some examples from the Qur'an of their lives.
Prophet Musa (as)
One prophet whom the unbelievers tried to undermine was Musa (as).
While his people were struck with fear anddriven to despair by
theirenemies, he never became hopeless or forgot that Allah would be
with them. In response to his sincerity and submission, Allah helped
them with a greatmiracle: He parted the sea in order to make a path
for them.
And when the two hosts came into sight of one another, Musa's
companions said: "We will surely be overtaken!"He said: "Never! My
Lord is with me, and He will guide me." So We revealed to Musa:
"Strike the sea with your staff" and it split in two, each part like a
towering cliff. (Surat ash-Shu'ara, 61-63)
Prophet Ayyub (as)
Even though he was afflicted with a serious disease, Ayyub (as) showed
no sign of sorrow or hopelessness. Rather, he turned to Allahwith a
deep attachment and asked to be cured. He saw a benefit in his
sickness and thus was patient. His excellent example of hopeful
patience is expounded inthe Qur'an, as follows:
Remember Our servant Ayyub, when he called upon his Lord: "Satan
hasafflicted me with exhaustion and suffering." [So he was told],
"Stamp your foot! Here is a cool bath and water to drink." We gave him
back his family and the same again with them as a mercy from Us, and a
reminder for people of intellect. [We said] "Take a bundle of rushes
in your hand and strike with that, but do not break your oath." We
found him steadfast. What an excellent servant! He truly turned to his
Lord. (Surah Sad, 41-44)
We responded to him and removed from him the harm that was afflicting
him. We restored his family to him, and the same again with them, as a
mercy direct from Us and a reminder to all worshippers. (Surat
al-Anbiya, 84)
Prophet Ya'qub (as)
Ya'qub (as), the father of Yusuf (as), is praised and used as an
example because of his beautiful character and devotion. In response
to the deceptive plan that his other sons devised against Yusuf (as),
he didnot lose hope in Allah but rather turned to Him in complete
sincerity andasked for Yusuf (as) to be returned:
He said: "I complain about my grief and sorrow to Allah alone, because
I know things from Allah that you do not know. My sons, seek news of
Yusuf and his brother, and do not despair of solace from Allah. No one
despairs of solace from Allah except for people who do not believe."
(Surah Yusuf, 86-87)
Prophet Ibrahim (as)
Throughout history, all ofAllah's prophets and messengers
commandedpeople not to lose hope in His mercy. The messengers who came
togive the good news to Ibrahim (as) that his wifewould bear a child
displayed the same attitude:
They said: "We bring you good news of the truth, so do not be among
those who despair."(Surat al-Hijr, 55)
Allah praises Ibrahim (as)in the Qur'an. However, his people failed to
appreciate and recognizehis sincerity and truthfulness. They even
tried to burn him alive. His attachment to Allah in the face of all
these events has always made him a great example for Muslims.
Despite the rejection of his people, Ibrahim (as) showed a great
devotionto Allah by never losing faith in Him, and by relying on His
mercy and submitting to his destiny. By making the fire cool, Allah
allowed no harm or pain to touch him.

The system could not have developed in segments because none of the
segments could possibly function alone at all.
Hence the concept of irreducible complexity demolishes the theory of
evolution from its foundations. What is reallyinteresting is the fact
that Darwin also worried aboutthese very prospects. He wrote in On The
Origin of Species :
"If the impossibility of formation of a complex organ through a series
of small changes was ever to be proven my theory would have certainly
collapsed. However I couldnot find such an organ..." (Charles Darwin,
The Originof Species: A Facsimile of the First Edition , Harvard
University Press, 1964, page 189.)
Darwin could not or mightnot have wanted to find such an organ at the
premature levels of 19th century science. However the science of 20th
century did study the nature down to minute details and proved that
majority of living structures embody irreducible complexity.
Therefore, Darwin's theoryhas most "certainly collapsed" just as he
feared.
As we examine the living beings we will notonly see an immense error
Darwinism makes but also witness the greatness of wisdom that
these systems were created with . These mechanisms will be found
anywhere from the wings of a bird to inside a bat's skull. Hence we
will see the indisputable evidencesof God's creation without error.
Likewise, the power and faculty of God to create without error is
expressed in a surah of Qur'an as follows:
"He is God - the Creator, the Maker, the Giver of Form. To Him belong
theMost Beautiful Names. Everything in the heavens and earth glorifies
Him. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise." (Qur'an, Al-Hashr, 59:24)

