*- WHAT ISLAM SAYS -* - Islam is a religion of Mercy, Peace and Blessing. Its teachings emphasize kind hear tedness, help, sympathy, forgiveness, sacrifice, love and care.Qur’an, the Shari’ah and the life of our beloved Prophet (SAW) mirrors this attribute, and it should be reflected in the conduct of a Momin.Islam appreciates those who are kind to their fellow being, and dislikes them who are hard hearted, curt, and hypocrite.Recall that historical moment, when Prophet (SAW) entered Makkah as a conqueror. There was before him a multitude of surrendered enemies, former oppressors and persecutors, who had evicted the Muslims from their homes, deprived them of their belongings, humiliated and intimidated Prophet (SAW) hatched schemes for his murder and tortured and killed his companions. But Prophet (SAW) displayed his usual magnanimity, generosity, and kind heartedness by forgiving all of them and declaring general amnesty...Subhanallah. May Allah help us tailor our life according to the teachings of Islam. (Aameen)./-

Jumma Prayer - , Holding two jumu'ah prayers in one place

Can we organize two Friday prayers!? We do not have a mosque until
now inside the campus--we ask you for doa'a ... May Allaah help us to
gain a permanent room. Due to different schedules of the university,
students can not attend Friday Prayer which is scheduled at 1:00 p.m.
Currently new Muslim brothers are asking if we can hold a second
Friday arrangement on campus. Is it correct to host two Friday prayers
in the same campus or same place!?
I personally am afraid [the reality is that it is] madhhab excuses,
and different groups favour one time to another.I urge you to answer
this question fast
may Allaah reward you.
All Praise be to Allaah.
After discussing the question you raised withthe learned sheikh
Abdul-Aziz bin Abdullaahbin Baz, he has indicatedthat Islamic shari'ah
does not legislate holding two jumu'ah prayers in one place. You
should choose the most convenient time--and its timing extends until
the 'asr prayer--andurge and enjoin all the Muslims to attend. Note
that it is mandatory to stop all work (including attending classes)
for the jumu'ah prayer. Whoever misses it wouldpray the dhuhr prayer.
May Allaah grant you all success in obeying Him and pleasing Him and
may He ease your affairs wherever you may be.