2. The design in nature

Let's think of an aspirin pillfor a moment; you will immediately
recall the mark in the middle of it. This mark is designed in order to
help those who intake half a dose. Every product that we see around us
is of a certain design even though not assimple as the aspirin pill.
Everything from vehicles we use to go to work, to TV remotes.
"Design", briefly, means a harmonious assembling ofvarious parts into
an orderly form towards a common goal. Going by this definition, one
would have no difficulty in guessing that a car is a design. This is
because there is a certain goal, which is to transport people and
cargo. In realization of this goal various parts such as the engine,
tires and body are planned and assembled in the plant.
However, what about a living creature? Can a bird and mechanics of its
flyingbe a design as well? Before giving an answer, let us repeat the
evaluation we did for the example of a car. The goal at hand, in this
case, is to fly. For this purpose, hollowed bones, strong muscles that
move these bones are utilized together with feathers capable of
suspending in the air. Wings are formed aerodynamically, and
metabolism is in tune withthe bird's need for high levels of energy.
It is obvious that the bird is product of a certain design.
If one explores other creatures besides a bird, similar facts are
attained. There are examples of a certain meticulous design in every
creature. If one continues further on this quest, one would discover
that our selves are also a part of this certain design. Your hands
that hold these pages are functional as no robot hands could ever be.
Your eyes that read these lines are making vision possible with such
focus that the best camera on earth simply cannot.
Hence one arrives at this important conclusion; all creatures in
Nature, including us, are of a Design . This, in turn, shows the
existence of a Creator Who designs all creatures at will, sustains the
entire nature and holds absolute power and wisdom.
However, this truth is rejected by the theory of evolution that was
formedin the middle of 19th century. The theory set forth in Charles
Darwin's book " On The Origin of Species " asserts that all creatures
evolved within achain of coincidences and essentially mutated from one
another.
According to the fundamental assertion of this theory all living
thingsgo through minute and coincidental changes. If these
coincidental changeshelp the creature then it gains advantage over the
others, which in turn is carried onto following generations.
This scenario has been passed around as if it is a very scientific and
convincing one for 140 years. When scrutinized under a bigger
microscopeand when compared against the examples of the Design in
creatures Darwin's theory paints a very different picture i.e.
Darwinism's explanation of creation is nothing more than a
self-conflicting vicious circle.
Let us first focus on the"coincidental changes". Darwin could not
provide a comprehensive definition to this concept due to lack of
genealogicalknowledge in his time. The evolutionists who followed him
put forth theconcept of "mutation" on this subject. Mutation is
arbitrary disconnections, dislocation or shifts of genes in living
things. Most important point is that there is not one single mutation
in history that is shown to improve the condition of genetic
information of a creature. Nearly all the known casesof mutations
disable or harm these creatures and the rest are neutral in effect.
Therefore, to think that a creature can improve through mutation is
same as shooting at a crowd of people and hope that the injuries will
result in healthier and improved individuals. This would clearly be
nonsense.
As importantly, on contrary to all the scientific data, even if one
assumes that a certain mutation could actually improve a being's
condition,
Darwinism still cannot be delivered from inevitable collapse. The
reason for this is a concept called"irreducible complexity".
The implication of this concept is that majority of systems and organs
in living things function as a result of various independent parts
working together, elimination or disabling ofeven one of which would
be enough to disable the entire system or organ.
For example, an ear perceives sounds only through a chain reaction of
a series of smaller organs. Take out or deform one of these, e.g. one
of the bones of the middle ear, and there would be no hearing
whatsoever. In order for an ear to perceive a variety of components
such as auditory meatus, malleous, incus and stapesbones, tympanic
membrane, cochlea and fluid, sensory cells,

No dispute among the believers

One of the secrets of the believers' success is the warm brotherhood
and solidarity among them. The Qur'an emphasizes theimportance of
unity: "Truly, Allah loves those who fight in His Cause inbattle array
as if they were a solid cemented structure." (Surat as-Saff, 61:4)
Any statement or behaviour that may damage this close brotherhood
would be an adversary act against religion itself. Allah warns the
believers against this threat in the Qur'an:
"Obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest you
lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering:for
Allah is with those who patiently persevere." (Surat al-Anfal, 8:46)
Hence, the sincere believermust be extremely cautious of entering into
such disputes, avoiding words or manners that may hurt his brothers.
Moreover, he should behave in such as way as to increase affection and
confidence among them. In the Qur'an, we have theclear decree:
"Say to My servants that they should only say those things that are
best: for Satan sows dissensions among them: Satan is to man anavowed
enemy." (Surat al-Isra, 17:53)
If a believer does not havethe same opinion as his brother on some
issue, he should nevertheless behave and talk in the most modest and
humble way. Sharing ideas should remain on the basis of "consultation"
and not "debate". If a contention isobserved among two other
believers, then whatone should do is indicated in the verse below:
"The believers are but a single Brotherhood. So make peace and
reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah,
so that you may receive His Mercy." (Surat al-Hujraat, 49:10)
It should be noted that even a minor argument of any kind may have
very negative effects on the Cause.

The Deen with Allah Is Islam

Throughout the course of history, Allah has revealed the truth faith
through Hisprophets. All the prophets there have ever been havecalled
on people to believein the one Allah, to obey the and all the other
prophets, to believe in the angels, destiny and the Day of Reckoning,
to do good for Allah's approval and to possess good moralvalues. Allah
has from time to time ordained changes in the provisions of the
religions He has sent down, but essentially all the prophets have
called people to Islam and to be Muslims. Because thetrue faith in the
Sight of Allah is Islam:
The Deen with Allah is Islam.(Surah Al 'Imran, 19)
The Prophets Noah (pbuh),Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Jesus and all the
other prophets have called on the peoples to which they were sent to
adopt Allah's true religion to and revealed to them that they were
Muslims. In verses 67 and 68 of Surah Al 'Imran it is revealed that
the Prophet Abraham (puh) was a Muslim:
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. but aman of pure natural
belief – a Muslim. He wasnot one of the idolaters.
The people with the strongest claim to Abraham are those who followed
him and this Prophet and those who have iman. Allah is the Protector
of the believers. (Surat al-'Imran, 67-68)
This verse reveals how theProphet Jacob (pbuh) advised his sons to "be Muslims:"
Ibrahim directed his sons to this, as did Jacob: 'My sons! Allah has
chosen this deen for you, so do not die except as Muslims.' (Surat
al-Baqara, 132)
The Prophet Jesus (pbuh) and his disciples also said they were Muslims:
When 'Isa sensed disbelief on their part, he said, 'Who will be my
helpers to Allah?' The disciples said, 'We are Allah's helpers. We
believe in Allah. Bear witness that we are Muslims. (Surah Al 'Imran,
52)
The Prophet Moses (pbuh) also called on his people to be Muslims:
Moses said, 'My people! if you believe in Allah, then put your trust
in Him, if you are Muslims.' (Surah Yunus, 84)
As we have seen, all prophets have called on their peoples to be
Muslims, in other words, to the true faith in the Sight of Allah. The
true books and law that Allah sent down to these prophets gradually
became distorted and departed from their original forms. But Allah has
promised to preserve the Qur'an uncorrupted and has revealed that
everyone should abide by the Qur'an, the last true book. Therefore, if
a Jew who genuinely loves the Prophet Musa (pbuh) wishes to live by
the religion brought by the prophet, that can only be possible by
living by the Qur'an. In the same way, ifa Christian who sincerely
follows the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) wishes to live by pure Christianity
as it was in the time of the disciples,then he must abide by
theQur'an. Because the truest,finest and purest form of what the
Prophet Moses (pbuh) and the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) taught appears in
the Qur'an. When Christians and Jews say they believe in the oneAllah,
"Lailaha illaAllah," and that the Prophet Muhammad (saas) is the last
true prophet,"Muhammadan Rasulullah," and abide by the Qur'an, then
they will be complete followers of the Prophet Moses (pbuh) and the
Prophet Jesus (pbuh) they love so much. And by Allah's leave, this
will happen with the coming of the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) in this
century and Islam, the onetrue faith, will rule the world under the
leadership of the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) and Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh).

How do some rocks without any legs, arms, muscles or brains ''walk''? Whatis the wisdom behind traveling rocks?

Walking is an ordinary everyday activity . That is why it is not
surprising to see a bird , a man or a cat walking since they are all
living beings. However, something so ordinary for living organisms is
quite extraordinary when it is seen in nonliving things.
A miracle has been taking place in California's Death Valley National
Park . Rocks that weigh up to a 100 pounds "walk", sometimes traveling
morethan a hundred yards leaving straight , twisted , or zigzagged
trails behind them in one or more directions.
THE MYSTERY BEHIND THEWALKING ROCKS HAS BEEN SOLVED BY ADVANCED SCIENCE.
The "walking rocks" phenomenon has confounded the scientific community
. Scientists have puzzled over the rocks at the valley for a century.
In 2010, researchers at NASA started investigatingthe area. Sensors
were placed on the flat area at depths of three-quarters to four
inches deep. The units registered that the top layer of the soil froze
in March , and it was wet up to three inches deep in April. According
to this data, the team drew someconclusions .
In March, the snow on the surrounding mountains flows into the valley
as a thin layer of water and produces a circle of ice . In April ,
when a second layerof water flows into the valley, this " ice collar"
under the rocks act as a boat on which the rocks float.
The ice collars are as hard as glass , therefore they leave a trail on
the surfaceof the valley , but when they melt and disappear , only the
rocks and their trails are seen afterwards.
Because there is no rain orearthquakes in this part ofthe valley , it
eliminates the possible effects of these occurrences .
Another early suggestion was that the rocks were driven by gravity .
However, this theory was also discounted when it was revealed that
most of the rocks are actually traveling uphill.
Walking rocks is not an ordinary event witnessed everywhere. It is
observedin only one area on Earth as a proof of Allah's perfect
creation. Allah is the owner and Creator of the living and the non
-living . He sometimes reminds us of this fact by creating
extraordinary occurrences like the one on Death Valley. He also
creates the causes like the physical conditions such asrain , wind,
etc. to form the unexpected result. Both the cause and the result is
his doing.
A Qur'anic verse points to this fact explaining how non-living rocks
move with the awe of Allah :
Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones oreven
harder. For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth,
and there are some of them that split open andwater comes out, and
there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is
not unaware of what you do. ( Surat al-Baqara, 74)
Even more fascinating than this is the movementof giant mountains and
massive continents , whichweigh millions of tons. They all move with
Allah's permission. This information that we have learned of only
relatively recently, was stated in theQuran with 1,400 years ago in
this verse:
And if there was any Qur'an by which the mountains would be removed
or the Earth would be broken apart or the dead would be made to speak,
[it wouldbe this Qur'an], but to Allah belongs the affair entirely.
Then have those who believed not accepted that had Allah willed, He
would have guided the people, all of them? And those who disbelieve do
not cease to be struck, for what they have done, by calamity - or it
will descend near their home- until there comes the promise of Allah .
Indeed, Allah does not fail in [His] promise ( Surah Ra'd , 31)./

5a. The miracle of iron

Surat al-Hadid 25, which refers to iron, contains two rather
interesting mathematical codes.
"Al- Hadid" is the 57th sura in the Qur'an. The abjad of the word
"Al-Hadid" in Arabic, when the numerological values of its letters are
added up, is also 57.
The numerological value of the word "hadid" alone is 26. And 26 is the
atomic number of iron.
Moreover, iron oxide particles were used in a cancer treatment in
recentmonths and positive developments were observed. A team led by
Dr. Andreas Jordan, at the world famous Charité Hospital in Germany,
succeeded in destroying cancer cells with this new technique developed
for the treatment of cancer—magnetic fluid hyperthermia (high
temperature magnetic liquid). As a result of this technique, first
performed on the 26-year-old Nikolaus H., no new cancercells were
observed in the patient in the following three months.
This method of treatment can be summarised as follows:
1. A liquid containing iron oxide particles is injected into the
tumour by means of a special syringe. These particles spread
throughout the tumour cells. This liquid consists ofthousands of
millions of particles, 1,000 times smaller than the red
bloodcorpuscles, of iron oxide in1 cm3 that can easily flow through
all blood vessels. 5
2. The patient is then placed in a machine with apowerful magnetic field.
3. This magnetic field, applied externally, begins to set the iron
particles in the tumour in motion. During this time the temperature in
the tumour containing the iron oxide particles rises by up to 45
degrees.
4. In a few minutes the cancer cells, unable to protect themselves
from the heat, are either weakened or destroyed. The tumour may then
be completely eradicated with subsequent chemotherapy. 6
In this treatment it is only the cancer cells that are affected by the
magnetic field, since only they contain the iron oxide particles. The
spread of this technique is a major development in the treatment of
this potentially lethal disease. In the treatment of such a widespread
disease as cancer, the use of the expression "iron in whichthere lies
great force andwhich has many uses formankind" (Qur'an, 57:25) in the
Qur'an is particularlynoteworthy. Indeed, in that verse, the Qur'an
maybe indicating the benefits of iron for human health. (Allah knows