In the Dark of the Night …

Once, there was a pious Muslim merchant who used to trade cattle. He
would buy cows from Iraq or Iran and sell themin Syria. This trader
was arighteous Muslim: pious, devout and pure hearted;he would pray at
night, fast and give charity frequently.
On one of his trade journeys, as he was shepherding a herd of cows to
sell them, it began to snow heavily. As a result, the road was
blocked, the grass died, and all his cows perished, except for four.
The poor trader took his four cowsand wandered all over the place,
until one evening he reached a small village on the road from Al-Mosul
to Halab. He knocked on the door of one of the houses in this village.
The owner ofthe house answered and the trader told him that he was a
stranger who wanted to spend that night at his house until morning so
he could continue his journey and go to another village.
The generous villager welcomed the trader warmly. He let him andhis
cows in the yard of his house, and offered the trader food and fedhis
cows. In fact, this villager was poor and penniless; all his cows had
died and his lands were ruined due to theheavy rains and snow that had
been falling for a very long time over their village. The villager was
married and the father of one child, and the small family lived in
their two-room house; one room for him and his wife and the other for
their child.
The villager's family gathered around the guest for a nightly chatfrom
which the villager cam to know that the trader was carrying a sum of
money with him. After the villager and his wife had gone to bed, the
guest went to sleep in the child's room. The child slept on his bed in
the right side of the room and the trader's bed was on the left side.
The villager asked his guest if he needed anything else before going
to bed and madesure that he was comfortable. The villager's wife
whispered in her husband's ears, insinuating evil into his mind, "How
long shall we remain poor? This guest is rich and we are in dire need
of his money and cows; we may have food for aday, but would spend days
without any food. What if a famine hit the village and we have neither
food nor money? We have a golden opportunity tonight: this guest is
rich,so let us steal his money and cows so as to maintain our lives
and save our only child's life."
The villager exclaimed, "How could we do that toour guest? How can I
steal his money and cows? Will he let me take his money and cows?" The
wife answered wickedly, "Kill him and throw his body in a hole in the
middle of the valley and no one would know about it."
The villager hesitated, but the wife kept insisting and persuading him
to enforce this evil plan; to convince him and end his hesitation she
said, "This is essential to save us from certain death; indeed, in
times ofextreme necessity, even the forbidden becomes permissible."
Finally, the wife managed to convince her husband of this wicked
Satanic scheme and he made up his mind to kill the traderand steal his
money and cows.
After midnight, in the lastthird of the night when everything was
quiet anddarkness and silence had enveloped the whole village, the
villager took his dagger, sharpened it, and headed towards the room
where his guest and his son were sleeping. His wife accompanied him,
encouraging him to put his evil plan into action. The villager tiptoed
slowly, heading to the left side of the room where the guest was
sleeping. He groped for his sleeping guest until he touched his neck
in this black darkness; the villager unsheathed his dagger and cut the
guest's throat swiftly, justlike he would slaughter agoat.
The villager went back tohis wife, seeking her helpto move the body
and no sooner had they pulled the dead body out of the room, they
realized that they had slaughtered their one and only son! The
villager sobbed and his wife did the same on seeing their son's dead
body between their bloodstained hands; theyboth lost their
consciousness. Hearing the noise, the sleeping guest woke up and so
did the neighbors to find the villager's son murdered (and the
villager and his wife unconscious). The guest and the neighbors
hastened to the unconscious villager and his wife, splashing cold
water over their faces to wake them up. When they woke up, they burst
into tears and asked the neighbors to call the police. The police
arrived at the crime scene and arrested the killers.
What exactly had happened inside the bedroom where the guest and the
villager's son slept that night? In fact, the villager's son went to
the guest's bed on the other side of the room after his parents had
left the room and engaged in conversation with him; it was quite a
long conversation, and the son felt asleep in the middle of it on the
guest's bed. The kind guest did not wish to wake up the child, so he
slept in the child's bed instead. When the villager came inside the
room in the dark of the night, he was sure that his son was sleeping
in his own bed in the other side of the room and the guest was in his
bed. Therefore, he slaughtered the one whowas sleeping in the guest's
bed, not knowingthat he was slaughtering his own son with his
veryhands!
The villager wanted to kill the guest, but Allaah The Exalted willed
his sonto be killed instead. The neighbors buried the villager's son
and his unfortunate parents went to prison for their crime.