6. The miracle of iron

Iron is one of the elementshighlighted in the Qur'an. In Surat
al-Hadid, meaningIron, we are informed:
And We also sent down iron in which there lies great force and which
has many uses for mankind… (Qur'an, 57:25)
The word " anzalna ," translated as "sent down" and used for iron in
the verse, could be thought of having a metaphorical meaning to
explain that iron has been given to benefit people. But, when we take
into considerationthe literal meaning of the word, which is, "being
physically sent down fromthe sky," as in the case of rain and Sun
rays, we realize that this verse implies a very significant scientific
miracle. Because, modern astronomical findings have disclosed that the
iron found in our world has come from giant stars in outer space. 1
Not only the iron on earth,but also the iron in the entire Solar
System, comesfrom outer space, since thetemperature in the Sun is
inadequate for the formation of iron. The sun has a surface
temperature of 6,000 degrees Celsius, and a core temperature of
approximately 20 million degrees. Iron can only be produced in much
larger stars than the Sun, where the temperature reaches afew hundred
million degrees. When the amount of iron exceeds a certain level in a
star, the star can no longer accommodate it, and it eventually
explodes in what is called a "nova" or a "supernova." These explosions
make it possible for iron to be given off into space. 2
One scientific source provides the following information on this subject:
There is also evidence for older supernova events: Enhanced levels of
iron-60in deep-sea sediments have been interpreted as indications that
a supernova explosion occurred within 90 light-years of the sun about
5 million years ago. Iron-60 is a radioactive isotope of iron, formed
in supernova explosions, which decays with a half life of 1.5 million
years. An enhancedpresence of this isotope in a geologic layer
indicates the recent nucleosynthesisof elements nearby in space and
their subsequent transport to the earth (perhaps as part of dust
grains). 3
All this shows that iron didnot form on the Earth, but was carried
from Supernovas, and was "sentdown," as stated in the verse. It is
clear that this fact could not have been known in the 7th century,
when the Qur'an was revealed. Nevertheless, this fact is related in
the Qur'an, the Word of Allah, Who encompasses all things in His
infinite knowledge.
Astronomy has also revealed that other elements also formed outside
the Earth. In the expression "We also sent down iron" in the verse,
the word "also" may well be referring to that idea. However, the fact
that the verse specifically mentionsiron is quite astounding,
considering that these discoveries were made at the end of the 20th
century. In his book Nature's Destiny, the well-known microbiologist
Michael Denton emphasizes the importance of iron:
Of all the metals there is none more essential to lifethan iron. It is
the accumulation of iron in the center of a star which triggers a
supernova explosion and the subsequent scattering of the vital atoms
of life throughout the cosmos. It was the drawing by gravity of iron
atoms to the center of the primeval earth that generated the heat
which caused the initial chemical differentiation of the earth, the
outgassing of the early atmosphere, and ultimately the formation of
the hydrosphere. It is molten iron in the center of the earth which,
acting like a gigantic dynamo, generates the earth's magnetic field,
which in turn creates the Van Allen radiation belts that shield the
earth's surface from destructive high-energy-penetrating cosmic
radiation and preserve thecrucial ozone layer from cosmic ray
destruction…
Without the iron atom, there would be no carbon-based life in the
cosmos; no supernovae, no heatingof the primitive earth, no atmosphere
or hydrosphere. There would be no protective magnetic field, no Van
Allen radiation belts, no ozone layer, no metal to make hemoglobin [in
human blood], no metal to tame the reactivity of oxygen, and no
oxidative metabolism.
The intriguing and intimate relationship between life and iron,
between the red color of blood and the dying of some distant star, not
onlyindicates the relevance of metals to biology but also the
biocentricity of the cosmos… 4
This account clearly indicates the importance of the iron atom. The
fact that particular attention is drawn to iron in the Qur'an also
emphasises the importance of the element.:->

some of whom are described to be "sincere" in the Qur'an, and such
provocations' distancing the members of the three religions from one
another.
That is because satan is aware that union of those who say "Allah is
One" andthose representatives of love will lead to an extraordinary
and invincible power in the world. Thus genuine Muslims must think in
compliance with the Qur'an and the hadith of our Prophet (saas) and be
aware of this stealthy plot of satan.
We, as Muslims, must fulfillthe requirements our religion of Islam
which commands love, beauty, peace, compassion, democracy and
self-sacrifice.
- We must approach Muslims, Christians, Jews and all human
beings regardless of their religionand race, with real love.
- We must eliminate the corrupted rationale of those
provocateurs who try to plot against Islam and for this end embrace
all Muslims, Christians, Jews and those who side with love and
companionship.
- We must keep in mind that all the conflicts in the world
stem from the disunion of believers. This is related in the Qur'an
thus: Those who are disbelievers are the friends and protectors ofone
another. If you do not act in this way there will be turmoil in the
land and great corruption. (Surat al-Anfal,73)
No one can come up and say, "I have made an anti-Islamic film" or "I
have drawn a caricature against Islam" when;
- Believers declare their unity in the face of provocations,
- Good people embrace one another with love andcompassion,
- When those who say "Allah is One" unite together as one and
establish a powerful unity.
These people will simply lose their power to engage in such evil acts
in the face of the powerful unity of believers and the representatives
of love. The fear that their unity and power cause will suffice them.
The greatest revenge against provocateurs is the union of members of
all religions around the world under the umbrella of love and peace.
Establishing this unity is the most urgent duty incumbent upon us,
Muslims, for this is what Allah commands us in the Qur'an./