The Arrows of Satan

Satan readies himself and chooses his prey carefully. He is determined
as he shoots the arrows of looks to go through your eyes, tearing the
veils of modesty and chastity. This arouses the desires of the weak
heart, which commands the bodyto pursue the satisfaction of
suchdesires. The tongue speaks, the legs walk, and thus, unlawful acts
are committed and the soul falls into the mire of sin.
"That is purer for them"
In order to ward off this Satanic cycle, Allaah The Almighty
instructed his believing slaves, both men and women, to lower their
gaze. He told them that this would purify them. Allaah The Almighty
Says (what means): {Tellthe believing men to reduce [some] of their
vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed,
Allaah is acquainted with what they do. And tell the believing women
to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts.}
[Quran 24:30-31]
Ibn Al-Qayyim said in Al-Fawaa'id that Sahl ibn 'Abdullaah
says,"Abandoning the order is greater than committing the prohibition
in the sight of Allaah because Aadam (Adam) was forbidden to eat from
the tree and when he ate from it Allaah accepted his repentance, but
Satan was ordered to prostrate to Aadam, when he refused and Allaah
did not accept his repentance."
Ibn Al-Qayyim said in Ad-Daa'wad-Dawaa', "Look at the accuracy of the
Quranic expression in the order to lower the gaze, as if Allaah The
Almighty reminds us that not lowering the gaze causes the doom of the
doer and his suffering in this life and in the Hereafter. Failing to
lower one's gaze is the basis for the problemsthat afflict man. An
unlawful lookgenerates thoughts, then thoughts generate ideas, then
ideas generate desires, then desires generate will, which develops
into resolve and determination, then the action inevitably takes place
if there is nothing to prevent it."
This is the destructive cycle of Satan, which traps the one who does
not lower his gaze, then records the images and scenes seen by his
treacherous eyes. Satan waits for the moment of weakness in man's
faith to release these images and scenes in his mind and soul,
igniting his sexual desire, which dominates the heart that commands
the body to disobey Allaah The Almighty, and so on in a consecutive
sequence. The more the images vary, the easier arousal and falling
into sin will be. On the other hand, the less the images and scenes,
the weaker their impact and influence on the heart will be. According
to a saying, "Patience over lowering the gaze is easier than patience
over the pain of its consequences."
O Muslim who does not lower his gaze, if your eyes roam around looking
at the charms of beautiful women, you would plant in your heart thorns
of loss and regret.
"Allaah knows that which deceives the eyes"
Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {He knows that which deceives
the eyes and what the breasts conceal.} [Quran 40:19] This is a great
verse and the interpreter of the Quran, Ibn Mas'ood tells you its
meaning, "It refers to a man whoenters a person's house where there is
a beautiful woman among them, or that a beautiful woman passes by
them, and while they do not notice him, he looks at her; when they see
him, he lowers his gaze. However, Allaah The Almighty knows that he
inwardly wishes to see her private parts."
The great scholar, Al-Ameen Ash-Shinqeeti said in Adhwaa' Al-Bayaan,
"The verse contains a warning for the one who betrays with his eyes by
looking at what is unlawful for him. The slave of Allaah will
standbefore Allaah and be questioned about his senses. Allaah The
Almighty Says (what means): {Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the
heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.} [Quran 17:36]
If you will be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about your stares
and looks, have you prepared an answer for this?
The fornication of the eyes
To make this act more repugnantto the souls, the Prophet called it
adultery of the eyes. It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah
that the Prophet said: "Allaah has written for the son of Aadam his
inevitable share of adultery. The adultery of the eye is looking (at
what is prohibited), the adultery of the ears is listening (to what
isprohibited), the adultery of the tongue is uttering (what it is
unlawful to utter), the adultery ofthe hand is doing (what is
prohibited), the adultery of the legs is walking (to what is
prohibited) and the heart desires and wishes for (adultery) and the
private parts affirm that or contradict it." [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim
(this is the wording of Muslim )]
In Sharh Saheeh Muslim, An-Nawawi said, "The meaning of the Hadeeth is
that a share of adultery is written for the son of Aadam. Some people
commit actual adultery by entering the male genital organ into the
genital organ of a femalewho is unlawful to him. Other people commit
adultery in the figurative sense by looking at the prohibition or
listening to adultery and its relevant affairs, or by touching with
the hand a non-Mahram (marriageable) woman or kissing her, or by
walking to commit adultery, seeing, touching, or forbidden talking
with a non-Mahram woman, or by inner thoughts. All these things belong
to metaphoric adultery. By "The private parts affirm that or
contradict it " it means that adultery might actually happen through
the private parts or might not take place by entering the male genital
organ into the female genital organ even if he is close to doing it.
Allaah knows best."
Public corruption
Giving free rein to the gaze has corrupted most human beings; the
display of beauty no longer has limits, and indulgence in luxury no
longer has restraints. Adornment, clothing and fashion have penetrated
our minds, surpassed all the restrictions and barriers, and has become
like a sea of chaos where good taste is drowned and the pure, chaste
heart is spoiled.
Destruction of homes
It is noticeable that one of the most important causes of problems in
many homes is failing to lower the gaze. When the husband releases his
gaze, a comparison will seep into his heart between his wife and the
corrupting programs made by some people to tempt others. This
comparison causes many problems in homes, when the husband asks his
wife to give himwhat he sees from dissolute women and provocative
images are imprinted in his mind.
It is also noticeable that releasingthe gaze is one of the main
reasons for the delay in marriage. That is because the young man
already has in his mind multiple examples of beautiful girls,
especially those whom he watches on television and searches hard to
get one like them. Yet, he will not get what he wants, because what he
sees on television is generally deceptive beauty and false femininity,
and thus leads him to delay his marriage and affects themarriage of
Muslim girls with him.

Dought & clear - , Attending the festivals of the mushrikeen and congratulating them

Is it permissible to attend the celebrations of Christian festivals
and congratulate them?
Praise be to Allaah.
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: it is not
permissible for the Muslims to attend the festivals of the mushrikeen,
according to the consensus of the scholars whose words carry weight.
The fuqaha' who follow the four schools of thought have stated this
clearly in their books… Al-Bayhaqi narrated with a saheeh isnaad from
'Umar ibn al-Khattaab that he said: "Do not enter upon the mushrikeen
in their churches on the day of their festival, for divine wrath is
descending upon them." And 'Umar also said: "Avoid the enemies of
Allaah on their festivals." Al-Bayhaqi narrated with a jayyid isnaad
from 'Abd-Allaah ibn 'Amr that he said: "Whoever settles in the land
of the non-Arabs and celebrates their newyear and festival and
imitates them until he dies in that state, will be gathered with them
on the Day of Resurrection."(Ahkaam Ahl al-Dhimmah, 1/723-724).
With regard to congratulating them on their festivals

Dought & clear - , None of the woman’s financial rights over her husband are waived as aresult of his financial hardship or bankruptcy

After my divorce and alimony battle with the Supreme Court of Canada,
I was awarded the court costs as I won the case. But despite the court
order, my ex-husband has not paidme anything and he has declared
bankruptcy. My question is: is he still in debt to me before Allah,
may He be glorified and exalted? Does he still owe me other money that
has accumulated?.
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
In the answer to question 127179 we stated that the fuqaha' of the
Muslims are unanimously agreed that being Muslim is an essential
condition of the judge who judges cases among the Muslims, because
servingas a judge is a kind of wilaayah (authority), and there is no
wilaayahfor a kaafir over a Muslim.
We also stated that a concession is granted allowing one to refer to
the court that is based on the man-made law ofthe land, when doing so
becomes a means of getting one's rights or warding off wrongdoing in a
land that is not ruled by sharee'ah, on condition that those who have
knowledge of sharee'ah be consulted to determine the shar'i ruling
that is applicable to a given case, and that the demand be limited
only to seeking what sharee'ah allows and trying to implement it.
But if the court that is based on kaafir, man-made laws has issued a
verdict in favour of one of the twodisputing parties over the other,
awarding himmore than he is entitled to (according to sharee'ah), it
is not permissible for him to take more than he is entitled to, and he
has toreturn the rest to the rightful owner.
If the court has awardedhim his rights, then he may take it; if it has
awarded him less than his due, then he has the right to ask for the
rest of what he is entitled to, and it remains a debt owed by his
opponent; the ruling of the court does not absolve him of that debt.
Something similar may be said concerning otherrights, if you are still
entitled to some rights from him, such as maintenance, clothing, money
that he borrowed from you, andso on. None of these can be waived if he
declares bankruptcy or if the court does not instruct him to give
them; rather he still owes them to youand whenever he can afford to,
he must fulfil the duties that he owes.
If the law of that land waives debts for the bankrupt person if he
declares his bankruptcy, then it is a law that is contrary to
sharee'ah and it does not carry anyweight.
Please see the answer to question no. 127591
Based on that, you should examine the ruling of this Canadian court;
if it is in accordance with the ruling of Allah, then it may be
followed and implemented. But if it is contrary to that, it should be
rejected and should not be implemented, and you should refer to the
nearest Islamic centre to your place of residence in that country, to
find out about that and act accordingly.
Secondly:
It is clear from the abovethat the money that has been awarded by the
court is permissible for you to take if it is what you are entitled to
as determined by the Islamic judge (qaadi). If it is more than that,
you do not have the right to take more than the amount determined by
sharee'ah; if there is anything more than that, it is not
permissibleto you to take it.
But if it is less than what you are entitled to, you have the right to
take it, and the rest remains a debt that he owes and it is not
waived; wheneverhe can afford it, he should pay it off.
If he is really poor and infinancial difficulty, then you have to wait
until heis able to pay it off.
But he has resorted to declaring bankruptcy, aspeople often do in the
West, this does not meanthat your shar'i rights are waived for him;
rather it remains a debt that he owes. If he is notreally in financial
difficulty, then you can try to ask for it, put pressure on him, and
complain about him, until you get what you are entitled to from him.
If he really is in financial difficulty, then you have to give him
time until hecan afford to pay off his debt.