The American-produced film with a blasphemous content against Islam
and our Prophet (saas) – surelyIslam and our blessed Prophet (saas)
are beyond that – has instantly dominated the world agenda. Some
people haveimmediately fallen into the trap of this provocative act.
They started engaging in protests, attacked embassies, and even
killedpeople. They accused governments, states, nations, races and
religions simply because of an ordinary film based on the distortions
produced by an ordinary person. Newspapers, in their own eyes,
disseminated "an aggressive, hate-monger image of a Muslim who burns
flags and engages inferocious activities." A tremendous propaganda of
"Bloody Islam" has been initiated. For days, anti-Islamists all over
the world distorted these propaganda materials as they liked and used
them for their own benefits.
The provocation accomplished its goal in a short while: as a result,
an ordinary, anti-Islamic producer of a very ordinary film, which is
entirely divorced from facts and based on distortions, has become
world famous. This weird film which is composed of made-up stories
which would otherwise not be heard by anyone if these incidents have
not occurred also became well-known.
Those who, in their own eyes, strive to show Islam as a religion of
blood and vulgarity, have accomplished their stealthy intentions and
those who say "Allah is One" were set against one another.
What is astonishing is that, upon the word of an impertinent
anti-Islamic person, Muslims immediately believed thatthis movie was
about our blessed our Prophet (saas).This incomprehensible assertion
of an impertinent person was somehow taken seriously. Muslims adopted
this assertion simply because he told so, not realizing the fact that
they have become instrumental in spreading this provocation. They did
not understand that they werefallen into a trap. They could not
realize that the goal of this poor, ordinary person was to become
renowned and to disintegrate religions. The fact is however, believers
had to think in line with the Qur'an and realize thatthey have been
instrumental in making anordinary person accomplish his goal. They had
to comprehend that they had become instrumental in presentingan
unknown person like a very important individual.
Insult belongs to those who utter it. The producer of this movie told
himself in this movie and thus insulted himself.
There is a well-known phrase: insults always belong to the ones who
utter them. The producer of the film made a film about himself. In his
film, he described his own flawed character traits, his distorted
ideas and made all the insults to himself.
It is very striking that Muslims take such a very common person who
has fallen into the situation of hurling insults to himself so
seriously.
But why have Muslims been so rapidly provoked?There are two reasons of
it. First; ignorance and lackof knowledge. Second; fanaticism, that is
bigotry. The fact is however, lack of knowledge is a concept that also
includes bigotry, because in our day many people assume the
bigotrythey experience to be Islam. They think that being a Muslim
necessitates feeling rage and spilling blood. For thisreason, they
take an impertinent seriously, invade embassies, murder people, curse
countries and nations, burn flags and continuously mention blood and
rage.
These Muslims are even unaware that they, in fact, commit a sin. The
great majority of these people are driven away from the Qur'an by
bigots. The fact is, according to the Qur'an taking the soul of an
innocent soul; declaring religions, nations and races as enemies;
giving the image of hatred and fear to human beings is unlawful. This
way, these people commit sins. Remaining under the influence of filthy
indoctrinations of bigots, they believe the pervertedreligion made up
by them to be the true religion. However what matters in the religion
that one experiences by living by the Qur'an is to eliminate the seeds
of rage and to treat everyone of every religion, language, race and
nation with love. Thatis why these people have the need to urgently
try tounderstand the soul and essence of the Qur'an.
The goal of the satan is driving a wedge among believers; Muslims must
not permit this to happen
Satan always tries to weaken believers and he commits this by stirring
upsources of disorder that will drive them apart. Satan have always
taken advantage from disbelievers' union, some Muslims' harboring ill

Everything is possible for those who believe

Nourish your dreams. To achieve anything requires faith in Allah,
belief in yourself, imagination, vision, persistence, hard work, and
sometimes blood and tears.

anything you can envision, and many things you can't.

What they didwas impossible – there's noother word for it. But through
the power of Allah, and the tremendous determination of one man, and
the faith of those who followed him, the impossible became possible.
Because of their faith and sacrifices, you andI can utter the words, "
Laa ilaha-il-Allah " and put them into practice in our lives.
Your dreams don't have to be that grand. Whether you dream of building
a new masjid for your community, writing a novel, competing in sports,
becoming a doctor, doing charity work overseas, memorizing the Quran,
or any other good and meaningful goal – it can beachieved by the will
of Allah. But you can't just sit back and wait for it to happen. Feed
your dream as you would feed a newly planted seed. Care for it, devote
time to it, don't give up, and watch it grow before your eyes.