Ibrahim ibn Adham and the man who didn't disobey Allah again

A man came to Ibrahim ibn Adham, may Allah be pleased with him, and
said, "Abu Ishaq, I am unable to control myself. Please give me
something to help me with it"
"If you accept five conditions," said Ibrahim, "and are able to put
them into practice, your disobedience will not cause you any problem."
"Just tell me what they are, Abu Ishaq!" the mansaid. "The first is
that when you want to disobey Allah you do noteat anything He
provides." "Then how will I get anything to eat? Everything on the
earth is from Him!" "So isit right to eat His provision and disobey
Him at the same time?" replied Ibrahim.
"No, it is not. What is thesecond condition?""When you want to disobey
him, move off His land."
"That is even more difficult! Exclaimed the man. "In that case
wherewill I live?"
"Is it right to eat his provision and live on His land and then to
disobeyHim?" asked Ibrahim."No, it is not."
"What is the third condition?" "When you want to disobey Him in spite
of eating His provision and living on His land, find a place where He
will not see you and disobey Him there."
"What do you mean, Ibrahim? He knows everything that happenseven in
the most hidden places!" "So is it right to disobey Him when you eat
His provision and liveon His land and when you know that He can see
everything you do?""It certainly is not!" the man replied.
"Tell me the fourth condition." "That when the Angel of Death arrives
to take your soul, you say to him, 'Give me a reprieve so that I can
repent and act righteously for Allah.'"
"But he won't listen to me!" "Then if you cannotward off death long
enough to give yourself time to repent, and you know that when it
comes there will be no reprieve, how can you hope to be saved?"
"What is the fifth?" "Thatwhen the angels of the Fire come to you to
take you to the Fire, you do not go with them.""They will take me
whether I like it or not!" exclaimed the man.
"So how can you hope to be saved?"
"Enough, enough, Ibrahim! I ask Allah's forgiveness and I turn toHim!"
The man's repentance was sincere and from that time on he was
assiduous in his worship and avoided acts of disobedience until the
day he died.

Islamic Stories - , The young girl who isn't an atheist like her teacher

A young woman teacher with obvious liberal tendencies explains to her
class of small children that she is an atheist. She asks her class if
they're atheists too. Not really knowing what atheism is but wanting
to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like fleshy
fireworks. There is, however, one exception. A beautiful girl named
Zainab has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she
has decidedto be different. "BecauseI'm not an atheist."
Then, asks the teacher,"What are you?" "I'm a Muslim." The teacher is
alittle perturbed now, herface slightly red. She asks Zainab why she
is a Muslim. "Well, I was brought up knowing and loving God. My momis
a Muslim, and my dad is a Muslim, so I am a Muslim."
The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason," she says loudly,"what if
your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron, - what would you be
then?" Shepaused, and smiled."Then," says Zainab, "I'd be an atheist."