4a. Your “Stuff” is Not a Part of You

I chastised her roughly (verbally only) andshe cried. I immediately
felt deeply guilty and I hugged her and told her it was okay. I still
regret that moment and I wish I could take it back. It would have been
enough for me to tell her once, kindly, that she should not do that
again. Instead I made my beautiful child cry because of a meaningless
possession. I don't ever want to do that again. One moment of
happiness with my child is more precious to me than a thousand stupid
headphones.
I want to divorce myself as much as possible from the desire for
needless possessions.
When I was a bicycle messenger in San Franciscomany years ago, I had a
colleague, Jennie, who could pack all her possessions in a pair of
bicycle saddlebags. Anything that wouldn't fit in the bags, she'd give
away. She had a small flat in the Mission district, and when later she
was moving to a little place up on 2nd Avenue, she called me and a few
friends over to help. It turned out she called us not to help her
pack, but so she could give away to us whatever possessions she had
accumulated that wouldn't fit in her saddlebags. I had another
messenger friend, Ben, who lived in a small travel van. He was a
kayaker and sailor. When not working, Ben spent much of his time on
the sea or the bay. Interestingly, Jennie and Ben were both
non-Muslims, yet they livedmore simply than any Muslim I have known.
I can't live that simply, or I'm not willing to, but I do envy those
who can. They have discovered somethingdeep and true about the nature
of the world. Life is not about stuff that costs too much, takes up
space, wears out, breaks, and contributes nothing to the world.
Rather, life is about experiences, family, learning, worshiping, and
leaving a legacy of compassion and love. All those things last beyond
our lifetimes, and beyond the veil of this life.
May Allah help us to live simply, and to be generous,and to value
'ibadah, family and love more than "stuff"./

4. Your “Stuff” is Not a Part of You

You are not defined by the stuff you own. Your "stuff" is not a part
of you. Your "stuff" will break, disappear, or be left behindone day.
In fact what truly defines our character is how we react to loss. If
we were stripped of all the possessions we love, who would we be in
that moment? Would we still be grateful to Allah, patient, trusting?
Hopefully it never comes tothat. But seriously, those times of
greatest sadness and joy are when our thoughts must turn to Allah, The
Eternal, The Merciful, The Wise.
Allah says, "Never will you attain the good until you spend from that
which you love. And whatever you spend – indeed, Allahis Knowing of
it." [Quran 3: 92]
Think about that. Allah is telling us to give away the things that we
love the most! SubhanAllah! Why does Allah ask this of us? Is it to
liberate us from slavery to material possessions? To f0cus our minds
on Allah and the aakhirah (hereafter)? To prevent the evil that
results from the love of money? To benefit the poor?
Yes, for all of those reasons. Excessive attachment to any
materialthing is misguidance. The love of possessions is a spiritual
trap.
I have at times given away things that were precious to me, thinking
they wouldmean as much to the otherperson as they do to me. Sometimes
they do, and sometimes they don't, and yes it hurts my feelings when
the other person doesn't value my gift; but eventually I get over it,
because the point is the actof giving. And maybe – Insha-Allah – I'll
have something to show Allah on Yawm Al-Qiyamah (the Day of
Resurrection), maybe I'll be able to say, "O Allah, I gave away
thesethings that I loved," and maybe that will earn me some
forgiveness, Allah knows.
There is a powerful spiritual lesson in taking anobject that you love,
and giving it away. I remembera middle-aged brother named AbdulKareem
(Damis-Salaam, for those ofyou who know him). He worked hard,
supported a family, and got by on a tight budget. One time he got a
nice brown leather coat, the long kind that comes down to the knees.
It looked good on him. Then a younger brother, a teenager with poor
manners, said, "Man, that's a cool coat. Can I have it?" Without a
word, AbdulKareem took off the coat and gave it to the teenager.
There's such a strength of character, such freedom from attachment, in
being able to do that. That was 27 years ago and I imagine that
AbdulKareem (who is an old man now) has forgotten all about it. But
Allah sees and remembers.
This deep generosity was one of the qualities of the Prophet Muhammad
(peacebe upon him). It's said that he never refused anyone who asked
him for anything, if it was his to give.
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: "Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) was the
mostgenerous of all the people, and he used to reach the peak in
generosity in the month of Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used
to meet him every night of Ramadan to teach him the Qur'an. Allah's
Messenger was the most generous person, even more generous than the
strong uncontrollable wind." [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Number
5]
Aside from being generous,the Messenger of Allah (sws) had no
attachment to"stuff". The extreme simplicity of his lifestyle was
astounding. He never ate lavish food (not even soft bread), never ate
on a dining cloth, and never filled his belly even with barley bread.
His household often went many days with no cooking fire in the oven,
living on dates and water, and occasionally a glass of milk donated by
the neighbors. His mattress was a piece of tanned skin filled with
rough palm fibers.
Once Umar Ibn al-Khattab (radhi allahu anhu) enteredupon the Messenger
of Allah (sws) when he was lying on a mat of palm fibers that had left
marks on his side. Umar (ra) said: "O Messenger of Allah, why do you
not get something more comfortable than this?" He (sallallahu alaihi
wa-sallam) said: "What do I have to do with this world? My
relationship with this world is like that of a traveler on a
hotsummer's day, who seeksshade under a tree for an hour, then moves
on." [Musnad Ahmad and al-Hakim. Saheeh al-Jamee (5545)]
So you see, he lived like this not out of necessity, but out of
choice. Money often came into his household (especially later in his
life when Islam has spread to all of Arabia) but he would give it all
to the poor, retaining nothing.
Excessive possessions are anchors that drag us down.The hunger for
material goods is a kind of sickness. It causes us more stress than
happiness, and in the end we gain nothing genuine.
I once got angry with my daughter when she was nomore than four years
old, because she pulled the softcover off my headphones and tore