Raising your Child to be a Muslim

It is true that the first learning center for a child is the mother's
lap. The mannerisms of the parents are reflected in the children.
The story of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani is famous: When he was
traveling with a caravan,a gang of thieves robbed the caravan, when it
came time to check Abdul Qadir Jeelani (Rahmatullahi Alaih), an
eighteen year old young man, the thieves inquired if he had any
valuables to which told them about money which had been sewn in his
clothes by his mother. The thieves asked out of curiosity as to why he
let them knowof the sewn money to which he told them that his mother
had advised him before leaving 'to never lie' upon which the thieves
become ashamed and repented to Allah.
It is the duty of the parents to be an example to their children and
advise them. Allah (Subhanahu Ta'ala) tells us of the advise that
Luqman Hakeem gave to his son, "Behold, Luqman said Tohis son by way
of instruction: "O my son! Join not others with Allah; association
with Allah is indeed the highest wrong-doing."
Then after some ayaat, the advise continues,
O my son! If there be (but) the weight of a mustard-seed and it were
(hidden) in a rock or (anywhere) in the heavens or on earth, Allah
will bring it forth; for Allah knows the finest mysteries, (and) is
well-acquainted (with them).
O my son! Establish regular prayer, enjoin what is Just, and forbid
what is wrong; and bearwith patient constancy whatever befalls thee;
these are affairs of determination.
And swell not thy check (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence
through the earth; For Allah loveth not Any arrogant boaster.
And be moderate in thy pace, and lower they voice; for the harshest
ofsounds without doubt is the braying of an ass.
(Surah Luqman)
We can recall not to longago in our Muslim culture that all the
grown-ups in the community would take the role of guiders for the
youth. No child dared acting up in front of elders in any gathering.
All the elders held enough authority that they could discipline the
child without having to face the wrath of the parents as is the case
today. As a result, children tend to misbehave and disrespect elders
because they no longer have fear discipline fromanyone besides that
parents and that too is seen little.
Parents find out too late that what they thought was giving 'freedom'
to their children was really digging a hole for them. Being
affectionate to your child is one thing but to let them free to do
anything is not affection rather it is hurting the child. Ah, this is
all a result of the parents forgetting the duty of teaching the child.
More often the television takes the place of the parent and it is from
here the child gains much of his/her ill-mannerisms. Today, I ask you
to take my words to be a reminder and a word of caution.
When the child is able tospeak a little, teach themthe name of Allah.
Before, mothers would put their children to sleep by chanting Allah
Allah , but now it is by playing the music on theradio.
When children are mature do not do anything in front them which will
ruin their mannerisms because they tend to copy these acts, they do
whatever they see their parents doing. Never argue with your spouse in
front of them because this leavesputs a lot of stress on thechild and
causes them tothink that they are the cause of the argument. Never
curse your children.
Pray Salah in front of them, recite Quran, take them to the Masjid
with you, and tell them stories of our pious predecessors, they like
to listen to stories very much. Hearing stories with lessons and
morals will increase their good habits. When they are a little older,
teach them the five Kalimat, Imane Mujmal, Imane Mufassal, and then
teach them Salah.
Put them in under the teaching of an Allah-fearing, Mutaqee Saheehul
Aqeeda Hafiz or Maulvi of to learn Quran Majeed and knowledge of the
deen so they can learn of the beautiful religion to which they belong.
Teach them the masail ofgusul, wudu, and salah.
If Allah gives you taufeeq, make atleast onyour children Alim or
Alimah or Hafiz or Hafiza.A Hafiz will get three generations forgiven
and Alim will get seven generations forgiven [on the Day of
Judgement]. It is baseless to think that an Alim has no source of
earning bread for his family. Know that one does not get more than
destined by learning uloom of the dunya; onewill get what Razzaq has
written for him.
Teach your children simplicity and do not expose them to materialism.
Teach them the value of doing thier own work. Send them tocollege,
make them judges, make them doctors or any successfuland halal career
in this world but make them such that they take on these professions
as honest Muslims who know their religion.

said, "Where is the questioner, who enquired about the Hour
(Doomsday)?" The Bedouin said, "I am here,O Allah's Apostle ." Then
the Prophet said, "When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour

and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till
Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established."
72
Narrated Ibn 'Umar: We were with the Prophet and a spadix of date-palm
tree was brought to him. On that he said, "Amongst the trees, there is