Embodying the Grace of Peace

The World As It Is. . .
Having been invited to speak about "World Peace and Harmony," I ask
myself: What is the cause and nature of conflict in today's world?
Does religion contribute to conflict as so many people assert? And can
the idealistic calls for world peace by religious leaders produce any
real effect? How can I speak anything more than truisms, sentimental
clichés, and ideas we've all heard before? Can the teachings of the
world's great mystics effect any real change on the societal level or
are these teachingsmeant only for personal transformation?
Without a doubt spiritual teachings can bring more peace into one's
own heartand increase peace between people, perhaps, even, among
different communities. But peace ona global level? If we are to work
toward peace and harmony at the global level, we must hope to
understand the world as it is.
The more I study the situation at the global level—a subject that
interests me because I routinely travel among countries involved in
serious conflicts—the moreI am convinced that there is a behind the
scenes competition over the resources of the world and this leads to
long term strategies aimed at regional domination. The world is a
game-board andthe players conceal their identities and their purposes.
Let's be realistic: we live in a world where war is a profitable
racket, not a noble endeavor. My heart feels compassion and pity for
the young people who enlist because they actuallybelieve they are
"defending our freedom." This is a world where many people are in
love with war. Surely, if they actually knew war, they would not love
it. One day, we can hope, the atrocity of war will be seen for what it
is: a crime against humanity. We do not need to be pacifists to
recognize this. It is our job to make war inconceivable.
Neither Islam, nor any religion is the primary problem, but religions
maybe used by the powers thatbe to control a suggestible population.
Religion is used to manipulate the population because it has apowerful
effect on the emotions and opinions of sleeping people.
Consciousness is the best corrective for this suggestibility, and it
is the responsibility of practical mystics to help people wake up, to
become conscious in their own livesand thus to be less manipulated and
controlled.
After human beings have become minimally self-aware, they can move on
to compassion, justice, and truth—the foundation on which a lasting
peace can be built. Peace withoutcompassion, justice, and truth is an
illusion, a hoax.
Truth is essential to peace, but the Great Lie governs much of public
life. The Lie is needed to obscure the lack of justice and compassion.
But it is a principle that truth will in the end prevail. The Quran
says: God hurls the Truth against falsehood. When Truth comes
falsehood must wither.
While the Lie may temporarily drown out the voices of the oppressed,
it is a spiritual law that the cries of the innocent and oppressed
reach to the high throne of heaven.
Meanwhile almost everything in the media is a combination of
performance, spectacle, and entertainment designed to distract us from
what is really going on and what we should really be paying attention
to. We are all subjects in a vast program of mind-control. The
deception is far more extensive than the averageperson could imagine.
Human beings' suggestibility is easily exploited because the great
majority of human beings are living without a spiritual center capable
of withstanding the weapons of mass distraction. The power of
suggestion, whennot balanced by conscious thought, can lead us to be
programmed to believe almost anything.
The principle means of control are the desire for pleasure which keeps
us interested in sensuality, the need to belong which may be satisfied
through sectarianism and patriotism, the need to winapproval and
attention which makes us manipulatable by authorities.
Under Islamic Law it is not allowable to kill indiscriminately, or
even touse fire as a weapon. Weapons of mass destruction are haram ,
forbidden, according to theteaching of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and
blessings be upon him, though I am not aware of any so-called Islamic
government that honors this.
The Urgency of Consciousness
The conscious human being can witness, be aware of the contents of the
mind and the drives of the ego. This is the beginning of spiritual
freedom. This can lead us out of our enslavement to fear and the
endless desires of the false self, theselfish human ego.

In conclusion, one must have the Aqidah that Allah Most High is pure
from space and time. It is wrong to say that He is everywhere and it
is also wrong to believe that He ison something, as all these are
limited whereas Allah Almighty is limitless. However, we must believe
that His knowledge encompasses everything, and he knows, sees and
listens to everything.

3. Beyond Time and Space: 揥here is Allah?

Q. Is Allah everywhere, or isHe beyond the heavens and the earth?
A.
The issue of "Where is Allah?" is something that was never debated or
made a matter of dispute among the Muslims throughout the ages and
eras. In fact the Qur'an warns against delving into these issues in
Surah Aali Imraan (verse #7). The Sahabah and Tabi'een also dealt very
severely with those who began discussing these issues. Unfortunately,
due to immense ignorance about our deen, certain Muslims forget about
their real duties and responsibilities and waste their precious time
arguing about these issues regarding which we have been ordered not to
delve into.
Kindly see (abridged) answer of Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam Al-Kawthari
below: 'The belief (aqidah) one must have regarding his Lord and
Creator is that Allah Almighty is One, thereis nothing like Him, there
isnothing that can overwhelm Him, there is no god besides Him and Heis
Eternal without a beginning and Enduring without end. He will neither
perish nor come to an end and nothing happens except what He wills. No
imagination can conceive of Him and no understanding can comprehend
Him. He is different from any created being.
Allah Most High says about Himself:
"There is nothing whateverunto like Him." (al-Shura, 42:11).
And He says in Surah al-Ikhlas:
"And there is none like unto Him." (Al-Ikhlas, 112: 4).
Due to the above and othertexts of the Qur'an and Sunnah, one of the
major beliefs a Muslim must have regarding Allah Most High is that
there is no creation that is similar to Him. If Allah is regarded to
be similar or resemble or haveany qualities of His creation, then that
would constitute disbelief (Kufr).
Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali (May Allah have mercy on him) states:
"Whoever thinks that Allah has a body made of organs,then he is an
idol-worshipper…Whosoever worships a body is regarded a disbeliever by
the consensus of all the scholars, the early scholars (salaf) and the
late (muta'akhirun)" (Iljam al-Anam an Ilm al-Kalam, 6-8).
If one believes that there isnothing similar to Allah in any way, then
his Aqidah iscorrect and there is no need for disputes and arguments.
I believe that there isn't a Muslim that really believes that Allah is
similar to his creation in any way, thus disputes andarguments must be
avoided. Yes, if one does believe that Allah has hands, feet, face,
etc…that is similar to his creation, then without doubt this person
would come out of the fold of Islam.
Regarding the question, "where is Allah?" firstly, it should be
remembered that this is not something that one will be asked about on
the day of Qiyamah. We are in need ofpeople really learning about the
basics of Islam, rather than engaging themselves in these matters.
Those that argue and cause destruction with such issues are normally
ignorant about even the basics of Salah, Zakah, Hajj, etc…
Secondly, this question in itself is wrong. We ask regarding the
whereaboutsof a person that lives in time and space. For example, I
encompass time, meaning I live in time, and I have a body that needs
to fill some space.
However, Allah, Mighty andMajestic, is the creator of time and space.
If we limit Him to any time or space, then this would imply that we
resemble Him to his creation by giving Him a body, as space is
limited. If one was to say that Allah iseverywhere, then this is
wrong, as 'everywhere' is limited and ends somewhere, whereas Allah is
not limited.
Similarly, to say that Allah is on earth, sky, moon, sun, throne, etc…
is also wrong, as all these things are limited and to limit Allah
toany created thing is Kufr.
Imam al-Tahawi (Allah have mercy on him) states in his famous al-Aqida
al-Tahawiyya:
"He (Allah) is beyond having limits placed on Him, or being
restricted, or having parts or limbs. Nor is He contained by six
directions as all created things are." (P. 9).
Imam al-Nasafi (Allah have mercy on him) states:
"He (Allah) is not a body (jism), nor an atom (jawhar), nor is He
something formed (musawwar), nor a thing limited (mahdud), nor a thing
numbered (ma'dud), nor a thing portioned or divided, nor a thing
compounded (mutarakkab), nor does He come to end in Himself. He is not
described by quiddity (al-ma'hiya), or byquality (al-kayfiyya), nor is
He placed in space (al-makan), and time (al-zaman) does not affect
Him. Nothing resembles Him, that is to say, nothing is like Him."

What Is in a Number?

A quiet revolution is takingplace in the Arabic language; it is fast
losing the character set used to represent numbers. Arabs gave the
Arabic numerals to the world, thereby making the tremendous advances
in mathematics and science possible. But today they are giving themup
in favor of the Europeanones.
The Arab contribution was the symbols for numbers one through nine,
the concept of and the symbol for zero, and the idea of the place
value of numbersthat made it possible to write all numbers, no matter
how big or small, using these ten symbols alone. All of these remain
valid today and are the essential elements of the Arabic numbering
system. However the symbols themselves changed upon their arrival in
Europe. While the European numerals are Arabic in theirgenesis, their
shapes are not the same as those of the Arabic numerals that have been
used for centuries in the Arabic world.
First it was the newspapers, magazines, and web sites. Then textbooks.
And now even the religious books --- the last refuge of the historic
numerals --- are slowly giving way to the European onslaught. There
are notable exceptions but the general trend is very clear.
The same is true of Urdu. Its numerals, which are thesame as the
Arabic ones (with the exception of 4 and 7), have rapidly joined the
endangered species list.Today they are absent from all printed matter
in mass circulation. In religious books one finds a hodgepodge of the
Urdu and European symbols sitting uneasily next to each other,
symbolizing the confusion of the writers or publishers.
While Farsi is holding its ground better than either Arabic or Urdu,
signs of change are visible there as well.
The computers and the Internet, with their built in bias in favor of
English at the current state of their evolution, have a lot to do with
this cultural sea change. But there is also a misconception that the
European numerals are actually Arabic or that this is a change for the
better or at least that it does not matter.
In 1403 AH, the organization of senior ulama in Saudi Arabia, in
its21st congress (Riyadh, 17-28 Rabiul Akhir 1403) reviewed the then
emerging trend and passeda resolution addressing these misgivings. It
declared that changing Arabic numerals to the prevalent European ones
inArabic was not right. Among the reasons it cited were the following:
1. The claim that the presently used European numerals are the real
Arabic ones is neither well known nor true. Centuries of use give
legitimacy and authenticity to the Arabic symbols that are now being
replaced.
2. The change will have ill consequences as it is a stepin the
direction of Westernization of the Islamic society.
3. It is a reflection of the blind following of the West.
4. The Arabic numerals have been used in all written works for
centuries. If they are now replaced, it will handicap the new
generation in benefiting from this great treasure, and cut it off
fromits history.
A year later (1404 AH) the Islamic Fiqh Academy in Makkah reviewed the
issue and issued a fatwa fully supporting the resolution of the ulama.
It declared it impermissible to use the European symbols while writing
Arabic and warned about very serious consequences of this move.
Today the fears expressed by the Islamic Fiqh Academy can be seen in
stark reality. In Pakistan, people are not only using the new symbols
for writing, they are increasingly using English when expressing
numbers in words in everyday usage. (Example: "Yeh Jora aap ko four
seventy five main laga donga."). This Urdish language now evolving is
a seriously handicapped language thatcannot count, do math, express
colors, name an organization, or discuss politics, business or culture
without resorting to English. The resulting chaoshas not improved
their command of English, but it has seriously endangered their
language, culture, andcivilization.
A similar fate may await Arabic if steps are not taken to reverse the
trend. Writers and publishers in Urdu and Arabic need to pause,
reflect, and stop thismad rush into numerical disaster. Twenty years
laterthe call of the Islamic Fiqh Academy remains as relevant as ever.
And even more urgent.
